@MrsJBeeG: Yep, my teeth hurt all the time.

Many pregnant women have tooth problems for the reason you stated - the baby sucks all the nutrients from your body (including your teeth!).

I had a normal dental check-up when I was pregnant with my daughter and then 6 months later I had 8(!) cavities.

I'm 9 weeks pregnant today. My nausea seems to be getting worse but my OB said it peaks around 9-10 weeks.

I found out yesterday that my daughter needs surgery tomorrow and will have to stay at the hospital 48 hours after for monitoring I'm worried about the surgery (even though it's minor) and also keeping her entertained while cooped up in a hospital room for 2 days.

@skinnycow: wow. 8 cavities would suck. Shows you that babies/kids cause pain from day one. and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Glad to know it’s provably easily explained - I was trying to figure out why the pain was so bad every so often. I’m just trying to drink more milk (which I don’t really like) and eat more oranges every day.

Congrats on the 9 weeks - I hit that milestone Sunday. Will be glad to have my appointment right at 10 weeks to see if everything is progressing. I’ve been very zen - going with the idea I’m pregnant today - and hoping that all my sickness means a baby is developing just fine. But it would be nice to confirm.

Sorry to hear about your daughter - that would be hard and scary to me. I’ll keep her and you in my prayers - maybe more for your sanity than your health though.

Popping in to ask if any of you ladies would like most of a tub of preggie pop drops and most of a bag of stork ginger candies? Happy to send them off to another mom as I have safely escaped the 1st trimester 😊

@skinnycow: Oh no, so sorry to hear about your daughter. I'm sure she is in the best hands but so hard not to worry.

It doesn't help with the nausea either I'm sure, thinking about being cooped up in the hospital. Hopefully your daughter's procedure is uneventful and the time at the hospital passes super quickly. Hang in there mom.

@MamaBear87: You're so sweet. I think.. THINK... my nausea is starting to subside at 11 weeks. It was absolute hell and definitely was peaking at 10 weeks. I still feel queasy but it's not as intense... I had two good days in a row but yesterday felt awful. Today I'm not feeling great but not miserable either.

How interesting about the teeth. Mine haven't hurt yet, so I hope that's not a sign of what's to come.

@skinnycow: Thinking of you and your daughter! I hope it goes well and time flies.

@MamaBear87: Thanks for thinking of us! I think I'm surviving okay on my gummy bear binge, but if that doesn't look like it's getting better soon, I may hit you up!

@MamaBear87: you are so sweet. I’m hoping to turn the corner next week so it’s probably not worth sending them my way. I am living on sour jolly ranchers and Preggo Pops as my nausea had really ramped up now at 9 weeks.

Just an update. I got my routine blood work done today and got to hear the heartbeat. My next appointment is the NT scan at ~13 weeks the last week of November. We are foregoing the other genetic (blood) testing where you can also find out sex. We're Team . I opted out of the additional testing with my last two, and still am not AMA so it wouldn't be covered by insurance anyway. But if we were finding out the sex, I'd prob do it and pay out of pocket!

Can't believe we'll be out of the first trimester in the next few weeks.

Hope everyone else is doing well...I'm excited to find out what everyone else will be having if you decide to find out sex.

@SupernovaJ: if you want the nipt it's worth a call to your insurance. I'm not ama or high risk and they covered it 100%.

I'm excited your team green! I so wanted to be this time

Sigh. Feeling so tired of being queasy. 9w5days and I wondering when is it going to end????? I know it could be worse - I don’t throw up hardly at all. But it’s still rough day after day.

I was at work yesterday and my boss’s wife stopped in. They are both so excited for DH and I that it’s cute. They were working on Christmas themed announcements for me ... lol. And he was so disappointed that I am not planning on coming into the office after my OB appointment Monday afternoon - they both want to know all is well. It is nice to have support from the few people who know I’m pregnant.

By the way - my DH has decided it’s a girl and randomly told me last weekend “something tells me to name this baby XX” and threw out a full name. Now as it happens, the middle name is my moms name (she died unexpectedly when I was 22) so I’m on board with it. The first name is a name I’ve never once thought of. I can say I don’t mind it and it sounds nice as a full name with our last name. But has anyone’s DH done this???? Did I marry the only weirdo? And I suspect if we have a girl that will be her name as I don’t have any strong preferences and he’s pretty adamant that’s what she should be called.

@MrsJBeeG: My dad named me before they even knew if I was a boy or girl. Of course they had a boy name as backup, but he had a dream with every single one of us about halfway through my mom's pregnancies that we were girls. He was right 3/3 times.

  14. MrsJBeeG

    clementine / 787 posts

@Sams Mom: lol so Im not the only women who isn’t picking a baby name.

he recently dreamed this one was a girl and I know that’s why he’s convinced it’s a girl. He calls the baby “her” all the time. I guess we should think about a boy name as a back up.

@MrsJBeeG: DH and I have been discussing names. He has recommended some. We haven't made any decisions yet. My sister died last year and I want her name as the middle if a girl and my maiden name as the middle of a boy.

@MrsJBeeG: I agree about the nausea. I've thrown up a few times, but most days I seem better (at least in the morning and as long as I eat every two hours).

@SupernovaJ: @MamaBear87: I'm confused on all the screenings/testings we can get. A book I'm reading mentions the CVS test at 10-12 weeks. Did you skip that one? I'm so nervous about the testing!

