Nothing crazy to report, but I got checked yesterday and am a 3 and "favorable" (what does that mean?). But baby's head needs to engage. So I got a membrane sweep and then bounced on a ball a ton. Also tried the pump and sex ( ). This morning I think I'm losing my plug, having bloody show. I'm having trouble not comparing this to last time because I didn't have bloody show until I was in true labor. But I don't think I am yet. But hopeful it's soon!!

@blackbird: YIKES! I am glad the cream is helping, that sounds horrible

@Mrs. Lovejoy: Yay! Fwiw my first 2 sweeps I lost TONS of plug and it was every color under the sun except for bright red...I had joked that everything came out of there but a baby! But after the 3rd sweep, the next morning I had true red blood streaked all in mucus and I think that was my true bloody show, and that was the day I went into labor (with a little help from castor oil and my pump- but it was more than likely imminent without those tricks). Keep us posted!!!

@BabyPenguinXO: @PrincessBaby: this cream is magical! Giant improvement already. Struggling to get him to latch all the time, but haven't had to pump since the MOTN so he's getting better!
@Mrs. Lovejoy: that's good!!! Means your cervix is squishy! I was favorable for an induction with E and it went quickly
clementine / 972 posts
@blackbird: oh good! Hope to not last until induction day, but regardless it's 9 days away!
@PrincessBaby: this was pretty red but I wouldn't say bright red. It's been coming out throughout the day. Don't know if it's regenerating or just keeps coming!

@Mrs. Lovejoy: I am crossing my fingers for you that you join this parade of babies soon!
Today was technically my first day ALL DAY by myself with both LOs and no help at all from start to finish bc I've been sending LO1 to daycare and before that, I had family in.
Whew! Nonstop! Having wine!
apricot / 422 posts
@PrincessBaby: whew, I am a little late, but I hope you were able to enjoy that glass of wine last night!!
I went into the OB-ED last night because I was 80% sure I was filling pads with urine but had a nagging thought it might be an amniotic leak. Turns out, yes, I am just peeing myself at an alarming rate. Cervical check showed baby was at 0 station, so that at least provided me with a rationalization for why it had gotten so bad in the last two days. Before I left I asked for a membrane sweep. Tons of cramps, some painful contractions and a lot of bright red mucus this morning! I am hopeful!!
clementine / 972 posts
@MsHangry: ooh that is all promising! And ha I can totally relate to not knowing which type of "fluid" is coming out.
clementine / 972 posts
ugh, so I'm feeling excited/anxious, but also disappointed. Hit my due date today and had an NST and check at the doc. The doc said "3.5 almost 4cm, head is engaged and a bulgy bag of waters". She said it really positively, but I can't believe nothing has happened yet! I was in active labor (after 16 hours of labor) and at a 4 when I was admitted with my first. I don't think I ever had a "bulgy bag" before I was in active labor. I'm back at work and a bit nervous my water is going to break. . I just want this baby here soon!

@Mrs. Lovejoy: Sounds like you're getting close! Hang in there. I'm impressed you are at work. I haven't missed being at work for these last 6 days one bit!

I'm hanging in there just waiting for baby, myself... Nothing new to report, yet. NST & fluid check yesterday--same amount of too much, so holding steady 1wk from my due date. Another cervical check tomorrow & another NST Thu. I've been feeling more & more ok if things start going, but won't start to feel anxious to get the show on the road until this weekend. My mom will be here w/ us for 1 wk, so would be great to have her here for the big event!

@GoGoSnoGirl: I hope it works out just like you hope
@Mrs. Lovejoy: I'm sorry, come on little one!
AFM, little miss is a dream. Her brother never slept and she seems to be on a eat sleep poop schedule. She's already back to gaining weight so we don't have to go to the ped until 2 months. I'm still having borderline high bp's if they'd go down a few points id be released as normal, if they'd go up a few points they'd put me on meds as it is I just get to keep going back to the dr. they keep kidding that I just need Pitocin to make them go down because they were low during labor but I also knew if they got high id have to get an epidural or mag
so I just chilled on my side.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@jetsa: heh, one of the perks to the epidural is that it dropped my BP big time! Not sure why, but the nurse said it usually does
clementine / 972 posts
@jetsa: thank you! So, I can't recall reading this (but I probably did) - you got pitocin, but no epi?! Didn't you do that with your first too? How did it go?
clementine / 972 posts
@blackbird: I've heard that as well too! When I asked why I would need the bag of fluids (if I had an epi) it's apparently to keep the BP from dropping too low.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@Mrs. Lovejoy: yes both births were Pitocin without epidurals. The only difference is my first I started with cerevidil and the second didn't.
@blackbird: my BP did the same thing without one. It was 150/100's start Pitocin BP stays steady at 120/70's. I laid on my side through all of labor until I began pushing though.

