I told DH today...I put this at the bottom of a huge box filled with red tissue paper. He was so excited! Now I can't wait to go to the doctor (secretly wishing they'd see me sooner)!!! Happy Valentine's Day!!!

@mrsjenbug: aw cute! I can't believe you waited so long to tell him tho--no way I'd be able to keep it in!! I told dh about Lo1 on Valentine's day 3 years ago.

@hilsy85: well, I was going crazy and I dropped all kinds of hints but he was completely oblivious...if not for you all being here to tell, I would have told him immediately (but the first time I didn't do anything cute and I thought with Valentine's coming up I had an opportunity to do something cute)

@mrsjenbug: That is such a cute card! Makes me wish I had told DH in a fun way, but he was there when I took the test. Maybe for the next baby

I noticed today that my prenatals don't have any iron in them. I take the vitafusion gummies since swallowing pills makes me gag right now. Do I need to look into a different kind of prenatals to get my iron? I don't eat much red meat so I doubt I get a ton of iron from just my diet. I plan on leaving a message with a nurse at my OB's office on Monday to ask, but I wanted to double check here too.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@jodyblair: the gummies vitamins don't usually have iron in them because if child gets a hold of them and eat a bunch, they could be toxic or cause an iron overdose. You can ask your Dr how much iron they suggest you take and take iron supplements. Or you can load up on iron rich foods, if you don't want to take pills. Or you could take pills with Apple sauce, that's the only way I get my pills down.
Here is a list of iron rich foods. Iron fortified pasta and spinach is something I could eat right now. I make fruit smoothies and add spinach to it to get dose of green veggies.

@mrsjenbug: so cute!
I was really struggling last night. A giant ball of exhaustion, nausea and hormones. Dh has been gone for over a week now and i just feel like I'm falling apart trying to do it all on my own. Dd misses him so much and is whinier than she usually is because of it. It never bothered me before when he traveled for work for extended periods and it was just dd and I, but throw first trimester in there and it's a whole new ball game.
Luckily my parents saw the mess I was, came to pick DD up for the night so I could get a good sleep and dropped off the first real meal I've eaten in days. I slept 12 full hours and feel like a million bucks. Soooo thankful to them. One more week until Dh is back...can't come soon enough.
Anyway. Sorry for the rant - I was feeling sorry for myself last night. Hope you're all feeling well!

@mrsjenbug: what a cute card!!
@jodyblair: oh wow, I take the gummy ones too...I never thought to check the iron content in them. Oh well...I should be fine, I eat plenty of meat and veggies but that makes sense why they don't put it in there after @bluestriped bee explained why. Doesn't iron make you constipated though? I think it helps with feeling exhausted all the time, but I couldn't deal with constipation!
@Charm54: aww sorry you are feeling so worn down- I can't even imagine my DH being gone for weeks. It's bad enough he's not home most of the week for bedtime, but I sooo look forward to the weekends when he is home. That's awesome of your parents!!! And wow 12 hours!? That is amazing- that must hVe felt so good! hope you survive the next week until your DH comes home.
As for us, we are in the middle of yet again another freaking snow storm. I also over this. Cooped up in the house all day todayand probably tomorrow too. I cannot wait for spring!! I am super excited for some of the ultrasounds tomorrow though!

First doctor appointment:no idea! need to call tomorrow.
Any symptoms so far? Well, I passed out last Saturday. And exhaustion.
Who have you told? Mom, sister, and a few close friends.
I'm freaking out at the idea of 2 even though we were NTNP! Feeling bad that I'm not 100% excited but hopefully as I process the whole thing it will get better. Looking forward to posting with you ladies!

@NovBaby1112: I hear you - we are in the middle of a blizzard today. I don't mind the snow so much, but it's the extreme cold that been killing me. We can't even go outside to play or go for walks...it sucks! Looking forward to spring

@Charm54: ugh that sounds rough glad you got some rest at least!
@mamabolt: congrats!!
I have a case of the sniffles and it is about -15 degrees outside with the windchill...so over winter!

@mamabolt: Welcome.
As for me, the nausea definitely started this weekend. Almost exactly at 5 weeks. It wasn't happening in the morning but more around mid day on Saturday and Sunday. Google that morning sickness is a misnomer and that it's really just nausea and vomiting at any point during pregnancy, not necessarily in the morning. Then this morning I woke up with some morning sickness (just nausea). Crackers and ginger ale seem to help. Funny, maybe it's the baby(s) giving me a gift for it being u/s day. Wondering when the vomiting will start. Ugh, not looking forward to that.

@mrsjenbug: What a cute idea
@mamabolt: Congrats and welcome!
Finally got my beta results from Friday (15dpo) It was 391. Doctor says she still does not believe I need to be on progesterone (it was 18) but she put me on it with DS when it was 21 at 5 weeks, sooo I don't care, I told her I feel more comfortable being on it. Ultrasound is scheduled for March 5th! I'll be 7 weeks on the dot. Excited but super anxious.

