@snowjewelz: I think 4 weeks might be when it started working more for Xander. Though I can't really remember!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
I think I'm having some evening cluster feedings... I keep reminding myself that they are only so lil for long so I'm trying to soak in and enjoy every moment nursing her!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Cluster feedings can lead into a good stretch of sleep! Fingers crossed!
I'm nervous about tonight. I feel like Logan hasn't eaten enough today, so I think I might be un for a rough night...
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: uhhh me too. I feel like she is not getting enough but I don't want to give her a bottle either cuz I want my body to make more!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Cluster feeding is normal! And her fussy at your breast tells your body to make more milk, so I'd stick with it if you can!

Anyone get nursing headaches? By the end of the evening I guess I'm dehydrated or something Bc I keep getting headaches. I remember this happening with my first too. I drink a ton all day but I think the hourly feeds in the evening are draining me!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: DH just keeps pushing for the bottle even after I explain it to him! It is hard to watch her fuss and cry and appear so hungry
@winniebee: I had a headache but probably from lack of sleep more than anything!

I thought I'd try to sleep without a bra tonight... My side of the bed is soaked in breast milk. Haha!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: I don't get headaches, but I bet yours are due to dehydration because nursing makes me soooo thirsty! The sleep deprivation probably isn't helping either...
@snowjewelz: Ugh, that sucks. My husband used to put a ton of pressure on me too with Xander because he just didn't know what was normal and also hated seeing Xander seem so hungry! Hang in there!
@whenoceansrise: haha, I remember those days! That happened to me a few times with Xander. I'm hoping that it won't happen this time around...

Hey moms! Excited to be joining this board! I've been trying to catch up, but I'm just too far behind.
Where is everyone's Lo sleeping? We tried the bassinet, but cannot get him to sleep any stretch in there, so I've resorted to the swing for now.
Also, how is everyone dealing with the exhaustion- especially those with other kids. How in the world is everyone functioning????
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@whenoceansrise: I sleep bra-less and feed E in bed at night, I just make sure when he nurses one side I have a towel on the other, but I've woken up to wet spots quite a few times!
@ustechie: E sleeps in a rock & play next to our bed, we have a swing but I haven't had much luck getting him to sleep in it during the day.
Exhaustion - I just have E to worry about so its not too bad, I try to sleep in till 9 which gives me 5 2-hour cycles. The past two days I actually got a nap in with E too. So not looking forward to going back to work in 3 weeks already!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: lol! I wear bra or came at all times with nursing pads!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@ustechie: she sleeps in the rock n play but it's been difficult to put her down lately! She sleeps on is a lot during the day and we cosleep at night for now.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: back to work already! I can't even fathom that and I only have 1!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@ustechie: she sleeps in p&p in our room.
Sleep is ok since she is our first, but I truly respect moms with. Multiple kiddos! 1
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ustechie: Logan sleeps in a bassinet, though we put a blanket under part of the mattress to elevate his head. He doesn't seem to like the swing at all. As for exhaustion, I've been going to bed early and sleeping in late! My husband gets up with our toddler so I can get as much sleep as possible. Xander is also still in daycare, so I never have to deal with two kids on my own.
@josina: I can't believe you go back to work in 3 weeks. Do you only have 6 weeks off?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Logan just slept for FOUR hours!!! He woke up hangry, but I feel amazing!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Adira: awww yay!!!! That is great! G slept from 10-1 then about 2:30-5:00 and just passed out in her swing I'm feeling good too, I've never fell asleep with her in the swing but I'm thinking I might close my eyes for a few more!!!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@whenoceansrise: ohhhh man! well at least you know you have a good supply!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: Those are two decent stretches! But yes, go back to sleep!

