@scg00387: we have the britax marathon but we're still using the bsafe infant seat for now. we did the britax registry rewards thing so we got the marathon for free! albeit we're gonna probably need a second one for our other car but at least we saved alittle bit. also, i didn't want to threadjack your post on TTC#2 soon but it gave me a small panic attack. haha we do also plan to TTC our second so that they're about 2 years apart at the minimum, which means we'll start TTC exactly this time next year but the thought that it's coming up so fast scares me!

@MamaMoose: i feel your pain on the sleep!! my LO never STTN, but for a few weeks was doing 1-2 feeds overnight, which i am fine with. however the last few days its been every 2 hours SCREAMING! i am attributing it to wonder week 19 (these always hit her hard for about a week) or teething, either way, i know it will pass and she will go back to sleeping normally again. i just get up and comfort her now, nurse her, etc, and she goes back down.

@scg00387: We're trying to give our LO's lovey "candidates." I've read that they basically pick their own lovey. My hope is that they'll each have some sort of "transitional object" before the separation anxiety phase begins.

Is anyone else in the 40-minute nap phase? I can set an egg timer to their naps. We're just finishing nap #2 at 10:30am (three or four more to go before their day is over at 7pm). AGGH! I'm going crazy!
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
@twoofeverything: Yup! My LO is in day care and she usually does mostly 40 minute naps there with one longer one. But on the weekends it's like 40 minutes on the dot unless she is in my arms (where she will sleep indefinitely no matter what time of day!)
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
@NovBaby1112: Luckily I've mastered the side lying nursing so I can continue to "rest" while she eats. But I end up being so anxious for the next wake up/screamfest that I don't even get sleep while she sleeps. It's getting rough. Praying this phrase passes quickly!!

@twoofeverything: LOL! i hateee short naps! LO does 45 min ones. i cannot IMAGINE going through our nap routine for twins, that many times a day! props to you mama lol....these short cat naps are killing me. i am about to try "wake to sleep" from the baby whisperer this weekend. have you heard of that method?
@MamaMoose: i need to try that side lying thing again. the thing is, she wont co sleep with us! she loveees her space and her crib, i've tried putting her to sleep with us so i can get more sleep but she fusses until we put her in her crib. but then wakes up screaming every 2 hours for me, lol, fun times!

@MamaMoose: haha, so true...every morning when she smiles at me, i forget how miserable the night before was! all worth it

@twoofeverything: yes I can time her 40 min naps to the min! And @NovBaby1112: my LO has been sleeping horribly for about 2 weeks now. Was STTN, now up at least3x.

We had a rough night last night too. Soooo tired today. He went to sleep around 8, which is normal. He woke up around 1 and was fussing yelling. Since we sleep trained almost two weeks ago we haven't had to deal with this. He would fall asleep for a few minutes and then was back up. I was so determined just to let him deal with it and put himself back to sleep, but it wasn't happening. I'm so worried about him getting into bad habits and going backwards regarding sleep. I finally gave in after two hours of on and off fussing (worse than the first night of sleep training, btw) and nursed him. He promptly passed back out and we actually had to wake him up this morning. I really hope it was a fluke and not a habit because I didn't want to have to go through with this all over again. He was used to go 8-6/7 without nursing (for two weeks, previously he did this for about a month) so I don't understand why he would be hungry so early. My mom said he's been fine today, but maybe a little more tired. I'm not sure what we should do if it happens again tonight; let him fuss and yell or just nurse him. I always give him extra milk in a bottle before bed to make sure he is full and last night was the same. I'm so tired and my milk output today has been much less than last week.

@ChelseaRose: sorry about the rough night! I have heard its very common around this time for our little ones to wake up more at night and not be able to settle themselves back down. LO goes down awake, but has been waking up very frequently lately. I know around 4 months they have sooo much going on developmentally and mentally, and it affects sleep so much. I know it's hard, I'm exhausted too, so know you are not alone! If she needs me more at night for a few weeks until she gets through whatever mental or developmental leap she is making then so be it, I want to be there to comfort her bc I know it is out of character for her and eventually she will go back to her normal sleep habits. To be honest, I don't think any of it has to do with hunger at this age, I think nursing is just comforting to them during this period.

