@snowjewelz: Oops just seeing this! Nope, no referrals to other docs. It seems to be drying out and maybe clearing up now? If not completely gone by Monday we will be going back to ped.

Hope you can get some formula samples! Hooray for 6+ months totally EBF though!!

@sunnyday: Holy crap! That seems so early! Is she pulling all the way to stand or up to her knees?

We officially have an army crawler here. She used her arms to drag herself a foot or so the other day to grab a toy but I thought it was a fluke. But every time we put her on her tummy know she army crawls and scoots all over! She even uses her arms to pivot and change directions. Really gotta start baby proofing!!

@IRunForFun: Aww yay! but yeah, the bliss of having an immobile baby is over! K just wants to stand up now; when I try to put her down in a sitting position she just sticks her legs straight lol. But other than being a ferocious eating, a big grabber, she doesn't feel the need to be on her tummy still, haha.

@IRunForFun: I think it is so fun when they start to crawl. Mine wants to so bad and is getting close but I still want her to sit up first! I think her head weighs more then her body.

She is still pooping overnight So I think I am going to try the other samples the pedi gave us. She is pooping so much more on this formula.

  5. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Smurfette: Aww! K is pooping a ton lately too; just not overnight.

  6. Smurfette

@snowjewelz: it is crazy how much more she poops.

Of course tonight she sat by herself without falling over for a while. Still falls a lot but getting there!

@IRunForFun: @snowjewelz: @Smurfette: Wow!! On the go! Mine is still content to hang out in a three square foot radius. I'm ready but also NOT for the big crawl, DD1's toys are everywhere!

Super TMI but DD2 loves to save up the poop then have massive blowouts. Her teacher described her last poo as "smelling like a dumpster" and I can't say I disagree, ha!

  8. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

    @babypugs: hahaha so lovely!

  9. sunnyday

    kiwi / 573 posts

@IRunForFun: she can do both! On us or the dog, or something she can get a good grip on, she can pull all the way up, crib or bathtub (in laundry basket) just her knees! She's so wobbly and it's horrible because she's obviously way too wee for this yet and falls hard if you're not with her!! Crazy girl.

    @babypugs: lol on dumpster, ew!!!

Now that we have switched for formula I neeeeeees to get myself some diaper liners! The poops are so so gross and it would make my rinse before laundry wash a heck of a lot easier. I don't even know where to get them or what kind, anyone use liners in their cd's?

I slept on my tummy last night!!! Boobs are on their way out, lol the worst is over. I'm still brutal at figuring out how much formula to give her in bottle, feel like I am wasting a lot.

B had her first pool swim Saturday on Canada Day and looooved it! It was so neat seeing her in the pool (with DH!)

  11. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@babypugs: LOL at smelling like a dumpster. DD is usually a 3-4x per day pooper, but once last week she hadn't gone in about 24 hours. When she finally went DH said it smelled like an terrible adult poop haha. Nasty.

@sunnyday: This isn't helpful because I've used the biodegradable/flushable liners in a couple of CDs and I felt like they didn't work very well. They got all bunched up and didn't protect the diaper much. Maybe user error? And I can't remember the brand and threw away the packaging.

Were you the one who said you used APNO on drool rash? DD got a terrible drool rash that looked so painful and I put some on last night. Already looks so much better! Thanks for the tip!!

Is everyone enjoying the holiday weekend? Canada Day and 4th of July so everyone gets a holiday right? We aren't up to much here but put DD in her little inflatable pool a few times and she loves it so long as the water's not too cold. Splashes like crazy! It's so cute.

DH has today and tomorrow off so I'm enjoying the extra night time help. We aren't going anywhere because I'm on call for 2 births but sometimes just laying low feels good!

  12. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@babypugs: @IRunForFun: sorry, but I have y'all beat. Not only does Nutramigen smell nasty going in and spit up, it is even worse coming out. On the plus you always know when she pooped.

Baby is 6 months today! We had friends over so we didn't do her photos yet or try solids. But time is going so fast. She is up on all four and rocking so crawling I'm sure isn't far away. She held one bottle for a little bit today. She might be a peanut but is a strong one(just like her sister was).

  13. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Smurfette: she really is strong! I have a lazy one that still doesn't really care to be on her tummy and is just doing the frantic scoot to get something. She is obsessed with grabbing everything tho and has pretty good coordination! She is still a beast at eating; I gave her some water on Sun when we were out the whole day and she figured out the straw pretty quickly!

  14. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: Bleh! We gave DD like half a scoop of Nutrimagen twice mixed with BM and it smelled awful so I can't imagine the full amount smell! And the poop! Has she stopped pooping overnight? DD finally started rocking on all fours a couple days ago. She's been army crawling and scooting for about a week though. Still doesn't sit up unassisted. We practice but she just keeps folding in half to play with her feet so I'm not sure how effective that is!

