Ahhh, so many wonderful December babies have already been born! Congratulations to all!! I'm sincerely hoping that everyone had a GOOD, POSITIVE labor experience.

Dumb question for all of you mamas who have already gone through labor...what did your contractions feel like? I woke up early this morning and my BH had changed. I started waking up around 4 a.m. with back pain, and things have been coming in pretty consistent waves since then.

I told DH to go in to work this morning in case it wasn't the real deal, but I have to dance through the....*dare I say it* contractions?...every tenish minutes. Is this early labor? I thought it was supposed to be obvious?!

@gracecat: can you add me to the list? Due 12/10 with a boy. Induction date scheduled for 12/13.

I've had maybe 2-3 braxton hicks this week but nothing real. Trying to keep myself occupied! It's so hard to just wait. I want to go get pedicures everyday but even weekly that gets expensive!

So happy for you girls who have had your babies!!!

Question: if I get induced Thursday early morning, straight with pitocin, since I'm favorable, have the aft thin the afternoon, think I'll get discharged Saturday morning? Or Sunday? Assuming all goes normal.

@travelingbrit: Congrats! I hope your recovery is quick and you have a wonderful birthday!

@gracecat: Thanks for updating the list! I can't wait for the rest of Dec babies to come - especially yours!

@Minnie_Girl: I didn't experience back pain - but that does sound like early labor to me. Hope this is it for you!

@travelingbrit: congrats on your LO!! sorry that you had some complications but i'm glad you get to see him on your bday!!

@Minnie_Girl: my contractions were like menstrual cramps. but they came in waves. they started at 30s long every 2 min. my water broke first tho so i knew those were contractions, otherwise i might've passed them off as pregnancy pains as they didn't hurt *that* much initially. i didn't have back labor so i don't know what that feels like. it kind of sounds like early labor to me tho!

@CibMomma: for me, we had to be in the hospital for a minimum of 24 hours after the baby was delivered to check for jaundice levels at the 24 hour mark. so if you deliver by friday morning, u can be discharged by sat morn (if there weren't any complications), but u can stay for up to 48 hours after delivery. but i think it depends on your hospital and what your insurance covers as well.

@gracecat~ it's actually December 2nd. Thanks for updating!

Hey ladies, wanted to pop back in before I get swamped again.

Congrats to all the new mamas since I've been away! I don't know how you ladies bounce back so quickly! Serious props. It's going to take me a while to catch up and write up a birth story.

In the meantime, here's a picture of our little peanut (5lb 10.8oz at birth).

@Minnie_Girl: how are you feeling? I was going through the same thing at 4am yesterday morning. It felt like really bad period cramps that started in my back. They were strong but I couldn't distinguish when they started and stopped so couldn't time them. I went to the dr yesterday and I'm 3cm, 60% effaced and -1 station. I'm still having cramping and bleeding a little bit after the exam (still some today.) But again, although I have pain it's not something I can time... I feel like I'm going to be the only person that's going to go into labor and not realize it until it's too late to get to the hospital!

Midwife just stopped by to check up on us. We're in early labor (I'm about 4cm), but it's pretty pokey because the baby needs to change their position. The positioning is also causing my back pain. Argh, bad baby! Playing the waiting game now.

Robert John was born yesterday at 2:49 pm. We are so blessed to have this happy, healthy little boy!

My water broke at 10:30 Friday night. By midnight we were at the hospital and contractions were in high gear and painful, the epidural at 1:30 am was a lifesaver and allowed us to get some sleep until I dilated and effaced more. He was face up so labor took a lot longer than normal, but we made it!

Our parents fly in this week and my husband is off the rest of the month....what a great way to spend the holidays.

I have a whole new respect for all mothers out there. And I agree with @lovebird, props to all the new moms for writing birth stories and being so on top of things!

I'm at 37 weeks as of today, and am definitely feeling it! I've been crampy and uncomfortable all day, I'm really sore on my left side, not sure why. DH is absolutely convinced that we'll make it to our induction on 12/22 but I'm a little less certain. Tomorrow I should have an idea of how dilated and effaced we are. Plus the NST will show how often I'm having little contractions.
ETA: And my back has been hurting like mad off and on the last two days. It's not consistent enough for me to be too concerned, but it's something.

I lost my mucous plug yesterday (I think most of it at least...I saw a little bit again this morning, but not nearly as much). I guess the wait is on. I'm a wreck. I don't know if I'm ready for this.

  38. oahujeni

@maisymay: sounds like things are starting for you! I'm having those same back pains and they radiate to my belly too but nothing consistent enough to time.

@boiledpnut: I feel ya... I started losing my plug on Saturday and then everything hit home for me and I'm a wreck too! But ready or not it's going to happen (although it can still take a while after losing the plug.) Wishing you luck!
