@MamaG: Cute I love it when they surprise you by memorizing things. J has suddenly started filling in the last word of random songs that I sing at bedtime. I didn't really think he was paying attention!

You guuuyyyys (yes, I'm whining). It begins: I told Jack not to stand on his book a few days ago and he looked at me and said "whyyy?". Ugh. And it's been nonstop since then. I know that it's awesome and wonderful and their little minds are sponges soaking up all this information, but ugh.
I'm pretty sure Molly asks me "why" hundreds of times a day. I'm so not ready for this times two.
It's a good thing they're cute!

@MamaG: Love it! Brown Bear is a favorite of ours too!!!!
@MrsF: Awww "Why?" these babes are so big!
G has started telling me no and Don't with her finger pointed at me
Guess she learned from me and DH
So we have been trying hard to model Please stop or Be careful and such instead of the quick no and dont

@mrsf: uh oh! maybe you can convince M to answer J and keep them both occupied
@mamag: E definitely has her favorites too, and most of them memorized. We have one that we sing the whole thing, and she is hilarious with her "ohhhhhhh" and "hey!" in the appropriate places. haha.

Having a kid that gets randomly carsick makes me never want to leave the house. We were pulling into the parking spot for our last errand today (ordering Cs birthday cake) and K lost it. Cake didn't get ordered today.

@KayKay: I'm working on that! Any time that siblings can entertain each other makes for happy parents
@MamaG: Oh no I had forgotten that she had that issue. That must be horrible!

Usually I'm totally against those squirty bath toys but our sitter bought some for the kids so I didn't think I could toss them. We've had them in the tub less than 2 weeks and I always try to empty them. Tonight I watched M squirt one and big chunks of mold came out. Barf. Just a PSA!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MrsF: Ughhhh awful! I saw a thing on FB about them years ago and I almost barfed, Sorry G no squirt toys for you!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@MrsF: We had them for C, none for K! She has several rubber ducks that she's got from random gifts. They are not bath toys in our house. One of them was found in our bucket of play kitchen toys today

@MrsF: It had been three months! I was hopeful we had turned a corner. I really think it's in part related to the sun. Poor girl. She got really upset today. There really wasnt' much I could do other than wipe down her hands and face and pull her dress off. I told DH just get home! Quick! But no sudden moves, please.
We are debating if putting her front facing would help? At last rear facing the mess is mostly contained to her carseat. As gross as that is!

@MamaG: Ohhh poor girl! The thought of them puking breaks me heart!!!!!
Of course Back to work official day today and G sounds awful
My allergies are awful so I am hoping that is it for her, thankfully DH is off today and tomorrow!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: Yeah - I don't know how they keep making their way into our tub
Oh that's so sad about her being carsick. Hopefully you weren't too far away from home!
@FaithFertility: Good luck on your first day back! Glad that at least your DH is with G today.

@MrsF: Ugggh gross! We actually have a few that were gifted... I just keep a mental note to throw them out at some point!
@MamaG: Oh no! I am so sorry! I hope none got on the carseat. I hate seeing them so helpfuless and sick!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: Have a good first day! K hasn't been sick for a long time now (knock on wood), but of course she decided to lick the toy ice-cream at the children's museum yesterday so I was like...
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: Ew, yuck. We've been pretty healthy for a while but J still puts so many things in his mouth... and then he was up last night with congestion and now has a cold
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: Kara just doesn't always understand "pretend". She will put all her toy utensils in her mouth and eat her play food for real so I have to watch her like a hawk when she's not playing with her own toys. I keep telling her it's pretend and she only pretends sometimes lol!

@snowjewelz: I lol'd to the licking the ice cream! Oh man.
Hope she doesn't get sick.
@FaithFertility: Glad your DH is off today/tomorrow to stay home with G! Hope your 1st day back goes well! Do you have the kids today already or teachers only?
Speaking of bathtubs, we had our first poo in the tub accident this weekend! Luckily it was small/hard so easy to scoop up quick.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: Hahaha ahhh! I always wondered if that would happen. Good that it was an 'easy' one..
eggplant / 11861 posts
@josina: No students yet, meet the teacher is Thursday and the kiddos come next Monday! Just tons of meetings!!!
@snowjewelz: ughhhhh yes G stuck a straw cup in her mouth at Target! ProbaProbably why she is sick now!
Hope K fights those ice cream germs!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@josina: oh man! That's only happened once over here but big sister was definitely freaked out! She jumped out of the tub pretty quickly
Tonight J said "poop" while he was in the tub so I put him on the toilet (couldn't really come up with a better option). He didn't do anything, but at least he didn't crap in the tub either!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: Ugh she didn't eat well yesterday, so I got all paranoid thinking it's b/c she's starting something!! I just remember too... After we left, I was driving so I forgot to tell my mom to sanitize her hands before eating snacks

