@dc yoga bee: I hear you on the bloat! I have been bloated now ever since I got my BFP! I can't stand it! It feels like I just ate 3 Thanksgiving dinners!

@dc yoga bee: I've been bloaty from the start. Sometimes, it's less during the day and more at night. I swear at night, I look super pregnant compared to the morning. I'm waiting on getting a belly band, but may just go for it soon.

@dc yoga bee: omg yes the peeing! I have been waking up once a night to pee, and then am unable to fall back asleep after. It sucks! I remember in 3rd tri I would be up like 3 times a night to go to the bathroom. I am not looking forward to the increase!

@dc yoga bee: definitely bloated over here but honestly I have non stop gas! it is so embarrasing! This is something I have never experienced before
I will just be standing there and away it goes! Good thing I work with older people that can't hear very well

@BabyMats: Did I forget to mention the gas!?! It comes and goes. Also, how could I forget these crazy sex dreams?!?

Second time moms: did you have a period where the bloat went down before your bump showed up? I wear suits everyday and they're already tight. I'm wearing a pencil skirt with the shirt tucked and I look pregnant. I need some loose fitting clothes for work. I went ahead and ordered two work dresses and some maternity demi panel trousers from gap since they're having a sale. Hopefully, I can wear them the whole time and get plenty of wear out of them. They won't be here for 2 weeks anyways.

@dc yoga bee: For me, it took until about 16-17 weeks to show with my LO. I remember right after my 13 week appointment, one of the lawyers asked if I was pregnant, so the bloat was disappearing into bump by then.

@dc yoga bee: do you have a bella band? That was great during the in between stages.

I think that my bloat is finally starting to go down a little bit, I think my pants are starting to fit a little bit better.

Is everyone excited for their first appointments? Mine is on the 15th, so less than 2 weeks away! I will be exactly 7 weeks then.

    @MrsBrewer: so exciting!

Mine is not til the 27th, I will be 7 weeks 6 days. I am really nervous for it for some reason, I just don't FEEL pregnant yet, so it seems too good to be true...

  10. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@hilsy85: I feel the exact same way! I was just telling my husband this morning now that I'm nervous, because I don't feel pregnant at all I hope my little bean is still cooking in there!!

    coconut / 8861 posts

@MrsBrewer: My first appointment isn't for about three or so weeks. So long to wait to see if this one's okay. My bloat comes and goes these days. I really need to get a belly band to stretch my wardrobe out a bit. I'm cramping a bit right now from having some BM issues today. I took two Tylenol to see if it helps. I was super nauseous this morning because I forgot to eat this morning soon enough.

  12. dc yoga bee

I noticed the bloat went down this morning. Does a Bella band go around your stomach or something? I have a sonogram with the RE Oct 14 and then she will release me if all goes well.

  13. cascademom

    coconut / 8861 posts

@dc yoga bee: The Bella Band goes on your pants with the buttons unbuttoned up to your tummy if chose. It's meant to extend the life of your regular work pants into pregnancy before getting maternity pants. I wore a crappy one during my last pregnancy and treated it as a demi band. I'm going to get a better one that does the same thing in better material.

Whew, holy intense cramps. They hit me on my right side lower abdomen while we were making a stir fry. I just slumped to the floor. Then I googled, and it said as long as no blood it's probably my uterus expanding? Has anyone else had this. It went away, and I feel fine now. Today I'm right at 5weeks.

@dc yoga bee: I haven't had any sharp/stabbing pains with this pregnancy (more AF-like cramps from 3-4.5 weeks), but with Julia, I remember a few that made me stop in my tracks and cringe. I know for sure I had them at 6 weeks, but likely before then.

I am very very nervously joining. I got my at only 10DPO and have started the beta testing to make sure everything look good. This is my third BFP following two m/cs. I started my baseline on Friday where my HcG levels were only at 15 (lame), and I am waiting today for my second results. I am just going to be a hot mess today until I get my results.