@snowjewelz: I'm so excited to see how DD reacts to solids! 2 weeks to go! I have a feeling she won't be that into them since she still doesn't try to go for our food much. It'll be interesting to give her food to play with and see what she does. Can't believe your DD figured out the straw cup already! Impressive!

I'm watching DD roll around in her crib instead of napping. If she doesn't fall asleep it'll be 7 hours between last nap and bed time...and that just can't happen.

  15. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@IRunForFun: all she cares about in life is eating. also i don't think it that hard for babies to figure out straw cup since they just suck on stuff all day anyway, haha!

  16. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@snowjewelz: That reminds me I need to look and see if I kept LO1's straw cups or not.
@IRunForFun: still poops but at least now it only once, and I think around 530/6. I think that's what is waking her so early. Hope she napped for you.

We tried peas tonight. Not a fan at all.

  17. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: Were peas the first food you tried? I feel like we might either try bananas or avocados first.

DD did nap finally but only for about 30 mins. She was pretty cranky by bedtime; just got her down, hope she sleeps OK.

  18. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: ha, 30 mins is standard over here. Yes, peas were first. I didn't want to do a fruit cause I heard you should do veggies first before anything sweet. But I might try sweet potatoes tomorrow. We are doing purées though.

  19. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Smurfette: Haha mine is not a fan of peas either!! @IRunForFun: We did bananas first with this one!

  20. Mrs. Toad

    persimmon / 1095 posts

@snowjewelz: @Smurfette: @IRunForFun: We have started solids as well. DD is sitting moderately well (at least in her high chair). DD also wasn't a fan of peas, but did seem to enjoy her oatmeal with breast milk. She has also tasted tomato, almond sliver, and 1/4 of a grape. Only the purees (peas/oatmeal) have actually made it into her. She is only a little more than 5 months, but we started DS this early too. I need to let her play around with the sippy and straw cups.

Otherwise, DD will sometimes sit - more often she goes for her toes and wants to be on her tummy. She can occasionally scoot and is definitely on hands and knees, but hasn't figured out how to move yet.

  21. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

Btw, today is DD's first day in daycare! Very bittersweet! My first didn't go till 10 months. But I feel pretty good since I know all her teachers. I called the check and of course she slept for like 5 mins total!

  22. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

Well she didn't like oatmeal either. Ha!

I can't believe our babies are old enough for solids! Mine haven't started yet as they show absolutely no signs of being ready and since they were a little premature I am not pushing it. Besides we still have to buy them highchairs since we have tripp trapp like chairs for our other two and they are still using theirs so we need new ones for these two.

The twins are not sitting on all fours yet. There are however rolling back to belly and belly to back. They just haven't noticed that they could move around that way I must admit that I am not too sad about them being rather immobile since running after two will be interesting especially since I started being a PT WAHM without childcare again.

  24. sunnyday

    kiwi / 573 posts

@IRunForFun: I think mine have bunched up in the past, but still get enough to save some mess. I am (I don't know why) debating quitting cloth, she just seems to yeast rash and I have to switch to sposies for a day or two. I realize I probably need to strip and all that, but part of me just ugh....plus if we move, I want to sell them here versus there. I'd never sell them there I don't think. Yes APNO on chin rash, game changer!

    @snowjewelz: how did she do!?

@Pumuckl: how is working going? Good for you for wham pt!

I am legit rattled about that 7 month old baby death with the blanket. Obsessed with reading the Mom's post and sobbing at her every word. Not sure why I am torturing myself. B hasn't used a blanket since she started moving in the crib, burnits just one of those things that it could have been anyone, and it was her, and it's just so heartbreaking.

  25. sunnyday

    kiwi / 573 posts

B slept 6:50 to 7am two nights ago, waking/4oz bottle at 1:30 and 4am. Last night 7pm bedtime, slept through til 4:10am (!!!!!) but then stayed awake until 20 minutes ago (8:30!) and is now down for nap. Definitely a huge change in B since stopping nursing.

  26. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Pumuckl: ah, how are you managing 4 while you work?!

@sunnyday: she did ok! super short naps as expected. not stressed about it since she can take a nice long nap after she gets home! I'm just hoping the germs will stay away!

I haven't read that news, that is horrible

And nice sleep! K still wakes at least twice over night but at least she usually is back down quick.

  27. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@sunnyday: I know. The last two nights I just want to go wake her and hold her after reading on FB. I just can't imagine what those parents are going through. I would need therapy for the rest of my life. I am glad that she made it public so hopefully it saves other parents from the same grief.
Glad she is sleeping better! Mine has done longer stretches the last two nights too. The only problem is like this morning she ate 4ozs at 430, so then when she woke up at 730 she only ate 2ozs. She never seems to have a huge appetite in the morning. So frustrating, I wish she would eat more.
@Pumuckl: I don't blame you for wanting them to be non mobile still. I can't imagine two. I leave the room now and my one is in a different spot. I don't know how you keep up with two.

DH texted me that her butt blew up this morning. HA! Said it was in her armpits and toes. He had to give her a bath. Glad that I had left for work and didn't have to deal with that.

