@MrsKRB: he said even if baby A is head down and ready to go....in the time between deliveries baby B could get stuck or cord twisted and that would lead to an emergency C-section. .....which they want to avoid. I understand...but I've read so much about it not being so automatic so I was surprised.

@Mrs. Pink: thanks! Yes that was basically his reasoning. I'll keep asking the different Dr's in the practice. I'd rather not be set in stone until we know what baby A is doing. If baby A doesn't cooperate then it's a straightforward decision.

    @runnerd: that makes me hopeful.

Wow on all the boys....but I guess it's easier to tell boy for certain at an early ultrasound than girl

I'm hiding in bed at the moment. ..avoid all the wrapping, cleaning and cooking I volunteered to bring places over the next two days....hah!!

At my NT scan last week, the tech was fairly positive that baby is a boy too, but the Dr. said it was too early. Blood will be drawn for the Harmony test on Monday so we'll know for certain by early Jan. I'd be thrilled either way, but I really like the idea of having 2 boys!

@Alba4: I had a lot of ultrasounds last pregnancy, and they guessed boy at 11 weeks (not sure what that was based on), 13 weeks, 15 weeks, and finally confirmed at 19 weeks lol.

I'm hoping to just have one reveal this time instead of sorta knowing for weeks!

Merry Xmas eve! Hope you all enjoy the holiday! I can't believe all boys so far in our group - I feel like everyone I know who is pregnant is having a boy! Same thing happened when I was pregnant with my daughter. 11 more days to suffer through until we find out!

@MMcAlli: I'm glad you like your name! Some people really don't so that helps! Congrats on your boy!!

@Alba4: Congrats on your (probably) boy too!

In my heart I feel like I am having a boy also, but we'll have to wait until June to find out!

We did our big reveal last night with the parents and in-laws. My MIL just stared at the ultrasound picture we gave her for what felt like a really long time. Then she turned it upside down. Then right side up. Then she read our Christmas card (because we also had an announcement on that and my FIL had already read it, got it and chuckled with enthusiasm, but he was waiting for my MIL to understand). She opened right to the inside of the card which makes our card make no sense because it just says "plus one". She just looked at us all confused then I couldn't take it anymore and I was like, "I'm pregnant!" Then she was very excited. Cue hugs and screams. She said she didn't know what it was at first, then really didn't think we would have kids so she knew that couldn't be it, then when I said it she finally believed it haha. I felt exactly like these people except my MIL was the grandpa and my FIL was the grandma.

My parents reaction was almost as good. I had my mom read our card out loud to make sure it sounded good (which she kind of said was a silly idea but did it anyway). When she read plus one, she gasped and said, "Are you really?" I said yes, then the hugging and congratulations. There was a snag because our plan was for my grandmother to go to bed then tell my parents. She just wouldn't go to sleep! Luckily, DH went to the basement and my mom followed, so when my grandmother wasn't paying attention, I motioned for my dad to follow me there too. We didn't get to talk about it as long as we would have liked, but it was fine. My mom still couldn't see why it was a big deal that we waited until Christmas and not told her in the car a few weeks ago, but whatever. Everyone knows and is happy and that's what matters!

Also I forgot to mention that I am also now in the second trimester!

@Dr. Pepper: yay glad your Christmas reveal went well!!

@Alba4: @runnerd: wow that they guessed so early! I asked at my NT (11w? I think) and my ultrasound last week (at 15w) and both times they said it's too early to tell, even though I already knew it's a boy.

@MrsKRB: glad you finally get to use your snoogle! My husband stole mine so I'll be ordering another one! haha

My 15w appointment went well, baby was measuring ahead at 16w and they moved my due date up to June 8 (apparently the date is locked down after this). @MrsKRB @MCD919 @Lately: we are now due date twins (quadruplets?)! We could see the spine and ribs during the ultrasound which was amazing!! My next ultrasound will be the anatomy scan in a couple of weeks!

We got some Christmas presents for the baby: two polo onesies and a pair of baby jeans from the Gap. So cute

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Glad to hear all the Christmas announcemens went well!

Welcome to the second trimester everyone!

I'm a PT in a busy tertiary hospital, we've just had 3 ladies go off on Mat leave so we are 3 people down with all the leave over the festive season. I find that I am staying late at work everyday which isn't good for me or baby. I worked late today and now I am cramping

Hope everyone has a happy New Year!

