@auggiefrog: I hope everything went OK today and they were able to clarify the results. Thinking about you.

I had my first US today and they are keeping my EDD at April 22. Heartbeat was 179 and they said everything looks good. I was totally stressing in the days leading up to this - feeling less bloated for some reason the past few days I wondered if we'd see the HB. I have my materni21 test scheduled for next Thursday.
Has everyone decided when they plan to share the news with coworkers and friends? Last time I waited till the end of the first trimester to tell them.

@autumnleaves: I have been feeling less bloated and "pregnant" too lately. It's so stressful! I'm glad you had a good appointment! We've already told everyone. Oops lol

@autumnleaves: I sought HB's advice on when to share the news and have decided to wait until I get my NT Scan results. So in another four weeks. If I start legit showing, I may call my doctor to learn the results and then share.
At a company event this evening I was totally able to hide the fact I wasn't drinking by mixing cran & orange juice that looked like a madras.

Both of my appointments went well, and I feel so much better tonight than I did last night.
My regular doctor's appointment wasn't too exciting, except that she found the babies heartbeat pretty quickly. It was in the 150's, and hearing it after getting all of the bad news was very relieving.
The genetic councilor said my odds of Down's was actually 1 in 24. My HCG was high, and my PAPP-A was low, which was the trigger. We chose to do the Harmony21 test, which will give us a 99% accuracy on whether or not the baby has down's. We passed on the more invasive CVS? test which is 100% accurate.
With the low PAPP-A diagnoses I will have regular ultrasounds after 20 weeks, depending on the growth of the baby. If the baby is growing fine, then I don't need one as often. If they notice that the babies growth has slowed down, I will get more frequent ultrasounds, and ultimately may be delivering earlier than expected. The councilor said the odds were very good that I would go on to have a very normal pregnancy, and a healthy delivery. This problem would not affect my miscarriage rates.
So again, I feel a lot better after talking with the councilor, and hearing that my odds of a normal pregnancy were actually pretty good. Thank you ladies for all of your well wishes!
@autumnleaves: Hooray the for good ultrasound! I'm not sure when I am telling my coworkers. I told my boss last week. I might wait until I show more. We told all of our close family and most of our close friends. I have one more good friend to tell.

@auggiefrog: so glad you had good doc appointments and are feeling much better!
@autumnleaves: congrats on you US! I'm 12w1d and will tell my boss and coworkers after we get blood test results by early next week, although my belly might betray me before then! Most of my friends know already but I have a few I still need to tell.

@auggiefrog: so glad you had a good doctor's appointment and were able to get some reassurance!
@autumnleaves: all my close friends pretty much know already since they were aware of the Ivf. I have some friends I still need to tell which I will probably do after the nt scan. With work I will probably wait until 14/15 weeks unless it becomes noticibly obvious beforehand.

@auggiefrog: sounds like good appointment! We did CVS when we found out about our odds with DS which was 1:25. It seemed scary but was actually super easy and we got results in 3 days. I don't think the blood tests were as reliable back then. The waiting sucks so hang in there momma!!!

@auggiefrog: Yay! I am happy the appointments went well and they were able to provide some reassurance.
I want to wait and tell my coworkers till after I get the Materni21 results - I was thinking about waiting till the Level II US which is Nov 19 but I may be showing by then. I went to a conference with a bunch of my coworkers 2 weeks ago and just about everyone had alcohol but me. Since I like to drink and didn't, I am curious if any of them started to suspect. I was able to use the excuses of needing to stay hydrated in the high altitude (we were visiting Denver) and being the designated sober one. Being in the high altitude I lot of them got tipsy really quickly.

Hello Ladies! I've been absent for a while. I was nervous about posting too much before things looked okay. But, knock on wood, things are looking good! My due date has shifted from 4/10 to 4/5, I got back the Informaseq test results and the baby is healthy and a BOY! I have a girl and always pictured myself as a mom of girls, so I was pretty shocked, but I'm super excited. We're telling our family this weekend and I'm telling work on Monday (I feel like it's pretty obvious by this point, though).

@poppygirl15: congrats and welcome! And I think you are our first to know gender; so cool! Boys are so much fun!

We received the results from the Harmony test today. The results showed low risk and it's a BOY! Based on the Ramzi method we thought it could be a boy so I had that in the back of my mind for the last 4 weeks. I'm wondering if that's why I've felt so much worse this pregnancy than I did with my daughter.