It's been a long time since I posted but wanted to see how everyone is doing. It looks like I am not the only one that's anxiously awaiting. At both my 37 and 38 week appointments I was 2.5cm, almost 100% effaced and baby was at -2 position. I believe I also lost my mucous plug, around 37.5 weeks. Other than that, nothing! I have had some pressure and burning in the lower belly and a little bit of tightness but I really don't consider them contractions. I sure hope something happens soon because I'd love to have this baby by this weekend (even though I am due 5/27). I feel great though, so maybe my baby girl is a little too happy in the belly!
I have noticed her movements are not the same pattern as before and although I can feel her, she is moving less frequently. I try not to scare myself over it. The doctors have me doing an NST each week and she's always reactive, but better some days than others (just like at home). If I do the kick counts once a day, I get 10 in an hour but it's just strange to have so many days with less frequent movement. I know she's not completely out of room, because she's still able to switch from the middle of my belly to pushing her butt to the side.
No wonder they tell you to find something to focus on for the last 2 weeks...playing the waiting game is not fun!

@jetsa: I'm jealous. This little girl has given us two tough nights of very little sleep I didn't get to fall asleep for the first time last night til 3am. But she's a dream during the day, which so far is much better than her brother who screamed all day. Nursing seems to be going well - she was already above birth weight at the doc yesterday - but oh man my nipples are a wreck.
We had an ultrasound today to follow up on the possible kidney issue spotted on my ultrasound a few weeks ago. Unfortunately the results weren't great. She has moderate to severe hydronephrosis, which means one of her kidneys isn't draining urine and she's at a very high risk for UTIs. We have an appointment with a urologist tomorrow, but the pediatrician thinks he will probably put her on preventive antibiotics and keep an eye on it. I'm trying not to worry until we see the doctor tomorrow.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@SeptMomma12: sleep baby sleep. Our little boy was a screamer as well. That sucks with your nipples I had it last time but other than a small spot on the right I've avoided it so far. I'll think good thoughts for your little miss tomorrow I hope the specialist can help
apricot / 422 posts
@FSUAliss: I noticed a difference in the movement in my last week or so. He just stayed in his one little spot and would sometimes wiggle or stretch I guess. You are so close! Keep cooking that little bean

@MsHangry: feeling like this is me at the moment. he's wedged with her rearend up in the right corner and his feet and hands wriggle and kick to the left.
babe has been low since week 34/35. feels like he engages and disengages but I can't be certain. my OB always says my cervix is soft but not dilated and here I am at week 39. hoping for some changes over the weekend or next week or it looks like I'll be joining the June mamas.
pear / 1849 posts
Hey May mamas, this board has been very quiet! How's everyone doing? We are good here. Exhausted but good. It's a whole new world when you're up multiple times during the night with a newborn and the toddler still wakes up at 6:15am!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@Mrs. Lovejoy: oh I didn't know that! @jetsa: I was in worse pain on my side! They kept rolling me over to check my BP. @SeptMomma12: how'd the appt with the specialist go?
We're still fighting nursing since we got his TT clipped. If it's not better by Tuesday, I'll ask to see an OT for suck therapy. I've also had a small bug today-threw up, plus bathroom issues, plus generally feeling yuck. Hoping it's done by tomorrow morning since we are doing photos. I'm going to have to get up early to shower and whatnot. I'm dehydrated and wondering what all this pumping plus this bout of illness will do to my supply
Has anybody has TERRIBLE pain about 1.5 weeks PP? It feels like trapped gas and has me doubled over and crying and writhing in pain. My OB says its normal. It's sharp and doesn't relent. It's so miserable, I take a painkiller and then I just feel out of it

Hi ladies! Just figured we are in the lull in between, with those of you with newborns tending to them & those of us waiting, trying to keep busy.
At my cervical check Wed I hadn't progressed much more (2.5cm, still ~50% effaced). Started taking EPO 3x day, drinking more red raspberry leaf tea, & sex 2x so far this wk--which is already more than usual. ;-). We are going out for our anniversary tonight, so I figure maybe we'll end up with a dramatic breaking of my water in the middle of the restaurant to kick things off.
Hope all those new May babes are doing well!

