Ok ok, so I know it's early, but I wanted to make a board to start putting nursery ideas! Anyone have a theme or color scheme in mind yet?

Ohhh fun!!! We're thinking floral theme if it's a girl and little Indian theme if it's a boy!

I'm looking forward to seeing ideas!
Our plan is to put baby in my dressing room for the first 6 months or so, it's small but has windows and a closet so it is a real bedroom. I think we'll keep it very simple then work on decorating a longer term room after the baby is here- with all the free time we'll have with 2 kids. The temporary nursery is pink and will remain pink regardless but I might get more into girly stuff if the baby is a girl!

If baby is a girl I want a cute little sheep theme. If it's a boy maybe anchors. I have no idea. I won't have a real nursery. The baby will share a room with one of the kids. Not sure which one yet. Lol. But in the beginning the baby will room with us in a bassinet.

LO3 will be going in DS1's room. (DS1 is moving into a room with DS2) So, it'll be easy if it's a boy - we won't have to do anything. Just add a crib. The room doesn't have a theme, per se, just a modern bright color scheme. We wouldn't even need crib sheets or anything.
Is LO3 is a girl, we will be keeping the main color the same (gray) and repaint the accents (they're currently blue, green, and orange). I'm thinking a swan lake/ballet theme.

We're going to keep the nursery mostly the same and move DS to a new big boy room. The nursery is currently themed "The Little Prince," with stars, sheep, a plane, a fox etc. (It sounds crazy if you haven't read the book - which you need to do NOW if that's the case). If this LO is a boy it'll stay the same, but we plan to add roses in if its a girl

@JennyPenny: Cute! Love the little prince. By the way, did you see the Netflix version?
nectarine / 2460 posts
@ValentineMommy: yep! I thought it was really well done and loved how they focused on the main themes, but after the fact it occurred to me that it probably doesn't make much sense if you haven't read the book.

@JennyPenny: agree totally on the little prince!
So, now that it's "out" that we are having a girl, we are definitely doing a swan lake/ballet theme. The room will be mostly gray, with a pink stripe up the wall.
nectarine / 2460 posts
@ValentineMommy: Wow! Looks great! Did you make that stripe mock up yourself?
pomelo / 5791 posts
@JennyPenny: I did! The stripe is actually already in the room, but in different colors. It's currently DS1's room (and was his nursery), and he will be moving into DS2's room to share.

Here's a pic of what it looked like when we painted the nursery the first time.

@ValentineMommy: that's so awesome! Also, I'm super jealous of the molding in that room. Swoon...

I've spent way too much of my day updating the nursery design and picking stuff out. I can't wait till the rest of you know the gender and start working on yours too!

In the meantime, I found pics of DS's nursery from just before he was born (ie. before it became overloaded with toys/clothes/etc). So this is our starting point for #2. The majority will stay the same I expect.

@JennyPenny: I love that room color and how the bed looks built in! So cute!!
I picked a crib today, which is nothing like what I originally thought I was going to pick. I'm obsessed with it though!

@ValentineMommy: that's gorgeous!! Gosh, if I have a girl I'm going to have a really hard time not wanting to do a full on nursery!

@psw27: Thank you! It's cheaper than the original white one I had picked, so DH is happy lol! Here's how it's looking now....I'm clearly nursery obsessed right now....

We got our crib! I ended up picking a different one than the metal one posted above, because I found a great sale on a rose gold crib. It's major love!
Anyone else working on their nurseries yet??

We finally started working on our nursery for baby! We're doing a "adventure is out there" theme and decided on a mountain mural for the wall. I painted the whole room gray and the top "sky" yesterday-I think I over did it and am feeling run down today. Here's the start:

@ValentineMommy: thanks! I've worked on it but by bit this week (no school so I actually have time!) and this is where I stopped tonight. Trying to decide on white for the last set or if I should add a hint of blue.

@mrsmacSLP: Love it!! That looks so great!
I just sat down with my planner and obsessively planned out the next few weeks and getting some of her room tackled.
First up - this weekend we need to get DS1 out of there and into DS2's room. It's going to be such a pain though - we're going to need to completely disassemble his bunk bed to move it three feet across the hall (otherwise we can't get it out of the doorway).
Then I have two weeks of painting and stenciling ahead of me! I am so ready to get this moving, before I can't move! Lol

@mrsmacSLP: I LOVE that wall!
I think now that we've found out we're having another girl, we're going for a blush pink, gold, white theme with gold hearts. We have grey walls already and it's the exact same room, just mirrored to DD1. She has a purple accent wall where her bed is so we'll mirror that on baby's wall with a blush pink. This is my inspiration picture.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: love it!! I pinned that picture once we found out we are having a girl too! So pretty!

So, here are the original colors in ds1's nursery, and the colors for dd's new nursery. There's going to be a lace border on the whole thing once it's done, which I couldn't wait to try out. Lol

I'm so glad more of you are also hard at work on the nursery. It took a while for me to get DH into "GO" mode but things are finally moving forward. Last week he took down 100 year old plaster and exposed our original brick.
I also have my inspiration board pieced together and have been buying/making things bit by bit.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: those gold dots are the best. Make sure you get the ones on Amazon instead of paying three times as much for the PBK ones.

@yellowbeach: Love the brick!
@bubblegum: Thank you! I literally gasped when we unboxed it lol!

@ValentineMommy: of course! I can imagine!
Anyone know where I can get peony decals? Pink preferably and not cartoonish. (if that makes sense)

@bubblegum: https://www.etsy.com/listing/235908590/flower-wall-decals-set-of-10-peony

Or search "peony wall decal" on Etsy and there are lots of other options.

Y'all, I'm so excited! Target had such cute stuff in their dollar section that is going to be perfect for baby girl's room! I had to restrain myself because there were so many cute things!
