I had tons of people ask if LO was planned. He definitely was (I charted!) but even if he wasn't, I'd probably never tell anyone. I don't think it makes a difference, I'm sure everyone loves their LOs every bit as much as the next proud mommy. And I think it falls into the category of nunya lol.

I think everyone knew my twins were not "planned". Having just brought home an adopted baby I was not planning on being able to get pregnant right away.

Everyone knows that G wasn't planned. I don't expect any of my future children to not be planned but if they were I have no problem sharing our "surprise"!

No on ever asked us. We'd been married two years and I'm obsessed with babies! Everyone assumed correctly that it was planned.

I wasn't planned and my parents admit it! I also have a currently pregnant friend who admits that her baby was a surprise.

When someone asks I just say she was a happy surprise! I'm not embarrassed because I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

They don't ask anymore! I use to say that she was a perfect surprise and we couldn't be happier! So far my Dr is the only whose ask if this one was planned...nope!

I had one person ask this question. I was quite insulted, as she WAS planned and it took a year of charting and almost going to a doctor to get her. Pretty sure they ask because we aren't married. (been together for 4yrs now.) -
I have a feeling my Dad will ask me if my pregnancy was planned, when I tell him, not because he is being rude or nosey, but because he will be 99% sure I'd say yes and likes the confirmation that I've thought about my decisions and I'm happy etc etc. I'm almost tempted to say no just to see the look on his face, but I'm not that mean.

I guess DS was a surprise. He was planned, but he just came about 5 months too early. I was sort of charting and clearly forgot to check the calendar that week! But the goalie was already pulled.

This LO was pretty much a surprise...but we're thrilled about her coming, so we don't mind sharing the whole truth.

Our LO was VERY planned, but the two people who did ask got this response -
"Wow, that's a very personal question. I'm surprised you feel comfortable asking that. I'm not particularly comfortable with answering it, but since you already asked - yes. Our baby was planned."
I'm attempting to retrain the world's manners through embarrassment and shame... lol

My answer is, "Why do you ask, are you that curious about our sex life?" My husband has an incredibly rude aunt that I like to shame. I have a vendetta since she asked us when we were going to have kids a year into our marriage- a very trying year of infertility.

I've been asked much ruder questions during this pregnancy. Since my EDD is 9 months to the day after our wedding, we've gotten this question a lot, and refer to it a our favorite honeymoon souvenir
I don't mind answering it, but could see how it could be a touchy subject for some.@Arden: I like your reply, and need to adapt that for the people who ask how much weight I've gained, and if I'm concerned about tearing (when they hear I want a med free birth...)!

Ours is hard. It was pseudo planned. We had JUST agreed to start trying and I was feeling kinda meh, so the next morning, out of curiosity, since AF hadn't started the night before like expected, I tested. And there were our two pink lines! It was like we said "lets have a baby" and my body was like "ok! I've got one for you!". lol. All the excitement, none of the work! Apparently we got pregnant on my previous O. The timing couldn't have been more perfect.
We say it was planned because it kinda was. It just wasn't planned to happen right that very second. lol

I find it unbelievable when people ask me this....but at the same time in not surprised. When people found out we were expecting #2 their first question was 'how old is your son?' 9 months(at the time) 'oh, was this planned?' No, but sometimes the best things are unplanned

Uhhg I get this question all the time! I have a 10 month old and am 3 months pregnant so everyone assumes this one was unplanned, but it was very planned! I always find myself making sure I point out that it was planned when I tell people I'm pregnant, which I don't want to have to do, but I'm afraid of people judging me.

People thought he was a surprise because of my age. I hate this question too! I never ask unless someone leads into it.
I'm not sure what I'd say if he were a surprise.

We got pregnant a little sooner then we intended. So I tell people that he was just in a rush to join us.

@Mrs. Pen: I'm also young (22) so maybe that's why they ask, but I don't think it matters. People also asked if we were pregnant when we announced our engagement (I was 19 almost 20) and it infuriated me.
I use the "I'm surprised you're comfortable asking that" line for a lot of things. People have gotten it after asking how much weight I've gained, if I'm dilated, etc.
I plan to continue to use it through all the childbirth and parenting questions as well - it's quite effective!

@MrsRoo: Yeah as if going med-free makes you more likely to tear or something... *rolls eyes* I've gotten that a lot too. I've used the line as a reply for a lot of questions.
