@Calibee: no!! I haven't bought anything..And I'm not sure when or what i will! I hardly need anything, clothes we'll just recycle and most equipment we still have... I will need some season appropriate clothing but the shops don't carry them yet..
I'll probably put most of the things we need on the birth list!!

24 weeks today - viability!
Had an ultrasound to measure my cervix, which was fine, and they also peeked at the baby. Everything is going well so far. I'm measuring on track (and up 13 lbs!) so we will do a growth scan at 32 weeks. Had my GD test this morning as well. I've never had GD before and hoping to stay that way!

@winniebee: good news all around!
I had a doctors appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning but instead we have a blizzard coming through so they rescheduled for today. Is it horrible that I hate evening appointments because it almost guarantees I'll be a few pounds heavier than if they weigh me in the morning?

@winniebee: great news!!!
Had my scan on Saturday, and I think everything looked good. The baby kept flipping the whole time, so it took the tech awhile to get everything she needed. Stubborn third child!

@calibee: we haven't bought anything yet, but if it's a boy, we won't need much of anything, and if it's a girl, we will need clothes.

@Calibee: I bought a lovey for this baby to celebrate a good anatomy scan. Since it is another boy, we do not need much. I chose a coming home outfit and my mom bought it. I'll get another sound machine, new bottle nipples, and new pacifiers and diapers. I think that's it! He'll be using the nursery and DS2 will move to DS1's room with him. We did order DS2 a dresser and bed and bedding so once that is in, we will transition him (probably in April so that he has a few months to adjust).

@Calibee: I've bought 2 canvas storage bins (Target clearance), 2 stuffed raccoons (for lovies when she's older. The dude is obsessed with his similar fox), and a couple outfits.
I think most of us are baking baby #2 or 3, so I was wondering what items are on your "to buy/must haves" lists, if you have one? I'm trying to figure this out and husband is zero help, so I need inspiration!

I had my GD test today and passed! Whew! I was nervous about that one. I picked the orange crush flavor, it wasn't so bad considering its like pure sugar.
We also did an ultrasound to get additional images that were missed at 20 weeks. She looks good! The Doc didn't mention anything to me about my weight and I didn't look at the scale so I am okay with that.
I am considering switching to Midwives for my next visit since I would like a more natural style delivery. We also scheduled a hospital tour for next week. Does anyone have experience changing your provider at 24/28 weeks along?

@winniebee: great news!! Yeah for another milestone!
@Mrs. J: also great news! They are so cute when they're moving around!
@honey786: i was considering moving but my doc said it was far too late...Don't knwo if she just didn't want me to or if it really is here.. Anyway I'm sure it's different depending the practice...

@just_ju: for the moment not much on my list! ( I was going to say "our" list, but I'll probably have no male imput either!!)
I'm thinking a new changing mat, some new bottle nipples, a baby bath, a water sling and that's about it...For now...

@Calibee: i havent bought anything yet- but things I'm thinking of are boy clothes (since I have 2 girls), a new cosleeper since our very old bassinet is too tippy to have around 2 kids, a new umbrella stroller since ours died, hmm and that may be it. The joy of number 3 is that we really don't need much at all.

@mamainthesun: every practice is different and I to think you said you live in France, but I know here in the states you should be able To switch docs/midwives/practices whenever you want. I saw an OB with my 1st and kept thinking of switching to a midwife until I realized my OB is like a midwife but who can perform c-sections. (She is seriously the best- and now we are on baby #3 together).

@honey786: My OB has two midwives that work in his office and can deliver at the hospital. So I need to decide whether I want a midwife delivery or not. My first choice is my OB. But if he's not available I need to decide if I prefer a midwife or one of the other OBs who shares the on call rotation with my doctor (who I will not meet prior to delivery).
I'm torn. I honestly never thought I would consider a midwife delivery. I'm pretty pro-epidural and medical intervention sooner than later. But the idea of a familiar face in the delivery room is kind of nice.
Does anyone have experience with a midwife delivery? Pros? Cons? At this point I'm just crossing my fingers that I can have my OB do it again. I loved him last time.

@honey786: I had to switch at 22 weeks with my second pregnancy due to a move - it was completely fine! A few longer first visits but otherwise it was fairly seamless.
@Calibee: welcome!

@Calibee: thanks! Though I've never used a midwife before, I chose to this pregnancy. I wanted someone very pro vbac, and the practice came highly recommended from my breastfeeding support group gals. I like that they don't want to jump on the automatic pitocin bandwagon if I'm a little past due, and that they seem to listen to my wants and needs better than my last OB practice. But I'm still having my kiddo in a hospital (necessary in my case) and open to an epidural if needed... but I'm going to try for natural, if I can! Imo, it's the best of both worlds with a midwife. Gentler, more natural approach with medical intervention if absolutely necessary. I'm sure you'll know what's right for you though.