@MrsJBeeG: That's really sweet about your boss. And my DH has a girl's name picked out and I picked out the boy name. I'm not totally sold on the girl name, so we'll see. We both think this is a boy, but we're Team Green so who knows!

@Mrs. Toad: I've been so sick I had to switch to chewable gummy prenatals because I haven't been able to keep the regular vitamins down. I have to eat very small meals every two hours and there's still no guarantee I'll feel up for eating by dinner.

  18. Mrs. Toad

    persimmon / 1095 posts

@foodiebee: I've been skipping my prenatals half the time. (bad me)

For the tests, CVS is an invasive test of the placenta. I doubt your doctors will do that one unless something comes back high risk on one of the noninvasive tests like NIPT (your blood with baby cells in it).

  19. SupernovaJ

    persimmon / 1141 posts

@foodiebee: I know, there seems to be more options or certain options are becoming more of the norm. I did not do CVS testing, I believe it's a little more invasive and recommended for higher risk? Not positive.

@MamaBear87: Regarding NIPT, this test was an option but not as readily recommended or available with my previous two pregnancies. Since I'm still under the age of 35 and low risk, I'm fine with foregoing it this time as well and will just do the NT scan at ~12 weeks. I do feel more and more people are opting for NIPT, which is great if they feel the desire to. Think some of it is also because they want to find out the sex early and in some cases as you mention, it might be covered by insurance even if you're not AMA.

  20. MamaBear87

    nectarine / 2288 posts

@foodiebee: i would do either the nipt or the nt test. Cvs is more invasive and usually only done if something else comes back high risk

@SupernovaJ: my midwives prefer the nipt because you get results sooner so if something does come back high risk you have more time to decide what you are going to do. Finding out sex was just a plus for us. I honestly missed the really detailed ultrasound that we got to do with the nt last time

  21. SupernovaJ

    persimmon / 1141 posts

@MamaBear87: It's definitely a personal choice. We wouldn't do anything differently if the results came back abnormal hence the reason we chose to opt out. But I know some people like to plan and prepare too, so it's great they have an option.

Sigh. Sorry to post at times but just need to share. Did well all week with my sweet pup being gone. Then today they delivered her ashes and a sweet card with her paw print on it and I’m a wreck. Blindsided by the grief again.

I don’t think pregnancy hormones are helping and so tired of feeling ill every time I move. Just turning into a not so good day for me even though the sun is actually shining in the Pacific Northwest!

My daughter's surgery went well and she's out of the hospital and doing great! I slept in the hospital bed with her (DH on the tiny cot in the room) so we're happy to be home in our own beds.

I'm feeling pretty good overall. I managed to eat meat twice today which is probably a record over the past few weeks 😂 I bought a fetal doppler and was able to find baby's heartbeat today. Totally worth the $45 for peace of mind until I can feel movement.

So excited! Perfect sized baby with the perfect heart rate measuring spot on for the due date. I think I’m so stunned after two back to back losses to have such a good appointment.

I only said the serenity prayer to myself about 100 times today.

@skinnycow: Isn’t it so nice to be home? So great her procedure went well!

I wish I had a Doppler! I feel like I’d have trouble finding the heartbeat, was it hard? Are there general instructions on where to place it? It took my nurse a minute or two to find it last week, I feel like I’d probably take much longer!

  33. skinnycow

    pear / 1728 posts

@SupernovaJ: I watched some YouTube tutorials on using them so it wasn't too bad. It took me awhile to find the heartbeat the first time but I've done it twice since and was able to find it within a couple minutes.

@skinnycow: So glad to hear that your daughter's surgery went well! That's wonderful news and I know it takes some stress off of you.
Your bump is cute! I don't really have anything yet, but I've read you show later with #1 and a back-tilted uterus, which I have. Most mornings I wake with no bump and am so (painfully) bloated by bed that I look like I have something, but it's gone by morning.

@MrsJBeeG: Yaaay! So happy to hear you had a good apt!

  37. skinnycow

    pear / 1728 posts

@foodiebee: I was told I have a back-tilted uterus also - never came up in my last pregnancy but ultrasound tech mentioned it at my appointment!

My bump is not nearly as large in the morning but my stomach is still rounded.

  38. SupernovaJ

    persimmon / 1141 posts

@skinnycow: Such a cute little bump! I think that’s totally normal for the bump to be larger end of day and flat again in the morning. I’m still in that stage too, and haven’t popped yet. I also have a “tilted uterus”!

  39. foodiebee

    kiwi / 662 posts

So interesting to hear others here have a tilted uterus too! I'd never heard of it until I went to the RE.

AFM, we had our first OB apt yesterday. It wasn't anything like we expected (no u/s!). OB took lots of blood and generally got up to speed with everything. We had blood drawn for the MaterniT21 test. My OB looked a little concerned when we mentioned the genetic abnormality some of my eggs have but yet we'd opted not to PGS test our single embryo. We agreed to do a more in-depth ultrasound later on (can't recall what she called it exactly). Now to wait for the test results ...

@foodiebee: Fingers crossed for quick results!

I'm getting my blood drawn this afternoon for my NIPT (Innatal). Results took about two weeks with my daughter so hopefully it's fast this time. We're doing a small gender reveal with our families on 12/8 - seems so soon to find out!
