We are/were not really planning to do any solids for at least another month or so (he's 4.5 months now). However, on saturday I was playing with him on the floor and eating some apple slices (sour, crisp granny smith). He really wanted some and was grabbing for it. I handed him the biggest slice and let him gum it and suck on it. It was really cold and probably felt good on his gums. He doesn't have any teeth yet, so at most a sucked a little bit of the juice out of it. He did put it directly in his mouth.

@ChelseaRose: omg girl good luck! It does get easier!

So miss Lily had one of her worst nights yet, waking every 2 hrs. DH wants to do CIO with her. I'm just not sure what to do.

@kml636: we had two really rough nights but they were due in part to us both being sick, but also a growth spurt. He went back to normal the past two nights and this morning its like he gained a pound and inch overnight- I could barely zip up his sleeper?! Maybe ask DH to give it a few days if you're uncomfortable with CIO and see if a tooth pops, sickness starts, etc.? Unless you think CIO is the right fit! It just sounded from your post like you didn't want to.

On my first pump break. Hate setting it all up and putting everything away. In a boss's office because we don't have a designated room. Got here about one minute before another coworker who is pumping too.

how often do you guys pump?

work has been so crazy lately that i'm barely squeezing in 2 sessions... and end up with 12 oz.

a's eating about 5-6x 5oz each. i nurse in the am and at bedtime, pump the other boob in the am, pump 12-15 oz at work.

he's been sleeping okay since our short regression. he started squealing/loud talking for the first time a couple nights ago and he was up at 4am. but back to normal last night. def a believer that new milestones = sleep disruption!

doing anything fun this wknd? i think we're going to take DS to get his pic taken with the easter bunny. so looking forward to a wknd wtih my boys after this hell of a week at work. (ended up working 'til 1130pm last remotely).

@mrsjyw: I pump 3x at work (9:30, 12:30, and 3:30), and then pump at 9 PM after C has already gone to bed, so 4 total pump sessions each day (plus 2-3 nursing session).

The pump schedule at work is fine, but I'd love to not have to use half my lunch break for a pump session. It forces me to have to stay in my office instead of being able to leave for a break.

We are having a party for our friends to come over and meet the baby this weekend. We are expecting about 15 people. I tried to invite our close friends plus some acquaintances that have babies so we can get closer to people we know who have young babies now. We moved around some furniture last weekend in preparation for the party, and a maid is coming on Friday! My in-laws will also be in. Should be a great weekend!

In other news, C is back to STTN again for the most part! So glad. Last night she was down 830-530. I'll take it!

@mrsjyw: yesterday was my first day at work and I pumped 6, 9, 12, 3. I nurse him at 5:30 and 7:30. He got bottles at 6:30, 10, and 1:30, plus a top off of a few ounces before bed. I decided to pump rather than nurse in the morning because I would still have to pump the other side even after nursing. I just don't have enough time. I wake up at 6 and leave around 7. My husband gives him the bottle because he doesn't have to leave until almost 8.

Welp ladies, I forgot my valves for my pump today. Epic fail. I tried to hand express, NOT fun and I only got an ounce. Guess ill try just washing parts at work and leaving them there.

Ahh, so much to catch up on!

@highwire: I hear you on the tension with the hubby. I had a bit of a meltdown last weekend about it because I am so overwhelmed. I feel like I pull 90% of the weight when it comes to cooking, errands, and house stuff. Of course, DH doesn’t see it this way and thinks it’s all in my head. I guess it comes down to me thinking that I should have to ASK him to do a couple things around the house…he should just know to do it! I’m going from the minute I get up to the time I go to bed, with *maybe* 30 minutes to myself the whole day. It’s depressing, my “me” time is going to the grocery store on the weekend. I desperately need to go clothes shopping, but just can’t get the time to do it.

@mrsjyw: I’m pumping 2-3 times at work depending on what meetings I have scheduled for the day. Going 2x, I’ve pumped anywhere from 11-14oz. With 3x, I’ve pumped 14-18oz. It really seems to disrupt the day, but I’m so glad that I’ve been able to keep up with Em’s needs so far.

I was really hoping that the 4m sleep regression would bypass our house, but we weren’t so lucky. Overnight, Em went from one wakeup to several. I think she woke up 5x last Sunday. It’s gradually gotten better and we’re down to 2 wakeups a night (one paci, one feeding), but I’m really hoping she gets back to one soon (although none would be better!). The strange thing is though, she is totally different when she wakes now. Before, she would barely make a noise when waking…it was more of a grunt/whimper. But now, she wakes up in a full-fledged cry. Hmmm?

