Thanks for all of the congratulations everyone!!' I just posted details on the labor watch thread. I can't wait to hear of more March baby arrivals!

So I'm past the "not ready for him to be here stage" hahahhaha. I'm dreading DH going to work tomorrow because I'm so drained and I feel like such a crap mom the past few days. I just wanna rest in quiet, which doesn't happen when you have an almost four year old and a two year old, haha.
When I'm feeling particularly impatient I look up studies on days that women go into spontaneous labor. Up until this point (38+5) there isn't a significant increase in probability each day. But from here on out each day that passes I'm significantly more likely to go into labor! Lol

@Navy_Mommy: I completely feel you...I am not quite ready to say "I want this baby to come out" but this past weekend was HARD...and I was away a lot...so not even single parenting...
But yesterday DH went to play golf in the AM and I was solo with K for 2 hours before the sitter came (I had a baby shower to attend)...it was bad - I felt like the worst mom ever. I talked her in to watching a movie (she's really in to Tinker Bell right now) and then painted her toes...such low activity activities...I felt awful. But its just too much.
I cannot wait to feel more energized and be able to do more with her/DD2.

@Navy_Mommy: I'm right there with you feeling like a crap mom! My patience and energy are so low, and he's been sick and super cranky. Ugh
@Mrs D: agreed, can't wait to feel like my old self again!

@princessandthebee: Oliver is getting two year molars and I'm cut off from coffee because of my blood pressure. I'd be a shitty mom even if I wasn't 39 weeks pregnant, lol.
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@Navy_Mommy: I will pray for you...I dont think I would function without my daily cup of coffee...
My sleep has reached new levels of shit...I literally am up every 45 mins...usually around 4am my body is so tired it finally sleeps for 2 hours until my alarm goes of at 6am and I start cursing,..
Just makes me sad...I am truly trying to remind myself to enjoy these days...likely my last days pregnant ever...but its SO hard...
nectarine / 2458 posts
@princessandthebee: two year molars are the devil.
And we've been having the CRAZIEST weather. Last Monday we got 8 inches of snow. Tuesday it was 50* and raining. Then cold again. Then 60* and raining off and on for the weekend. So all of our sinuses are going crazy which I'm sure isn't helping his teething pain.
Then Saturday Wesley was running and fell into our end table eye first. We spent 3 hours at urgent care for them to tell us it isn't fractured and they gave him a butterfly bandaid. Now he has quite an impressive black eye.
It is just too much all at once. But such is life, hah. And people have started with the, "do you think he's coming soon!?" messages/texts/etc and I respond, well I'm assuming he'll be here in the next couple weeks, so that depends on your definition of soon.
nectarine / 2115 posts
@Mrs D: ugh, I'm right there with you on sleep. Every movement requires me to wake up and brace my belly, and then most of the time I have to get up and pee.
@Navy_Mommy: oh man, so sorry about the coffee! That plus two year molars must make for a hellish time!
We had unusually good weather this weekend, so we actually got out and about. Watching my daughter play outside made me feel so guilty for keeping her in so much! I'm hoping that we have more if this good weather so I can take her out and let her run around before Oliver arrives.

@mrsrain: I dragged my butt (with DH the boys and one of our dogs) to the beach yesterday before the rain started to get the boys some fresh air. It was nice to be out, but I felt EXHAUSTED after walking on the sand.

@Navy_Mommy: we went to a birthday party at a farm, and after ten minutes of walking around visiting the animals I was exhausted and contracting. I can only imagine how much worse it would be to be walking on sand AND much further along!

