@maddyz: so exciting! I saw your name on the list earlier today and was trying to remember if you were going to find out. Can't wait to hear!

@maddyz: Congrats!! Love all the
Well, I had an unexpectedly trying morning after a super vague voicemail from my doc last night saying I need to repeat my anatomy scan with a high risk doc. That's all she said, and the office was closed and I couldn't call back! To make a very long story short(er), it took me calling this morning and her not telling me anything, and my husband calling and refusing to get off the phone until she read him the US report, for us to get an answer.
The bad quality of the inital scan meant the doc reading the US was suspicious of a potential marker for spina bifida. I am super hopeful that seeing the high-risk docs with better equipment will just put all this to rest and everything will be fine. My scientist DH is telling me that the odds are still very, very much in our favor for a perfectly healthy baby.
We're going to the high-risk doc tomorrow at 2. Thank god for the quick appt. I am so nervous

@loopedd: hope it all goes well! we have our level 2 on Saturday, so I am right there with you, praying that everything is normal!

@loopedd: I'm so sorry; that's so scary to not know what's going on and to not get answers. I'm happy you get to see a high risk doc ASAP. My daughter also had a marker for spina bifid last pregnancy, and we had to do the level 2 ultrasound. Everything turned out fine (hoping it's the same for you)! On the bright side, you get to see your baby again and hopefully walk away with TONS of pictures! I'm here of you need to chat.

@loopedd: That must have been so frustrating to get such a vague response from the doctor. They must know how much something like that would make you worry! It's good you got in quickly for an appointment though, I'm hoping everything goes well tomorrow.

Ugh, sorry I'm terrible at keeping up with this thread- this pregnancy + toddler combo is kicking my butt! Anyways, add me in with the !! Anatomy scan today showed a healthy baby girl- so excited!

@HeartAbandoned: Thank you!!
I am very, very, VERY happy to report that our little boy is looking perfect! The MFM doc we saw gave him a glowing report. It was a long afternoon, with lots of waiting, but ultimately it turned out fine.
We also got our due date changed AGAIN! Back to the original, Feb 27. Doc was really certain that the u/s tech that told us Feb 19 was mistaken. And I think it aligns with my suspected ovulation date better, too. I lost a week but I'll take it for a healthy baby!
Many, many thanks for all the good thoughts. I really appreciate it!
@MsMiranda: Congrats on your girl!!

@MsMiranda: Congrats on the girl! What gender is your toddler?
I've actually had a bit more energy this week which is awesome. I hope it stays with me for a while, it's making life so much easier! I can't believe how fast time is flying by, it's Thanksgiving weekend already for us ( well after tomorrow it is! ) I can't believe it's just about half way through October already!
Is anyone coming up with names? We have ours picked out and I'm pretty sure it won't change as there's basically no names that we agree on. I like it, it feels funny to refer to the baby with a name ( though we aren't telling anyone we have it picked out.. well, Ok, I told my mom and sisters but that's it and I tell them everything haha. And I only told them the first name and not the middle name)
We have the crib sitting in the garage, dh is on holidays from Nov 1-12th so I hope to get the spare room cleaned out and painted and the crib set up on those days. We shall see though

@MrsB2012: We've been in love with a girl name since before I got pregnant...but my cousin had a baby a couple months ago and she used the same middle name we wanted. Not usually a big deal, especially since it's a version of a family name, but a possible nickname for our daughter would be the same name as her other child, so it's a little weird. We're having a hard time coming up with something else we like.

@MrsB2012: I have a 15 month old son Ian, so I'm excited to experience the girl side of things! Think my husband might be less excited about the impending shopping though...
We have our name set- it's been set for a couple years as it is after two of our grandmothers. Our daughter will be Cora Violet.

@MrsB2012 we had a boy name all picked out and had been struggling with finding a girl name. I was a bit relieved when we found out it is a boy! We are keeping the name a secret despite much pestering from MIL and others.

@Mrs. Lion: Yay due date twins! Thanks to you alllll for very good thoughts.
@MsMiranda: I loooooove Cora Violet! I know an insanely cute Cora
We've been set since we knew he was a boy, since we've been arguing over names for years He is Luke Alexander, and DH tells literally everyone he meets, so there are no secrets here!

@MsMiranda: Congrats on your baby girl! I love her name
@loopedd: So, so glad for a good report! And he's got a great name, too!
We decided on a boy name and a girl name really early on (like, 5 weeks). We kept them both a secret until we learned we'll be having a little boy, and have since told people in person what his name is. We're keeping our girl name under our hats in case we get to use it some day! We've decided to keep his name off the internet though, even FB and Instagram, and unfortunately that extends to HB. He will share DH's initials (he'll have DH's middle in addition to our last name), and I love that

We had our level 2 ultrasound today, and still dont really have any answers. Im actually a little more scared than i was before the appointment. Still no other downs markers. Everything else looked perfect. But the doctor said there is a really tiny chance it could be a tumor, but we wont know that until we see whether or not it is growing...so we have another appointment in 2 months.
With all of the testing i had from the first trimester our chances of downs were 1/10,000, but with this heart thing It increases the chances 25%, so roughly 1/7500, which i guess is still pretty low. He said we could do a blood test that is 99% accurate or an amnio, but we passed on those for now. I may change my mind about the blood test though. He said theres a small chance of a false positive with that test, so dh didn't want to do it yet. But if start feeling anxious about it we may go ahead. It wont really change anything, but i like to have as much info as possible and if this sweet girl does have downs i would like to know sooner rather than later.
I did feel better though when i looked up the general population risk of downs. For a mother my age like 1/1000 or something. So the fact that our risk is so much lower than that at this point made me feel much better. Im trying not to worry. Im so thankful that i got to see her wiggling around and sucking on her fingers im still not feeling hardly any movement, so just seeing her in there is always such a relief.

@Mrs. Lion: I'm sorry you didn't get the definitive answer you were hoping for, but it does sound like your risk is still very low. I think I would have a pretty hard time waiting two months for them to check it again. But hurray to seeing your sweetie move around; it's one of the neatest things to see.

My LO was jumping around a lot this morning, so my husband was happy to feel several good kicks. He decided to put his ear to the bump to try to hear something, and he got kicked in the face. Now he believes we have a soccer player coming.
We have chosen a girl name; it just came up and seemed pretty perfect! So that's a relief. Now we just need to find some boy names we both like.
I'm starting to get nervous that my shower hostesses haven't picked a date yet. I really want it to be sooner rather than later to help me feel more settled and prepared. We will be moving from here a few months after baby comes, so we aren't doing a nursery and mainly registered for the early essentials. So far baby has a bunch of clothes I bought at the consignment sale but little else. It's so tempting to go buy all the basics to ease my mind, but then there'd be nothing much left on my registry.

@Mrs. Lion: Thanks for the update. I'm sorry you still feeling unsure -- I think it's good that the blood test is there as an option. The odds, as you said, are still VERY much on your side. Thinking positively for you! And seeing her move around must have been wonderful!!
@Iced Tea: My DH has yet to feel anything from the outside -- he'd love to get kicked! And I totally understand being nervous about dates (I like to plan things way in advance) but I am sure things will fall into place. Have they asked if you have any timing preferences?

We plan to get the Maxi-Cosi Pria w/ Tiny Fit car seat, and right now it's on sale at BRU for $60 off! We were planning to wait a while to get the car seat to make sure no new safety recommendations or recalls came out, but should we just get it now? ... Not sure.

@Circusbee: I would check their return policies. If you have a couple of months to return it, then I might buy it now.
