At our weight check over the weekend (4 days old), she had lost 10 oz (7%). They wanted to keep the loss under 10%, so we were in the okay range. But that's when I got lectured pretty good about dehydration and making sure to feed every two hours. I'm trying. Night time is just so hard. For whatever reason at night she fights horribly and struggles to latch. It probably doesn't help that I'm tired and try to nurse sitting up in our bed instead of going to a chair.
We are struggling on the sleep front in general as she doesn't like to be on her back. She wants to be snuggled. I'm very close to buying a rock and play at this point. I had resisted and felt it wasn't necessary.
I really want to get to the point of pumping as it's my ultimate goal is to pretty much EP. My DH could be immensely more helpful if that were the case. I'm just struggling to get to that point since I feel like we are still trying to find our place with BF.
And I'm being whiny I just need to sleep, so off to nap I go.

@MamaG: You don't sound whiny at all! And you're doing better than I was! When we had Xander's 3-day check-up, he had lost 10%! That's when we were told to do every 2 hour feedings too. Nighttime was definitely the hardest because Xander was soooooo sleepy and it was so hard to keep him awake to nurse. I think I ended up going every 3 hours at night, just for my own sanity, especially because every nursing session seemed to take an hour and then we were supposed to start again in an hour! I did the same as you too - trying to nurse in bed, which hurt my back because I didn't know what I was doing.
We're all rooting for you!! You're doing a great job!! I hope you're able to take a nap (I never could)!

@MamaG: these bf issues are so difficult! Can you supplement some until you get into a groove? Did you EP last time? I did that last time after 6w so have some tips if you are interested! Oh and the r and p was great for us last time.

Got the results from my blood work this morning - platelets are at 54. Still need to talk to my hematologist, but I suspect my steroid dosage is going to get upped!
ETA: Or not! Just spoke to my hematologist and he doesn't want to change my dosage! Weird!

@MamaG: You are totally fine! I would be a total whiner when it's my turn! Maybe you can have DH check craigslist or if you are in a local buy/sell group on FB and get a used RnP?
@Adira: Oh boo, but at least you're almost there!
I just realized no one ever told me the results of my Hep B test haha. I wonder if I'm gonna get an induction date at my appt this week..
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Do you mean Strep B? Or did you have a Hep B test?? I got the results of my Strep B test today when I was at my OB appointment (though I was able to check it on-line earlier).
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: Oh Strep B. Hahaha I don't know why I typed Hep B?? My mind is really going... I can barely focus at work! Thank goodness it'll be Thanksgiving break! Then I really want to go into labor so I can just not work anymore!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: hahaha, I totally hear you. I can't focus at work anymore (and shit, I just noticed the time). Just need to get through the holidays and get our Christmas tree on Sunday and then the baby can come whenever he wants!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: Thats what I keep saying too! We have the tree; and once I decorate it, I am officially ready to give birth!

@snowjewelz: @Adira: wondering when everyone else is going on maternity leave? I took today off because I felt terrible yesterday but today I am feeling better. I don't want to be at work but also feel bored/anxious about the prospect of being at home for the next week or two or more (!!!) waiting for labor....
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@magnolia: I'm planning on working till I pop... I don't get much STD so I need every paycheck I can get! I'm hoping I will go into labor next week anyway; or get induced by end of next week!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@magnolia: Last time I worked up until I went into labor. I only have 12 weeks, so I want to spend them with the baby and not just waiting! So that's my plan again!

@MamaG: I have no experience in BF but I think you sound nirmal, many of my friends say it's not easy! Hope you get some good sleep and it gets easier for you! ♡♡
@magnolia: My last day is the 12th.......The Friday before my due date on the 14th.......my school district kind of wanted me
to give a date!
@Adira: Hope all works out with your levels! ♡

@FaithFertility: Thanks! I'm just accepting that I won't be able to get an epidural again. As long as they are high enough to be safe, that's all that matters! And I'll get some meds in an IV when I'm in labor to help with that too, just like last time.

