@jh524: oh and about Zika... I don't know what to think. I'm not worried for this pregnancy but any future ones maybe. I plan on getting the Tdap and that's it. I waffled about the flu shot but never got one.

Who's still working out? I feel better exercising in this pregnancy but wow does it wipe me out!!! My tailbone hurts so bad some days, I'm not sure if it helps or aggravates it more...

So. My MIL passed away this morning. I am in disbelief right now. Definitely having Braxton hicks due to the stress I'm sure but trying to stay as calm as possible. I just am at a loss right now.
I did get one piece of good news today...I passed the 3 hour.

@JennyLayneAZ: I am so sorry for your loss! It sounds like it was unexpected. Are you able to take some time for yourself now (not work)? Or would staying busy help?
Congratulations on passing the 3 hour test. It will make these last weeks easier not to have to test your sugars all the time and be able to eat more of what you want.

@jh524: I am trying to keep up with the 3 times a week aerobics class but it has been hard because of various illnesses at home and the bad weather. I usually feel great during the class but then more sore in the lower half of my body that day. Overall though the more I stick with working out, the less back pain I have so hopefully I can stick with it for the next 11 weeks.

@autumnleaves: good job! What type of aerobic class do you do?
In the same situation over here! My toddler came down with croup again last night. I had to take him to the ER. He got a steroid shot the helped. Poor lil dude can't catch a break lately.

@jh524: I'm worried about getting pushed into a c-section because I'm high risk. I'm going to push for a vaginal delivery unless a c-section is medically needed though. I'm not sure about the rest of it. We have our birthing class this week and our hospital tour the following week, so I'l make up my mind afterwards about everything else. I can't believe we are this far!
@JennyLayneAZ: I'm so sorry hon. Take care of yourself.
@jh524: Haha, no working out for me. I keep on intending to get back in the groove at the gym, but I'm always too tired after a long day on my feet! All I want to do is go home and sit.

@AMommyThang: Only 47 days, that's crazy!
My growth scan was yesterday. Baby Little Foot was measuring 3lbs 10 oz at 30 weeks and 6 days. S/he was face down pretty far into my pubic cavity. So far, so good. S/he had it's hands infant of it's face again, for the third ultrasound in a row! But we got better 3D pictures this time than last time. Next time I'm thinking about having a cup of coffee a half hour before the ultrasound to see if I can get my LO to move his or her hands!

@auggiefrog: Awesome pic! Wow!
@jh524: I've had the flu jab and I'm getting whooping cough soon. As for working out - hahaha, no! I didn't work out before!
@JennyLayneAZ: I'm so sorry to hear this.
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Its hard when you don't want any negative thoughts to creep in, to mentally prepare for possibilities like it might actually be painful (but of course its not) and you might decide you want pain relief (but of course you wont). But having such high expectations leaves some people at risk of disappointment. I think the important thing to remember is that your birth will be beautiful no matter what it looks like. I had a pitocin induced, precipitous delivery with no proper pain relief (no time). It hurt like a bastard (yours wont of course) and I was terrified (you wont be) but the techniques i read about in my hypnobirthing book really, really helped.

@autumnleaves: @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: @mamabolt: @jh524: @bloved: @Canoli: @auggiefrog: @Cherrybee: thanks ladies. Yes it was unexpected. She has been sick off and on with pneumonia and she had bad lungs. Cause of death is a heart attack. I didn't get a ton of sleep last night (uh it's about 445 am right now and I've been awake for an hour already) but I did get some rest and the Braxton hicks went away. I'm not going to work today.

@auggiefrog: awe the picture is so sweet! I wish I could see my lo again before birth day. I wonder if I can ask for a ultrasound to see his size are you working full time in your feet?!
@JennyLayneAZ: so sorry we've been through the same thing a few years ago when my FIL suddenly passed. Please take care of yourself and try to relax and not stress as much as possible. I know how hard it is.

@jh524: does walking count as a workout? I've been meaning to go to prenatal yoga at my hospital. I *think* when we spring forward I'll get my will to do stuff after 6 pm. Right now it's so dark & cold out.

