My OB told me that the CDC now recommends all pregnant women get the whooping cough vaccine in their third trimester, for every pregnancy, even if they have had it in the past. It is supposed to protect the newborn since babies only get this vaccine at 2 months.

I am 100% pro-vaccines....but I am questioning if i really need to do this because I did not do it with my first pregnancy 3 years ago, and because my OB tends to push a lot of things and express extreme views. For example, she wanted me to take aspirin as a preventive measure because of my high blood pressure (which I did not do in my last pregnancy and my previous OB then never suggested it and i never had any signs of pre-eclamsia - so I decline the aspirin this time), she has told me more than once not to gain an ounce over 25 pounds, and she has advised not to carry my toddler at all because it can cause miscarriage.....so overall i have come to take her advice with a grain of salt and i want to do more research on the necessity of this vaccine while pregnant before i go ahead with it. So I am wondering if what other people's OBs/midwives have said about this.
