@kml636: not too much- usually only once to nurse, every once and awhile twice. its just tiring when i have to wake at 5:30 to get ready for work. i am soo looking forward to the day when she sleeps straight through the night! hopefully by the time she is 2

@NovBaby1112: I was stressing about it, sometimes I would try to wait 10 mins before feeding her when she woke (usually around 2 or 3 am). Then we came home from vacation and she was really tired and she just started sleeping through!!! Hope your LO does the same soon

A is also down to two naps now. He sleeps 630/7-530/6 nurses... and then goes back down til 730/8 and wakes for the day.
he's been napping around 11 and 3

N is also down to two naps. He sleeps 8:30-8:30. with a 6am feeding. He gets 4 bottles and 3 solids a day. He naps around 12 and 4, I can't wait for him to drop that early morning feed!

man you other nov mamas have some good sleepers. M's sleep is much better since we sleep trained but no where near what your LO's are!
@kml636: we are going on vacation in a week and i am terrfied her sleep is going to regress, but maybe it will turn out how yours did! one can dream , lol

@NovBaby1112: Not all of us have champion sleepers But little miss has finally stopped the whole scream-bloody-murder for an hour + at each night waking that started a couple weeks ago. Not fun. But she is still nursed/rocked to sleep at night and wakes 2-3 times.
Always 2 naps a day at daycare but the timing and length vary depending on the day. I am just happy if she gets at least 1.5 hrs total nap time on weekdays.

@NovBaby1112: We are at my families vacation home right now, and her sleep here has been total crap. SIGH. Hoping it returns to normal when we get home. Good luck to you!

@kml636: @novbaby1112: We were up north at my family's lakehouse last week and our sleep went to hell. She was up EVERY hour (I wish I was exaggerating). We were sharing a cabin with my sister, her husband, and my 2yo niece so of course I popped out of bed the first peep I heard from her so we didn't wake up the whole house. She was never a good sleeper to begin with and this was just the icing on the cake. Not sure if she is teething too, but I've given up trying to figure it out. Last night was the first tolerable night in a few weeks...fingers crossed it continues. Good luck to you both!

@SLR: Yikes I hope the tolerable continues too!
@NovBaby1112: you know I'm right there with ya
pomegranate / 3225 posts
@SLR: I know. Not only do my parents object if we let her fuss in the crib for a few minutes, but of course I'm not going to let her cry and wake everyone. It's so tricky. Just hoping it gets better at home!

@lindseykaye: oh man, those screaming fits in the middle of the night are horrible i always feel so bad for LO and cant figure out what is wrong! glad she stopped doing that for you. i know awhile back you were considering sleep training after your move, are you still thinking about it?
@kml636: @SLR: oh no!!! that doesn't sound like fun! i am reallly worried about how her sleep will be on vacation too. BUT my mom is making the room just like her room at home so i am hoping that helps (blackout shades, white noise, crib and comfy mattress). are your LO's in pack n plays? when we traveled a few weeks ago she slept horribly in that thing
grapefruit / 4066 posts
are any of your LO's on a 6:30am ish- 8:00pm ish schedule with 2 naps? care to share your nap schedules?

@NovBaby1112: DD naps at daycare. I don't like her schedule, but I think it's the best they can do/I can hope for. She wakes around 6:30-7am, and then they put her down around 10/10:30. She only sleeps for maybe 1/2 hour and they let her get up. I think she is overtired. She then does the "mandatory nap time" and sleeps 12:30-2:30ish. They used to give her a little 20 min catnap around 4:30-5, but she has fought that. Now, she falls asleep in the stroller on our walk home from daycare. I try to keep her up and have started moving her bedtime up until around 7:30.
ETA: I'm not a Nov mama but I crash here a bit because DD was born 10/28 so I am an almost Nov mama!

@NovBaby1112: Us!
6:30: I wake her (she will sleep until 830/9 on the weekends), nurse, get ready to leave for work/daycare
8:30: Baby has breakfast at daycare (usually cereal/green puree)
10:00: Bottle (3oz breast milk, 3 oz formula)
11-12:30: Nap
12:30: Bottle (3 oz breast milk, 3 oz formula)
3-4:30: Nap
4: Bottle (3 oz breast milk, 3 oz formula)
6: Pickup from daycare
7: Bottle (4 oz of either breast milk or formula or combo, depending on what I have pumped and available in the fridge) plus dinner (Cereal or puree or banana, etc.)
8: Bottle (4 oz formula) right before bed
STTN 99% of the time.
Sometimes she will take an extra short nap in the evening either at daycare or at home. And if we are late getting her from daycare, they will give her another bottle there (6oz formula) and if that is the case, we skip the bottle at dinner time and just do one before she goes to bed.

@NovBaby1112: we're in between 2 and 3 naps but if its a 2 nap day she usually wakes around 630-7am, naps 9am and 1pm, goes down around 730-8pm. those 2 naps r usually at least 2 hours, but on a 2 nap day one of them ends up being 2.5-3 hrs which eliminates the last nap.