We are still swaddling at night and for most naps but may test the waters without one tonight. She’s not sleeping well anyways, so it might not hurt, right?! Since she is still sooooo close to rolling, I know that I don’t have much longer where daycare will swaddle. So they are trying to do 1 nap a day without it. I was shocked to see that she slept 1.5 hours unswaddled there yesterday! She rarely naps past 35 minutes as it is!!

I haven’t decided what we will do about solids. Several of my mommy friends with kiddos the around same age have already started cereal and purees or are going to start right around now. I don’t know that I’m in a big rush though. The only thing that may tempt me is if the doc thinks it may help her spitting up or would help her STTN.

One odd thing…baby girl is STILL not pooping! I think she has gone 5x in the past month. I know it’s normal to have a period without, but every 5-6 days for this long just seems weird! While I love not dealing with the dirty diapers, I hope everything is okay. I’m definitely going to ask about this at her 4M appointment tomorrow.

Also, not looking forward to tomorrow’s shots…the last round of these @ 2 months made for a long afternoon/evening and one crabby girl.

I see this thread hasn't been active for awhile. Just curious how everyone is doing Post-partum?
I finally feel like myself again. I was having a hard time finding clothes to wear and ended up going to a personal stylist to help me with my new figure. It was the pick-me up I needed. I haven't gone back to working out. It seems like there isn't enough time in the day. I am also finally feeling healthy again. I went through a rash of sinus infections, mastiss, a skin rash, and a few other. I thought I'd never get well!

  20. SLR

    clementine / 824 posts

@turkeylurkey: I've seriously thought about a personal shopper too! I weigh less than pre-pregnancy, but NEED to tone up. Most of my clothes are a little big for me now and it's such a pain to find things that are nursing/pumping friendly or aren't too clingy around the tummy. I feel so frumpy in my current wardrobe. Where did you go to do that? I've always wondered about the personal shoppers at the department stores. I never knew if they were good with dressing different body types/age ranges/style preferences, or if they were just regular employees with no real fashion sense. And I'm a little hesitant to just order clothes online. I've always been the type that needs to try on in person. I'm ready to blow some serious cash on clothes...I just don't know where to start, nor do I have the time to scour through the racks in the stores.

Keeping my fingers crossed that E's sleep stays where it is...I'd love to get back to waking up early (4am, yikes!) before work to do a quick workout DVD or something. With her waking up so much before, I just didn't have the energy.

We finally hired a cleaning lady two come every other week. And geez, do I wish we did that sooner!! It's soooo nice to not have to worry about deep cleaning. I'm starting to finally feel like I can relax again (a little).

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

Hope ill be joining you ladies eventually. I still feel pretty terrible, no where near a comfortable weight. But now that I'm dropping pumping sessions there's finally a break in the clouds where I can squeeze in a tiny bit of exercise.

I've been buying interim clothes at Old Navy. Affordable, but nice enough.

@SLR: A girl in my area started her own biz of shopping for you and a boutique. It's been nice to have her help. I know what you mean about frumpy in your maternity clothes. I didn't spend a lot of money but bought a few outfits so that I can feel good on date nights with the hubs and when I meet with customers at work. The cleaning lady rocks
@highwire: I think you'll notice feeling better after cutting back on feedings. I know that I did. Good luck!

    Hi Guys,

I miss you all! I'm trying to be more present on the boards, but other things usually take up the free time.

Can we do a milestone check in? I'm trying super hard not to stress about C's development, but man, it's so hard!

He's currently army crawling and can stay forever in a seated position, but he doesn't regular crawl, pull-up, or get into a seated position on his own. He's not sleeping through the night, doesn't have any teeth, and isn't waving. Ahhhh!! The worry!

Am I the only one still waiting for these milestones?

  24. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

@turkeylurkey: It finally opened up my world a little bit and I went to the gym this weekend and took a workout class! I am SO sore LOL

@Mrs. Tricycle: Try not to stress mama. This is a long break between doctor visits (we had one at 6 months and not another until 9 months, and I'm guessing it is the same for yall) so without the reassurance of the doctor it is easy to get worried. You could always check in with them and see what they say about it?

  25. Mrs. Tricycle

    blogger / pear / 1964 posts

@highwire: We were there 3 days ago for an 8 month check -- doctor has no concerns about milestones, but C hasn't gained any weight in the last 2 months, so we're headed to a pediatric gastroenterologist. When worry starts in one area it just tends to spill over into everything . . . I'll just stop Googling for now.