    Location: Boston

    EDD: June 14

    How far along: 4W1D

    First child? Yes

First doctor appointment: None yet until HcG levels look good

Any symptoms so far? Backache, sore bbs, off and on headaches, and lots of gas. DH is particularly fond of that.

Who have you told? DH and my parents.

Can I also say my entire office is sick and I am slightly freaking out. I have been having lots of muscle aches, sort of like I worked out hard yesterday, but I didn't. When I talked with my doctor they said it sounds like I could be coming down with something. Like FML. If my bloodwork comes back good today I am taking tomorrow off. haha.

    How far along: ~4 weeks

    First child? Yes!

    First doctor appointment: November 3

Any symptoms so far? Pretty minor (but it's early). I had a couple days of awful fatigue and 1 night of insomnia before my BFP. I've been dealing with a lot of extra mucous in my throat too (one of my first signs) and have been pretty gassy.

Who have you told? DH was with me when I was waiting on the test and we told our best friends (who have a 4 month old and I've been talking to a lot about this whole process). I'm finishing up a couple of baby quilts that we are going to give to each of our parents when we tell them (hopefully this upcoming weekend). It will be the first grandchild on both sides!

ETA: Since a lot of posters have been including this too, I'm 27 (will be 28 at my due date).

@MrsBrewer: sorry, hon! I was hoping you would skip it. Hopefully it won't last too long.
I am 6 weeks on the nose and threw up for the first time today... I am trying really hard to get 8+ hrs of sleep and taking B6/unisom... hopefully it doesn't get like it did with my last pregnancy.
@Eko: welcome! good luck with your beta today! I hope it's hormones and not that you're coming down with something.
    @Mrs.KMM: congrats! welcome!

@MrsBrewer: Hugs. It's no fun. Mine's ramped up a bit this morning. No throwing up yet. I woke up this morning super queasy because I ate very little last night. Our fridge broke and we haven't cleaned out the bad stuff yet. I ate Pringles for dinner. I woke up so queasy this morning. I had a few Saltines before getting LO up. Then, I got more bouts of queasy until I just ate some Fruit Loops for breakfast.

@MrsBrewer: My OB's practice is really small. Just him and one Nurse Practitioner. They make sure you see the OB for your first prenatal appointment (6.5-8 weeks). Which will be great for me because all of my annuals have always been with the NP.

    @78h2o: Here's my answers!

How long did you TTC? 4 cycles (temped for all four, added OPKs this last cycle)

How old are you (if you are comfortable answering): I'm 27 and DH is 28.

How many kids do you hope to have? I'd like 3-4 and he'd like 2-3 so I have a feeling we'll end up with 3!

What part of pregnancy are you most looking forward to? Having a cute baby bump. I think pregnant ladies are adorable!

What part of pregnancy are you most nervous about? Losing the baby. I know so many pregnancies don't go to term and it is so early. I don't think it will feel entirely real until I either have awful morning sickness or we hear the HB!

    First child? Yes

First doctor appointment: Will be Monday, Oct 20, at 6 weeks - initially the doctor offered an appointment right away and I was pretty taken aback! I think 6 weeks seems pretty early but the doctor seemed to want it, so.... not saying no! I'm hoping we can hear the heartbeat then but I know we might not.

Any symptoms so far? Backache mainly and using the bathroom all the time. But that might just because I tend to drink copious amounts of water.

Who have you told? DH, 3 close coworkers, and 3 close friends. Felt like I "had" to tell those people, for various reasons. Trying to hold off on telling others until we hear the heartbeat and also trying to wait until November!

  28. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

    @DesertDreams88: Yay!! Welcome!

I'm so jealous of everyone that has told people (besides DH) about the pregnancy! My DH is being a stickler, and isn't wanting to tell a single person until we have our 2nd apt (12-13 weeks) so that means our parents/family included! I totally just want to scream at the top of my lungs, but DH is insistent on waiting.

  29. hilsy85

    squash / 13764 posts

@MrsBrewer: that's how we were the first time around (except we told immediate family--they would have killed me if I had kept it!). I know it's so tough to keep it hidden! I actually ended up spilling to two close friends before that because I was caught in a situation where it was obvious I wans't drinking and I couldn't come up with a good excuse on the spot.

