@MaisyMay: I love the dr office that I go to but I picked up quickly that they never ask me how I am feeling. It's always do you have any questions for us or they'll ask the questions like have you experienced swelling recently. I think if they asked how I felt - they would get an earful from me that they don't have time for.
Hang in there - the light is at the end of the tunnel! Pregnancy has been rougher for me too this time around - more soreness, more back aches, able to do less physical activity. But we're close to the end

@MaisyMay: @autumnleaves: it really sucks when your doctor has heard it all and seen it all and therefore is dismissive about what's happening to the person in front of them My doctor's (I rotate among 5) always seem to be in a rush with me. All of the doctors ask me how I'm feeling and then give me straight to the point advice to relieve any discomfort. One of the doctor's I swear totally jinxed me when he said now I would get reflux. I had it maybe 2 or 3 times before that visit, but after I had it for a week straight.

@MaisyMay: I'm sorry to hear you're so uncomfortable. You are soooo close. Hang in there! And speak up if you're really not feeling well. Feeling nauseous on top of everything else is awful, and even if your blood pressure is normal, their job is to listen to your discomfort and concerns and offer suggestions. My OB is also seemingly always in a rush. She will spend the time with me, but she talks SO FAST and she is always at least 30 min behind with patients.

Unrelated quick q - Did anyone's baby kicks get pretty uncomfortable around week 30? I'm sitting here at my desk and gasping every few minutes when she kicks me in the gut. Not painful per se, but very very strange (I'm a FTM so this is all strange - but wonderful! - to me) . And of course I'm dying to know what her position is... like was that a kick? Punch? Elbow jab?

Just left my 34 week appt. I am 34.4 weeks pregnant and measuring 39 weeks! and that feels about right. Bp still good at 116/76 and I've gained a total of 8 pounds.

I straight up told my doctor that once I hit 37 weeks I am going to be doing everything in the book to induce labor. I'm 5'1 I do not want to be carrying a 10 pound baby around.

@YogiRunner: totally! He throws jabs all the time.

@AMommyThang: another big baby glad everything else is going well!

@YogiRunner: yes! I am 31+5 and she will hit a nerve sometimes down low that hurts/tickles in my lower abdomen. Ask your dr at your next appointment whether your babe is head down or not, they can tell from feeling your stomach, then you'll know if its her hands or feet

My appt went well. Measuring right on next appt in 2 weeks we get to see baby. I can't wait! I asked and my Dr said that's fine.

Q- when I sleep on my side, I am practically laying on baby because he likes to hang out transverse which is making this very uncomfortable. I'm worried I'm hurting him! It feels like I lay on him. And it pinches when I bend over. anyone else feel like this? And it's so painful to even be sitting.... This scares me because I have quite a few weeks left!

Oh and Baby boys birthday is scheduled for April 11th!!!

32 weeks today! I go on maternity leave in 2 weeks and I cant wait - I don't feel mentally prepared for this baby at all and really need some time to nest; cleaning and organising my house is how I process things.

I've got another growth scan today..... Lets see how this baby is cooking!

@Cherrybee: yay! Making progress! I just started my leave today from the gym I instruct at! It's exciting! It'll be here so soon hope your appt. goes great!!

So.... I had my appointment. Baby has grown loads in the last 4 weeks and went from 50th centile to off the bloody charts. Estimated weight 5lb at 32 weeks. Given that they were super concerned that LO1 was small for gestational age and so they've had me taking aspirin to improve blood flow to the placenta, I'm shocked to discover that macrosomia is now our major concern. Ugh. I'm just telling myself that their measurements are usually way off anyway!

  11. jh524

    pear / 1632 posts

@Cherrybee: what?! Wow! How much bigger are you from last time? I'm sure baby is perfect. It's so hard for them to get accurate measurements, it'll be interesting to see what size baby actually is when you deliver.

  12. Cherrybee

    papaya / 10570 posts

@jh524: I think I was physically bigger last time. I was diagnosed with GD at 30 weeks and had already gained a lot of weight during my pregnancy. My bump was huge. This time, I was diagnosed at 16 weeks and am currently only 5lb above pre-pregnancy weight. My bump is big, but neat - if you know what I mean? Its measuring 32", right on target. We were expecting a big baby last time but got a 5lb 15oz tiddler at 39 weeks..... so maybe the measurements are just off?

