@Mrs Green Grass: Just wanted to say hello and hope that you had a good night last night in the new room! Hope that you are doing well this morning!!

Day 10: I've had so many nice calm regular days that I must've gotten too complacent. Last night I started having more frequent, more painful contractions (probably every 3 minutes or so). They checked my cervix and it's still the same 3 (cm?) which was reassuring. I got a shot of Terbutaline (a muscle relaxer) then a 1mg bolus of the Mag, then continued with my regulard Mag.

The contractions calmed down in frequency, but they're still just about as intense. As long as the meds can calm things down though we are good for now.

We had a slumber party last night...DH brought an air mattress and slept on the floor. I don't think he dealt that well with the constant interruptions - but it was still kinda fun and nice to have him here during the stressful events...

I'm glad that DH was able to stay with you. Sorry to hear you had a rough night. Hopefully the intensity will calm down a little today.

Oh darn sorry to hear you had a rough night. Hopefully things calm back down. Hang in there. Hospital bed rest has got to be mentally tough. Bed rest at home is bed enough. Keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

@Mrs Green Grass: I'm sorry things got a little more active last night! I'm thinking about you keeping Baby GG in my prayers...Thurs/Fri is not that far away and then you'll be at 25 weeks - another milestone!

Yep...just counting towards the milestones. It's starting to feeling like an eternity stretching before me...but every day helps. We had to repeat the shot and bolus today, but everything has been calm for the last few hours. Just not looking good for every getting off of Magnesium!

I'm sorry you had a crappy night and I hope that bebe stays put!! Only 4 more days until 25 weeks, that's good!
Hope you get off the magnesium soon so you can be a little bit more functional...And nice you could have a sleepover with your DH...Can you order food to the hospital? Like, get delivery or whatever? I think I'd do that a lot if I was there for an extended amount of time...

@Mrs Green Grass: Happy Monday! Hope you had an enjoyable weekend even with the additional meds! Any sight of a roommate yet? Hopefully not!

  13. Mrs Green Grass

    pomelo / 5628 posts

@Thehistoryofus: It doesn't sound like they do roommates very often. I have 3 or 4 computers for "A" beds stored on the other side of the room. So I think I'm safe for the time being.

It was an ok weekend. The contractions kind of put a damper on it (didn't sleep much at all last night) but it was nice to have DH around in the morning like normal. We watched our football game...had breakfast. It was good. But next time, I want to be stable enough to lay down in his air mattress with him at least for a little while!

@Mrs Green Grass: Hang in there girl - I think about you and pray for you every day that each day would get better and better, and easier for you! I second the recommendation for Downton Abbey. I think it's an easy one to slip into and forget about everthing else around you for a minute. I don't blame you a bit for wanting to lay down next to Mr. GG. Hopefully that day will be here soon Let me know if you want to do the embroidery thing - I'll help you find cute ones

@Mrs.VW: I'm definitely gong to do it! My sister found a cute alphabet nursery pattern at Michael's, but I'd still love to find something with baby dinosaurs. I just want it to be an all-in-one, frame-able piece at the end.

MGG - Hello! Just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you... I hope baby stays put and that you start feeling better soon.

I came across the youtube video of a baby born at 30 weeks after 11 weeks of hospital bedrest (due to PPROM at 19 weeks): I thought the story was really inspiring:

OK baby... listen here.... can you just quiet down for a little while here? We all want you to cook longer, ok? We're shooting for term, but at this point, quiet til Friday would be just fabulous for now.

Thanks so much from your mama's internet friend!

No real change from the last 2 days. Contractions are painful. I'm seeing more of the bloody mucus. Just fun times in the hospital...

Ugh, I am so sorry! How awful to have to endure days of contractions like that. Hang in there! EVERY single day that baby continues to cook makes a huge difference at this point.

You are doing an amazing job staying positive. Those sound like really painful contractions, I can't imagine. Did you do a birthing class to learn about labor/pain techniques? Just wondering I'd they would have staff that could come help show you was to breath through the pain and shift your focus. Maybe Bradley method stuff?

I rememeb when I was early in labor I tried to watch movies to help keep my mind off te pain. Are they giving you anything to sleep?

  30. Mrs Green Grass

    pomelo / 5628 posts

@Thehistoryofus: I think I could ask any of the nurses since they are labor nurses, but my own little method seems to do all it can.

They can give me Tylenol or Benadryl, but as funny as it sounds with all of the meds I'm now on, I'm trying not to take anything else since I haven't the rest of the pregnancy. I also don't think they would really work.

You know what's odd? The contractions are ALWAYS worse in the evening starting (right about now) at like 4:30. I guess hormones follow the circadian rhythm so nurses and docs aren't really that surprised.

@Mrs Green Grass: I guess it also may be like regular pregnancy where movement is typically more in the evenings.

I know what you mean about not wanting to take meds but make sure you are getting rest!!

Stay right where you are baby boy - you have a strong mama and I don't blame you wanting to meet her, you just have to be patient little one.

    @zippylef: Thank you!

I'd like to say things keep getting better, it's not really the case. My cervix has gone from 3cm when I came in 12 days ago to 1.4 today. The contractions have calmed a bit, but they are definitely progressing things. I'm not dilated at the moment. It looks like the blood may be from the cervix shortening.

So I need to prepare to have this baby anytime...yet...it could still be weeks if I'm lucky. I'm a little down about the news, but just trying to think positively. We will meet with the NICU later today so that we have more of an idea what to expect.

DH and I also talked about how when it happens, we need to flip a switch to "excited" so that we're not cheated out of welcoming our baby into the world. It's hard to go from hoping it won't happen to embracing it when it does, but we are going to try as hard as we can.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that the contractions are making your body progress towards labor. But tomorrow is 25 weeks and another milestone under your belt! We are all here for you and there are a few preemie moms around that can help you with more specific support.

You're doing a GREAT job mama, just keep at it. I can see how you need to get excited. Maybe think of it like every day is exciting and great. Today is another day your baby is doing well, and tomorrow might be the amazing day you get to meet him. We're all pulling for you guys.