@BandDmommy: @jennylayneaz: @bloved: thanks!
@DenMom - yay another mom expecting a boy! Congrats!!
So, I have a question for you ladies. I'm planning on telling my work on Monday (I'll be almost 14 weeks). I work at a law firm and for my first baby, I brought in cupcakes for my fellow attorneys when I learned the baby's gender. I want to celebrate this baby, too, and was thinking of bringing in a bunch of blue sugar cookies for the whole office (about 70 people). But, having suffered a miscarriage prior to this baby, I don't want to be insensitive to anyone who might be having a hard time getting pregnant. What do you think? Is it okay to have the cookies to do my pregnancy/gender reveal, or should I just keep it simple and tell my friends (and then let word of mouth take care of the rest)?

@poppygirl15: Congrats!!!
@Den mom: Congrats!!!
@poppygirl15: It's a nice thought, but as someone who has had a difficult time conceiving, and have gone through MC's and CP's, depending where I was in my journey, I might be a bit miffed, and have to avoid the break room or where ever the cookies were being kept/ distributed. I am far more forgiving when there is food involved, but not everyone is. Personally I'm all for just casually letting people know. It's not as fun, or exciting, but it also doesn't feel like you have someone else's good luck in fertility being shoved in our face (sorry).
I'm not sure how I will do it. I've already told my boss, but not coworkers. I work at a daycare and I could just let the kids do it for me! lol.

@poppygirl15: Personally, I don't make a big deal announcing my pregnancy so I wouldn't. But if you want to, I'd make it something casual, like leave in break room and send out an email explaining purpose of cookies and if people want one they are welcome to a cookie in the break room .
pear / 1622 posts
@Den mom: @poppygirl15: congratulations!
@poppygirl15: I like the cookie idea. If you are a person who brings treats in to celebrate or just because - I would go ahead and do this. I don't bring treats into the office so I'll probably start with telling my bosses and then make the announcement at some formal or informal staff meeting.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
@poppygirl15: congrats on your baby boy! I'll update our list soon.
I don't work in an office and am not hip to office etiquette, but I love sweets! In terms of actually letting people know I think a verbal announcement vs an email would be best. It'd be super weird if someone read your email, headed to the break room to grab a cookie, but didn't drop by your desk to say congrats. At least with in person announcement everyone will say congrats before eating your treats.

Felony a little jealous for those who already know gender. we opted out of the testing. I hope to know at my next eppt, towards end of the month. It is early, hut I think that I might have felt flutters last night. This is LO2 so it wouldn't be that early.

@poppygirl15: well, I love cookies, so that's my answer
@GwenMarieDC: Welcome! I'm a first time mom also. So exciting!
ETA: @MaisyMay: I'm jealous too! I feel like I'm going to be the last to know LOL

Oh my word, I've been away from this board and missed so much!
@poppygirl15: @Den mom: congrats on your baby boys! Crazy that were already starting to find out gender!
@auggiefrog: sounds like you had a positive appointment! That's great to hear.
@GwenMarieDC: welcome and congrats!
AFM, I have my first official ultrasound on Tuesday, so that's exciting. I'm feeling a little in denial that I'm nearly 12 weeks pregnant, where have the last two months gone?
Is anyone else (especially second or more pregnancy) already feel like they are showing a little? I feel like I have a little bump already! Just pulled out all my old maternity clothes to wash this weekend.... Please tell me I'm not alone!

@poppygirl15: Congratulations on your little boy! I think the cookie idea is nice and as someone who has dealt with a MC it wouldn't bother me.
@Den mom: Congratulations to you too! All blue so far in here!
@MaisyMay: That's so cool you think you can feel baby already! I found out I have an anterior placenta again at my scan so guessing it may be a while yet for me.
@GwenMarieDC: Welcome and congratulations!
@MrsRoo: Oh, I pulled out my maternity clothes yesterday. My jeans are getting snug by the end of the day. My first pregnancy I put off wearing maternity pants until almost 22 weeks, and this time I'm like, bring on the elastic waistbands! I'm trying to sort out which of my clothes are already too tight to wear and which ones have a few more weeks in them, since I'm pretty sure the maternity stuff is going to be falling off for a while.
As for me, the doc just called with results of the Verifi bloodwork and everything looks normal with the baby! I am so relieved. I have a voicemail waiting with the gender because my husband would have killed me if I found out alone, so once he gets home we will listen. Send me willpower until then!!

@MrsRoo: this is my 3rd pregnancy and my youngest is only 10 months so definitely showing.

@MrsRoo: I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow and bought some maternity pants already. I was so over feeling uncomfortable! Damn bloating.

@mamabolt: I think last time it took about 7 days but I couldn't remember if it was 7 or 10.