@Contemplating: have you told your employers? My OB put me on a "no working over 40 hours" restriction because my job was high stress (not physical just mentally taxing and rigid about breaks)

@Mrs. Pink: I am only scheduled for 37.5 hours a week, things have been crazy and I just need to be better about watching myself and drawing the line. It's just tough when you might be leaving a patient unseen or as a supervisor not meeting the needs of my team.

I need to be better at watching my self and leaving on time... Baby first!

@starlitsky: so cute! I wish wish we new what we were having so I could get things other beige onesies! Welcome to the June 8 club

So, we actually painted the nursery this weekend! We painted it navy blue, and if it's a girl we will add splashes of punk to it which I think will look really cool (although I think I'm having a boy).

@Contemplating: I hope the next two weeks fly by for you. Sounds like you're super busy at work so I'm sure your gender scan will be here before you know it. Definitely rest when you can.

@Mrs.KRB: Love love love Navy Nurseries, for either gender!!

Thanks everyone! Husband & I are over the moon with excitement for this little boy. I got a few outfits the day after Christmas. I just couldn't help myself. We announced to the family with a onesie that had his name on it. Some got it right away & some had a delayed reaction. It was pretty funny! Glad we know & now I can get started on preparing for this precious little boy.

I hope everyone had a awesome Christmas. Can't wait to hear BOY/GIRL for all those who are finding out in January!

-15w1d//16w3d <Will find out next week if they're changing my due date.

@starlitsky: amazing that you saw such detail of the ribs/spine on the ultrasound - yay!!

@Contemplating: Please take care of yourself! I know what you mean about trying to keep the department going with fewer staff and feeling like you need to take on extra. But I'm glad you realize that you and baby come first

@MMcAlli: How wonderful to announce with the onesie! I love delayed reactions to announcements like this - it makes it so much funnier to look back on!

We've officially told all of our family (over the course of 3 Christmases :-p) Each announcement went great in its own way and it so nice to share with our extended families! My mom let out a huge sigh of relief last night that she no longer has to avoid/omit things during calls with family!

Personally I've been doing better at hydrating the past two days which makes me feel so much better than I did on Wednesday/Thursday last week. Though, I did read this weekend that with twins my goal should be 1 gallon of water per day which is so much more than my goal has been and it such a daunting number. I don't think I can physically drink that much! haha.

Hope everyone else is doing well!!

    @starlitsky: what a pretty ultrasound!

@MrsKRB: oh yay! I love to see nurseries, we will have to start a thread once more people get going! I am dragging my feet this time around on thinking about the nursery, though we did try to organize the junk that's currently in there and more to other spots in the house.

@meadow: oh wow! I had to look up how many ounces are in a gallon, 128oz seems crazy! I drink a LOT of water, and probably don't cross 80oz except on rare occasions.

  22. MrsKRB

    nectarine / 2465 posts

@meadow: the 1 gallon of water doesn't have to be just water. It adds up quickly with food (especially fruit and vegetables). You could also carry around an old milk jug full of water like body builders do

Happy to announce that I'm off bedrest! I had my Harmony blood draw today. My Dr. even treated me to an ultrasound today and baby and uterus look great! I'm so relieved that all is well and that I can resume activity and just "take it easy". Bedrest may seem like a luxury, but when you have s two year old, it is not. I was going stir crazy, especially with extra people in our house. I am so thankful for all the help we received from our family, but looking forward to getting back to normal!

We are starting to plan the nursery, which is currently our office. @mrs.krb: I love the navy wall idea. Our office already has pale blue walls and navy curtains, so if it's a girl, we'll add pops of hot pink or something. I still think it's a boy.

    Hope everyone is feeling well!

@meadow: I know one gallon sounds like a lot, but I found out it can be done. I was into fitness before getting pregnant & always made sure I drank one gallon a day. I bought a reusable jug off amazon & keep it at my desk. I sip on it all day. Occasionally I add flavor (crystal lite) to change it up. Before I knew it I was drinking more than a gallon because I would finish mine at work & then drink more at home. Its very good for the body before, during, & after pregnancy. Only downside is bathroom visits. Lord at the bathroom visits. It was bad before I got pregnant, now it's even worse. I have been trying to not drink as much at home so I'm not getting up 2-3 times a night.

