It's so crazy that we're only 3 months away!

I'm sure we won't have a big bash, and we might have to have 2 on opposite sides of the country to cover as many family members as possible.

BUT! I'm fantasizing about having a sunshine theme- a layer cake with different shades of yellow (what are those called? Ombré cakes?) and maybe a yellow outfit and yellow balloons? Because LO is our sunshine and that fits a June birthday.

I've definitely thought about it! Kinda want to go all out, if we did that would probably have between 40-50 people. Our 2-bedroom apt can't hold all those peeps so it would have to be somewhere else. I'm thinking of contacting this awesome outdoor bar/restaurant (called the Boat Basin, in NYC) to see if we could do it there, that old be awesome but will probably be too expensive, we'll see.
I don't think I'll do a theme, I'm not creative enough and don't have the time or energy to put towards it. I wish I did tho, love the ones people have brought up already!

@rahlyrah: the first birthday isn't one the babies remember, but to me it's also a celebration of the fact that everyone survived that first year!

We are doing some very preliminary thinking. How did we get here already? I remember when we all were just finding out were were pregnant!!!

I think we are doing a super hero theme - mostly because my husband loves anything and everything superhero related. He has quite the tshirt collection. @rahlyrah: I am mostly just in the pinning stages, too.

@swedishfish: I am planning on keeping it small, luckily we don't have too much family here other than my immediate family and DH's aunts and uncles. I'll invite a few of my new mom friends and their babies, but mostly it'll be close friends and family. I mean, he won't even know what is happening!

I'm loving all the themes!

Ours will probably be just the three of us because we're so far away from family and friends. So no party planning here. I will make him a cake and I'm thinking of getting him some musical instruments (little bongos, maracas, etc.) for his birthday.

@Espion: You should get the B.Parum drum set. A got it for Christmas (from me!) and it is a drum and has a bunch of other instruments inside of it. He loves it.

@swedishfish: I think pink and gold is pretty! And it should definitely be easy to find/make everything.

My nephew's birthday is four days before A's, so we are going to do his the weekend after his birthday on June 14th and my nephew's will be on the 7th. I haven't done any real planning other than knowing we want to do superheros, but I did see a good idea for a favor - Little Golden Books! I thought that might be cute for the kids - and maybe some superhero masks.

How is birthday planning going, ladies?!

@Espion: it'll be just the three of us as well! We are also planning on gifting lo musical instruments! We'll probably go to picnic at the zoo and then maybe have a campfire.

@rahlyrah: We are starting to get ideas together, but haven't done any actual work yet. @Bookish: We don't have a spreadsheet, but I do have it all written out in Evernote, so I guess that is pretty organized, too!

We are doing a super hero theme at the lake/picnic pavilion where we were married on Kevin's family's nearby land. We are mostly inviting family and a few of my new mom friends.

DH has this crazy cake he wants to make, I'll post a picture.

I am going to make a cape for A to wear and the three of us will all wear super hero shirts. I am also going to make a backdrop like this photo that people can take pics in front of. We are just gonna grill out and have fruits and veggies and maybe corn hole so people have something to do.

We ordered this invite for B's party. Just have to go get it printed. One of the bees is also making us some banners

@Mrs. Taco: SO cute! I actually canceled C's birthday party. Maybe we'll just do it at a later date, but I got too emotional about spending the day running around playing hostess instead of just hanging out with C.

@tlcbaby: A party at a lake sounds lovely. I was going to do it at the neighborhood pool but I'm not sure a lot of the people coming would actually swim lol

@Pepper: I wish older kids were coming to ours so we could have an excuse to rent a bounce house....a neighbor had a water one out today and I totally wanted to crash the party!

Has anyone had their party yet? Ours isn't until the 14th. Are you going to do anything on LO's actual birthday if you aren't having the party that day?

I was thinking we could just do a few of his favorite things like go swimming, go for a walk and maybe go out to eat (my favorite, not his). I want to get him some kind of little cake or cupcake on his birthday, too. There is a local bakery that does gluten-free and even some paleo stuff, so I might talk to them.

For gifts, we bought him a bike helmet because DH's parents are getting him a bike trailer. I also want to get him a baby pool for the back yard, a convertible car seat (my Mom is getting us one, but we need one for the other car) and a wagon.

We're not having a party, but I'm making E a lemon cake and he's getting musical instruments. (I bought him maracas, a xylophone, and a floor tom. He already has a tambourine!) I think we'll taking him swimming the day before, since I know he likes it so much!

@tlcbaby: @swedishfish: I just spent the last thirty minutes reading our June due date thread. Seriously misty eyed over here!

@swedishfish: Do you know which water table they are getting? I want to get one for A, but a lot of them look like they are for kids a little bit older than he is.

@Espion: I cried in the car this morning because today is my due date and I just started thinking about how we have a one year old now (almost) and I couldn't hold back.
