@Sapphiresun: It does; I did recognize it.

I guess what I took issue with (more) is that these sorts of sentiments come from, what I feel, is pretty disordered ideas of eating during pregnancy. That it's basically the only time "us women" will have carte blanche to just eat whatever and not worry about it. I just feel that that whole idea is problematic on many levels. First, isn't in unhealthy to have all these insinuations that pregnancy=gluttony? I know lots of it is "joking," but as with many jokes there is a grounding in reality. I think that it plays into some really unfortunate notions about food and why we eat and when we eat and all that jazz. Personally, I like to eat things that taste good. I also feel that moderation and balance are good. I eat plenty of things that are high sugar or high fat or are otherwise high yummy and I don't feel bad about it. I try to look at my overall health level and make reasonable choices. I also know many women who have a good overall health level but whose bodies don't look like a supermodel's. And some of them have a very heathy self-image, but some of them feel guilty for eating food they enjoy around other people because of the way that people look at or talk to them when they do. Or who feel bad about the way that they look. It's a very complicated issue, and I really shouldn't have jumped in with my blood boiling. I just know that the language we use and the way we use humor has impact and I've been on the wrong side of this sort of humor in my life enough that I snap like a snapping turtle almost out of reflex when I encounter it. I sort of have a feeling that at some point we will become kinder and things like that won't be funny or socially relevant anymore because we'll be over it. At least I hope so.

Holy crap-I am just seeing this after seeing the update thread that the shirts were removed. Good for them for acting quickly, but, "wow" how did these get through enough approvals to make it to market without someone saying something?