@Tidybee: thanks for sharing!! at least she has that long afternoon nap! its hard when the naps are out of our control
@highwire: thanks! wow, she is able to go from 6:30 to 11?? I am trying to figure out how to stretch the morning awake time and the awake time after first nap so we don't have a huge gap between last nap and bedtime, and so we can keep our 8pm bedtime!
@kodybear: wow, you have an awesome napper!! thanks for sharing your schedule, that helps!

@NovBaby1112: It might be more like 1030? And sometimes I don't wake her up until like 7.

@NovBaby1112: hah well those are on non-daycare days (i work 2 days from home). daycare days... who knows what the naps are like. usually average 45min each 3 times a day. so i also think she's catching up on sleep on non daycare days.
clementine / 824 posts
@NovBaby1112: Yep, she was in a pack-n-play while we were up there. She never sleeps well in that thing at night, but oddly enough, she napped really well in it.
And I might have to eat my words from yesterday...she STTN last night!!!!! From 8pm to 6am! She has only done that once before. So weird - we go from 6 wakeups on Monday night to STTN on Wednesday. I'm not going to keep my hopes up for tonight though.

We're still on a 3 nap schedule. Her naps are so bad at daycare (~25 minutes), she usually falls asleep on the way or right after getting home. I don't see that changing until she is able to nap better there during the day.

Hi all! Just joined and love that there is a Nov2012 board. We are Turkey Day baby hence my name/avatar. LO is going down for the night around 8:30pm wakes around 5am for a few sips of the bottle (finished nursing last week). Then we sleep till 7:00 or 8:00am. We get ready for work/daycare. They feed him a solid around 9:00am he naps around 10:30/11:00. Takes a bottle when he wakes, does another solid around noon. Some days he might take a very short nap around 1pm but most of the time he will take a really long nap around 4pm. I usually will wake him around 6:30 to eat dinner which is a solid and a little bit of a bottle.
I feel bad waking him but afraid if I don't he might not sleep through the night.

@turkeylurkey: welcome!@kodybear: I cannot imagine having that much nap time I'm so jealous!!
Our rough schedule is
630 wake
9-10:15 nap
1-2:15 nap
6:30 asleep
He still throws me for a loop at least once a week - today he fought his second nap and bumped it back to 2:30-3:50 and went down for the night at 7.

Hey thanks all for the welcome! I can't believe my little Turkey will be 8 months this week! Ugg where does the time go!
@KML636 We went in bright and early I thought for sure he would come early but nope he waited all day and part of the night! Did you buy the Thankful for Mommy Thanksgiving outfit from Carter's? We did but of course didn't put it on him until 4 days later!

1030/11 - nap 1

C has been taking MARATHON naps on the weekends. On Sunday, she took a nap from 11-330 (!!!) and then another from 6-8 and went down for the night at 845.
During the week she only naps for about 2 hours total at daycare and I always wake her for the day, she never is awake as early as we need to get ready and go (7 AM). I guess she is making up for it on the weekends.

@highwire: Um, Can I borrow C to teach Em a few things about sleeping?!
Em napped a whopping 20 mins at daycare yesterday. But she is getting soooo much better at night.

@kml636: @SLR: Trade off for all of the breastfeeding issues we've had? Ha. It is really horrible for my milk supply, that's for sure.

@SLR: That's crazy. L is always exhausted after daycare. Hope your nights get better!

Question for all... E was taking a nap from 4:30 to 6:30 but the last few days has decided to stay awake and then go down a little 6:00 pm. What would you do??? Let him sleep until he wakes or wake him and do our normal bed-time routine? He use to go down for bed around 8:30 and sleep till 1:00 am for a feeding and back down until 7:30. I'm afraid if I let him sleep from 6:00pm that he will wake up and not sleep to 7:30am but instead to 5:30am.
clementine / 824 posts
@turkeylurkey: E usually takes a late nap and it rarely seems to affect her night time sleep or wake up time the next day. I'm not sure if that's the norm though.
pomegranate / 3225 posts
@turkeylurkey: ugh, it's so hard to know. With L I just put her to bed earlier, but every kid is different!

I seriously need help... For the past four nights, our formerly good sleeper (7 pm - 5:30 am) has been waking at 12 midnight screaming as though she is being skinned alive. It's just so not like her we thought it had to have been teeth, ear infection, cold, night terrors, wonder week... so we put her in bed with us. And I've fed her out of desperation. But I definitely DON'T want to make those things a habit.
I've done some CIO and sleep training with her since she was tiny, but this is different. When she gets so hysterical I just think that can't be good for her.
Just hoping things get better, last night we tried laying with her next to the crib and she screamed for a straight hour before we put her in bed with us and I fed her. HELP.
kiwi / 541 posts
@kml636: E did that same thing a few weeks ago. I think it was a combo of teething, still being hungry, cold/allergies. He went back to normal sleep pattern the following week. I also noticed he grew an inch during that time frame. So could have been that too.
pear / 1616 posts
@kml636: eek! hmm if she was STTN before I would think it may be teething... could you try giving her some tylenol and see if she is better after? i was gonna say my LO did this out of the blue a couple nights ago and i had no idea what to do! luckily i think she was just dreaming as she went back to sleep after 10 min. 1 hour is a long time tho so it sounds like she might be in some pain or sick or something! if it were me i'd probably try some type of pain relief to eliminate that as the problem.