Also, anyone have any gender guesses yet? I know it's still super early, but I have a feeling I'm having another boy. I don't know why. I was right with DS, too. We only want two kids so it would be nice to have a girl, too, but I also think it would be great for DS to have a little brother.

Well, first appointment down. Just a nurse appointment so no u/s or Doppler. I go in next Wednesday for my first u/s. Today was peeing in a cup, getting four vials of blood drawn, and getting the "dos and don'ts" list which felt silly since I just did this two years ago. Weirdly, I've lost two pounds since before I got pregnant but I feel like I've gained five.
Just counting the days until next Wednesday now!

@NurseDMB: I really feel like I'm having a girl but I wonder if it's because I already have a girl so that's just what's in my head when I think about being pregnant and having a baby. Can't wait to find out!

First doctor appointment: 02/26, at exactly 7 weeks
Any symptoms so far? Tired, Sore boobs, weird dreams, cramps
Who have you told? Husband, both sets of parents
nice to meet y'all

@NurseDMB: we will be TG but I am thinking this is a boy...my pregnancy is soo much different than with DD (though that could be due to exhaustion from chasing a toddler around). It wil also be our last - I am kind of hoping for a sister for DD but a boy would be really fun too and I know dh would be stoked! I can't wait to find out what this little baby is!

@bluestriped bee: @Leialou: Can't wait to hear how your U/S go today and if there are any twins on the board!
kiwi / 611 posts
@NurseDMB: I don't blame you for wanting to be on the progesterone...it definitely can't hurt!
@bluestriped bee: I'm sorry the nausea has started...no fun! Good luck at your ultrasound today!
@NurseDMB: I don't have a feeling one way or the other yet, but I really want a girl. I'm actually kind of worried I'll initially be disappointed if we're having another boy. Of course I will love either a boy or a girl, but I do have a preference and I'm almost scared to find out and be disappointed. Now that I've written that out it sounds so awful!!!
squash / 13764 posts
@NurseDMB: I also think I'm having another boy...happy either way!
@jodyblair: not awful, we want to have 3 so there's less pressure on this one, but if it is a boy, I know I will really want #3 to be a girl!
kiwi / 611 posts
@hilsy85: We're pretty sure we want 3 too, so all hope isn't lost if this one is a boy
grapefruit / 4066 posts
@mamabolt: welcome and congrats!!
@Leialou: @bluestriped bee: can't wait to hear your updates!!
@NurseDMB: since I found out I was pregnant I have been thinking girl, even though so far my pregnancies have been pretty different. The last few days though I've been having more boy thoughts, so I don't know what to think now lol. I would be happy with either- I'd love to have a little boy but I'd also love another girl and to give DDa sister.

Is anyone doing any of the first tri screenings and finding gender out early?
cherry / 126 posts
@justjules: it is my first too! I'm also super nervous/excited.
Team what prenatals do you take? I was taking rainbow light petite prenatal but then I noticed they have red raspberry leaf in them and I freaked out. I see my primary tomorrow.
squash / 13764 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: I am going to ask my ob about it...I'm under 35 but would really like the reassurance of the genetic screening.
@babybronco: I take nature made.
grapefruit / 4066 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: I really want to get one of the genetic screening blood tests done, but not sure if they will offer or if I will qualify since I am under 35, but I def plan on asking. My sister was offered one and she is 27, but I know all hospitals are different. DH's cousin has down syndrome though, so maybe that will be enough to qualify me? We'll see. I am going to push for it though. I'd love the reassurance of finding out so early and finding out gender early is a bonus!

@NovBaby1112: I think you can always opt to get it, it just might not be covered by insurance? Or at least that's what I've been told by friends who had it done recently.
grapefruit / 4066 posts
@hilsy85: oh really? Hmm I will have to ask my OB when I have my appt. I don't know if I would do it if insurance didn't cover it and it was crazy expensive though! Maybe I could just call my insurance and find out how much it would cost. I don't think they had these tests around when we were pregnant the first time!
squash / 13764 posts
@NovBaby1112: nope they did not! I think it depends on the test, my friend just did one that was $900, I've also heard they can be like )3k!
grapefruit / 4066 posts
@hilsy85: yikes! Yea, my DH would kill me if I asked for the test and got a bill for 3k I have my first apt with my OB on Feb 26th so I can ask her about it then.
pomegranate / 3516 posts
@NurseDMB: I feel like I'm having another girl but I don't know if that's just because LO was a girl so I feel like if I'm pregnant, it's with a girl. We'll be happy either way although I think DH wants another girl!
kiwi / 611 posts
@NovBaby1112: I have a good friend who is a few weeks ahead of us and her OB oferred the Maternit21. She hadn't met her deductible yet so she would have paid for it out of pocket so her ob told her she could self pay instead of billing insurance and it would be substantially cheaper. Something to think about!
I've officially entered super crazy pregnant lady territory. Even after great betas, I still went out and bought a digital test with the weeks estimator today. Maybe now that this showed up I'll relax a little bit! But probably not.
