I had my glucose test on Thursday. I managed not to throw up (like last time) but must have gaged so terribly that the doctor threw up. Twice. Today she told me I passed but she had to take the rest of the day off because she was so sick...
I had some painful contractions but ob said everything looks ok... and I'm so so so happy I haven't started bleeding again!
And yes on the more pregnant thing. All of a sudden my belly seems to be in the way all the time. It also changed somehow... it's harder and feels like the baby will tear it open any moment... I don't remember feeling like this last time....
HG is still under control. Thank god!! But I still cannot eat most things, including meat and my iron is getting lower and lower...

Ok second time mamas, I'm sure you're familiar with the "lightening crotch" term? Have you had this yet? Just new today baby feels like she's totally crushing right on my cervix- the way I felt in the final weeks of DS' pregnancy. Been having some lightening crotch (lord, I hope you know what I mean so I don't seem bat shit crazy right now) this afternoon. To the point where it's uncomfortable when I walk.
Too soon right? Only 27 weeks.. when does baby typically drop the second time around? Ack, I feel like I don't remember anything pregnancy related.

@getjazzy: I'm 26.5 weeks and haven't felt it yet. I remember very clearly experiencing lightning crotch last time because I was like "Oh! THAT'S what that is..." I'm trying to remember when it was. I know I was teaching (so not during the summer) and I was due in mid-Nov, so it couldn't have been earlier than 30 weeks when it started.

@raspberries: Good luck, hope you pass!! And I'm so jealous of your 13 hours! Between work and the toddler, it's almost impossible for me to sleep in, even when I get the chance because my body isn't used to it (like today, I was home alone after DH left and still couldn't sleep past 7:30).

@abmamma: Yay for a good growth scan!! And I totally agree about feeling huge. I was comparing pictures last night and I feel like I look about the same now at 26 weeks that I did last time at 32 weeks (and this baby is smaller!).

@getjazzy: not a second timer, but I had lightening crotch for the first time last night! No mistaking it... It felt I got tased in the cervix! Baby girl kicked me in the right spot and ZAP! Only 25+5 today, so I hope this doesn't become a regular thing! It hurt!

@getjazzy: I haven't had lightening crotch yet but am definitely way more unfomfortable this time already. With DD, I really didn't have many aches and pains until the last 2-3 weeks but I have lots of really bad round ligament pain-- often makes walking difficult. My OB said as long as there is no bleeding, it's normal. And I've heard it can be worse second+ pregnancies. Maybe the lightening crotch is wrapped up in that too?

@lil owl: Ugh, mine feels like that too. Like it's suddenly harder and tighter, and there's no room for LO. I cleaned the guest bathroom last week with no issues. I need to clean the master bath this week, and I'm dreading it because I can't see how I'm going to bend properly to get to everything. What happened?!
Boobs are officially leaking. Not quite enough to bother with nursing pads, but enough I'll have to get some more bras so I can wash them more frequently. The weird (to me) part is that they're only leaking from the old piercing holes. I took the jewelry out right at 2 years ago, but they never fully closed. They definitely leaked out of those holes when my milk came in last time, so that's not surprising in itself, but it seems odd that it's ONLY out of them.

@Torchwood: wow crazy about your boobs! or maybe just crazy to me bc my A-cup boobies still haven't changed a bit! Nipples are darker yeah I guess, but that's it! Ppl keep assuring me it doesn't mean I'll have issues breastfeeding but I still get worried! Come on boobs!!!

@getjazzy: ugh I had the lightning crotch and have had it once or twice with this baby. I don't remember when it started last time though.

@buttermilk: HAHA! I have no idea how it works but it feels like baby kicks or hits a nerve and it is like a zap type "lightening" pain that shoots through your crotch area!
pear / 1955 posts
@lilteacherbee: Thanks! I'm trying to sleep as much as possible these days since I know it'll disappear as soon as this little one gets here!
@buttermilk: In the same boat as you... I don't think I want to know!

@buttermilk: Kinda like if your cervix licked a 9 volt battery? LOL!! Just a little zap sensation. Starts happening when your baby is resting on your cervix and starting to promote the thinning. I assume like kjpugs said, it's a nerve thing.

@getjazzy: @kjpugs: wow guys thanks. I'll report back when I get my first ZAP!