  30. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@hilsy85: I would love to even tell immediate family!! I don't know why, but DH is very adamant about it, so whatever.....this will test my patience!

  31. DesertDreams88

    grapefruit / 4361 posts

@MrsBrewer: ugh that stinks! I see you have an appointment scheduled around 6 weeks, too?? FX for early heartbeat detection for both of us! Maybe then you could convince DH to bump up the timeline a bit I read that a heartbeat at 6 weeks means a 78% chance of the pregnancy continuing; and a heartbeat at 8 weeks means a 98% chance of continuing!
    http://www.miscarriageassociation.org.uk/information/ultrasound-scans/

My family lives in CT and my husband's family lives in WI, so we're dealing with the long distance aspect of telling people. My dad will be here visiting us Tuesday-Friday, and I have to keep the secret that whole time!! Oy vey! Haha. Lord willing, we will be at 12 weeks on the day after Thanksgiving, which is also DH's birthday. So we will probably tie the announcement into that.

  32. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@DesertDreams88: My appt is next week Wed! I'm soooo excited! I will be exactly 7 weeks then. (9 weeks according to the Dr office because they go off of last menstrual period) but I'm planning on convincing them I'm only 7 weeks!

That would be awesome! I would love to at least just tell our parents right away!

  33. cascademom

    coconut / 8861 posts

@MrsBrewer: I told my mom about the spotting I had. Luckily, the tests have gotten darker, so she was the first. She told my dad too. I also told a friend of mine whose trying for her first after I noticed the spot. I needed support, so I texted them. Other than that and HB, those are the only people in the know right now.

  34. cascademom

    coconut / 8861 posts

@DesertDreams88: Oh, I hadn't seen that statistic before. My first appointment is at 9 weeks, so hopefully all will be well with this munchkin.

  35. Mrs.KMM

    grapefruit / 4355 posts

@MrsBrewer: There is no way that I would be able to not tell my immediate family. The way I see it, they are the ones (in addition to DH obviously) that I would need support from if something were to happen with the baby. So they are "need to know" for me.

  36. DesertDreams88

I want to tell my parents and my in-laws so much, but here's the issue: they won't be able to keep it a secret!! Especially my MIL, she is.....excitable, and a talker So I know once we tell parents, we might as well tell the whole world. Anyone else in the same boat?

  37. cascademom

    coconut / 8861 posts

@DesertDreams88: My MIL announced my pregnancy with LO on Facebook before we did. I was hoping to avoid it altogether. Instead, she announced it for us. This one, she'll hopefully find out during Thanksgiving if our planning goes correctly for the holidays. My parents know, but haven't told anyone else.

@hilsy85: @MrsBrewer: Besides my husband, my sister and 2 coworkers know. I spilled the beans to the second coworker today, actually. She was in my office talking about her son and how she wants a second child soon. She asked me if we were thinking of having another anytime soon. I'm a terrible liar, so I went ahead and told her. I guess I could have just said, yes, and left it at that, but oh well. She knows I have had a miscarriage before, so she knows that's still a possibility. She promised not to tell anyone. I told another coworker/friend last week, as she knew we were trying and I had a horrible migraine and needed to explain why I couldn't take my usual medication.

My mom is coming this Friday to visit for a week (along with my sister) and I can't decide whether or not I want to tell her. My DH wants to keep it a secret, mainly because he is not doing well health-wise at the moment and he doesn't want my mom to worry about me handling everything without his help (and neither do I). However, I am feeling sick and going to bed at 9pm, so I don't know if I will be able to hide that from my mom while she is staying with me. My sister, who is lobbying for me to tell my mom, says the 9pm bedtime will totally give it away. I guess we'll see. I won't see her again until Christmas, so if I don't tell her next week, I probably won't tell her (or my dad) until then.

@DesertDreams88: My first appointment is the 20th as well! Seems so far away, but I guess it's only 2 more weeks! I will be 8 weeks.