@twoofeverything: yup another cat napper here. He's been doing btr the last cpl wks with one long nap or even a few 1 hr naps but it's hit or miss. We havr him napping mostly in the.swing or packnplay

@kodybear: haha.. yeah we did a 180 on our family plans... eep! I think we're a little crazy but both excited
@twoofeverything: we've been gifted a ton of actual animal loveys and he is very fond of his fleece taggie blanket but those make me paranoid so I bought these: http://www.amazon.com/aden-anais-Cotton-Security-Blankets/dp/B004DCA22C/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1364257794&sr=8-13&keywords=aden+anais+security He drags it over his head constantly so I'm glad! Also, I know I've posted on your threads before but I have a 30 minute napper so I feel your 5 nap a day pain.
@ChelseaRose: sorry about your night! could it have just been hunger? our pediatrician mentioned that shorter sleep stretches might also just be from hunger (in addition to developmental stuff) as he continues to grow but isn't eating solids yet.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@twoofeverything: my LO is a serial 40-min catnapper too. 4-5 naps per day. once a week, she'll have a 2 hour nap.

Hi there! I'm a little late to the Nov 12 boards but I was lurking on the old GIANT post. Thanks for starting this one up.
LO's name: For privacy reasons, I won't give his name. We do call him Bubba.
Age: 4 Months 1 wk
Weight: He was 13 10 at his 4 month appt
Length: 25.5 in. Bubba is long and lean!
Recent milestones: He won't stop talking and loves to smile at everyone and everything! He is starting roll a little more now.
Milestone you're most looking forward to: Can't wait until he sits up. He never wants to lay down and always tries to sit up. Working on that baby core!
How's feeding going: Mainly breastfed but he's a lazy nurser so we will sometimes supplement with formula before bed if he hasn't gotten enough. Otherwise, I pump a lot.
How's sleep going: Just wrote about it on the sleep post!
What is your favorite trait about your LO? I love that this kid smiles more than any baby that I've ever known.
What is something silly that your LO does? Loves to hear himself talk
WOHM, WAHM, SAHM or on mat leave? WOHM My job has been increasingly more stressful so I'm not a fan of that. Working on getting that taken care of.
PP Feelings: I feel pretty good overall.

@scg00387: Ahhh that's so interesting! I wonder if a lovey would make a difference to us... I think maybe I'm a bit paranoid though and wouldn't sleep for worry about it over her face, ha.
@MUI831:@twoofeverything: Welcome!
persimmon / 1161 posts
@scg00387: It may have been random hunger, but he went 10+ hours for the previous 12-13 days. Fingers crossed that it was a fluke.
@NovBaby1112: I'm sorry you're dealing with a lot of wake ups too. He was really bad right around four months, we did some sleep training, and then it was better for two weeks. He will actually be five months old in a few days. He's just getting to the other side of the 19 week wonder week (he's 20.5 weeks, but was born a week early).

@kml636: Aw we're in the same boat with weight. A started in the 70th percentile but is 18th now, I think. She was 12lb 1 a month ago and 13lb 1oz now, at 19 weeks old. Little tinkerbell : )

@scg00387: I got those for my little guy too. I'm not sure how much he's taken too it though. I did sleep with it stuffed in my shirt before I gave it to him. One night I thought I would leave it stuffed in the crib mattress so that it would be close. Two seconds later he had it on his face. It freaked me out too much for night time so I went in and took it away. Maybe we will try naps with it first.

Age: 4 months
Weight/Height: will see at her 4 month appt this week, but I'm guessing about 26 in & 14 lbs
Recent milestones: giggling, rolling over, visible tooth buds!
Milestone i'm most looking forward to: 'ma ma'!
How's feeding going: great, EBF with no issues.
How's sleep going: 7-7 with 3 wake ups for eating only. 4 - 30 minute cat naps.
Favorite trait: how easy going & happy she is. She will play/let anyone hold her and smile up a storm. She still saves her giggles for momma though
WAHM
PP Feelings: feel great & love being a mom! Making a bigger effort to get out of the house every day as I feel we both go a little stir crazy when we stay in all day. Still have 10 lbs to go to PP weight and none of my clothes really fit (will button/zip - but do not look acceptable!). Would like to lose that plus another 10. Have been exercising but suppose I will need to start montioring what I eat more closely...
Has anyone had the 4 month shots yet? Did you LO do better or worse than after their 2 month shots?
I think she has adopted her A&A blankie as her lovey. I usually wrap her legs since I wanted her to be covered and not have a loose blanket, but she'll squirm until it's free and pat her face with it.

@ChelseaRose: im hoping this wonder week passes quickly for us! how did you sleep train? did you do it for going to sleep by themselves or for night weaning? curious to see how it worked for you...
what are your LOs awake times in between naps? DD has been at 1.5 hrs since about 12 weeks, and Im noticing she is fighting going down for naps lately. i work part time, and the person who watches her every other day has been extending her awake times to 1.45-2 hrs and i noticed she has been napping for a lot longer for her than for me, and I am wondering if she is ready for more awake time. I am working from home today so I am going to try it. I guess i just always err on the side of caution, as i am so afraid of LO being overtired!