@Navy_Mommy: I was saying this to my husband yesterday - with Bennett, when they told me at 39 weeks they were scheduling my c section for 39w3d I thought "No, I'm not ready!" If they told me today they were scheduling a c section for 3 days from now I would think "Oh thank GOD". And I'm only 36 weeks! That's a good statistic, that from here on out you're statistically more likely to go into labour every day - it's all downhill now! But WHY WHY WHY do people send those messages! It's like "Listen. I want him here way more than you do, I promise I'll tell you, in the meantime THIS IS NOT HELPING!" Glad Westley is ok!
@Mrs D: I think that every day when I pick B up from daycare and have 45 minutes alone before my husband comes - "If I can't deal with this, I'll just put on Peppa Pig." And I don't think anybody enjoys their last few days of pregnancy even if they'll never be pregnant again. You should have enjoyed the second trimester. Now it's too late.
@mrsrain: We also had great weather this weekend, and we did not take advantage of it, and now I'm feeling a bit guilty. Instead we dragged poor Bennett to the mall and then he fell on his face and conked his head against the corner of a shelf in the Gap (the kid has such a pocket obsession that he won't take his hands out to break his fall!) and now he has a giant bruise on his forehead.
People keep asking me "How are you feeling?" and I don't know what to tell them. Um, I feel enormous, my feet swelled up this weekend and now I can't fit into most of my shoes, the left side of my pelvis is sore all the time, and I spend all my time either drinking water or hobbling to the bathroom, I have four doctor's appointments this week, and I'm looking forward to having a newborn so that I don't have to get up at 5am and go to work anymore. Feeling great, thanks! I should put a sign on my desk that says "Don't expect a lot from me right now."

@erinbaderin: it should be illegal to ask a super pregnant woman how she's feeling. "How are you feeling? Are you totally done yet?"
Like, you don't actually want to hear how I'm feeling. Lol. Don't ask.

@Navy_Mommy: DH took K to the park Saturday morning (I was out still from my Friday night Sprinkle)...when I got home he said "do you want to go back to the park or we can just play in the front yard with bubbles. I opted for the latter...mostly sat on my butt the whole time and was still exhausted...
@mrsrain: This is what gets me...if I do too much my BH kicks in bad and just makes me feel miserable!
@erinbaderin: honestly...its awful but I dont know that I have enjoyed any trimester this pregnancy... So ya, I'm a lost cause....
Ugh...and people who ask "when do you think she'll come"...like if I had a frickin way of predicting when babies would come I would still have my 9-5?!
persimmon / 1328 posts
@Mrs D: @princessandthebee: @Navy_Mommy: @erinbaderin: I am another one feeling like I don't have the energy to do fun stuff with DS1 right now... but I am not at all confident that will get better once the baby is here! Yes I am up 3 - 4 times a night to pee, but I am back to sleep in under 5 minutes! I am so scared of taking care of a toddler once the newborn sleep deprivation kicks in!
And yes, people should be banned from texting/mailing pregnant women around their due date and asking if the baby is arriving soon / has arrived / where is the baby? I want to kill those people!

@Navy_Mommy: "I've been done for 6 weeks now, thanks! Do you have any helpful advice or are you just rubbing in the fact that you AREN'T carrying 30lbs of another human who keeps kicking your bladder?" << what I'm going to say next time.
@Mrs D: I got a Huggaloops stretchy wrap and when it arrived I immediately put it on and tried to stuff a doll in it. My husband showed up to find me trying to jam a stuffed porcupine the size of an 8 month old into it, working around my giant belly, and basically just backed out of the room quietly.
@Bubbles: Me too, with not too much trouble sleeping (which: sorry, that feels like gloating!). It hurts to get up but I fall back asleep pretty much right away, at least usually. I'm really really not looking forward to getting up 5 times a night and NOT knowing that in 3 minutes I'll be back in my warm bed.

I agree wholeheartedly with you ladies on the "how are you feeling?" comments, and I still have just over 4 weeks to go! I think I literally had about 2.5-3 weeks during the 2nd trimester where I felt reasonably comfortable and okay. My first trimester symptoms lasted 4 months, I had nonstop colds & sinus issues for almost 7 straight weeks, and I have had crazy pelvic girdle pain since around 19-20 weeks! I would like my epidural right now please!!!!!!! I feel like a grump being honest when people ask how I'm doing. Now I just respond with "bigger and slower every day!"

