Hi Ladies!
Today is definitely a Monday. I woke up early this morning with a pretty bad headache, but after Tylenol I could finally go back to sleep for a bit. I woke up to use the bathroom, and when I wiped I noticed there was a tinge of red/brown on the toilet paper. I had my first ultrasound last Friday (which everything looked good) and my Dr told me I may experience some bleeding. I will give them a call once they open, but I just wanted to come here and see if any other women have experienced this, and when do I need to worry? I had cramps not too long ago that lasted about 5 minutes or so, which caused a little back pain. It wasn’t extreme pain, I just felt the need to lay down. My breasts aren’t sore this morning, which of course is worrying me, but then again, the tenderness will come and go. Anything and everything at this point is worrying me.

@JessieKoger: I don't have experience but just wanted to chime in that bleeding in early pregnancy can be (and usually is) completely harmless. Symptoms coming and going is also normal. I know it's hard not to get worked up about every small thing during early pregnancy, though.
FWIW I never had any bleeding during the pregnancy I miscarried (missed miscarriage) and I think bleeding is only really a cause for concern when there's a lot and it coincides with cramping. Fingers crossed it's nothing!

Did they tell you you might bleed because you had a transvaginal ultrasound?
I had light bleeding in my second pregnancy and on and off cramping and it was due to a small hematoma from the baby implanting. It was gone around 6.5 weeks. And the baby was fine. It’s very worrying to even see a drop of blood so I hope the doctors reassure you. And as skinnycow said symptoms come and go and so can spotting during the early weeks for people.

I had spotting that persisted & increased to red blood with my miscarriage, but also had a single larger amount of red blood with my successful pregnancy, both around 5-6 weeks. Wishing you the best. Do check with your doctor.

I spoke with my Dr’s nurse and she said everything I was complaining about is common in early pregnancy. She said if the cramps will not go away even after repositioning or taking something for pain, that’s when we should worry. Spotting is okay, which I knew, but I still wanted to know when I needed to worry.

@JessieKoger: was it a transvaginal ultrasound? That could definitely cause the spotting. I had some light spotting when I was pregnant with my first and everything was fine. I would only worry if it become heavy like a period. Cramps are normal too as everything is stretching to accommodate the babe.

I had not-at-all light spotting - I had enough red blood that I put in my divacup and told my husband I was having a miscarriage - at about this time, and then again at 8 weeks. He's 2.5 now. I have no idea what caused the bleeding, and it was stressful as hell, but it turned out ok. Fingers crossed!

Spotting can be totally normal. I’m sorry that you are now anxious.
Spotting has gone either way with me. For my second MC, I had super light spotting around 7 weeks. But I also had my first MC without any spotting at all- I just didn’t have a heartbeat at the 8 week appointment.
With DS2, I had light spotting and then a major bleeding episode (which ended up being a complete placenta prévia). He’s totally healthy, but I was placed on modified bed rest for MONTHS.

I had spotting at 6 weeks and then again around 12 weeks. Bright red both times, although not a ton. It was terrifying, but she was fine and is 3 now.

@JessieKoger: I had red bleeding at 6 weeks during my second pregnancy (he’s now a beautiful 1 month old). Got my ultrasound a few days later and it was a small hematoma that disappeared and the rest of the pregnancy was totally fine.
The bleeding lasted a few days and definitely worried me. It sounds like your spotting could easily be from the trans vaginal ultrasound, but it’s understandable to be anxious! Hoping it goes away soon and you have peace of mind -
I had no symptoms in my early pregnancy, but I did start bleeding at 6 weeks. Just try to rest as much as you can. I believe that rest saves babies. I am sure you will be just fine! ETA: I bled my whole pregnancy and was a stress case for 9 months and my baby was just fine!!

I'm sorry, early pregnancy sucks. Like others say, bleeding is often perfectly normal...
And about bed rest in early pregnancy, I'm skeptical except of course in specific cases where your doctor recommends it. Just don't want you to feel like you should be doing this if it is not feasible. I did get put on first tri bed rest by my RE due to an SCH (much more bleeding than what you describe). But the RE said it was basically just so we'd felt like we were doing everything and that there's no evidence it works. It turned out the SCH was because of a genetic abnormality (not usually the case, just so happened in my specific case).

@JessieKoger: I didn’t, but everything can be pretty sensitive there during pregnancy and also some people are just more sensitive overall and their body bleeds after a transvaginal ultrasound. So I wondered if that’s why they were telling you you might bleed or if they were telling you that because of seeing a hematoma on the ultrasound. Sometimes the techs will ask you if you have bled or tell you you might expect to because of the hematoma which can vary depending on how big it is.

I had spotting when I was around 4 weeks and a few days. That was brown and slightly heavier. I'm wondering if this is from the transvaginal ultrasound..