So my MFM appointment went well! Baby is measuring right on track and is estimated at 2lb 1oz. No concerning issues such as anemia or hydrops, which could be caused by the antibody I have. Last time, the labs came back super low (which is good), so I'll have them rechecked again next week. I have another ultrasound at MFM June 9th and a regular OB appointment next Wednesday (glucose test...woohoo)!

@getjazzy: like your cervix licked a 9volt battery!! Bahahahaha! Hilarious.
I never had lightening crotch.
@buttermilk don't worry! Plenty of women successfully breastfeed with small breasts!

Oh, one positive symptom change, in this litany of things that are bothering me- I'm starting to run hotter than usual. I know most people don't like that, but I'm normally SO cold all the time that it's one of the things I love about being pregnant. I'm finally warm!

@Torchwood: I have old piercing holes too and I'm wondering how that will turn out when I start leaking and when my milk comes in. The lady at the piercing place when I had it done told me that her pierced side actually had better flow.
In other news, I think I've had a little growth spurt over the last week and my belly button is sore. My whole belly just feels stretched!

@Torchwood: I'm warm too... Great for day, bad for night! I've been getting so sweaty... Thank goodness for air conditioning or else this summer would be rough! I don't know how you east coast and southern ladies can handle the humidity. I would melt, even not pregnant! And I used to live in Phoenix, but dry heat is totally different!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Torchwood: Totally agree about being warm! I'm usually cold all the time (even though I live where it's hot most of the year), but now I'm actually comfortable!

I decided to go for a double we found an excellent deal on a City Select on Craigs List.
I had a stomach bug on Monday and horrible acid reflux which might have caused the vomiting. Ugh just awful.
I also feel way bigger this pregnancy than my last pregnancy. Ugh and I won't be 28 weeks unail Thursday.

Well, today's update - went for my follow up with the OB and had an u/s. My cervix is dramatically shorter and funneling, so I guess all those contractions were doing something. So, I have earned strict bedrest and I see the perinatologist tomorrow to see what he wants to do. Ugggh!
On the bright side, they got a new ultrasound machine at my OB's office, and the lady from GE was there training the ultrasound tech. She said "Why don't we try out the 3d?" So I got an amazing 3D pic of his face!! I will post from my phone.

@MrsADS: oh no- I hope the bed rest helps and the appointment tomorrow goes well. Is your DH back in town? On the positive- what a sweet little face! Stay in there little guy!

@MrsADS: Awww!! I love that! He looks so sweet The 3D pics are the best! I got one yesterday at my appointment and posted a comparison of my first LO around the same time. #1 is on the left and #2 is on the right.
How far along are you now? I'm sorry you're going through this I know it's super scary. Hopefully, the bed rest helps and the doctor tomorrow will have a good plan. Thinking of and praying for you

@getjazzy: I have never heard of lightning crotch, and I'm a second time mama! Sounds painful!
@lilteacherbee: Yay for a good appointment!
@MrsADS: Sorry to hear about the bedrest. Your baby looks so cute though

@MrsADS: I'm sorry about the bed rest mama!! Good opportunity to catch up on some netflix and cook that baby a little longer! I will keep my fingers crossed that your cervix stays put as is!

In a total win, I tried on my bikinis today to see if they fit before our babymoon in three weeks... And they all fit! And looked cute! My cover ups fit too, as well as a few sundresses I have. So I don't have to spend money on a maternity suit I will only wear once or twice. I don't mind showing off the bare bump, so total win!
pear / 1955 posts
@Mrs. Microscope: Heck yeah, mama! Good for you! I ended up having to buy a maternity suit since my boobs are so humongous these days, but I wish I could've rocked the bump!
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Mrs. Microscope: I totally wore a bikini with my son too! Granted, I wasn't so far along last time (he's a Nov baby), but I didn't care about baring my bump. If men with bellies can do it...lol
pear / 1788 posts
@raspberries: I'm lucky my boobs aren't too out of control yet! I did try on one dress i have and it is not appropriate for public but the others are cute. Glad you got a suit that looked good, that's what matters most!
@Mrs. J: good to know I'm not the only bump baring mama! I know it's not for everyone and I hope I don't get funny looks at the pool!
nectarine / 2086 posts
@Mrs. Microscope: I haven't tried yet, but hoping I can wear a super ruched one piece thst I already have!!
