@LulaBee: Oh, what difficult news!! I hope meeting with the high risk doctor was helpful and at least a bit calming. Are you on progesterone already? My friend delivered preemie twins at 30 wk bc her cervix started shortening at 20wk, so for her next pregnancy they had her do progesterone shots started at week 15.... to you

Welp, I'm on bed rest for a week. The high risk docs saw same thing- my cervix is about a 4, but when they had me push it shortened to a 2.5. So I'm home from work, already bored out of my mind. I can't really comprehend why this is happening... not thinking about it much. Doc said that he's seen women with this condition go on to have full term babies. I'm sure he's seen it go the other way as well, but I'm not allowing myself to think like that. For now, baby is happy and moving and I'm not in labor, so that's all good news. I go back on Monday to get checked again. I'm hoping to avoid bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy but will do what it takes to keep this little babe in. They didn't mention progesterone, maybe it's too late for that? He did say it's too late for a cerclage. Thanks for thinking of me, everyone!

@Lulabee I'm totally lurking on this thread, but just wanted to let you know - I also was put on bedrest for short cervix/funneling/lots of contractions around that same time frame in my pregnancy. My mom had incompetent cervix and delivered my sis at 28 wks so I wonder if it's hereditary. Anyway, I went to the high risk doc every week for cervical ultrasounds and NSTs. He also put me on a medication, Procardia (generic nifedipine) to help stop contractions (I had a LOT of contractions). I went to the hospital to get steroid shots to develop the baby's lungs in case he came early. By 32-33 wks my cervix was down to 0.8 and they basically told me "anytime.""

Anyway, the weeks went by... and I am 39 weeks pregnant today and STILL PREGNANT! (My OB can't believe it) So, I wanted to give you a positive outcome. My high risk doc said a lot of preterm labor/short cervix moms do carry to term but they always take a better safe than sorry approach with the bedrest, monitoring, meds, etc.

You may want to ask about meds and steroid injections if you are far enough along. Hang in there, thinking of you!

Great results for my bloodwork - HCG is 29,000! Progesterone is low end of normal so since I had bleeding they will supplement. US booked for tomorrow AM. What a relief!

@LulaBee: So sorry to hear about the bedrest. I hope it helps and you are showing improvement next week and you can keep baby in for a long time yet. Thinking of you!

@MrsADS: That is crazy! And awesome that you've made it this far. It gives me hope! They did an NST and I'm not having contractions so no medicine for now, but he did mention steriods if I start having contractions. Baby is moving around and doing fine, so hopefully the bed rest does the trick. I can't imagine being on bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy, but my husband keeps telling me that will probably happen. Any bed rest survival tips would be appreciated.
I hope you have a great labor and delivery, any day now!

@Lulabee: Well, sounds like there are some hopeful thigns the high risk doc noted, like no labor right now and the baby doing well. Though I totally understand the desire to get off of bedrest esp. this early on, I hope you can come to peace with whatever is required!

US today showed a healthy baby measuring a day ahead with a great heartbeat. No reason they can see for bleeding, which has not reappeared since Sunday. Feeling encouraged about this pregnancy!

So today we went and looked at our first day care and I have to admit I am so overwhelmed!! I had no problems with the center as far as I could see and for the questions I asked. I think I'm just worried about leaving her anywhere and that is making me question places when there isn't a reason! Ugh! This is one of the tasks I have been dreading the most!

No advice really needed! Just needed to vent! Other than that I will be 25 weeks tomorrow and December is going to be here before I know it!

How's everyone feeling? MS has hit hard which I never thought I'd be happy to see, but managing it with Diclegis and glad of the reassurance that baby is growing. Excited to see some gf for a beach weekend this weekend and spill the beans to them.

@LulaBee: happy to hear all is well despite needing bed rest. I recommending investing in a series on Netflix to pass the time!

@mamabolt: So glad about your ultrasound! MS (or all-damn-day sickness) hit around 6w2d for me and is getting worse. OB gave me Zofran which only helps if I take it religiously every 6hrs even if I feel okay at the hour mark.