@snowjewelz: @FaithFertility: The good news is all those little germies are building immune systems. C has such a great immune system now and the days of the under 2 or 3 "daycare" sick are hard but they pay off It does suck for them to be off, but it really does pay off later.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: Yes! I'm hoping it's already paying off now since she hasn't been sick for a while. I guess we'll see how her immune system is come fall/winter! I was nervous this whole summer of her getting HFM b/c I know it's going around!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: Hahaha I feel so bad for her that he pooped while she was in there too!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: @MamaG: Yeah - I've pretty much given up on keeping things out of his mouth. Even my almost 4yo puts things in her mouth. There's plenty of research that says this is how we build a strong immune system and that all of the avoidance is giving our kids more issues.
That being said, J has a bad cold and I was up for hours last night just holding him upright so that he could breathe and sleep. Whomp whomp.

I see a few of you are TTC! Count me in too! We started TTC this month
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@MrsF: awww, poor little boy.
At this point I've given up on being super careful about germs, its gonna happen, and all for a stronger immune system.
@whenoceansrise: Yay, good luck!
I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and FINALLY get to hear a hb at my appt. tom.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: So exciting!
@josina: Yay! I switched OBs and get far less scans than last time (but that OB gives an obscene amt of scans) so I've barely seen DD2... I have my anatomy next week!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: I was going to suggest turning her around to see if it helps!
@MrsF: I'm really bad about cleaning the bath toys. Yikes. I need to take a look!

I feel like Ryan is still pretty behind in the speech dept. He has around 50 words but half of them are probably only understood by me and the nanny! He can kind of count to 10 and knows the color blue though
I'm getting so nervous for him to start his school. He'll nap there 3x a week and is such a good sleeper at home....he's never slept in anything but a crib in a sleep sack. How is he going to sleep on a cot?! And do I wean him from the pacifier first or wait until Christmas break??
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@winniebee: Ethan's way behind these girls also, but saying new words everyday, enough that I don't keep track anymore.
BeBe = blanket, and freezy (popsicle).
MeMe = mickey, and movie.
He answers Unh Unh a lot, and is really good at NO!
His words are too cute.
Hope his new school goes well! Ethan just started sleeping on a cot at daycare and he does fine. No tips on the paci since E never took one.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: I feel like Kaylee is behind in speech but Chloe had her explosion between 22-23 months. Kaylee's words aren't the most understandable either. I get more than even DH. Kaylee turns 21 months next week so I know its coming. Her daycare hasn't been concerned and typically is pretty complimentary on her speech so I try to go with that.
As to the transition to school for Ryan, he will surprise you. Kaylee has been on a cot and without a pacifier at daycare for so long. She started cot sleeping at 10.5 months and dropped her pacifier right at a year. She's still in the crib at home and we kept the pacifier until 18 months!
How does school feel about the sleep sack? Will they let him use it? Ours won't. Kaylee has a blanket and stuffed animal, just like at home. Her naps are shorter than what I like (at home too!) at about 1.5 hours. I'm also not sure that daycare would let us have a pacifier at this age either
I'm pro weaning the pacifier and it was easy with both of my girls though I dreaded it both times.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: Ty definitely had his first explosion around 19-20 months, and Ryan just turned 20 months. I remember Ty could sing the ABCs at a vacation when he was 21 months, but of course maybe my memory is a little fuzzy as to how well he sang it I won't send him in the sleep sack to school - just with his puppy lovey! I wanted to paci wean him before school started but now we're less than a month away. We have a vacation leading right up until school so I feel like it either needs to be done in the next few weeks or wait until December. I'm just wondering if letting him have it at nap time for the first few months at school will help him start napping there? And then wean it over the Christmas break? I'm sure it will all be fine but I'm just nervous he wont' nap at school!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@josina: super cute! Ryan says Yes or Yeah to just about everything but only shakes his head no! Enjoying that he can't say that yet
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: He will surprise you! K only sleeps on our bed at home, but she proves to be an excellent napper at school, on a mat, goes to sleep by herself without binky or blankie! And she did the same at my in-law's!
I think we're going to cut off the tips to her binkies come 9/1....

@whenoceansrise: Yay! Good luck with TTC Maybe we'll be lucky enough to be on another due date board together again
@josina: I hope your appointment went well!
@winniebee: I would say that DH, myself and our nanny are pretty much the only ones who know what J is saying. We were with my parents today and I had to interpret almost every single word. FWIW our EI therapist seems to think it's normal.
