@Coco Bee: you are so motivated! i need some of that motivation, i dont want to work out at all and definitely dont want to eat healthy i still have about 5 lbs to lose to get back to pre preg weight but would like to lose an additional 10 lbs and i definitely have a muffin top and ugly ugly stretch marks!

@mrsaudi: hahaha all the motivation I need is seeing the one pair of jeans I fit into and the 2 tops in my closet. It's depressing. I have no extra $$ for new clothes, so I need to be able to fit into my old clothes.
Plus I give myself little incentives. I am saving up a little extra $$ on the side so that if I lose the extra weight I will treat myself to a shopping spree I've always wanted to have a few hundred dollars to just go on a shopping spree and never really saved for one... so it is my motivation!

Oh and when I see myself in photos I am so disgusted. I hate how fat I look I don't want to look like that.

AND when I'm running and just want to stop - I think about WHY I'm doing this. Yes, I'm doing it to be healthy, to feel good about myself, to wear cute clothes - but I'm doing it for my son, for my family. If I live a healthy life, I can live longer for them, and function best for them. I can actively play with my son if I strive to be healthy.

My mom didn't live a healthy life and even tho she isn't even 50, she has sooo many health problems and misses out on so much of our lives. I invited her to every one of my prenatal appts so she could hear DS's heartbeat and she never was able to make even one. She always feels guilty for letting us down. I never want to do that to my family.

whew that was long-winded.. but that's where my motivation comes from. When I'm at the gym and I don't want to keep going - I just keep telling myself that and it gives me that extra push I need to keep going.

@Coco Bee: well thats awesome that you are motivated and sticking to it! do you run with LO? or how do you workout with him around? I really want to start running but LO would definitely have to tag along, and our gyms here do not do daycare.

    blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts

@mrsaudi: hmm.. that is a bummer our gym has a daycare so that's how I workout.

We did get a jogging stroller but I prefer to run on the treadmill.

If we didn't have a gym membership I think I would do some videos during LO's naps. There are some great workout videos on netflix. I've heard Jillian Michaels is great too.

All right, ladies.....I'm going to 'join' up here. I am about 5 months post partum of a loss at 20 wks. We've been trying again haven't been successful. I now weigh more than when I did 5 months pregnant. : / I've just been dealing with our loss, not working, and not eating well.

So, tomorrow morning, I'm getting up and going to the gym!!! (For the first time in ages) Literally, the last time I was there, I was pregnant. That's just downright awful.

@Jennimac: so sorry about your loss...it definitely has to make getting motivated to exercise especially hard Did you make it to the gym this morning?
@Coco Bee: Awesome reasons for getting back in shape! Great way to stay motivated!

Sooo I am now 5 weeks pp... My weight was steadily declining at first but has remained fairly stagnant the last 2 weeks. I have about 20 lb to lose, which is depressing! I went jogging with the hubs one night last week. We take the baby to a 1/3 mi track and one of us runs a lap while the other walks the babe and we trade off til we've had our fill. I did an exercise video one day as well. I need to do it more often to get my weight to budge! Was going to go today but ran out of time before DH's football game came on. The plan is to in the a.m. Wish me luck!

@Amelieisme: Unfortunately, I did not make it to the gym this morning. I woke up with the worst migraine I've had in years. We had a horrible storm and I think that stirred up stuff that I'm allergic to. Oh well. I did do well and didn't really eat anything too bad today, so I guess it was a bit of trade off.

I have 10 weeks before my trip and at least 6 lbs to lose (preferably 10). I ran 5 miles on Friday and that was my first time to workout in about 2 weeks - boo! My goal is to workout at least 3x/week but we'll see how that goes.

I've been baking a lot and therefore eating bad. I might have to cut out the baking until I get back in track.... But it's so goooood hehe

I'm just going to wander in here for the first time to say that I just finished week 6 of C25K. It nearly killed me, but I prevailed in the end.

I was 150 before I got pregnant the first time and 205 at the end of my second pregnancy. Now I'm down to 170 which is below my pre-Wonder Baby weight but still 20 to go to reach my pre-Toddler Girl weight.

As a side note, I can fit my jeans from back then, as in I can do them up and have the muffin top from hell. Apparently my butt is fine, it's all in the tummy.

Hello everyone! So I didn't make the am run yesterday, but we did go in the evening! The weather was beautiful so was easy to go. We did a 3 mi run/walk combo. I think we are going to join a gym today. I am usually a runner and not much of a gym rat, but they have daycare and winter is on the horizon so I figure I will need some gym access.