  26. mrsjyw

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts

@Mrs. Tricycle: hey mama! i don't think there's any need for concern! diff babies are on diff timelines esp at this age!! tho, i am there with you -- i do check in here to reassess my ocd worry!

just to check in: ds is not crawling (tho i think he may be skipping this), he scoots/army crawls, pulls up to stand from sitting (but can't sit himself up from lying down), doesn't wave bye, he (thankfully) has been STTN since 12 weeks, and has SIX teeth (which my boobs hate).

  27. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

@Mrs. Tricycle: Ah okay, well glad he had a check up and doctor wasn't concerned about the milestones. I hope the gastro can help you guys out. He does seem to have a sensitive little tummy.

How have your AFs been (if you're getting them)?

PP, I bled for 8 solid weeks. Then I had nothing at all after that. My first PP period was at 6 months and it was so light I couldn't wear a tampon. Now I'm having my second one (2 months later?!) and I bled all over our sheets last night it is so heavy.

  29. Mrs. Tricycle

    blogger / pear / 1964 posts

@highwire: AF hasn't appeared yet. I'm still nursing once or twice overnight, and 5 or 6 times during the day, so maybe that's why?

  30. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

@Mrs. Tricycle: That could be what's happening as I'm dropping down in session. I'm pumping 4x a day now (Exclusively )

  31. MamaMoose

    GOLD / squash / 13464 posts

@Mrs. Tricycle: I wouldn't be concerned at all at this point. M can crawl but we get comments all the time about how she is crawling/pulling up/cruising SO early. My mom said I didn't crawl until 10 months. And we have a good friend whose baby didn't crawl until a year. I definitely wouldn't worry. Waving is very unpredictable for us, and I'm still unsure if she really waves, or just flaps her arms in excitement. And clapping is not happening any time soon I can tell you that right now.

Good luck at the GI doc. We saw a GI specialist a couple weeks ago and I had myself all worked up that they were going to do all sorts of invasive testing and give us scary news. Turns out, doc looked M over, told me she is clearly happy and thriving, and she'll outgrow her issues. So hopefully you will have an equally stress free experience!

@highwire: I just finished up my first pp period a couple weeks ago and I thought I was going to bleed to death. I lost two pounds during the week of my period!!!! The next one better not be so intense! And I'm still EBF with at least one overnight feed. UGH.

  33. Mrs. Tricycle

    blogger / pear / 1964 posts

@MamaMoose: Okay, just going to hone in on your GI experience and hope for the same.

  34. mrsjyw

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts

@highwire: only bled for 2-3 weeks lightly pp. A started STTN, nightweaend at 12 weeks, then at 4.5 mths AF came back. the second cycle was 56 days later, the third 28 days later, and since then has been pretty regular 28-30 days.

@Mrs. Tricycle: my LO is army crawling but not regular crawling. she can't pull herself up to stand or sit herself up (altho i think she's getting closer... shes starting to do downward dog pose and trying to get her foot around), she's not waving, has two teeth, and is STTN. i'm still alittle worried that she's not pulling herself up to stand, but everytime i worry she surprises me and does it very soon after! so i'm *trying* not to think about it.

@highwire: I got AF around 6.5 months pp so i've had 2 cycles so far. they've pretty much gone back to normal from pre preg days. i keep forgetting how heavy it is on the 2nd day and have consistently leaked each cycle gah. i feel like i'm in jr high again or something.

Hah - I came to this thread just to check in and say that I am just getting my first period RIGHT NOW. I was hoping so so hard that it would just stay away forever as long as we are breastfeeding. Maybe it will be like some of you and will be really light and then stay away a while longer. No plans for #2 for a while so it can continue to be totally irregular for as long as it likes.

@Mrs. Tricycle: Just offering another voice to echo the sentiment that all babies are different and your 'lil trike will do all these things when he is ready The other baby at daycare has been standing and walking for months now but has no teeth. Ellie has teeth and waves and is a pro at crawling/pulling but doesn't STTN. I find it's easier not to compare once I actually do compare and see that they are all so different! Good luck with the GI doc, hope things are smooth and you find answers!

@Mrs. Tricycle: seriously, don't stress mama! Late teeth are a good thing I've heard because that means they're growing in strong! All of the babies we've met in "real life" have remarked on how early my son is to crawl/pull up/etc. - I'd say judging from their responses 10 months is "average" for crawling. Hope you get the weight gain figured out, but I'm sure part of it is expended calories with the army crawling!

My LO is crawling fast, pulling up, standing unassisted for a few seconds, doing stairs, has 2 teeth, and has never STTN in his life. We're back to 2 night nursings after months of 1 and right now I'm just leaving it as is. He puts himself to sleep, nursing him is easy because one wake is before I go to bed.. we'll see how long it lasts

@highwire: no AF yet for me.
