Am I the only one trying out some at-home, "natural" induction techniques? I've been taking Evening Primrose Oil, trying a little nipple stimulation, reflexology and lots of walking up and down my stairs. I am so excited to meet her.. I'm having trouble being patient!!!

@CatchAFallingStar: I have a few things to get through this week but I'm starting to try at home on Thursday I think! I don't really expect it to work but something to pass the time, right? Last time I was mentally prepared to go late and she came a little early ... Hopefully I don't get the opposite this time. Definitely more antsy since the logistics for #2 are trickier

@CatchAFallingStar: I'll be starting a few of those tomorrow! I'm 39 weeks on Tuesday and anxious to get this show on the road, but I need my mom here for LO#1, and she gets in tomorrow afternoon. Breaking out the breast pump tomorrow night, and I'll start on all the walks and nesting tasks I've been avoiding this week too.

@keepcalmcarrie: I'm 39 weeks Tuesday as well!! I have been afraid to use the breast pump.. not sure why. But, I might get it out tomorrow.

@keepcalmcarrie: BTW... my name is also Kari! Same name, different spelling.

@CatchAFallingStar: @bhbee: @keepcalmcarrie: I've been trying some over here. I unintentionally increased the squats and bending because LO1 has been skipping her naps so I don't get even a short break during the day. I also tried sex but it was uncomfortable and I don't think I'm up for trying that again. I used the breast pump and have tried nipple stimulation. Sometimes the contractions last for a few hours at 15-20 minute intervals but they always taper off and then come back sporadically. I was induced over a week late last time so I'm trying to avoid it this time.

Just saw the full moon out, who's having a baby??
(Wish it were me but no sign of it here)

@bhbee: Not me! I wish!! But the full moon is having its effect on our house. DH and I locked ourselves out today and then after we paid the locksmith $130, the only key to our garage/laundry room broke off in the door. Wha??

@CatchAFallingStar: @bhbee: @keepcalmcarrie: @MapleMoose: joining the club in trying what I can but without much faith that it will actually do anything. I will say that I think evening primrose oil might have helped me efface quite a bit, or it was at least very coincidental. Before I started I was "high and tight" and the next week I was soft and 60% effaced. Maybe coincidental, but I'm sticking g with it just in case. I got my pump out the other day but I only used it for a few minutes. I hate that thing. DH has also been pushing the good, old fashioned "same thing that got you into the situation, gets you out."

@bhbee: I volunteer for it to be me, but I have nothing promising happening that would make that seem like an actual possibility.

Hey guys, sorry for not posting for so long but it's been a hectic time adjusting to my new life with LO. We came home from the hospital 2 days ago and although I'm already very tired and sleep deprived, I am absolutely in love with my little girl.
I posted my birth story here:

Good luck to the rest of the January mommys!

@CatchAFallingStar: Haha. Good luck! I'm a later in month person so I'm not really thinking about this. With my first I tried walking a lot and eating spicy food but that didn't help. I had no idea about the breast pump thing till recently!

Possibly TMI but just lost my mucus plug! With my daughter it happened the night my water broke, but hopefully this at least means Tuesdays induction won't be so bad!

@HappyBaker: Whoa! Nice! Maybe you are gearing up for an induction-less labor! The full moon is doing its work on you.
Now that my labs are all fine (still itchy, though) I can let go of thoughts that I would be having this kid earlier. Which is a big old sigh of relief!

@HappyBaker: That sounds very promising! I'll now begin stalking this thread for the next 24 hours to see if you get to skip your induction all together! Good luck!

@Mrs. Blue: do you take evening primrose oil orally or use it vaginally?
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@Mrs. Confetti: I started taking one orally every night the first week because I was only 36 weeks. At 37 weeks, I started doing one pill (1000 mg) orally and one vaginally. I think it's supposed to be a lot more effective done vaginally or a combo or vaginally & orally. Like I said, not sure if I just changed a lot that week or if it was the EPO. I haven't really been taking it this week because I want to see if I continue to make good progress or if it was more likely the EPO.

My water broke this morning at 5! Currently checked in but only at 2cms. So excited this is really happening!

@HappyBaker: Yay!!! So exciting - good luck mama, can't wait to hear

@HappyBaker: hooray!! Hope everything goes smoothly for you, and can't wait to see the baby!!

@HappyBaker: yay good luck!!!! Excited for you!
@Mrs. Blue: I took EPO vaginally with DD and I obviously have no proof of that did it, but I had a freakishly fast labor - I totally think it helps!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@pmrlady: Hope you guys are adjusting well!
@Espion: Good news that your labs are fine!
I was gung ho about getting this baby out but now DD has a horrific cold, so I am paranoid about going into labor when she's so sick I'll be so upset if she can't visit in the hospital - not to mention bringing a newborn home to a sicky house!

@HappyBaker: Yay! So happy things started naturally and you were able to avoid the induction.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@sorrycharlie: this is why we're REALLY happy that baby girl is still staying put. Everyone has been so sick, we're not sure - it might have even been the flu that wiped DH out. So fingers crossed that you and your DH don't get sick too!

@HappyBaker: wow! You get to skip the induction! Good luck mama!
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@sorrycharlie: hopefully I'll have good results like that, too. Although, it would be okay with me if it took a little but longer than yours did!

@HappyBaker: Congratulations!!! Who needs an induction? Not Mr. Logan!!