@Alba4: Glad to hear you're off bedrest. I can totally understand it sounding good in theory but with a toddler & work to do it can be hard. Just be sure to not over do it & hopefully no more bedrest is ordered.

  25. meadow

    persimmon / 1272 posts

@Alba4: WOOHOO on the release from bed rest! So happy for you

@MMcAlli: Yeah - that idea of that many bathroom breaks is too overwhelming. With my job I have an hour or two per day that I can go to the bathroom, otherwise there are 3 minute windows once per hour that I can sneak to a bathroom. There is no way I could imagine drinking more than my 40oz goal during the work day. Also, I am talking a good portion of the day and while I can sip every now and then, I feel like 128 would require me to drink pretty constantly! So that leaves me with drinking a large majority after I get home and yikes for peeing at night. HAHA.

I know that what I have to do is what is best for baby but man! Over the summer I was doing (in my opinion) a phenomenal job hydrating with a goal of 80oz per day - I can't begin to imagine another 40 fitting in my belly!! haha.....

When do you guys think it is appropriate to start researching baby gear? Second+ time moms - when did you do it with your first?

@meadow: Oh my, yeah with restricted restroom visits you definitely would be uncomfortable all day & I would not want to drink the remaining at home. You'd be up all night.. I truly believe just do what you can, as long as you're feeling ok I think the baby/babies are too. I mean these past 15 weeks I haven't been able to eat healthy or drink loads of water everyday, honestly I'm not sure what the poor little guy is getting between the food aversions & all the throwing up. But at all appointments my little guy is measuring ahead & doing fine. I think it's just in our nature to worry. As for researching baby gear, I've just started browsing & researching. I have asked several mom friends to let me know MUSTs & CAN DO WITHOUTs. So so so many options out there. It's overwhelming.

@meadow: I started researching gear early on with my first. I made my registry private and added more once we knew the sex.

  31. Alba4

    nectarine / 2951 posts

@meadow: I don't think it's too early. I think I started registering once I found out the sex at 20 weeks.
Thebest advice/recommendations for baby gear came from close friends and family who have young children. You can spend/waste hours reading online reviews for something the kid uses for 3 months! In hindsight, I think we over-registered, but it's easy to get excited and swept away by cute baby stuff.

I think hellobee has lots of good blog postings to help guide you when registering for the essentials.

    @Alba4: yay for dropping bedrest!

@meadow: I pretty much had 2-3 options picked out for each category at this point in pregnancy with #1 (I was on pelvic rest and had lots of downtime haha); I started a Baby #2 private Amazon list as soon as I found out I was pregnant, and started adding in the items I know I need, or wish I had first time.

Mamas you all are so great.
I feel like I have nothing to add! Only puking once a week, not concentrating as much on baby, lots of baby name talk, boring boring. @runnerd: great registry idea!
@meadow: I registered super late and for not very much, third tri, this time I already registered, waiting for a deal on convertible car seats! I bought some more newborn (cloth) diapers and MIL bought me a wrap (baby carrier). I may also get a bassinet or side car crib this time. Everything else we have. I made a list for my brother recently, I can find it and post it--they are expecting their first.@MMcAlli: the middle of the night pee breaks are such a bummer!

I scheduled my anatomy scan a little late so I have to wait till the 21st to find out.

Last time I started researching stuff early and trying to figure out cloth diapers. Then my mom came to visit and helped me with my registry (cause DH had no interest in the little things). She also helped me figure out CD and that I was completely over thinking it! This time I've been keeping track of some things we need but most of it is actually for my toddler so that we can reclaim the baby stuff for the new baby. We're doing potty training this week so I hopefully don't have to buy more diapers!

I'm feeling a lot better in the second trimester. Not sick if I don't eat, food allergies returning to normal.

Just u see 2 weeks until my anatomy scan! I have so many pregnant friends right now and they all found out early, so it's killing me! I don't know how you team green mamas do it!!

I've been doing better... still random nausea flare ups but few and far between. And now I can usually eat a full meal instead of a couple bites! Constipation still horrible, but I had issues before so I'll bet it'll be a whole pregnancy thing. Heart burn flare ups... and I miss sleeping on my back

I'm kinda jealous of you first half of the month-ers! So much exciting stuff going on and getting scheduled! And I'm just sitting here waiting for something... LOL! I know it'll be here quick but still...