@auggiefrog: good for you! When will
You start your maternity leave ?
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: oh when do we spring forward ? Is it that time already ?! Of course walking counts as exercise. Anything that elevates your heart rate and helps strengthen those muscles !!

So, exhausted tonight. Picked up LO on my lunch break and brought her to work with me for the afternoon as I helped host a family party for our office. It was awesome but our cookie decorating booth was definitely the busiest. Had a few contractions on the way home, so blurgh.
Work and I agreed to start my leave March 14th, so ready for that.
Weekly NST's start tomorrow, but depending what they show, may become twice weekly.

@jh524: Ahh, if exercise is something that raises your heart rate, I do loads - I walk up the stairs in my house several times a day and I get up off the floor after playing with E (gives me palpitations, randomly)

@jh524: I love jazzercise. There are so many other types of aerobics/exercise classes I'd like to try. Maybe once I recover from this pregnancy I'll take advantage of some free classes.
I hope your LO is feeling better. We haven't been to the ER yet but I know it's coming.

@auggiefrog: awesome ultrasound! I had one in my 3rd tri with LO1 and it's amazing to look at the photos of that and the first photos after he was born and see how much detail is in the US.

@auggiefrog: I love the 3D ultrasound. Last pregnancy the tech nicely did one for me and I agree with @autumnleaves: that I loved comparing it to what he actually looked like when he arrived. I go for my 32 week ultrasound soon and I am hoping they will do one then.
@Cherrybee: haha! You and I have the same workout routine!

How is everyone's weekend going? Hopefully we are getting a little pampered
I told DH during the week that I wanted chocolate covered strawberries for V Day and he remembered (yea!) - instead of going on our Target shopping center errand run yesterday, we went to our little downtown and he bought the chocolate covered strawberries at the chocolate shop along with flowers from the local florist.
And today - we actually ordered a glider. We had been looking forever and with it being President's Day weekend - we thought if we couldn't find a used one we like this was the weekend to buy a new one. They said it will take 8 weeks so hopefully LO2 will be right on time (due in 10 weeks).

@autumnleaves: Chocolate covered strawberries, yum, yum! I bought some big strawberries I was going to dip in chocolate but I haven't yet. Maybe tonight.
@bloved: It will be interesting to see how much the baby looks like the ultrasound. Good luck and I hope you can get a peek.
@autumnleaves: Definitely! It's crazy how much you can see from the 3D ultrasounds.
@MaisyMay: How nice getting to go out in mid-March. I'm planning on making it until I deliver in early to mid April. So far I've been holding up well at work though.
@jh524: Officially on my FMLA paperwork it says April 10th I think, with my due date being on the 13th. I'm hoping to pop this one out a little early though, but we will see what happens.
My parents came down and we got up our kitchen door today. We gutted out our kitchen two summers ago and still have a few things that never completed like the door, time, and tiling. We would love to finish it before the baby comes, but we are running out of time.

DH does a pretty good job every Valentine's Day! We saw Disney's Cirque de Soleil show on Friday night at followed by caramel apples for me & peanut butter fudge for DH. Then, when we got home Saturday morning my gift of 2 dozen roses & chocolate covered strawberries were waiting. This year DH also bought a trio of dipped cheesecakes, which he has managed to eat most of haha! Last night we had dinner at our favorite restuarant. Today, we've just hung out at home.
Here's some of our delicious dinner...duck confit croquettes with a black rice and hearts of palm salad and for dessert a strawberry mousse shortbread tart w/ strawberry salsa and a chocolate pudding tart w/ crunchy chocolate stuff and marshmallows!

@auggiefrog: even though my due date is 4/6, based on the doctor's plans, it sounds like our induction will be somewhere between 3/23 and 3/30, so a little bit of relax time will be great.

