I've never even attempted. Never thought it was possible and we have one at home (DH is a nurse)

I am 20 weeks and tried the other day and couldn't find it yet. I think somewhere in the mid 20's is when I found it with DD. It is a lot more specific to placement than the doppler and much more faint at first.

Are you using a fetal stethoscope or a regular one? I started finding it around 24 wks, and consistently around 28 (with a fetal, I could never find it with a regular one).

I started being able to find it between 32-33 weeks with my regular stethoscope. I didn't try frequently before that though so I guess I could've possibly found it before? It is MUCH much quieter than at the doctors office (obviously) and very easy to miss. I had to lay down and be in complete silence to be able to find it.

I started at around 18 weeks and never worked until about 25 weeks, DH tried and found it right away!! but then I kept trying every weeks and nothing again until 32 weeks, it felt like winning the lottery!! I guess it depends on the position of the baby and if you are lucky enough to place it in the right spot =]

I think around 20 weeks - she must have been at the right spot because she was a little choo choo train in there.
