Got an update today, not quite what I was expecting to hear. Apparently the amnio fluid around LO is low. This might be due to me being dehydrated, but it may also be that the placenta isn't supporting her the way it should. I have another check up tomorrow to measure fluids, and if it's still low, we need to figure out a game plan. This may mean moving up the induction date. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Good luck to everyone who has seen progress these past few days!! I guess our month is mostly early birds huh?
My update: I am 40 weeks 6 days now, about to lose my mind! I know in my brain she is only a few days or up to a week away which is really peanuts compared to the 9 months we've been waiting plus the months we were TTC but recently each day feels like an eternity! Tomorrow I go for acupuncture to try to induce labor, and if nothing, on Tuesday my doctor will sweep the membranes. If it's still a no go I will be induced next week Thursday which is exactly week 42. So at least we have a game plan... I am glad you ladies are birthing on time or early as I don't wish this frustration and anxiety on any of you!
Hope our brand new moms are adjusting well and doing great with your little ones.

@maisymay: Thinking of you too!
@gracecat: oh my, I can't imagine having to go to 42 weeks and I hope I don't have to! I know what you mean on the days feeling like an eternity. Crossing my fingers for you!

@gracecat: Aw, I hope thing start happening soon for you. Today is my original edd... I would be so frustrated if she wasn't here yet, let alone for another week..

Great to see everyone's updates, and thinking of those of you ladies who are still anxiously waiting.
I saw my doctor this morning (39 weeks and 3 days) and I'm only 1 cm dilated. Because she's had concerns about the baby's growth since the 20-week anatomy scan, she did a quick ultrasound to check fluid levels and had me take an NST.
Everything looked fine, but the doctor is going to have me come back on Friday for another cervical check/ultrasound and make a decision on induction. She wants to induce me on Wednesday of next week if the baby doesn't come on her own. I'm really hoping labor starts naturally, but it's nice to know there's an end date in sight if that doesn't happen!

We went in for a check up, and it was the fastest appt I've ever had. From the time we checked in until we left was less than 15 mnutes! The doc saw nice pockets of fluid as soon as he put the wand on my belly and everything looked great! He kept saying "It's shocking, but in a good way" and "Is this the same pregnancy?" so he was pleased with how it all turned out! Yay for little girl to be doing well.

@rawrasaur: @CibMomma: @travelingbrit: Congratulations on your little ones, mamas!
I was going to put together a quick birth story, but I'm already hearing some fussing from the other room. I hope everyone's hanging in there in the homestretch or enjoying their new arrivals, and I'll post more soon!

Baby GIRL! Elizabeth arrived 4:56 a.m. Monday, after two days of early labor and 20 hours of active labor. ALL back labor, no sleep, finally had to throw up the white flag and transfer from home after stalling at 8-9 cm, in sheer exhaustion! Phew! More to come...

@Minnie_Girl: Congratulations! I can't wait to hear the whole story, it sounds like you were a trooper:)

37 week appointment today. Baby is snug as a bug in there. I'm a finger tip dilated, but that's all. She said it feels like he's trying to engage, but my pelvis might be too small. I was told to do nothing but sleep the next few days because I've only been getting 2-3 hours of sleep in 24 hours (and that's not even continuous).

@rattles: can't wait to hear more! hope all is going well over there!

Just posted my birth story in the "Birth Stories" section. Hope all my fellow December Mama's are doing well. I'm finally feeling somewhat better from my C-Section and enjoying spending time with baby.
He sleeps so much and we have to wake him up to eat! He's breastfeeding like a champ, but I still am supplementing with formula. Hoping we can wean off the formula soon.

Here's a photo of the little lady, not even a day old. I haven't had the chance to sit down and take some really good photos of her. It's amazing how fast the time goes!
I've been working on the birth story in my spare moments. It's five parts long at the moment! I'd like to get it up soon, but we'll see.
Priority #1: Get breastfeeding down pat.
Priority #2: SLEEP!

@travelingbrit: read your birth story. so sorry that it was so traumatic! sounds like it was going good in the beginnig too! but i'm glad now you're with your LO and everything seems to be going good!
@oahujeni: @kakimochi: @Minnie_Girl: congrats!! can't wait to hear your birth stories!
@gracecat: so i just saw your due date is 12/6?? hope ur doing well and that you get to meet your LO soon!!
since more than half of us have our LO's hows everyone doing?? LO is alittle more than 3 weeks old now and she has a pretty good schedule. she eats every 3 hours during the day and every 4 during the night. not sure if you guys follow the nov boards but i was telling them that LO wasn't gaining weight that first week so the ped had me start exclusively pumping to make sure she was getting enough to eat. turns out LO was tongue tied so i had that snipped last week and i'm trying to incorporate 1 nursing session a day and then exclusively pumping the rest. pumping is annoying but less stressful since we were having issues with bfing. anyway, i hope bfing is going well for u guys and that u r hopefully getting enough sleep!

@gracecat: yes, baby Robert was born on 12/8:).
Congrats fellow new mommies! The pics of the babies are adorable!
The first week has flown by so fast. I've been journaling simple stuff we do each day just so I can go back and remember the first days. Breastfeeding has been pretty seamless for us so far, he eats every 1.5-2.5 hours during the day and around every 3
at night. DH is getting very run down since he can't fall asleep as easily as I can.
Has anyone heard of Dr. Michele Cohen (Tribeca Pediatrics)? He wrote a book called The New Basics. He was also mentioned in the book Bringing Up Bebe. That book really made sense to me and so do his recommendations. It's based more on common sense than a "philosophy.". He has some great advice at getting your baby to sleep through the night earlier and regulating meals etc.
I need to get started on my birth story too! Maybe this week I'll have some time:)

There are only a few of us left!!!!
I had my 39 weeks appointment today. I went form fingertip dialated last week to 2 cm today. I definatley dropped over the weekend, which I figured would happen since I had to work.
I am hoping to hold off until any day after tomorrow. It is my mother in laws birthday and she would be less than thrilled to share it.

@kodybear: we are finally starting to get on a schedule. We are still supplementing a small amount of formula but LO is mostly bf.
He has been feeding about every 3-4 hours with his longest awake time at 4am.
We got off to such a slow start since I was being treated for my complications, I honestly was unsure if we would be able to bf. Ballot to say perseverance paid off!

Well, the good news is baby is fine. The bad news is my Bishop's score is like a 2 or 3! Meaning even if they induce me at 41 weeks 5 days today, I am not very dilated, not very effaced and baby is not very low even though it feels like I am walking with a bowling ball between my legs. What the heck?! That means induction is likely to be long, painful and not very productive, leading to a high chance of a c-section.
I got my membranes stripped for the first time today, ouch! First a nice midwife did it very lightly and gently because I wasnt dilated enough for anything more, but the doctor felt she wasn't aggressive enough given how far along I am so the doctor had to do it properly a second time. He said he was NOT going to be gentle because we need to make some progress. Haha, at least he was honest, sigh.... I feel a bit crampy now but we'll see if leads anywhere. I go back in two days to check on baby girl and see if my body has opened up a bit more.
In the meantime we are doing other things like walking, evening primrose oil, acupuncture, acupressure, etc... but I guess it hasn't helped much. I never thought we'd be so close to Christmas!

What a rough night in our house. I was having contractions every 5 minutes most of the nught, but they were short and then eventually spaced out. This happened with my second, but they never hurt like last night. I thought for sure we were headed to L& D.
Today I got up and the baby is so low I feel like it will fall out if I sneeze. Fingers crossed that I am able to get some rest today and not have this baby until after midnight:)

@gracecat: I hope the stripping helps and baby comes quickly for you.