Had an ultrasound Friday and both babies are beautiful, with great heartbeats. Then my OB had DH and I come in his office for a chat about twins. He was really encouraging and positive, and really made me feel a lot better about this journey. Now it's going to be a long 4wks til my next appt!

I am not sure if I'll be here very long, but I thought I might get some support here! MC before LO1 at 8w3d, MC back in March at 5w. Newly pregnant. I got a BFP really early, 9dpo evening. I'm 13 dpo now, I went for a beta on Saturday and one today. I'm anxiously awaiting the results!! But now of course I am convinced I am miscarrying because my boobs aren't as sore as they were yesterday... ugh. It's going to be a long wait today to get my results...

Did anyone have "missing" symptoms and everything still worked out?

@mamabolt: Hope your beach weekend was fun! Glad you are getting from relief from the morning sickness!

@Kelli_Deluxe: Yay for great heartbeats! 4 weeks always seems so far away when I make my appointments but it sneaks up really quick! Hope it goes quickly for you!

@sslm: Congrats on the BFP! Fingers crossed for you! I really didn't have any symptoms till 6-7 weeks in. I'm 25 weeks pregnant now and everything is going well!

@sslm: I had very minor symptoms with my DS - really only a couple weeks of manageable nausea/food aversions, and minimal boob pain. Conversely, I had a blighted ovum this past spring and was extremely pukey and tired from the the very beginning. I'm 9 wks into this pregnancy and even sicker, so I'm not sure what to think (we did see a good hb at 7 wks though)! Sometimes symptoms just aren't consistent. I will think good thoughts for you and hope for positive betas!

@sslm: Congrats! FX really hard you get your sticky! I've noticed lessening symptoms around the four week mark. Some stayed for me, like the tiredness and dry mouth, others went away like breast pain.

@sslm: I honestly hate Wondfo's for progressions, they have never been very consistent for me. Try not to stress too much over it (easier said then done!), and hopefully you will get a blood test or other form of confirmation. GL today!

    clementine / 957 posts

@sslm: I hardly got a positive on the wondfos (super super squniter, didn't even tell DH I thought it might be positive). I agree with @auggiefrog that I hate them for progression! best of luck at your appointment!

Anyone experience brown spotting in pregnancy, noticed particularly after activity? Saturday night we went to a football game and I did a lot of climbing/walking; had light brown discharge into Sunday. Yesterday I went to my work out class, then last night started noticing dark brown spotting when I wipe, and this morning when I go to the bathroom. I know brown is "normal" but I'm kind of freaked out

Cautiously joining in. Found out last week at 10dpo and currently waiting to have my second beta drawn. First beta at 13dpo was 102 which seems decent. We had a TFMR in December at 22w for a chromosome problem. It was the most devastating experience ever and I pray so hard this pregnancy turns out better.

@Kelli_Deluxe: how are you doing? I just looked back and saw your post about spotting. I had spotting with DD randomly and everything was fine. I also had bleeding and spotting with our loss but we terminated and the spotting had nothing to do with her problems. Hope all is well with you. I think some ladies are just more prone to bleeding.

@delight: Welcome! My spotting did subside. Had a doctor appointment to be sure everything was okay; he thought I was a combo of my blood thinner and exercise irritating things. I'm off my exercise routine for a couple more weeks until I'm off Lovenox.
So sorry to hear about your prior loss.m102 is a solid number for early on! Hoping for a healthy pregnancy!

Tentatively joining you ladies while I wait for betas... I'm 13 dpo today. 2 past chemicals and one blighted ovum with D&C at 9 weeks. I'm wondering if I'll get to the point where I can just relax and actually enjoy being pregnant?

@delight: I had a beta drawn yesterday at 12 dpo and it was 64. Waiting for tomorrow's results. Did you do another draw yet?

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@My Only Sunshine: good luck to you this pregnancy!

I got my 2nd beta and it was only 306.
    13dpo 102
    17dpo 306

I don't know what to think. I'd like to be hopeful because I think doubling from 48-72 hours is considered normal and I'm at 60 hours. I was hoping for higher numbers. None of this is easy.