So tired today.... E did s monster nursing session from 10-12- was up from 2-3, the out neighbors kid was playing music so loud both DH and I were up till 4 ( in his car- right in front of our house- thank goodness the kids didn't wake or I would lost it on him!!) and she woke at 6... So sleepy!!!!!!! We have newborn pictures at our house this morning too
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@cheert16: Yikes! Sorry to hear about your night! Will you maybe be able to nap at some point during the day? Can't wait to see some shots from your newborn photos!
nectarine / 2631 posts
@Adira: Hopefully when b naps this afternoon- e will nap too and then momma can nap!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: yes!! Amazing!!
Got a 3, 1, 2, 1, 2 night and I feel like a new woman!!!!
@ustechie: he sleeps in the rock n play by my bed. Mostly swaddled but the last stretch usually not. I have been barely functioning honestly. My 2.5 year old doesn't really nap anymore (maybe 2x a week) so I have taken 2 naps since R was born. Coffee is my friend.... So is screen time for said toddler. My newborn is not a very good night sleeper so at going on 2 weeks the sleep deprivation is getting pretty real. I'm planning on trying a bottle over the holidays at least once or twice to get some more zzzs.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@cheert16: I agree with @winniebee: cops called ASAP! Hope you get a nap in today!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: I think getting that one long stretch of sleep makes all the difference!! Hope you continue to get at least one 3 hour stretch from here on out!

@ustechie: E is sleeping in a bassinet up in our bedroom. naps are either in there, held by someone, or propped in the boppy next to one of us.
i haven't had to deal with 2 on my own yet. after the holidays, all of our company/help will be gone. i'm nervous about it! K goes to preschool 3 days a week, but DH works long hours and has a couple weeklong international trips, so i'll have plenty of evenings on my own too. i'm REALLY hoping E is somewhat predictable in her eating/sleeping by then!
pomelo / 5298 posts
K sleeps wherever she wants to sleep Last night that meant she screamed/slept with me in the glider from 1 - 4:00. Then she slept in the RnP from about 5 - 7:00. Now she's asleep in her swing. I was really hoping for a good night since she had a lot of awake time yesterday and less gas. Unfortunately her gas all showed up overnight, hence the screamfest.
I'm exhausted and will be hosting/entertaining for the next 1.5 weeks and then after that I have one more week before going back to work.
I'm ready for a routine, I'm not ready to put K in daycare. I'm incredibly nervous about the flu and other germs.
Yesterday was a pretty horrible, sleep deprived day of disasters. The largest of which was dropping my phone while cooking and now the speakers don't seem to work right. We just decided that we were going to hold off on the expense of replacing our phones until it was a necessity. Le sigh! DH seems to think it's just fine, but I can't really hear on the phone.

@Adira: I have 7 weeks off which puts me at Jan. 15th and then I will probably use some PTO from next year the first couple weeks I'm back so that I don't have to work a full week. It's going by way too fast!
E is eating every two hours like clockwork. I suppose the 'schedule' is nice but really need to stretch that out at night!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@MamaG: Not read for daycare either. Luckily my dh has seasonal layoff so he can be home with E for awhile and daycare will be part time. And there are only four full time kids so E won't be exposed to too many germs.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: Hosting and entertaining! I hope you have some help! And don't feel bad if you just need a break at some point! I'm sure people will understand!
I'm sorry about LO & the phone! Just seems like one of those days! I really hope you get a good day/night soon to rest up! I consider it a success if I can even put her down for 10 min to eat, or get on the computer, like now! On top of cluster feeding she seems to have a hard time sleeping. Some days (like now) I can put her down soon after burping but some day she just needs to be held!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: DD still sleeps longer stretches during the day than at night! And I feel like I'm not as good/efficient with her at night since I'm half awake!
DD is signed up for daycare twice a week right now but my mom has a part-time nanny candidate in mind so I might give that try instead... It's def hard to think about Los getting sick more often at daycare, but at the same time I like the security of daycare; with a nanny what would I do if she is sick, suddenly quits, etc?!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: so glad you got some sleep! It's amazing how you can feel like a new woman after just one "long" stretch. Hope he keeps it up!
honeydew / 7283 posts
Our days and nights are full of highs and lows. J screamed all evening like he was having gas pains. Basically cluster fed and screamed from 6-12. I thought I was going to have a panic attack. Then got a good stretch of sleep and I felt amazing! Then we get up and handle the minute to minute highs and lows of a toddler
Now M is napping and J is sleeping on me (he never sleeps anywhere else during the day). At least I can watch bravo tv and pretend the house isn't a disaster
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: Ugh, sorry to hear about your frustrating night!! Logan's pretty gassy too, but usually is okay at night. I'm sorry! I hope your LO gets into a routine for you soon. And bummer about your phone - the same thing happened to mine, but it was soon enough after I bought it that I was able to get it replaced.
@josina: Ugh, 7 weeks is not enough time. I'm sorry!
@MrsF: haha, I've been watching a ton of Bravo while nursing or having Logan sleep on me!