@creativemomma15: Ahhhhh!!! Congratulations!!!!! and in 4 hours?! Super quick!!
@mrsrain: Thanks for creating the thread. With the first March baby here, it's super real up in here yo! lol
As for leakage, I do when I sneeze or cough really hard and my bladder isn't completely empty. That's why I've been wearing panty liners since like the 2nd trimester. Ugh! It's so embarrassing. I know it's all part of being preggo, but still!!
@Mrs D: DD is a total stretcher. As in she'll fully extend her legs to my right side to the point it's almost to my back and she'll jut her hip out ad my belly forms this weird shape where the front of my belly is straight/flat, but the two sides of my belly are pointy and hard. It's so weird. She's done it while we're at the doctor appointments and they're like whoa! That's gotta hurt! Before, not too bad since she was smaller. Now, yea... I'm totally pushing her back so I can breathe and not gasp in pain!
@Navy_Mommy: @Mrs D: We've been going to the hospital every day for the past week until 8/9pm because DH's uncle was in hospice care. When he passed at 3am on Sunday, we barely slept for a couple hours before we got the call so we were all frazzled come 10am! I wanted to nap so badly, but DS was wide awake and it wasn't his nap time yet. DS might have been watching a few movies more than usual lately just so I can sit on the couch and lay low even if I have to stay awake. I feel like a bad mommy, but man. I'm zapped!
@Mrs D: OMG! Yes, on the sleep insomnia!! The past two nights, I woke up at 1/1:30am and am wide awake for like 2-3 hours. WTF?! Thankfully, I'm WFH these days so it's a bit more relaxing, but still. Ugh!!
@Navy_Mommy: OMG!!! Poor Wesley!! The eye?! OUCH!!!!!
@mrsrain: Yes on the belly bracing!! I have to roll around on the bed until my legs dangle off of it, then use it as momentum to swing myself upright. *covers eyes while shaking my head* lol
And too much walking or squatting makes me crampy too!
@erinbaderin: LMAO at your desk sign. You totally should!!!! That's freaking awesome!!! I'm also not a fan of the "are you ready for the baby to be here???" questions.

