I had my first ultrasound today! The heartbeat was 176 and I'm 8 weeks 6 days. With my other two pregnancies, I never saw anything past 6 weeks so I am super excited and hopeful about this one. Here's a picture of my little gummy bear!

Hi!
We had our NT scan today and got more ultrasound pics. The OB who did the scan was pretty no nonsense and didn't say much except that the baby looked active. The results should be back in about two weeks...no news is good news!
Looks like I have another thumb sucker!

@autumnlove-- THANK YOU! and what a sweetie you have there!!! That's so cute that the baby is sucking his/her thumb!!!

@mssally: Sounds like you had a great appointment!
@autumnlove: What an adorable ultrasound pic!
Ugh man I'm really having a horrible relationship with food. I'm so sick, but I know eating frequently helps. It's a vicious cycle.

@MrsWasatch: Thank you! I have terrible nausea right now...should I try to eat more throughout the day? I've been lazy with snacking!
pea / 20 posts
@autumnlove: I know the longer I go without food the worse my stomach feels. I wish I could not snack so much. I'm not worried about weight, but I'm so sick of crackers and other bland stuff I've been having for weeks. It's so hard to eat when you feel so terrible.

Hi all. Just a note to explain why I've been quiet lately. I lost the baby on Wednesday. I have my one year old here nursing away while I type this and she truly had been my saviour. Hugs to all your little growing ones.

Hi May ladies! It's been quiet.... I'm still thinking about the sad news from @MrsTiz and @icebergmom, and hoping that you ladies are hanging in there.
How is everyone else doing? I'm just about 9 weeks right now. My nausea really was the worst from weeks 6-7 thankfully - it still hits me now but it's become a bit more manageable. I'm still only pretty much managing carbs and limited protein but at 9 weeks I feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel. My NT is scheduled for November 16, at which time we plan to go more or less public (not facebook yet), so that is my next milestone I guess.
I hope you all are feeling well!

@Revel: Hey!!! Yes this thread has been so quiet. And @icebergmom @MrsTiz I hope you guys are okay. @MrsTiz I think your d&c is today so check in if you want, ok?
@Revel I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and only now starting to feel a bit nauseous in the morning but overall have been feeling mostly great. I also just threw my hands up at eating Paleo and have been living on pizza, grilled cheese and bagels this week. Blech! I really am trying to eat my normal way but it's so unappetizing.
Monday DH is having his cystic fibrosis screen (I came back positive as a carrier) and our NT scan is scheduled for Nov 13 - we also plan to make it more public if all goes well, but I've been telling close friends more the last couple of weeks. I'm not going to bother with a Facebook announcement, i just sort of feel meh about that.

@JoJoGirl: I was eating paleo/low carb when we got pregnant and have finally been able to start lowering my carb intake!
I'll be hitting 13 weeks on Sunday. My nausea has been on and off this week. Some days I feel like it's super manageable and then I have a horrible day like yesterday...where I was nauseous until about 8pm. The only other thing besides the exhaustion that is really bothering me are my hips! I wake up in the middle night with horrible hip pain and nothing helps. I sleep with a million pillows in hopes that will help...but nothing. The only thing that makes a difference is taking a bath before bed.
We had our first appointment with the midwife last week since being released from our RE. It went really well and I just have to work on keeping a diet log and pretty much get back to eating the way I was when we got pregnant. I shared with her that I've been feeling flutters since about 9.5 weeks and thought maybe it could possibly be the baby moving. I thought it was too early and I was probably crazy...BUT when she was having a hard time finding baby's heartbeat with the Doppler, she asked where I was feeling flutters and I pointed to the area...once she placed the Doppler there we heard baby kicking away and heard the strong heartbeat! She confirmed that I have been indeed feeling baby kick! I can feel the flutters when I'm real still sitting in traffic or laying in bed, I can't wait until my DH gets to feel some kicks!