Eating wise...doing okay. I have such a sweet tooth and want dessert every night..so bad! Had a gooey butter cake on Saturday, but nothing sweet yesterday! Really have to break that habit!

    How's everyone else doing?

Willa's new wakeup time is 5:30, so on Saturday I took her for another jog, thinking it would get her to sleep... ummm no. After 3.75 miles, I was tired and she was wide awake (I will never understand this child's sleep patterns!).

I'm going to try to go every other day. (I'm a much happier person as long as I'm exercising). I'm about to start weaning so I'm curious to see how that will affect my workouts (it would be nice to not have to pump before each workout).

@Mrs. Superhero: wooo!! I've started C25K several times and never finished. Can you run a 5k now?

@Amelieisme: All you have to do is find recipes for HEALTHY sweets... sounds crazy I know! I did some research on this with my sister. I've mostly cut out all sugar and opt for natural, unprocessed sweeteners now.
My FAVORITE treat has become these AMAZING chocolate brownies. No flour, no sugar. Lots of protein! It's like eating a protein bar, but dessert. http://ahomeinthemaking.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/create-double-chocolate-brownies.html
seriously... so good. OH and I know the recipe calls for chocolate chunks, I make my own. It is annoying that it takes longer, but it makes you appreciate it more.
I use this to make my own chocolate bars: http://pinterest.com/pin/118289927682697368/

Oh and for both recipes use raw honey if you can... agave is actually highly processed and refined so just as bad as sugar

@BabyBoecksMom: OMG I know. I just don't understand babies and sleep. It changes ALL the time.

@Coco Bee: those look DELICIOUS! I will have to try those soon! Knowing me, I'll eat the whole batch in one sitting

@BabyBoecksMom: Good for you for taking the opportunity to run with her. That's so early! Was she happy and awake or fussy? I can't wait until my LO is old enough to go in the running stroller.

Haven't posted here in a bit! Still working out - when I can - usually 4x a wk plus walks. 4 mos post Partum, 3 lbs to go and fit into my normal jeans! Still have a tummy and giant boobs but happy with how I look now. Would love to lose 5 more lbs though.

Well ladies, I got up early this morning and went to the gym! I did day 1 of Couch to 5K. I'm packing my bag for tomorrow. I enjoyed it and I felt really good all day today.

So, good day. Plus, Hubby is home for the week. yay!

Sounds like everyone is doing great!
    @winniebee: that's great!
@Amelieisme: Does your gym have any age restriction on daycare? Ours is 4 months
I've started running everyday. I'm only up to 3 miles a day but it's a good start. I still have about 10 pds to lose but I feel like I can get there now that I'm finally working out regularly.

@Amelieisme: I used to get up that early before I was pregnant and work out, so I'm kind of used to it (except I used to have more sleeo). I know if I don't workout I the morning, I won't do it. I think my daughter inherited my early morning tendencies lol! She was perfectly happy to be up at that hour.

@Jennimac: Good job! How do you feel so far?

aw so happy to see things are going well. We went on a mini vacay in the states and that killed me. I gained 4 lbs when I was on a losing streak and even though i'm down 2lb I have a hard time getting those extra 2 (and more) off.

We got a jogging stroller so I'm starting C25K this week. I need to make a schedule so i follow it. Zumba starts on thursday. and sundays it's swimming with Mavrick. Hopefully i'll be able to lose the extra 12 lbs (to get to 160 lbs) and then aim for 150 (something I haven't weighed in over 14 years!)

I do feel great but I can feel greater! I dunno...I'm motivated. I just wish my husband was.

Ok, I'm rejoining this thread now that I've actually started to do some exercise! I'm 11 weeks pp and still up about 17 lbs from pre-pregnancy, sigh. My mom was visiting from weeks 3 - 10 and as she lives a much more sedentary lifestyle than I do, I sort of fell into her habits. I will NOT be making that mistake again as I feel pretty horrible about myself and cannot wait to get back to my normally fit self!

Anyway, since she left (1.5 weeks ago), I've been taking DD on 4.5 mile walks at least 4 days per week. It's not great but I walk at a pretty good clip and we live in a very hilly neighbourhood so it has been quite the workout for me. I have yet to start doing Shred as the walking alone has shown me just how out of shape I am, but now that I'm managing the walking better, I think it's time to introduce my flabby self to my old friend Jillian.

