@MamaG: it's getting more and more likely that I'll need to wake K up in the mornings. At least it is one weekdays. On weekends when she'd actually have the opposite to sleep in she's up bright and early!

@MamaG: M keeps leaking out of his size 4 overnites a lot recently too, despite using a sposie pad along with it. I'm trying to use up the rest of his 4's before switching to 5's though

Both kids went to bed last night at 630 (normal-ish for E, plus I heard her singing for awhile; K was coming down with something and looked pathetic)....but they woke up today at 545!!!! And they were downstairs before I could even herd them back to bed The only upside was that I had to feed R at 530a and had decided to just be up for the day, so at least they didn't wake me up, but MAN! Thank goodness for Sesame Street on-demand!!

@KayKay: Amen, Sesame Street I need to find that for G!

  5. snowjewelz

@KayKay: Haha if I feed K2 at 6am I still go back to sleep. At first I think K1 didn't realize I was in my room but after like 2 weeks of just going downstairs with DH, she will come knock on my door and barge in and start our day

I strangely am not a fan of Sesame Street (along w/ K). We like Elmo's world and these shorts I find on YT Elmo @ the zoo and that's about it! She's really into Daniel Tiger lately and the episode about holding parents hands if you're scared actually helped us!

@snowjewelz: I was a huge SS fan as a kid, G might not be! Currently still Doc fans!

@AngelicOne: Oh that's so hard I hope there were some understanding parents in there!

@MamaG: Huggies overnights haven't been a miracle for us, but they're definitely better than the Pampers overnights, especially since they seem to have changed them - and we're usually a solidly pampers family. My next plan was to try the liners that others have talked about on HB but I haven't tried that yet. J will also occasionally pee on the potty before bed, which obviously helps. It's so gross to deal with all the wet stuff

@FaithFertility: Sorry that you guys are having a hard time - and yes! I was so jealous of you girls with just one newborn when J was little. Of course there are pros and cons to each. At least with subsequent kids you truly know that it will get better and that things are always changing

@KayKay: I'm sorry for the sickness Hopefully everyone else stays healthy! There is just nothing worse...

  8. KayKay

    pear / 1961 posts

@snowjewelz: Both girls love Daniel Tiger and that's usually my show of choice, but E had basically watched that a TON the last 2 days being home from school so we were changing it up. Plus, I found that K will just find random things (on Netflix or Amazon Prime) which can be a little...suspect...in terms of some of the things the characters say. So at least with Sesame Street I know that it won't be teaching her bad habits I actually hate how Elmo refers to himself in the 3rd person -- why act like that's the right way to talk!?

  9. KayKay

    pear / 1961 posts

@mamag: ah the stomach sleeping! K just about always peed through when she slept long nights on her stomach. there just wasn't much to do about it! E seems to sleep more on her back and side, at least whenever I check on her.

@MrsF: I think it's been really hard since they've been sick it's actually not that bad I truly shouldn't complain

On another note I was thinking about going back to work early due to the fact that I am not getting paid anymore but.....I got a phone call this morning that one of the teachers that retired just donated me 42 of her sick days so that means the time that I've taken off with AJ that has been "free" now is paid I will get retro paid (back paid) what a blessing I truly can't believe it

@MamaG: Knock on wood, but we have had zero issues with Up&Up overnights, and I know we had issues before we switched. We're not very brand-loyal though so I couldn't tell you what we were using before.
Hope the Huggies you ordered fix the problem for you, no fun!

(And don't say you shouldn't complain about sick kids or anything else! Sometimes it helps )

We are finally casually starting potty training. K said she had to poop on Saturday and managed to get a nugget in the toilet. She's actually really excited about sitting on the toilet, actually doing anything is another story.

I might have been forceful about it yesterday She was dry after nap - it's perfect right? Clearly she should need to go. She sat on the toilet for a good 20 minutes. She did pee, but I know it wasn't her full bladder. She gets scared when she hears it. Then this morning, dry diaper after all night! I sure put her on the potty again. It didn't take as long to get results, but she looked shocked and I tried to be calm and just gently reassure her. She peed more and was still dry when we left for daycare. We need to get her over her little fear!

@MamaG: Awwww go K! That is awesome!! I am sure the fear will go away! I used to tell G to listen for it....lol and say Do you heat it? Maybe that will prep her to know it is coming?

    @FaithFertility: That's incredible! SO NICE!

@KayKay: woof early day! T only sleeps 10-11 hours MAX so I would be scared to put him to bed any earlier than 7:30! Even 7:45 this weekend resulted in 6:15 wakeup!

@snowjewelz: my kids don't love sesame street
    either!

@MamaG: Good luck! I may try this weekend since we have zero plans and my husband is on call so we have to be home

  24. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@MamaG: Good luck!! I went to school to meet her new teacher last week; she said a bunch of kids there are potty training now so maybe it will catch on for real!

    @winniebee: Does T sleep earlier than R b/c he doesn't nap anymore?