So some of those weirder big movements actually turned out to be mini contractions due to an irritated uterus and dehydration. I didn't notice until I was hooked up to the monitor at my 30 week appointment and then had to be admitted to the hospital to make sure they didn't lead to early labor. After hours of monitoring, tests, and drinking TONS of water and juice, they finally calmed down. I feel like this must go undiagnosed all the time, it really just felt like baby twisting or balling up, not even close to what my doc told me to look out for (whole uterus hardening up). All is totally fine, but weird right? So now I'm drinking alllll the liquid.

@YogiRunner: Oh wow, that's really scary. I'm glad you're ok.

  15. jh524

    pear / 1632 posts

@Cherrybee: I remember that. Well that would be quite a difference to have a 5 lb baby and then a larger than 8 lb baby? Do you take blood sugar every day?

@YogiRunner: I feel like I had a strange "balling up" tight contraction this afternoon. It hurrrrt! But only happened one time. Hope everything is alright! Glad you got checked out!

@Cherrybee: ugh it seems like our April board is destined for big babies. But after googling macrosomia like crazy (and my own experience from my first) it really does seem that these measurements are so inaccurate! It makes me feel like we may be better off with less monitoring later on bc sometimes it feels like we are chasing trouble.

@YogiRunner: oh wow! Glad everything was ok!

How is everyone feeling? Anyone else have incredible swelling? Yesterday my feet decided to just balloon up...they look like they belong to someone 3 times my size! I called my doctor bc it was so sudden (and worried it was a symptom of the high amniotic fluid) and they had me come it. Apparently I've gained 6 pounds in 2 weeks and the doctor thinks it is all water weight. I am supposed to keep my feet elevated and stay off them as much as possible...not so easy as a teacher/mom of a 2.5 year old!!

I am so excited that it is March tomorrow! It makes these babies coming seem SO close and I can't wait!

@bloved: I can not believe our babies are going to be here soon. I guess because I already have 2 LO's I just haven't really had time to pay attention to this pregnancy as much. This pregnancy has been harder for me and I think it's because I am carrying lower this time and I feel like I am going to have another big baby. My belly just feels so heavy! I'm exhausted!

  18. MrsRoo

    pear / 1642 posts

@Cherrybee: @bloved: you guys are spot on- us measurements get less accurate the farther from 20 weeks you get- all the calculations on our machines are constructed around a 20 week fetus (the normal time for anatomy scans. There is quite a margin of error on estimated weights later on in pregnancy. Especially if you have a lot of fluid.

Also- yes my feet started ballooning up this week too! My OB wasn't concerned because my bp is still pretty low, but the sweeping seems to be worse every day since my appt, so who knows what she will say in a few weeks!

My feet were crazy swollen today as well. I got to sit for two hours (my lunch break and teacher planning time) towards the end of my work day and I had a hard time moving around after I had to get back up again.

I had my baby shower yesterday. It was a nice time, pretty laid back. We ate, decorated baby blocks and opened presents. I got a ton of crocheted, knitted, and quilted blankets, and no diapers!

I also found our bassinet. I was with my sister Friday night purchasing food for the shower when we ended up at a Target. We decided to walk through the baby section and I noticed they had a Halo Swivel bassinet that someone must have brought back for about $60 off the original price. I decided to wait until after my shower and go and see if it was still there assuming I didn't get a bassinet. Of course I didn't, and luckily it was still there. I'm so excited. It's perfect for the non-existent space in our bedroom.

I have another growth scan tomorrow. I'm going to try to get this little one moving a little bit this time so we can possibly get a better picture of his or her face.

  20. bloved

    persimmon / 1114 posts

@auggiefrog: oh I am jealous! I want that bassinet; what a good find!

I am so seriously unprepared for this baby. I think it is because it's another boy, I've kind of felt like, "oh well, we already have everything." But now it's March and I realize even if we have everything, I still need to find where we have it, clean it and organize it! Plus I do want to get a bassinet, new bottle nipples, etc. Hoping maybe this weekend I can get out and go window shopping/purchasing for baby stuff and dh can start pulling the things out of the attic.

    1.5 months left!

@auggiefrog: good deal on the bassinet! Any pics from your shower you'd care to share?