@Calibee: I went with midwives for both deliveries, and I loved it. I felt like they were really involved and there for me and the babies.

Thanks to everyone for the advice on switching! I think I will call the office next week.
Does anyone have any favorite nursing bra brands? I am either finding that there is not enough coverage or support (similar to a sports bra), or they are uncomfortable! I have ditched anything with underwire which has helped a lot but I am still not too thrilled with what I've found out there.

@PixieStix: welcome !
@honey786: i got most of mine at h&m, no underwire and comfy!

Anyone else experience a slightly higher number in their thyroid count? Had a blood test recently where they said my count was 4.16, and they don't like to see anything above a 3. I'm supposed to see an endocrinologist next week. Midwife says they'll probably put me on medicine.

@honey786: I really liked my Panache nursing bra last time. Nordstrom will also convert any regular bra to a nursing bra. This was a freaking lifesaver for me!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@honey786: bravado makes a super soft one without underwire that I like for around the house etc (body seamless). The other bravado one I have is more structured and I never liked it. I have one hot milk bra that I wore when size went down a bit and I wanted to wear nice normal clothing! They ran small IMO. I wore a medela sleep nursing bra at night. Mostly I just wore a ton of nursing tanks!!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Mrs. J: haha we are going to get one in may. What one did you decide on?
apricot / 322 posts
@honey786: I went to a local boutique for my nursing bras the first time around, per local mom's suggestions. Here's the store I went to, for an idea on what they carry: http://www.alamodeintimates.com/index.cfm
I used an Anita bra at first that was super soft and no underwire. I could wear it just about anywhere, even to bed, and loved it. But eventually went back to an underwire nursing bra. Just more comfortable for when I go out (I need the extra perk).
Also used an underwire Cake bra and loved that one, too. Especially after the fail that was the Motherhood clothing store bras. Those broke down so fast.
Anywho, I'd suggest a local boutique or a Nordstrom (like calibee said) for getting fitted and seeing what you like best. They'll be pricey but worth it. Good luck!

@winniebee: I'll chime in here as we bought a minivan about 2 years ago, shortly after our 2nd was born. We realized a van made way more sense than a big SUV since you can actually fit adults in the 3rd row of a van. On top of that we needed 4-wheel dr and there is only 1 option out there- Toyota Sienna. There are things I don't like (but they are all related to dealing with Toyota-turns out I've been car spoiled up until now) but overall it does a good job fitting all of us, family member from out of town and stuff and it's pretty good in the snow.

@purplelilac: that's what we are going to get - we live in Maine and need AWD!

@winniebee: we are going with a Honda Odyssey. We were going to wait, but it's the end of the quarter and they are really trying to get rid of the 2016 model (same as 2017 but better deals now), so it just made sense to pull the trigger now!
pomelo / 5132 posts
@purplelilac: exactly! I was totally against a minivan until I realized they are way more practical.

@Mrs. J: @winniebee: I totally forgot that we are planning to get a minivan as well. We've been dragging our feet because we've also been talking about moving and don't want to take out an auto loan right now if we're going to be getting a new mortgage.

I hope to get a minivan but not til much later. I have a newer Mazda cx5 right now that fits all our needs (comfortably will seat just the 2 kiddos we want) for now. But I totally fell in love with the Toyota sienna when my dad rented one to pick us up in when we visited. So roomy and nice safety features!

I'm currently sitting in the lab waiting room at my clinic, I have about 20 minutes left until my draw for the glucose test. I didn't have it last time, and I was reallllly careful about what I ate today, so 🤞🤞fingers crossed.

We have an SUV and no plans to get a new vehicle any time soon. But we also have three dogs.
Two adults, two kids and three dogs. We will literally only have the middle seat and the floor of the front and back seats to put anything else!

Is anyone taking anything to help them sleep? If I take a Tylenol PM I can sleep through the night (and go right back to sleep after any bathroom breaks). But if I don't take it, it is impossible to fall back asleep after waking up. The last three nights I've just been awake at 2/2:30, and I never fall back asleep. This is slowing killing me! But I don't want to take Tylenol if I don't have a headache or other reason to take it.
I plan to ask my doctor at my appointment next week, but I thought I would see if anyone has some miracle solution!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Calibee: I take 1/2 unisom 30 mins before bed. Every single night. Otherwise I have terrible pregnancy insomnia. My OB approved it.

I'm so mad and upset. I had my 1 hour GD test yesterday at 4 in the afternoon. The results came up in my online chart this morning, and I failed by 1 point (140/139)
I don't have time to do the 3 hour test - no babysitter for my toddler, no car to get to and from. Ughhhhhhhhh!
ETA: it's my birthday on Tuesday. Because of course.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@just_ju: Oh man that stinks!! When are you going to do the 3h test?
