I would only ever ask if I knew the person decently well and I was trying to gauge their emotions about the pregnancy / how to respond.... I hope that makes sense. But if you don't want the question, I think a vague answer is totally appropriate and fine!

I got it a few times with E, even though we'd been married awhile! Not a soul has asked this time around

Sounds random, but I sort of wanted people to know we had been trying, but I probably would have been insulted if anyone asked me! Since we aren't married. I don't think anyone did ask but I am sure family members wondered.

A few, but we were in our early 20s when dd was born.

This time around I doubt as many will, especially since we've been saying maybe another for over a year (maybe we started saying that closer to two years ago before trying... It took awhile) but we'll see soon! Planning to come out with it after the anatomy scan in a couple weeks.

Not if we were trying per se but if that was something we were thinking about. It was still uncomfortable, especially since I had back to back losses. I shut it down real quick.

Nope - all our close friends and family already knew we were trying!

I only got asked with my second. We had just bought a two bedroom house so everyone who knew that asked, haha.

But it's totally rude!

All our friends knew we were looking to start a family soon so no one really asked if we were trying. I did have one or two ask how long it took, but I was happy to tell them because it took us a year and I figure that if sharing my experience reassures them in any way when they start trying, that's a good thing.

My boss asked me when I told her but it was more based on how panicked I looked when I told her.

I had one person ask if C was planned, which I think is a bizarre question. But like others we had been married for a few years already and made no secret about wanting kids, so I think it was assumed.

I've only told close friends about this one and a couple of people have asked if we were surprised or trying, but I don't mind since we are really close and last month I was talking about how we would probably start trying this summer.

I admit there have been a lot of times I've wondered if people had planned a pregnancy, but I never ask. But sometimes I really wish I could, just out of curiosity.

Only one person asked last time, and this time no one asked. I guess because I'm about to turn 35, people just assume we are in a rush? haha

People did when we were pregnant with DS. We've been married for 3 years already. It took me by surprise at first, but I just told them yes since we were.

No one asked when we got pregnant the 2nd time. I think they expected it since DS was 18 months old. It was "about that time" I guess.

We had a lot of people ask. I thought it was weird because I was obviously excited and we had been married a few years but it didn't really bother me, but I totally understand why it would bother others! It's definitely a personal question but it seemed like the askers were just filling the space with lots of random questions!

Yes - MANY people...but I think that's because we were 3 months pregnant at our wedding. Both the wedding AND the baby were planned...just didn't know we would get preg so soon! We were very lucky. But yea, people assumed it was an "oops" and asked. Rude.

Yep, both times got asked if it was. This pregnancy, we got asked so many times when we were adding to our family.

Ick. One person (a fringe friend) asked us if we were trying for DD1 or if she was an accident. I didn't like this woman to start with and now I no longer speak to her, partially because of her rude response to a joyous announcement.

I have a friend who just experienced this. She recently announced and told me multiple people asked her if her pregnancy was planned. She's been married for almost two years, is close to 30, bought a big house about six months ago -- to me, all signs point towards babies lol. I don't get it, it's not like she's 16 and single? I guess because people don't generally announce to the world that they're TTC, it can seem like a big surprise....but I would never ASK someone if it was planned!

I don't think I'd ever ask unless it was someone in my family or something but it also didn't bother me when people did ask. Only a few did. Most people knew we wanted kids and I was already 35.

I'm pregnant with my second, who will be 18 months younger than DS. Only my OB has actually asked directly if it was planned, but several people have made statements implying that they assume it was not planned. For example, "well I'm sure it happened a lot quicker than you were planning on" or "well I'm sure this wasn't what you were expecting but it will be great to have two so close in age!" It really annoys me that people assume that just because they are less than two years apart that must mean it wasn't planned when in fact we were not trying, not preventing and knew perfectly well it could happen. Whatevs though.