@Canoli: @bloved: I don't have anything to compare this pregnancy to, but my belly's weight seems to be really heavy. At home when I sit my belly practically touches the seat. I can't sit like that at work unfortunately.

Either the baby is way more active and stretching out more or he's moved positions. I hope he's still facing down. We'll see on Friday at our growth ultrasound.

@YogiRunner: so glad you're doing better! I didn't realize there was such a negative consequence to not drinking a ton of water at this point.

@auggiefrog: we had our shower on 2/21, small since it is LO2, even though different gender, and I think my favorite part was watching LO1 be so excited about celebrating her brother. She ran around giving people cake, helped me open presents, even drew on the back of some of the thank you cards.

@bloved: Had my growth scan 1 1/2 weeks ago, estimating 8-9 pounds. LO1 was 7 pounds, 3, and I have been saying this one feels bigger. I have another scan on 38w to check again and we will use that too sweet up the induction.

Some swelling, lots of discomfort. This morning the top of my bump hurts and I have had a lot of nausea. Lay night I had the weirdest shooting pain from near my belly button towards my derriere, with a lot of rectal pressure, not like any contraction I have ever felt. After a 2 a.m. pull up up change for my toddler, I had a lot of belly discomfort too, hard time laying back down. My nst was yesterday and nothing was off, so I am not too concerned, but it was really odd and intense.

@bloved: and yes to all of this! I'm going on my third boy so I have all the stuff but I realized too that I have to get it all out and washed and organized! I just said to my husband last night as I was looking at coupons "oh, I guess we should have bought diapers for the baby when we bought diapers over the weekend for N (my middle son)." It didn't even occur to me at the store. Oops!

I guess I'm getting really good at nesting because pink eye has plagued our house. My husband had a few days off last week to paint our spare bedroom for our oldest to move into it. He has picked up a lot of slack because of my big old pregnant self so I treated him to a massage on Thursday. Immediately after his eye started bothering him and by dinner his eye was swollen suck, red, and a goopy mess. He went to urgent care and got drops for it. So I have been a disinfecting fool for days washing blankets, sheets, towels and using antibacterial wipes on everything and anything. We made it through the weekend with no one else getting it so I figured we were in the clear. But, my oldest wakes up this morning complaining his eye hurt and it was crusty and red! Ugh so we start drops for him and I'm back to being a disinfecting crazy mama again! Ugh!

Here are some pics from my baby shower. My Mom decorated the cake, and she did a great job!
Baby is right on track, but is breach. So my goal for the next two weeks is to flip this baby and keep it there! There weren't any good pics, but we did get to see the face a little bit in 3D when s/he started moving it's hand back and forth.

@auggiefrog: what a beautiful cake and you look great! We are throwing my friend a shower who is due early April with her first. She's gluten free so I made a GF carrot cake this weekend and tested it with my coworkers. Taste was good but I wish I had better cake decorating skills.

Hi ladies. Sorry I've been MIA lately! So glad February is behind us, what a shifty month it turned out to be. There was way too much discussed in my absence for me to reply to you all but I have been following along silently!

My updates: my feet are pretty much swollen all the time now but get worse as the week goes on. I'm training my second temp at work...the first didn't work out and this one is questionable had my 32 week appointment today it went well. Dr doesn't think I will go past my EDD and thinks Piper will be larger than average lol. Oh and I have a head cold again. So I feel like crap. My baby shower is on Saturday so hopefully I will feel better before then! I think that's all for now!

@auggiefrog: cute pics! Love the owl cake

@JennyLayneAZ: cute name, love it! How long do you plan on working?

@Cherrybee: oh my gosh!!! They're coming!!!!!

@Canoli: wash, wash, wash your hands and disinfect constantly!! Just went through pink eye a few weeks ago, what a pain in the butt! Hope you don't get it!!! Those drops are life savers though. Good luck!!

I feel so huge! I can hardly sit or sleep without being totally uncomfortable. I'm resorting to living in sweats & a tank top now. I cannot wear anything else comfortably anymore so I give up!

@jh524: thank you I will work until I go into labor...unfortunately lol but apparently finding someone to fill in is proving to be harder than I thought. I guess we all underestimate ourselves in one way or another, right?