  25. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@snowjewelz: No, a little later actually. Ty just requires less sleep than Ryan. Ryan goes down around 7:30/8 depending on if his nap was good. He's up around 6:30/7. Tyler is in bed around 8, but often not asleep until 8:30. Up around 6:30/7 as well. We have the random days when they are up at 6, too.

  26. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@winniebee: Right now K's bedtime is no earlier than 8:30 and sometimes she doesn't sleep till 9:30... Week days are better b/c she sleeps 12:30-2 at school, but at home it's more like 1:30-3. She only sleeps 10 hrs overnight too without fail!

  27. FaithFertility

    eggplant / 11861 posts

G has figured out that AJ stays in Mommy and Daddy's room and she is not a fan! She asks to go sleep in there too now at night! Kinda Sad! We just tell her She is a big girl and needs to stay in her bed with all her animals! Seems to work but DH has to rub her back a little more these days...lol

  28. FaithFertility

    eggplant / 11861 posts

@winniebee: G seems a lot like T, I think she will drop her nap by 3 too! She already only naps 45-1 hr even at daycare and Sunday skipped it at home all together! But was in bed by 7....

  29. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@FaithFertility: I bet!! Ryan's naps at school are shorter, like 90 minutes but at home they are 2 hours+ still.

  30. MrsF

    honeydew / 7283 posts

@MamaG: I'm amazed that she was dry in the morning! J's nighttime diaper is always completely soaked. I can see how you wanted really badly for her to empty her bladder when it seemed like the perfect time. I probably would have pushed it too!

J is still just peeing on the potty occasionally but not really unless he's already naked at the time or if I prompt him to go. We'll follow his lead unless it seems important to do it for one reason or another.

  31. MamaG

    pomelo / 5298 posts

So stinker had a wet diaper changed at 2:30 yesterday afternoon. She was still dry after dinner at nearly 7:00. I tried desperately to get her to use the toilet and she was just happy to sit there and watch elmo potty on youtube. Of course her diaper was wet this morning. How could it not be?!?!?

But I got to thinking could she have a UTI? Is that maybe why she's now holding and crying? I need to ask daycare if she cried at school today. She cried out in her crib at about 4:00am, but settled again.

  32. FaithFertility

    eggplant / 11861 posts

@MamaG: I would think it could be! To me it would either be holding it, because she knows it is going to hurt to go, or going more frequently! I would definitely ask school! I sure hope not those things hurt.....

  33. MrsF

    honeydew / 7283 posts

@MamaG: Any update on K? I hope she didn't end up having a UTI

  34. MamaG

    pomelo / 5298 posts

@MrsF: Thanks for checking. Doesn't seem to be a UTI. The child is just constantly going through something. One of the teachers that was out for a few days commented upon her return that she's changed. She said she's either stretching out (more) or she's just losing weight. I think it's stretching out. Growth spurt?

  35. FaithFertility

    eggplant / 11861 posts

@MamaG: glad no UTI!!! I think a growth spurt G is DEFINITELY in one
Eating a ton and her legs look longer.....lol

My anatomy scan is tomorrow morning. My anxiety is through the roof, I've already cried a few times today. Compounding the situation, we are expecting snow and my kids may not have school. Bringing them along is NOT ideal given that my husband and I really want to be able to devote our full attention to what is happening during the ultrasound.

Ryan has been sick and got some 2 year molars last weekend. He has been a BEAR! Pretty bad behavior all around but I can't help and kiss his cheeks all day long lol. He's talking in full sentences now and asking so many questions - "what you doing now mama" "what you cookin in der mama" "I go get my puppy and binky now" "we going to swimming now?" I love this language stage! Every day is a new surprise!

  37. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@winniebee: Ugh, bad timing with the snow! Is there anyone that could watch your kids during the scan? Otherwise I guess you'll have to bring them with you... but maybe a nurse could entertain them or something??? Fingers crossed that everything is FINE!

OMG, YES to the language development going on! Logan needs to enunciate better because he's hard to understand, but he's getting better everyday and speaking in more complete sentences. It's adorable!

@Adira: i have two friends who are willing but their kids have had norovirus this week...so, no thanks! haven't been able to find a babysitter yet and we are 1.5 hours from family (and my parents are on vacation)

  39. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@winniebee: Ugh, that sucks. Hopefully it won't really end up mattering because baby is going to be just fine, so you won't mind too much if the kids are with you.

  40. KayKay

    pear / 1961 posts

@winniebee: do any friends have babysitters that they could give you info for? or can you do a drop-in to beforecare at the boys' school?

thinking all the good thoughts for you to get through today and then during the u/s tomorrow!

E is crazy with the talking, too: "you pumping milk out your boobs, mama?"; "i'm hungry - i need a snack" (with a plate of dinner food that she won't touch sitting in front of her...); "i have chapstip, mama? no eating the chapstip...only on yips". she can be such a little monster, but then will do the sweetest most adorable thing to make up for it. i swear it's evolution at work so that we don't abandon them at 2
