I had a leep in 2006 (so it was a while ago) and i was definitely concerned that it would affect how quickly I got pregnant....buuuttt it didn't (I took out my nuvaring May 25th, got my BFP August 28th.).

My doctor did say that it may slow down my labor (in that it may take me a very long time to progress once I started having contractions) due to scar tissue, but thats about it. I haven't had any issues with an incompetent cervix (apparently my cervix is nice and high and very, very closed)...32 weeks and so far, so good!

I've actually had TWO leeps, and am currently 34 weeks pregnant, with no issues so far. My doctor checked my cervical length by u/s at 9 weeks (for a baseline), and then at 16,18, and 20 weeks to check for weakening or thinning. I don't know about the scar tissue since I haven't actually delivered yet, but he did say they can "manually break it up" (sounds painful) to help me dilate if it keeps me from doing so on my own. I had a LEEP procedure about 2 years ago, and got pregnant on my first try. I am currently 28 weeks and so far all is well! My doctor does have my cervical length checked fairly often, but other than that it seems to be progressing like a normal pregnancy.

They do it by ultrasound, which is fun because you also manage to get a few more peeks at the baby than you would otherwise.

@AlyB25: they check it with the u/s but just an FYI- they may do vaginal u/s instead of abdominal. I had a couple of each, but he said vaginal is more accurate in the beginning when checking cervical length. They don't hurt of anything, just something I wasn't prepared for!