I also feel huge and my ab muscles feel tired when I wake up to switch sides in the middle of the night lol I would love to live in shorts and tank tops but I didn't buy any shorts! It wasn't supposed to be this hot already! I was robbed of winter this year!

@auggiefrog: You look great and I love the blocks! What a cute idea!
@JennyLayneAZ: Sorry you are not feeling well and things have been crazy. Hopefully it all turns around soon!

AFM, I had my follow up today. Amniotic fluid was down to 26 from 27 which they said doesn't mean anything, but I think is good (5-25 is normal range so I feel like I am basically there). I had to do a non-stress test and apparently was contracting every 4 minutes (news to me...kind of embarrassing, but I just thought that is what baby moving felt like). Anyhow, I had to go to my regular dr and get a cervix check. Thankfully it is still closed.

The bad news is they still want me to do the u/s and non-stress test weekly, but they really only offer it during school hours. I don't understand how I am going to juggle. Add to that, at 36 weeks it is twice-a-week. But they are also talking about me going on disability early because of the swelling, polyhydraminos, ama, etc and said we will take it week-by-week. I am just frustrated because it is my first year at this job and hate that I might miss so much work. Of course, baby comes first, but I can't help but feel like all of this is an over reaction (especially because my fluid level was lower today).

@bloved: Ugh, sorry to hear that. That's exactly what happened to me with my NST at 30 weeks, they saw contractions which I hadn't felt at ALL. After hours of monitoring, cervix check, and fFN test at the hospital they sent me home saying I was dehydrated. But I'll bet they're more cautious since you're so much closer to your due date. A few weeks off work shouldn't mean much in the long run for your new job, but I totally get it. Hang in there.

  35. Cherrybee

    papaya / 10570 posts

@bloved: Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that. What a lot of drama, huh? Better safe than sorry though, I guess.

You guys, I'm having really intense Braxton Hicks today. I never had them with my first and never felt a normal contraction because I was induced with the drip and went into a fast and furious labour from the get-go. They're about every 10mins and last 2mins each. Changing positions doesn't make them stop, but drinking water has reduced the intensity. I'm hoping they stop this evening, otherwise its off to the hospital I go to be checked.

  36. bloved

    persimmon / 1114 posts

@YogiRunner: @Cherrybee: thanks for the support ladies. I know the baby has to come first, it is just stressful trying to juggle everything!

@Cherrybee: yikes! I hope the subside and you are feeling better. Keep us posted.

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@bloved: sorry you're having to deal with that, it sounds stressful!

@Cherrybee: I hope the contractions stopped!

I've been having Braxton hicks for a while now but they make me nauseous sometimes! I don't remember who said they thought their contractions were baby flipping but I totally thought that too at first until the nurse told me it was most likely Braxton hicks. Lol

  38. auggiefrog

    kiwi / 631 posts

@Cherrybee: I'm sorry hon. I hope they got better.

@bloved: Dealing with all of this sounds frustrating and stressful. And I hate how some of these places have such limited hours! Luckily I've been doing pretty good at scheduling my OB appointments and growth scans on my half days, but I can't imagine how difficult it would be if I didn't have that. I hope everything goes well for you in the next few weeks.

@JennyLayneAZ: I feel you on the swallon-ness. I had to buy bigger shoes for work, and some days my feet are just bursting out of those! I'm glad you are starting to feel better and that everything pregnancy wise is going well for you. Have a great shower!

I had a growth scan yesterday, along with my regular prenatal appointment. Growth is right on track, but baby is breach. My doctor at Maternal Fetal Concerns wants to schedule me for a C-section of the baby hasn't turned by my next scan in three weeks. My doctor said that she could refer me to another OB to try and manually turn the baby before scheduling and c-section. I would prefer this, but the doctor at MFC doesn't want to risk any complications (but my next prenatal is in two weeks, so I'll see my regular doctor first). SO I'm going to be working my but off trying to get this baby in position, and keep this baby in position over the next two weeks. The problem is that it's still changing positions fairly often. When should s/he get in final position?

  39. JennyLayneAZ

@auggiefrog: I'm lucky that I can wear flip flops at work so I'm living in them! (AZ is pretty casual overall and I work in a construction office with virtually no dress code). I hope you have luck flipping baby! I have no idea when they should be in position. Piper has been head down since my 28 week appointment, so hopefully she stays that way (I have no idea when she flipped originally).