So add me to the list of November babies. My BP is still higher than the OB is comfortable with, so I'm being induced tomorrow. I have a foley bulb to help dilate me because I'm still just a fingertip dilated.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@AngelicOne: Oh wow! I'm sorry about your BP, but better safe than sorry!! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Hopefully everything goes smoothly!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: ugh I'm sorry. At least you are mentally prepared for the no epidural
@AngelicOne: wow! Good luck tomorrow!!

@snowjewelz: My OB's office doesn't call me with my results unless they're positive (for both the GD and strep tests), so it's possible they just haven't called because the results are negative?
@magnolia: @Adira: @snowjewelz: Me too - I'm planning on working up until I go into labor! We'll see how that goes
@Adira: Ugh, sorry about your levels.
@AngelicOne: Oh man - good luck today!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: Oh ok, maybe! I'm going this Fri so I have to remember to ask. I am so nervous, I wonder if they're gonna finally check my cervix and I wonder if I'll get an official induction date!
I also started having dreams again after not having them for so long! Again, wonder if these changes mean the end is near!

@magnolia: My DD is Dec. 2nd, next Tuesday... I really don't want to come back next week after Thanksgiving but I'm also worried I'll end up going late and then 'waste' that time off. I have 4-1/2 PTO days to use and then 6 weeks Maternity (and will use some of next year's PTO). We'll see what dr. says at my 39 WEEK(!) appt. today...
@AngelicOne: Wow! Thinking of you today! Sorry your BP was high but yay for meeting baby!

Anyone interested in doing an Elfster exchange for the December mommas? We can keep it at say $20 if people interested...
persimmon / 1168 posts
@snowjewelz: @Adira: @theotherstark: @FaithFertility: I was planning on working until I pop also but I really need an end date to look forward to, so I think I'm going to work until my EDD next Friday. That means 7 more days of work, including a holiday celebration for our students tomorrow which will be nice but a little stressful.
It's not helping that I am having prelabor symptoms that come and go.
persimmon / 1168 posts
@josina: I'm worried about that too, I hope you have a good appointment today!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: whats an elfster exchange? just gift exchange?
@magnolia: I hear you.. It'd be nice to know when I can stop going to work! At least my work week ends at 2pm tomorrow. I can't wait!!!

36+2 (OB says 36+5). Up 26 lbs. Had growth scan today and baby is growing well between visits and his head to abdomen ratio is more symmetrical. Est weight is 5 lb 2 oz (Ty born at 5 lb 5 oz). Still have weekly ultrasounds scheduled.
Had GBS and cervical check today -- 2cm dilated and 80% effaced. Baby is low. She thinks he will come sooner rather than later (before 38w) but who knows. Still resting lots until after thanksgiving weekend!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: I've also had a couple pretty vivid dreams the past couple nights!! Interesting...
@winniebee: Sounds like a good appointment!
@AngelicOne: Good luck today!!
I'm officially full term!! 37 weeks today!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: Wow so crazy! Us with the weird BM & dreams! I guess it's just a matter of time now! I feel like you might go earlier than me since #2 seems to always come faster!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: haha, it's weird we're having similar symptoms! They probably don't even mean anything!! And you're due a whole week before me, so who knows what will happen! I actually went a week early with my first, so you never know!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: As terrified as I am about contractions and pain, I kinda want to feel something so I know it's happening lol! Or if I can just see some of that mucus plug out! Something, anythingggg!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: hahaha, it'll happen when it happens! With Xander, I lost my mucus plug in the morning and started having contractions that same day. Though I was all "What's going on - are these contractions?" because I didn't know what I was experiencing.

Hi everyone. Been very busy adapting to motherhood. It's all very surreal still but I'm loving it and can't believe Lila is here. My husband had to go back to work as the 4 days I was getting induced are being used as part of his paternity time off which is very annoying so I'm on my own in the day but I'm getting there!
Breast feeding is quite tricky. I sent hubby off to buy a 'my breast friend' yesterday as I was finding it hard to hold her in the correct position and I have to say it is AMAZING and worth every penny.
I finally have internet at my new house which is fantastic. Here is my little beauty. X

@BandDmommy: I'd love to do an exchange but I just don't think I'll have the time
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs.Lilac: She's GORGEOUS!!!! Congratulations again!!! And good luck with breastfeeding - it's definitely tricky in the beginning.
