@scg00387: hehe... i get random AWWW moments about being pregnant, lo #2, even birth! but def not the fever! just ended my first AF visit... DS started sttn at 12 wks and got AF at 17 wks. we're going to hold off until after DS turns one. then we'll probably watch the months we're TTC so that we don't have another Nov or a Dec baby.

@highwire: haha! My sister and I are eleven years apart and it was awesome growing up because it was like I was an only child but had a sibling now that I'm older!
@mrsjyw I know, I was looking through hospital birth photos the other day!
I think part of it is also wanting to have the itty bitty stages done somewhat close together. I can't imagine getting to sleep a ton and starting up preschool an extracurricular activities and then boom throwing a raging newborn in the mix! So its partially self preservation, more crazy short term for less crazy long term and having my body back for good.

@scg00387: Yeah that's how I'm thinking of it. Either they need to be spaced REALLY close together, or really far apart. Having a toddler and a newborn sounds like absolute hell to me.

@scg00387: Haha! Ummmm...no. I'm popping BCP's like they are freaking skittles. Every now and then I get a twinge of, "gee, it would be interesting to see what this is like with only one baby..." then I snap the heck out of it! Love my babes, but this is plenty.
Well, we had our 4 month checkup yesterday. C is 14 pounds and N is 12. But they are both in, like, the 90th percentiles for length. Little noodles! Otherwise, everything looked good. Poor babies slept for 3.5 hours straight afterward...probably because I let them sleep in the swing and on our bed. I'm such a sucker. Of course, DH took the day off and was watching them during that whole time because I had a dentist appointment, so I'm sure he continues to wonder why I can't get them to nap for more than 40 minutes!

@highwire: DH knows my ideal is for our littles to be 4-5 years apart. It's the same spacing as my brother and me and to have to only pay for one child in daycare at once is my main motivation.
He and his sister are under 2 years apart though and it worked out great for them but it's just the reality that we would have a hard time affording child are for two babies. It still wouldn't be worth me staying home money-wise but it would be that much harder to go to work and we would have almost nothing to put towards savings.

@scg00387: hah. i'm nowhere near baby fever, but i've finally begun to say "i could do this again!". it only took me 5 months to adjust to having a baby

Hi All! We survived our first cross country vacation including two 6 hour flights and a three hour time change! LO did awesome, considering! The ergo & baby Ktan were lifesavers... even wore her in the baby Ktan to happy hour, lol! Overall it was a great trip. Scary & exhausting, but I'm so glad we did it. She probably cried a total of 20 mins each way on the plane ride. Anyways, now that we are back I told myself we'd be swaddle and paci weaning. But, I keep putting it off since now she has to readjust to the time difference, etc. We'll see!

@scg00387: girl... you are CRAZY. Or a Saint. One or the other. I'm finally getting to the point where I can imagine having another baby EVER never mind any time soon. My ideal would be for the kiddos to be three years apart. That's how my brother and I are and I really like it.
@twoofeverything: My LO always ends up taking good naps when daddy is around. The little stinkers!
@kml636: Very impressive! I was proud of myself for making a 2.5 hour flight. Six is awesome! As far as swaddle weaning... I wouldn't push it unless LO is rolling over. We put our LO in the halo swaddle sack and she went to one arm out with no issue. But every time I tried to get the second arm out she would freak. Then suddenly last night she was squirming to get her other arm out. So I pulled them both out... she rolled herself over on her side and slept much better than she has been! I'm slowly learning babies just do things in their own time.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@kml636: you gooo mama! I can't even imagine surviving multiple flights!
We're trying to plan our first family vacation right now and DH's #1 priority is a short flight.... A will be 6 months.

@SleepyMonkey: haha I'm still not sure I'm adjusted sometimes. @kml636: holy cow go babykml636! That is awesome so glad it went well
@MamaMoose: haha definitely crazy. I think if 3 years passed and I went back to normal sleep and non leakin boobs I'd never have the guys to do it all over again!! Glad second arm out swaddle weaning went well!

@scg00387: sometimes i think about having another baby soon, but then i think about daycare costs for two and i freak out alittle bit. haha. we plan to TTC for #2 in march of next year tho. i'm sure a year will come fast.
@kml636: wow that's awesome about your trip!! and thats so good that she didn't cry much on the plane ride! i'm scared to take LO anywhere yet bc of how she'll do on a plane or overnight somewhere new. last weekend was the first time we took LO out of the city for a day to my sister's and she napped alot better than i expected! so we might think abt taking a trip
LO is battling her first major diaper rash its so sad. i think its a yeast infection tho so i've been lathering up on lotrimin and triple paste. poor girl is crying her eyes out tho. the last couple nights her night time sleep has been affected cause of it. if any of you guys have gone through this let me know any tips! ugh after this rash goes away i'm gonna lather on triple paste every single night cause i never want her to have it again!!
honeydew / 7687 posts
@kodybear: it will come up fast!! But yes I stay at home otherwise we'd definitely have to reconsider spacing. Daycare is so expensive! That stinks about the rash we've only had one bout before we switched to cloth - blow drying in between changes and sunshine did the trick. Hope she feels better soon!
pomegranate / 3225 posts
@mrsjyw: yeah a short nonstop flight would not be bad at all... @kodybear: that is so rough about her diaper rash! Ugh! Hope she's better soon. P

