Definitely I did. Have you read Expecting Better? I had a small glass of white wine probably once a week.

I had occasional beer and wine after the first trimester and baby is a giant and healthy 4 month old

I didn’t but my sister had a glass of wine once per week and her baby (1 yo) is totally fine.

I didn't because various health issues and medicines already could have put baby at risk and I didnt want to add to it.

I did so a couple of times during my second pregnancy. But only a tiny amount and it was because of work parties. I still hadn't told my work. My girl seems to be smarter than my first, so no ill affects on her!

Not really for first baby. 2nd baby yes. Maybe a couple times a month if out to dinner or at a party I’d have a glass of wine or a beer. And once a weak margarita that I sipped slowly over the course of 2 hours.
I was told as long as I didn’t feel drunk it was fine. I never even felt buzzed with any of those drinks. If I felt even the slightest hint I stopped.

Yes-a glass a month maybe? Then in 3rd maybe a little more-by 34 weeks i had wine like once a week.

I had a glass of wine about every other week throughout both pregnancies. Kiddos (3 and 9 months) are birth perfect.

Not in 3 pregnancies. Just not my jam. I have anxiety though the roof while pregnant.

I had some champagne at my baby shower but it was at 35 weeks! So not in the second tri but I’m quite sure it’s fine.

I had a glass of wine a day for most of my second and third trimester. I did all of the things you aren’t “supposed to do”. I also took care of myself, tried to eat relatively well, sometimes exercised. I have two happy and healthy kids. Maybe I’m lucky, but I also followed more of the European guidelines than US guidelines (I am in the US)

I think the bottom line (and why many medical researchers/doctors I know weren't very happy with the treatment of the topic in expecting better) is that we don't have any evidence about the dose response function to alcohol during pregnancy.
What I mean by this is that different people will respond differently to different doses of alcohol. Same thing with any medicine. Most people could take 6 tylenol and be great but the recommended dose is 2 because some people will have really negative side effects with more than that. We know this because there was a lot of testing, which we just don't have with alcohol. Plenty of people are fine with in it moderation during pregnancy, but some people don't metabolize it as well and then you get into concerns about whether it affects the baby.
I personally don't drink, but I also don't drink much outside of pregnancy either so it's not much of a sacrifice. If I wanted to, I would just start out with a couple of sips, and pay careful attention to how I felt after, and go from there....

I'm not a big drinker to begin with, so I have not for 2 pregnancies and I'm half-way through my 3rd pregnancy and do not plan to.

@periwinklebee: I used to work with a lot of scientists and had this exact conversation with one of them! That we just don’t know, obviously some people drink heavily and their babies are fine and some might drink a smaller amount and have an effect.
I’m also not a big drinker so didn’t mind going cold turkey all 3 times, in fact I can barely handle one drink now a year pp, but I might hesitate more if you’re also already taking some category C medicines and just avoid the risk.

@bhbee: I'm the same way, after not drinking anything during pregnancy/initial bf, the very limited tolerance I had initially was gone. I definitely don't judge anyone who drinks in moderation during pregnancy, but it's not for me...

I didn't during the second trimester because I didn't feel comfortable at that point. I would be having a glass a week now that I'm almost done, but I have gestational diabetes that's been kind of hard to control, so wine is out for the next month or so still

I concur with everything @periwinklebee: said. I did have a few small sips of my husband's wine in the late 2nd trimester/early 3rd (we were in Italy and Portugal) but didn't feel it was worth risking more than a taste. I work in maternal child health research and the unknown dose-response that periwinklebee mentioned is exactly what my colleagues have shared with me very candidly.

i chose not to, but understand why some would chose to have a glass in moderation. that said, i have fostered children and have worked with children with FASD (way more common than one might expect) and it's just not worth the risk. as others have said above, the research is inconclusive as to a safe amount.

Interesting to hear about the criticism of how it was handled in Expecting Better. I did not indulge, mostly because it took 3 years for me to get pregnant and I didn't need a reason to blame myself (any more than I already would) if something had happened. It wasn't worth it to me. Also, I felt crappy the entire pregnancy and didn't have any desire for even a sip.

With my first, I had a two glasses of wine my entire pregnancy (both in the 3rd trimester and I was literally measuring out the quantity in a measuring cup with oz. so I didn't accidentally overpour). With my second, I maybe had three glasses of wine my entire pregnancy starting in the second trimester. I'm now 17 weeks with my third and I've had a couple small glasses of wine after reaching the second trimester. I'll probably continue to have a small glass every few weeks. I know several people who enjoyed a weekly glass of wine throughout their entire pregnancies (each with 2 or 3 kids). I haven't been really been comfortable with drinking much in my earlier pregnancies but I guess I'm a little more lax with the third.

@tysonja: I'm sure you know this, but others might not -
FASD is actually a spectrum. The vast majority of cases are not discovered until school age when the child presents with behavioral problems and/or learning difficulties. So I would take all of the "I drank a glass of wine a day during my pregnancy and my baby turned out fine" anecdotes with a grain of salt. It's just safer to abstain and something easy to prevent. Like @foodiebee: said - it just isn't worth it to me to introduce the uncertainty.