I love that we are all at the same place emotionally and mentally, makes me feel slightly less crappy! The last few weeks/days are the hardest!
So my biggest stressor is still avoiding illness, DS is getting over a bad cold, when he just has a tummy bug. Why??? The ped told me it's best to have babies April, that's a good time. Umm thanks for that, so helpful when I'm 38 weeks along. We won't be seeing that guy again!
Had my OB appt today, 2 cm and 60% effaced, progress! He still needs to move down more though. And she wanted to talk about when I'd consider being induced. Because of DS1's shoulder dystocia, we need to be cautious of size just in case. Although hubby and I are inclined to think it was an isolated situation. Apparently it's super rare!
My guess is still for March 1st for my little guy, no reason whatsoever, haha. Anyone else have a guess for theirs?
nectarine / 2458 posts
@princessandthebee: I think I'll go somewhere between 40 and 41 (so between March 1 and March 8) OR he'll be born on my birthday, this Wednesday, just because I don't WANT to share my birthday, lol.
nectarine / 2115 posts
@princessandthebee: I think I still have a ways to go. Due date is in over 4 weeks. HOPING for early March, though!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@princessandthebee: I'm going to be induced on March 7th so no guess work for me! I'll never experience "going into labor naturally" since my OB said if I get pregnant again, s/he will follow in their big bro and sis's footsteps of measuring small, which means inducing again. lol
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@princessandthebee: I think I will likely end up chickening out on being induced...I cant quite ask for a membrane sweep this week (38w) bc my mom is not back from Florida and I dont want to encourage her to come before she returns...so I'll ask for one at 39w (3/2)...I think I'll go into labor on my own/with the sweep that weekend...
blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts
@Navy_Mommy: hope you get to keep your birthday to yourself! My hubby is March 4th, a few people in the family are guessing baby will arrive then. (due date is the 6th)
@mrsrain: Yes, hope you get early March!
@Alivoo01: Ahh, gotcha! Well March 7th sounds like a great birthday to me! And no more guesswork then!
@Mrs D: Makes sense. So did you have a membrane sweep last time? I didn't have one but I'm wondering if I should try that at my next appt (39 w).
blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts
This is a random thought but I just need to share it, I literally go back and forth almost daily on whether or not I will try to go without an epidural this time. I was SO sure that's what I wanted last time but had a really long labor that stalled so it wasn't in the cards.
Now I feel so conflicted and weird about it, there are perks to both sides. I think about it way too damn much. And I feel like it's a mental thing so if I'm this wishy-washy I might as well get the epi. I don't know. Just had to share!
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@princessandthebee: I had membrane sweeps starting at 38w last time. I was 3cm and 50 or 80% effaced (cant remember) so I was very favorable. I remember the one I had at 40w1d being particularly uncomfortable (more so than the previous 2) - I went into labor 12 hours later...I cant say for sure if it had something to do with it or not but it certainly didnt hurt my chances!
As for the epi...obviously its something most women have an opinion on and something I think each should decide on their own. I dont believe its right or wrong...just personal preference. I only have one experience so nothing to compare it to - but my Dr's practice is to turn off the epi at 9cm (so long as you have been progressing nicely). They turned my down at 9cm (noon) I remember my contractions being particularly rough from 12:30-1pm...the Dr told me she would not check me again and that I would tell her when I was "ready". At 1pm I told her I felt like it was about time...K was born at 1:20pm.
I felt everything (I think) while pushing. Ring of fire and all. But I truthfully think it made me a good pusher being able to feel. I also remember wanting to walk to recovery (probably an hour after delivering K)...thats how normal I felt. They of course did not let me ...but I do think I was up and using the restroom within 2-3 hours of having K.
The worst part? Having the Epi off at noon...I should have asked for a local before they stitched my tear (2nd degree)...it hurt more than delivering her...
blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts
@Mrs D: Right, a membrane sweep can't hurt things!
So, my sister said my epi was turned off during pushing as well, mostly because I started off pushing so ineffectively I think. I pushed for 2.5 hours but he was also a bit stuck. I think that is smart and I really want to push shorter this time so if less epi helps that, then great!
I remember HATING the contractions I'd have while nursing last time. Seriously, like how am I supposed to snuggle and feed my baby while my body is contracting back up? I know it is supposed to do that but I guess I figured most of the pain was past me. Umm not so much.
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@princessandthebee: I dont remember the "uterus going back to normal" contractions at all. But I definitely took all the pain meds they offered in the hospital...maybe thats why? I just remember how painful my nipples were those early days...
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@princessandthebee: what about going into it with an open mind, like you'll go as far as you can without it, but if it's really unbearable, you're okay with getting it?
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Mrs D: OMG! The nipple pain - yes!! Had to cover my boobs while I showered too because who knew shower heads sprayed needles at your boobies?! lol
I'm cringing just thinking about it this go round..... (>_<)
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@Alivoo01: That is the approach I took with K...everyone was asking me "so will you take the medication" and I was like "how the heck should I know - I've never done this before I have no idea what it will feel like..."
The minute I woke up having real contractions I remember telling DH 1) I am in labor and 2) get me all the drugs they offer!
cherry / 127 posts
@Mrs D: My epi couldn't keep up with my progression so I felt everything once I got to 10cm. I had my epi at 2am and they started pitocin at that time (no idea the dose but no one ever came to turn it up). At 4am I told them I was feeling pain and need to push. There was questioning over whether my epi needed to redone. They decided to check me and found I was already at 10cm. The next hour was agony waiting to push. Then I pushed for about an hour feeling just about everything and being able to tell my nurses when I was having contractions. Stitching up was also awful.