@GoGoSnoGirl: have fun at dinner tonight!
I went out and bought more nursing bras, tanks and some new postpartum tops. I knew my boobs were going to get big, but HOLY MOLY.
Completely exhausted by the whole ordeal.

@blackbird: no advice here, around then is when i started feeling like myself again so it's strange doc would say its normal. diet change?
pear / 1849 posts
@blackbird: Unfortunately it didn't go so great. She has a "duplex kidney" on the right side. He basically described it like her kidney being a double decker bus and the upstairs has its own ureter to the bladder. So she's got three ureters. Apparently not that uncommon but the issue is that her extra "upper deck" isn't functioning right - it's swollen and not draining. Which puts her at very high risk for infection. So the next step is to find out why it's not draining, which will hopefully happen with a catheter test on June 2. But in the meantime she has to be on a low-level antibiotic to prevent infection. Try getting a 1 week old to swallow an antibiotic
I've also had a lot of gas pain. Supposedly normal, especially after a c-section, but I never had it with my son. I was shaking in bed the other night the pain was so bad on my right side. I've been taking Gas-X before bed the last few nights and it seems to be helping a bit. Hope you are feeling better!
@GoGoSnoGirl: That would make for a good labor story for sure!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@andthewildones: she said she experienced the same thing :-/@SeptMomma12: I'm kinda surprised it's been so persistent will a vaginal delivery. Plus I'm going to the bathroom regularly. Now I wonder if my body knew it had this bug before it officially hit. I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's kidney I hope they can figure out what's going on soon and fix it without much trouble.

@SeptMomma12: I was given some simethicone gas chewables at discharge for gas. They worked really well for me I've been having gas pains until a bout a week ago and we are 4wpp

@BabyPenguinXO: It's much better in the last day or so, thankfully! I can't believe you are 4 weeks pp now! How's A doing?

How is everyone holding up? My little guy seems to alternate between having a good night and having a bad night. At least his mornings have been good, which gives me a chance to rest and shower and prepare to move this weekend (ugh...)
So sorry for everyone that has been sick this last week! I hope you are feeling better.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@MsHangry: yeah our nights are not consistent either, some times she'll go 5 hours other times 2 hours. I'm headed into the dr office, my fever is back so they want to do an ultrasound to make sure everything is normal.
apricot / 422 posts
@jetsa: yikes! Hope everything is okay and you can start feeling better soon!!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@MsHangry: Crazy, I thought I'd just overdone it and the ultrasound was clear; so the diagnosis is a uterine infection, they prescribed 3 antibiotics said it would be the same thing they'd give in IV fluids if I'd gone to the hospital but I don't have the "look" of needing it in that form. Hopefully it fixes the issues.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@jetsa: ugh that's so frustrating! I hope the antibiotics work well!
pear / 1849 posts
@jetsa: Ugh I hope the antibiotics help. How tough to keep up with a newborn and toddler when you're so sick. Do you have help?
@MsHangry: Yeah we've had two good nights in a row, which pretty much means we are screwed tonight!
I forgot how stressful breastfeeding is. I constantly worry I'm killing her with my oversupply, then I worry she's not eating enough because she's such a peanut, then I worry about gas, etc. Having a colicky first baby has left me with newborn PTSD!
Are any of your babies spitting up? C has some little spit ups here and there and then usually one huge one each day. I mentioned that to a few friends and they said they don't think their babies were spitting up this early.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@SeptMomma12: my moms coming in this week and my DH is amazing, he forces me back to the couch even when j don't like it. I have a very hard time being still. Dia spits up several times a day, Jack never did but I just assumed since she doesn't seem unhappy it's fine.
@blackbird: thanks me too and quick
Just ugh...

@SeptMomma12: we are good! Adelaide was one month yesterday! Shes been only waking up 1-2x a night for the most part. As for spitting up she is not much of a spitter! But some may mamas from some other groups have some babes that spit up quite a bit. My son never did either. Like... Not even daily.