@kodybear: I hope LO's diaper rash clears up quickly for you! We had our first diaper rash this last week/weekend too. We cloth diaper so I was trying coconut oil and California Baby calendula cream - but it never made a difference. Put her in disposables and loaded her up with Desitin and it was almost gone the next day! I felt bad for waiting a few days before trying the 'traditional' remedy in favor of the hopes of something more natural working
I'm scared to go back to CD's at night because we don't change her unless it's #2 and I think the wetness against her skin for 10-12 hours was the major contributing factor to the rash. I think I'm going to buy some liners and see if we can still use the cloth with desitin. We'll see. Anyone else use cloth and have a diaper rash yet? What worked for you in the long term?
@kml636: High Five on your stellar little traveler! I consider anyone who has flown with their baby so brave. We're trying to plan a trip to Chicago (from FL) this summer when LO will be about 8 months old. Crossing my fingers it will go smoothly whenever it is
honeydew / 7687 posts
@lindseykaye: we do disposes over night with triple paste and cloth during the day so I'm no help
LO figured out tummy to back rolling and is working on scooting on his tummy... It's unnerving to turn back around and he's not at all where I left him! Not sure I'm ready for this mobility!

@travelgirl1: Forgot to say so on the other thread but BIG congratulations on A's healthy hips! You've been an awesome mama through all of that!
@highwire: And congrats to you, Miss Hostess!!
pomegranate / 3225 posts
@lindseykaye: I think 8 months will also be a good age because they aren't too mobile yet. That would be exhausting once they start walking!
Miss Lily survived her first night without the swaddle! wooo hooo!!! she woke up twice from 6:45 pm to 6:30 am. Not bad at all!
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@kml636: Nice! What is Lily wearing to sleep now? We still put C in the halo sleep sack, we just leave her arms out.
pomegranate / 3225 posts
@highwire: yes we also put her in a sleep sack. I'm so relieved it went well

Poor baby N had some sort of stomach bug yesterday. OMG it was awful. She threw up everything in both of her afternoon bottles, and she was coughing, to boot. I, of course, freaked out and took her to the Children's Urgent Care. They sweetly handed me a bottle of Pedialyte and told me to keep an eye on her.
Duh.
She's doing much better this morning after sleeping really well last night. I bought a humidifier and put it in their room, which I think is helping both of them with the cough, (which helps with the gagging, which hopefully helps with the puking).
My poor baby!

@twoofeverything: Oh, how scary! Hope she is feeling better.
@kml636: Way to go on the going without swaddle!
We're still swaddling with one arm out. I think I must be the last of the November mama's still using one. She's still obsessed with gnawing on her arms, flailing about, and rubbing her face. I keep wanting to try going without some weekend where I don't work the next day, but we've just had too much going on. Eh, maybe this weekend?
Have any of you mama's with LO's in daycare been fighting repeated colds since going back to work? Em will get a little congested, but I'll get a full blown cold. I don't know if it's the lack of sleep (she doesn't STTN), not getting the time to exercise, not eating well, or what...but I just can't seem to shake it.
kiwi / 643 posts
@SLR: Nope, we're still swaddling over here! Planning to try the "loosening up" method next week, starting with naps. I scared.

@twoofeverything: I hope they feel better soon!
Just now at 5am I am finally not throwing up. I don't know if I ate something bad or if this is a quick bug but I've had a mild cold since Monday morning and now this on top of it has been awful. @SLR: This is the first time I've been sick in a year(!!) and I did notice LO has had a runny nose since about Saturday with a little extra coughing and sneezing too. She's always been a sneezer and her coughing has increased since she started teething thanks to the drool but this is something different. I really hope this thing with me was something I ate and that LO and DH are spared this same fate.
pear / 1616 posts
@twoofeverything: Hope N is feeling better!!
@SLR: i've gotten sick once since she's been in daycare (shes been there about a month now). i didn't think about it being due to daycare but it does make sense! lo is constantly alittle congested but it doesnt seem to affect her mood much which is good.
@lindseykaye: ack hope you feel better soon!! being a mom + being sick is like the worst combo ever.
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@SLR: C has had a cough for over a month. It will get a little better, and then it will get worse again. I've caught a stomach virus last week and I my throat is scratchy this week. Just par for the course I guess! Sucks.
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
@twoofeverything: Poor little lady! Hope you guys get back on track with healthy babies!
@SLR: We were stuck with one arm in the swaddle for WEEKS and then one night M just decided on her own that she wanted that other arm out and she did great! I haven't yet gotten full blown sick (knock on wood) but I often wake up with a really achy throat with lots of post nasal drip. Luckily M doesn't seem to have any symptoms though. If one us has to get sick I'd rather it be me than her!

UM, SERIOUSLY WE HAVE TEETH.
TWO TEETH POKING THROUGH ON THE BOTTOM.
I SERIOUSLY ALMOST HAD A MOMMY MELTDOWN YESTERDAY.
edit://