I guess we will try a fruit tonight and see if that gets her into solids. LO1 was 100% into solids from the beginning, so this is so weird to me!

  28. babypugs

@IRunForFun: The 4th was so nice--wish we had more days off mid-week, ha!

@snowjewelz: How was day one overall? My DDs go to my mom on Fridays and now I miss checking in on the daycare app to see how they are doing!!!

@Pumuckl: We haven't started solids yet either, less than a week to go! Go you for WAHMing--I couldn't keep up I don't think!

@sunnyday: Me too, I keep going back to read it again. It's not healthy but I can't stop, my heart is breaking so hard for that family. I think it is hitting us like this as our babies are around the same age. I follow all the guidelines for a safe sleep environment but it still has me just horrified.

@Smurfette: Haha, glad your husband got that one! Good luck with the fruit tonight. Take pics

  29. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@babypugs: We got some great pics with the peas. I hate peas so I was secretly glad that she didn't like them. LO1 keeps asking to give her applesauce (no clue why) so maybe I will try the pureed apple tonight.

I can't find my solid bibs (catch the food) so I need to order some. But at least I have ALL (we tried a lot)the straw/sippy cups from LO1.

  30. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Smurfette: Haha wow armpits! Glad you dodged that one! Fruits are always a hit!

@babypugs: I couldn't stop reading it either. K didn't sleep well last night, and I'm pretty tired today, but I was just texting DH that I'd hold her all night if that meant she was safe

She was only at school from 9-2, so it's an easier transition! She obv barely napped; they are going to train her for me, haha! I think she likes it b/c she is super nosy and loves to look at and touch everything so it's perfect. My mom said she was stroking her teacher's face when she went to get her; so I guess she's already acquainted! Or more like, okay you're what I've got so pls don't leave!

  31. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Smurfette: I know, nice thing about LO2 is that we barely buy anything new! I just keep digging out the old stuff. But my DD1 is only 2.5 so she suddenly wanted all her old straw cups too!

  32. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Mrs. Toad: DD sits really well in her hair chair, or anywhere assisted, and has been getting better and better at tripod sitting or only supporting herself with 1 hand. If she was showing more interest in our food I'd probably start solids now. She has tasted things just by licking/sucking them. DH let her suck on the apple he was eating yesterday and she loved it.

@Pumuckl: So you are working from home with 4 kids there? How???

@sunnyday: We've barely been able to do cloth since DD constantly gets yeasty diaper rashes. We might become cloth diaper dropouts as well. That blanket story REALLY freaked me out. DD has been sleeping with her burp rap (it's one of those cheap breathable muslin ones) but I started thinking well she might be able to get it wrapped around her neck. I put her down without it last night but it really helps her soothe herself so it was tough. This morning I was a crazy person and measured out squares that wouldn't be big enough to get around her neck but wouldn't be small enough to get the whole thing in her mouth and cut it up.

@snowjewelz: Glad DD did OK! Nice that they'll nap train her for you, hehe.

@Smurfette: OMG toes to armpits. That's a lot of poop!! Hope DD likes fruit!! Some babies just take longer to get into solids, right?

@babypugs: I keep being tempted to re-read that story but I don't let myself. It's too horrifying.

DD has been extra cranky and clingy the past 2 days. Wondering if teething might be starting in earnest. I don't see or feel any tooth buds but I'm not sure what else could be going on. Not a fan of the whiny crying, but I am a fan of the extra snuggles.

  34. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@IRunForFun: She is probably going through leap 5! We got out of leap 5 a while ago and it was def more clingy, more separation anxiety and bad sleep!

  35. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@snowjewelz: Oh you're right. She is. She's just so sad. Napping now and keeps waking intermittently to let out a cry. We have also noticed that she's just begun to cry if there's something she wants and can't reach or get to and also if she gets hold of something she isn't supposed to have and we take it from her. She hasn't done that before, I think it's part of the leap.

  36. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@IRunForFun: Yes! Mine totally has the fake cry that I can tell apart already. She rarely cries cries; it's all the fake cry to either get me to hold her or get what she wants, haha! Last night, I literally just listen to her go AHHH, AHHHH, AHHHH for a while before I got her b/c she clearly just wanted me!

  37. Smurfette

@IRunForFun: @snowjewelz: Mine has been more whiny lately when we leave the room. 8 days left in the leap.......

Fake cry is so funny from B, she's soooooo bad for doing it with DH when I come in sight and then stops the moments she's in my arms!

Also, I started p90x3 today, and was dreading it. It was actually amazing, my DH just started it this week and hasn't shut up about how much he loves it (he usually just goes to gym at work/school and has never done it), and so I decided to go for it. It's just the weight. I'm not out of shape, my cardio strength is good, I had run 7k with ease earlier in the week, too. So I just need to trim up my food and dive into these workouts, hopefully the weight will come off. About 25lbs or so, man I live for the day my clothes fit. I really enjoyed the challenge of the workout, hopefully I can keep that attitude.
