I'm curious to know how often your in-laws would visit once LO was born. Are they visiting more often now? When did the first visit start?
To those of us that are pregnant, how often would you like to see your in-laws during the first few weeks? When would you feel comfortable having them visit?
It's going to be awhile before we have to decide on when's best to have visitors, but I'm really curious to know what the norm is.

Both sets of our parents do not live in the same state as us so we don't see any family often. In terms of after giving birth, I was fine that everyone visited once I got out if the hospital. They were extra help and not an inconvenience. You're staying home with the baby anyway so I felt it was nice to have visitors drop in.

they don't come often, but we go to them about 1 every 2 weeks. My mom and dad see my son once a week. but everyone lives MAX 20 minutes away.

My inlaws live in Texas (a 2 hr flight from us). They try to visit 4 time a year.

My parents live ten minutes away and my in laws live 30-40 minutes away.
My in laws come once a week, some times twice. Some times we go up there, it's nice to get out of the house. My parents come a lot more often.
Right now we're ok with lots of visits because they're very helpful. They bring food, help with dishes, laundry, walk the dog and take him to the dog park, and help with the baby (especially nice to hold her when we eat dinner!) And I get migraines so my mom is always there when I need her to babysit.

Not often enough. My in-laws live 20 minutes away. They came to visit us at the hospital and once when we came home. After that they expected us to bring the baby to them out of cultural respect and what not. This was all unspoken expectations that we were unaware of. Instead we were offended that they did not want to come to our house to visit their grandson. They would rather us bring him to a restaurant that is 25 minutes away (for both us & the in-laws) just to meet up. That made no sense.
Fortunately it has gotten better. My SIL babysits for us often and would relay back on my LO's new developments. They couldn't stand it anymore and made their rounds to visit. Ugh. Wish that this never had to happen in the first place.
My parents come over all the time. They also live minutes away from us.

My MIL and FIL live 20 minutes away while SIL and BIL live 5. They are having a baby in Dec so I will see how MIL acts with them, but I fear that they will think they can come over every day. This is a no no and an issue we had when we first moved here. We have set boundaries and I hope they stay in place. MIL keeps saying she wants us to be honest and say no if we don't want her to come over, but she is one of those people who says things she doesn't mean. I don't see it going well.

My ILs come to visit about 3-4 times a year and never stay overnight so it is just a day trip (they live about 200 miles away). They started visiting about 6 weeks after my son was born. It didn't change too much from pre-baby to post-baby.

The first time my IL's visited in about five years was our wedding day this summer. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they visit when baby is born this winter, It's not like it's far, only a four hour drive, and they go four hours the other way all the time to shop.

I am 38 weeks and both sets of parents live 4 hours away and both are anxious to be here ALL THE TIME. I'm nervous about how to juggle all of this and still get alone time with just the 3 of us.

My in-laws live very close, and I have a feeling that my MIL will be over all the time once the baby comes. She can be a bit overbearing so we'll have to figure out how to manage it, but I just know that she will be so incredibly happy!