@Cherrybee: lol too funny!!!!!
@autumnleaves: I didn't know jazzercise classes still existed?! I'm having flashbacks of full body leotards
My little guy is improving, thanks for asking! He had croup & pink eye....worst weekend of my life. And now I'm getting the cold. But on a positive note, I got my hair done yesterday and I've had lots of desserts & chocolate to lift my spirits
pear / 1622 posts
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: that looks and sounds delicious!
@MaisyMay: wow March 23 seems right around the corner!
@jh524: going to the salon is such a treat! I've booked 2 more appointments before my due date. I hope to make them. I think I may be getting the bug my LO had on Thurs/Fri. I am hoping this is the last of the illnesses for awhile.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6703 posts
@autumnleaves: yeah, but at 32.5 weeks, the little guy is starting to give me some serious discomfort, and there are so many appointments coming up. I have an nst weekly (at least a hour total) through 36 weeks, and then twice weekly through the induction, a growth scan this week and again at 36 weeks, a doctor's appointment at 34 weeks, then 36 and weekly after, plus weekly phone appointments and at least one more round of blood work. This, in conjunction to commuting an hour each way, working 32 hours a week, having a three year old, it is all making me exhausted. This gentleman moves so much and makes me ache.
I know other moms here are in similarly busy situations.
papaya / 10570 posts
@MaisyMay: Its a full time job just keeping up with the medical stuff etc isn't it?! What with all the appointments (diabetes team, obstetrician, scans, midwife, psychologist for my antenatal anxiety - we haven't even got to NSTs yet), ordering and collecting repeat prescriptions between then (I have to order them from my GP), testing blood sugar an hour after eating - its such a juggling act with working / commuting / parenting a toddler!
persimmon / 1114 posts
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: oh what a nice Valentine's Day! Looks delicious!
@MaisyMay: holy busy schedule! I agree that the toddler makes everything so much more difficult. I'm so excited to finally be 30 weeks and done being pregnant soon (although I don't know in what delusional world I think having 2 actual kids will be easier!)
Have a prenatal massage scheduled for next weekend. I've never had one before and have heard mixed things about them, but am really hoping it is good/relaxing. I feel like I have not slept well in forever (hmm...about 30 weeks?) and my back/neck is all knots and aches.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6703 posts
@Cherrybee: yup, I didn't even list the daily diabetes stuff.
I am really proud that I have only called out from work 2 days in the last 7 months. I have been getting some flack from the lady who does our scheduling at work. She just genuinely just doesn't try to understand why I can't give her a list of every day that I need off weeks in advance. My boss and HR are cool with it, but she keeps wanting to know why I only want to work 4 days a week, or why she can't schedule me just whenever.

@bloved: loved my prenatal massages a few weeks ago. Definitely going for 1-2 more this pregnancy.

Is anyone else having heartburn? With my last pregnancy I had it so bad in the third trimester it would wake me up at night and it happened last night. Ugh it was so painful, I had to "sleep" sitting up and today I'm just a grumpy, tired mess!
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6703 posts
@Canoli: yup. I didn't feel it as much with LO1, but got a lovely round last night. Just got comfy in bed and the little guy stayed kicking my stomach and heartburn started almost immediately in conjunction with nausea. I say up in bed abs started saying "nope, can't do this, nuh-uh" and DH just laughed at me.
Have you eaten anything recently that you just knew you would regret and we're pleasantly surprised to not get heartburn? I had some great crab nachos yesterday and they settled just fine.
persimmon / 1114 posts
@Canoli: omg so much heartburn. The old wives tale is that heartburn indicates your baby will have a lot of hair, so I was just joking this weekend that I must be giving birth to a Wookie!!
persimmon / 1458 posts
@MaisyMay: I usually have a bedtime snack of something sweet and sometimes I will get heartburn and other times I won't. However, peanut butter gives me instant heartburn day or night which is so upsetting because I looooove it!
@bloved: ha, I hear ya!
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
@bloved: lol
I've sporadic bouts of heartburn after eating spaghetti or Mexican. During our last ultrasound the tech pointed out the baby has hair. I couldn't believe it since I was bald. We'll see if he sheds it by birth.