Hi ladies! Glad to hear from some of you. Like others have iterated, @icebergmom @MrsTiz, we are definitely thinking of you lately.
I'm 10W2D today and feeling alright. I had nausea most of this week, but so far no vomiting, which I'm so grateful for. We have our next appointment with the midwife on November 7th and I believe its when our NT scan is. We haven't decided if we'll do it yet, but DH and I both agreed to do our research then talk about it. I'm sort of split down the middle right now.
We haven't told many people we are pregnant yet because we haven't had a chance to see the baby or hear a heartbeat. Will have to wait until 11/7. Its had me a bit worried, but I know I can't do anything to control it.
On a random sidenote, I haven't been drinking much caffeine, but got a frap from Starbucks this morning and I'm now pretty jittery and anxious. I hope I didn't have too much caffeine, I probably should have just gotten decaf :(. Ah, also can't do anything about that either!

Like you ladies, I am another paleo casualty, at least for the moment.
@Jojogirl, good luck with the cystic fibrosis screening for DH! I have a friend who is a carrier and I know that was a nerve wracking few days waiting for her husband's results. He ended up being negative. I have mixed feeling about facebook. I share enough that it would be odd for me not to post it at some point, but I'm just not dying to do it right away.
@EMG86, congrats on "graduating" from the RE! That is amazing that you are actually feeling flutters so early. I hope the hip pain eases up for you.

I have hit my second trimester according to one app!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Revel: I'm actually not so worried about it. The chances of him being positive are only 1 in 25, and even if he IS, I guess he needs to have the same kind of mutation that I do for it to be a risk to the baby, and then even if THAT happens, it's still only a 1 in 4 chance the baby has it. So overall I think it'll be fine. We'll just have to decide our next course of action if he is positive, ie do I want to do a CVS or not. We'll see.

@autumnlove: Awesome! Congrats!
@Mrs. Lovejoy: Ah, caffeine...I went cold turkey the day we found out but I wasn't drinking a lot of caffeine anyways...but man, oh man...I miss it so much! I dream of drinking big cups of coffee that aren't decaf lol.

Hey ladies! As of Thursday, according to my apps I too have hit the second trimester!
I've been feeling pretty good, still sleepy though, and only get a little nauseous after breakfast, and after dinner now. I haven't been physically sick in a week! I'm having some round ligament pain, especially if I sneeze or caugh.
Our next appt is November 7, I'll be 14w6d. We're hoping to convince them to peek at baby and see if we can find out the gender... Wishful thinking
@emg86: I was sitting at the computer at work the other day and felt a weird tickleing sensation... I completely wrote it of as gas though! Maybe it was some baby movement?
Random - on Wednesday I got my mom car! It's a 2013 ford escape. It's perfect.
persimmon / 1153 posts
@Cupcake: Congrats on hitting the second trimester & your new mom car! Flutters could be the baby! For me, it felt like butterflies were in one particular spot and it felt like nothing I had ever felt before. My midwife said women who are in tune with their bodies can usually feel flutters early on especially when you're still. I've heard that as your entering your second trimester you might be able to figure it out because it might become more consistent. I can't wait for the strong kicks though!

Congrats to those hitting second trimester!!
Are you ladies reading any books about pregnancy or when the baby arrives?
I've been reading Happiest baby on the block and the baby whisperer solves all your problems. I kind of feel like I have no idea what to do once baby arrives. haha
Is everyone's morning sickness going away? Mine is finally gone! I just feel extremely tired. Also whenever I eat, I feel stuffed no matter how little or a lot I eat. Bloated all the time too. Sigh.
Just wanted to check in with you mamas and see how everyone is. I have trouble keeping up the boards because there is so many new comments!

I think my NT scan is going to be a victim of Hurricane Sandy! They've closed the subways and we *could* drive if the office is open (and I guess that's a big if?), but that seems sort of insane. We'd have to go over a bridge in Manhattan! In high winds! But on top of dreading rescheduling it, I was really looking forward to getting to see things again and hopefully feeling reassured that things are progressing... Ugh.