@travelgirl1: @ChelseaRose: I am normally so paranoid but after two nights and all his naps of him dragging it over his face, I think I'm okay with it. I folded it four times in a row thick and could still breathe through it! He absolutely adores it in such a short amount of time, and I am thrilled it's helping him self soothe. For the first time ever I got him back into his crib after 5 AM to extend night sleep (normally if he wakes after 4:30 he doesnt want to nurse but refuses to sleep in his crib and will either sleep on me or just wake up) But I totally hear where you're coming from!
honeydew / 7687 posts
@NovBaby1112: we're still firmly at 1.5. I usually go in and start reading around 1 hour 15 minutes unless he shows tired signs before that. Extending, at least right now, usually just means tears. He does usually go 2 or more hours between last name and down for the night though. If it's working for your nanny, I'd totally try it!

@mrsjyw: Oh no!
I haven't been taking my birth control lately because I kept forgetting and also because I was being cranky about the fact that we haven't been DTD. Well, of course we did it last night and I just had totally unprotected sex (but told him to pull out). Ack. Getting back on the pill today.

hey everyone! i really want to join in too! i just find it hard to get on here often. I saw the other postpartum and was overwhelmed with how fast it grew so i never participated. I saw this one when it started a few days ago and read the first few posts and already i am behind again, LOL. but i will try to keep up a bit more. I'll have to remember to read it when I am nursing. The posts I read on the first page, I was able to relate to a lot. I love that we have a group of us with babies in the exact same developmental stages!
Here is my "intro"
LO's name: Louis Alexandre (first name pronounced with no "S", so it's "Lou-ee"
Age: 4 Months, 13 days
Weight: At his 4m appt, he was 14.23 lbs
Length: 25 inches!
Recent milestones: He rolled form tummy to back yesterday!!! And i was so happy to see it! His voice and giggles have also reached new levels of pitch this week, I love it!
Milestone you're most looking forward to: sitting up
How's feeding going: EBF, really well. No issues, except he eats better when he is flat on his back. So it's hard to nurse him while sitting on the couch (can only do that when he is super calm, like just woke up). So otherwise I nurse him standing over the change table or lying down on the bed.
How's sleep going: We have good days and bad days. Since yesterday, we are transitioning him out of the bassinet to the pnp and he woke up ALOT last night.
What is your favorite trait about your LO? his smile and laughter. And how he looks so peaceful when he sleeps.
What is something silly that your LO does? Loves squealing and kicking his legs when he's excited. And we always know when he pees because he goes limp and makes a funny grunting sound.
WOHM, WAHM, SAHM or on mat leave? on mat leave for a year.
PP Feelings: So much better than the first 2 months! And i am finally starting to lose weight, so I'm thrilled about that!

@mrsjyw: awwwww that sux. I had some spotting for a couple of days so i thought it was coming back, but it stopped. that's happened on 2 different occasions.

@PurpleUnicorn: a rolled from belly to back yest too!...
Really light so we'll see if it's back or just random spotting.
I think it's bcuz a sttn and I don't pump at night...I workrd out hard yest too so I'm.blaming jillian too. Haha

@NovBaby1112: We're at 1.5...although occasionally it's as short as 1.25. I've tried extending their awake time, but all it has gotten me is two cranky babies and the same length of naps.
I'm SOOOO ready for them to be 3-nap-a-day babies. Sooooo ready.
grapefruit / 4066 posts
@mrsjyw: boooo I'm sorry!! I got mine at 8 weeks pp! Sucks sooooo bad!!!
Sooo I don't know if it was a fluke or what, but I waited until 1 hr 45 mins before putting her down for a nap and she slept for 2 hours!! I'll take it even if it was a fluke! Maybe she is ready for more awake time...

She's getting so heavy lately! I can't maneuver her nearly as well as I used to!

@mrsjyw: oh no! I felt like I was about to get mine a few times, but nothing yet. I guess that's the downside to a baby who STTN.

@highwire: I'm a little nervous about the birth control too. I always forget AND my midwife said if you forget one pill, use backup for a week! Yikes ! I don't have AF yet though...

K ladies am I the only nut with baby fever?? Seeing the nov 2013 thread makes me wish we could ttc now! I never thought I'd feel like this! I don't want to endanger EBF though so were holding off until 6 months at the earliest. No AF here yet - but LO slept 7-7 ish with a 5 am feed (and pumped dream feed) so I don't know d that'll affect it.
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@scg00387: Yes, you are the only one! Haha.
For now, I want to be one of those couples with BIG space between our babies (like 7 years)
