Maybe it means that your have less liquids... which causes your belly to be smaller. I wouldn't worry about it either. Especially if you feel movements daily.

@mediagirl: It does help! (but im no doc) I have a friend in which the docs told her to drink double her daily water intake because she was tiny Talk about peeing all the time.

I would say don't worry until the ultrasound! And even then, all bodies and babies are different... I went in for so many ultrasounds with Wagon Jr. because his measurements weren't adding up. They said his head was too big and his leg bones were too short... and it was a marker for Downs Syndrome. Turns out he's just... a Korean baby. We have big heads and short arms/legs. His head is STILL 99th percentile and he's 11th percentile for height... hehe. But yeah, they had us really worried as they sent us for ultrasound after ultrasound.

On the plus side, we got to see him a lot...!!!

@mediagirl: awww try to not stress too much... baby girl needs you to be calm and confident she's probably just dainty and little, and you're probably just low on fluid. Keep us updated!! How are her movements?

We noticed my baby was measuring "small" starting in the third trimester when my OB started doing more ultrasounds. I was measuring two weeks behind, just like you are. I was told to get an extra ultrasound at my hospital since their equipment was more updated and more accurate. Those machines came to the same conclusion, that my baby was on the small side.

My OB wasn't too concerned since I myself was a 5 lb baby and so was my sister. It could just be that its in our genes (I am a small asian woman). So we didn't do much except monitor. Two weeks before my due date, I was in for another routine ultrasound and a different doctor (my ob was on vacation) said he wanted to take every precaution, so he sent me to the hospital again for another ultrasound. The specialist there said since I am already "full term" at 38 weeks, he wanted to induce me and make sure there was nothing wrong with my placenta delivering nutrients to the baby.

Long story short, I delivered a healthy baby boy. He was 5 lbs 2 oz at birth but nothing wrong with him! They tested my placenta and that was fine too. Just a small mommy with a small baby.

So my advice to you: keep monitoring, drink lots of water and generally take it easy if you can. If you were a small baby or if DH was a small baby, perhaps it is just in your genes.

With my first, I measured small the entire pregnancy, so I had to do ultrasounds/BPP once a week for the last 8 weeks. Everything was fine. The major concern was that amniotic fluid would be low or the placenta was degrading too rapidly (both were verified as fine during my ultrasounds. If not, they would have had me try some things to help them, and if it wasn't looking better they might have discussed induction.) My daughter came out at a healthy size with no induction and has been healthy her whole two and a half years.

The past three times I've gone to the doctor I've measured small again, and they're going to have to do an ultrasound next time if I still am. I just think it's the shape of my body that makes my measurements smaller than other people or something.

So glad that it was a false alarm & BGH is happy and healthy!