I've finally retired nearly all of my maternity clothes but am still relegated to the larger clothes in my wardrobe as my skinny jeans and such give me an awesome muffin top. Shirts are my biggest issue but I've resigned myself to the fact that they're not going to fit normally until I stop bf'ing. I just want my thighs to slim down and for my waist to come back, along with my abdominal muscles, so those are my main areas of focus now!

A lot of you are so inspirational with your weight loss and healthy lifestyles so I need to not 'accidentally' avoid this thread when I see it pop up and use it for motivation! Keep up the great work ladies!

    Okay! Joining in now too.
    Pre-preg weight: 116
    Day DD was born: 186
    Today 4.5months PP: 145

Woo Hoo! It's been super hard. I work out 4x/week (2x with a trainer) doing mostly conditioning (burpees, rowing, situps, etc) and weight lifting. Stomache is still my weakest part. Butt is better than before - has to be the 100s of squats lol.

I always heard the last 20 lbs are the hardest so trying to keep up diet and motivation!

@Jennimac: congrats on the workout yesterday! Glad to hear you're feeling a little better...been thinking of you. Exercise is always the best medicine!

@krsmall: Not sure the lower age limit. We asked, but all the person there said was under 9 mo you could only leave for 1 hr max. He didn't think there was a lower limit, but wasn't 100% sure. We still need to double check that. The nice thing is the gym is on the bottom floor of our condo building so really convenient. So I will have no excuse!

@Ree723: Congrats on getting back into it! It's nice that you can fit into some of your clothes now. I cannot wait to get out of maternity clothes. I bought a pair of "fat" jeans b/c I feel like the maternity jeans just accentuate my pooch!

@anacarlin: Welcome! Thinking of getting some PT too at least to help me set up a routine.

So me...no exercise today...busy day! But I did run 2 mi at a pitiful pace yesterday! Yay me! I ate pretty well today except I had pizza for dinner. Okay...I will do some sort of exercise tomorrow. Will keep ya posted

@Coco Bee: I can run 25 min without stopping now...I think it ends at 30 minutes...which is probably around 5k, but I'd have to measure it out sometime. I started once before, but then I got puking pregnant, so that didn't go well.

I am also trying to remember to do some post partum ab stuff, but the babies crawl all over me when I'm on the floor and the cat seems to think it's fun to attack my foot everytime I extend it. Hazardous.

    joining in:)
    pre-pregnancy weight: 127lbs
    pregnancy weight gain: 30lbs
    total: 157lbs

Today I am 18 days PP and have lost 22lbs
so I have 8lbs to my pre-pregnancy PLUS about 5lbs to my "new goal" weight

I have been taking pictures to try and encourage myself. This is me the day I gave birth, 7 days later and today (18 days later)
    DAY 1 (1)
    DAY 1 (2)
    day 7 (1)
    day 7 (3)
    day 18 (1)
    day 18 (2)
    day 18 (3)

What i've done so far..just housework and EBF. I do hope to get into the gym at exactly 3w PP and start speed walking on the threadmill. Once I feel completely healed up, i'll start jogging and lifting weights. I *hope* to be back down to pre-pregnancy size by 8w. My clothing fits now but I don't like how I look in anything...so, the goal is to look good in jeans again!

@TurtleDoves: I LOVE that you posted that picture with the hospital underwear - you are my hero!!

I have about 15 lbs to lose to get to my "goal" weight (about 8 lb to get back to pre-baby weight). I'm 5 weeks pp, but don't have a real plan in place for exercising. I'm starting post-natal yoga in a week & plan on doing a Zumba class in Jan if I feel like I have time. I just don't know how I can care for DS & do more than walking the dog.

@TurtleDoves: OMG you Sex Kitten you! You look AMAZING!!!!! First of all, I hope my stomach goes down as much as yours in the hospital (and I also plan to rock those hospital panties bc I read that you're just going to destroy your own so might as well use theirs)...It seems like no one really knows what they're stomach is going to do right after birth - if it will settle down or just chill out looking 6 months preg. So for the record, you looked great right after birth! And to be 18 days PP and only have 8 lbs left- Holy crap! I get really scared sometimes reading stories about how hard it is to lose the weight PP, but you are my idol!!! You give me hope! You do not look like you just popped a person out of there!

Thank you:) I hope this thread really wakes up because it is nice to have people to share experiences with and hopefully get some ideas from.
p.s: Princessbaby: I wore the underwear because I was too medicated to remember where my panties were. And when I found them, I just looked at them and was literally like "hell no...not even going to try to squeeze my a** into those". So, YES, take the underwear and throw out all pride!
