@QueensBee: Gahhh!!! Why won't these babies nap??? And poor Pete with his shiner!!! Xander's not comfortable enough walking to run, but sometimes he does try to walk very fast and it makes me nervous!!!

@Pumuckl: Yikes, I'm sorry you're dealing with that! Health stuff makes me so stressed!

@AprilFool: Awww she looks so cute with her mad/sad tantrum face, and those flipflops in each hand... hahaa!

    @Pumuckl: Oh noooo...

Today was my very last nursing session with J! We were down to just one morning feeding a day. I just decided it on a whim. I woke up, felt my boobs, and they felt very empty... so I just decided right then and there that there was going to be no more nursing starting today. Just fed him some breakfast instead right away and he was fine. It all ended - just.like.that.

@Adira: Is he walking more? Does he like the shoes?
@Mrs. High Heels: Good job Mama for nursing as long as you did!!

I'm pages and pages behind, but I wanted to update...For all the non-nappers- I think we are officially moving to one nap! Even though he is tired at 11, he won't sleep then, so I've been stretching him until noon and then I'm getting a 2+ hour nap, provided he did enough running around in the morning. We're still fine tuning but I'm pretty sure this is our new routine. Of course, we are having some bedtime/overtired issues with early wake ups, but hopefully once he gets used to the one nap, it will work itself out.

In bad news I was dealing with mastitis all last week; I was like- you have got to be kidding me! Pretty sure it's the stress that is killing my immune system right now, but our stuff won't sell/move itself so it is what it is.

And I saved the best for last- I can officially eat dairy again! The last couple of weeks I've been slowly trying more and more things and no reaction!!!!! I had told myself that if Baby Brother was still reacting after a year I would wean, but I'm glad I can just go at his pace now. (Still reacting to soy but I don't care because I can have CHEESE!)

@Adira: glad to hear there's progress on the food front!

@jodyblair: my guy is obsessed with the camelback straw cup, maybe worth a try? otherwise I have no idea...

@AprilFool: love that tantrum picture! currently Baby Brother likes his tantrums flat on the floor...it's hilarious, and he doesn't get why we just laugh and leave him there.

@Pumuckl: oh man, hope he starts getting better soon!

@Mrs. High Heels: wow! good job!

@Baby Boy Mom: Oh no!! I got mastitis just a few weeks ago too when I dropped a feeding. I hope you feel better soon, but YAY for being able to eat cheese and dairy again! That means ice cream too!!

  8. Baby Boy Mom

    pomegranate / 3983 posts

@Mrs. High Heels: Yes much better thank you! Wasn't it weird? I mean I know it was probably because he was teething and not nursing well, but chills at 13 months? ridic. I'm blaming the stress for sure.

  9. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: He pretty much exclusively walks now! Though he still falls over a bunch, haha. And he HATED the shoes. I think he just needs to get used to them!

@Baby Boy Mom: OMG, I can't believe you got mastitis this late in the game!!! That sucks!!! And YAY for dairy!!!! Poor you and @Mrs. High Heels!

@Pumuckl: Oh no! I'm so sorry that you have to worry about this. I'll be thinking of you tonight and tomorrow. I hope you get some good news and an energetic baby in the morning!

@Baby Boy Mom: Eeek, I never would have thought mastitis was possible this late in the game! Glad you're feeling better!

@Baby Boy Mom: Congratulations on bfing for so long! Such an amazing accomplishment!

We got home and nonstop crying for 30 mins. She wouldn't even eat dinner, good thing she had a pouch and half in the car. Finally rocked her, and I guess the Motrin kicked in, and she was asleep by 6! I am scared what time is going to hold. She just woke up cried out and back out. I seriously hate molars

  12. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

Do you give it before daycare, too? Or pack it? Will they give it to her?

  13. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@blackbird: I don't give it before school. She was in a great mood this morning! They won't give it to her. I will give her some in the am if I think she needs it.

  14. Baby Boy Mom

    pomegranate / 3983 posts

@QueensBee: then you'll be horrified to know I have actually been BFing for 34 months...
@Adira: I've taken all this together as my hint that I need to re.lax. (With some wine and cheese of course)

  15. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

@smurfette, aw dang. E's often in a great mood in the morning with me, then goes downhill. They will give Advil or Tylenol if I pack it

@blackbird: I will bring it tomorrow and ask but pretty sure they won't. I could take an early lunch and drive over during her lunch before nap time......

@Baby Boy Mom: Carter actually loves drinking out of my camel back water bottle. It's funny because it seems almost as big as he is

And yay for being able to eat dairy again!! I tried dairy and soy at the end of February and C didn't react! I was sooooo happy and I have definitely made up for lost time with all of my favorite foods.

@jodyblair: Do you leave a cup of water out for him so that he can go to it when he wants? We do this and some days Isaac will drink a lot and other days not so much.

@AprilFool: So much drama in that photo!

@Pumuckl: That is a lot of sleep. Hope he gets another good nights sleep and is feeling better tomorrow.

@QueensBee: Glad you are settling in. It must be so cute to see him try to run.

@Mrs. High Heels: Way to go on making it breastfeeding so long!

@Baby Boy Mom: That is awesome that you can eat dairy again!

@Smurfette: Hopefully she gets a good sleep tonight and those molars just come in already!

We got our first incident report from daycare today. All that happened is Isaac scratched his face under his eye at lunch. I can't really believe that I have to sign and fill in paperwork over a scratch! She was telling me exactly what happened and I was just kind of shocked at the detail. I wouldn't of even batted an eye, he scratches his face all the time at home it seams. But I'm glad they are thorough and report things that happen.

@Baby Boy Mom: I am so grateful to not of experience mastitis! I hope you're feeling better soon.

@Pumuckl: How is B? Keep us updated.

    @Smurfette: Poor R. Teething is a b*tch! Cmon molars!!!!!!

@Mrs. High Heels: I wasn't even going to attempt to take the flip flops from her. Can you imagine?

@ALV91711: Wow that seems like a process! But better they care too much than not enough

  20. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@jodyblair: @ALV91711: Yeah we get those too if she scratches herself with her fingernail. I get it but seems like a lot of paperwork for them to deal with.

Well R slept all night!!! She woke up around midnight, but back to sleep within a min. She woke up around 530 and has been going in and out of sleep since then. I hope I see the stupid molar is out!

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: We don't usually get a report if Xander scratches himself (which he does a lot, especially when he was younger), but any bumps or bruises, we get them.

@Smurfette: So glad to hear that R slept well last night!!! YAY!!!

Ugh girls, my poor baby is sick. He threw up sometime in the middle of the night and the proceeded to sleep in it. Sooooo gross this morning!

  22. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: So gross!! I am not looking forward to that at all. Are you staying home with him today? Hope he feels better!

R wouldn't let me look in her mouth or touch it, so no clue if she got her other bottom molar or not. Fingers crossed she naps today. Her teacher did tell me that now they can't send kids to the infant room if they won't nap. Not enough teachers. So frustrating. And of course the last two days, they have all slept but R hasn't cause of her teeth.
We are going to look at a new day care next Friday. It is 5 mins from the house. I hate to move her and pay $$ money each month but I think the drive is getting to much for her. We would rather her be at school longer playing then in the car and in traffic. Plus there are other reasons that we want to go ahead and move her, job and easy for when we decide on #2.

  23. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: No, haha, I sent him to daycare! He was in such a good mood this morning - standing up in his crib and bouncing and babbling to me. And I took his temperature and it was normal. So I'm not sure if maybe he just ate something that bothered him stomach or what, but we sent him to daycare!

That sucks R still hasn't been able to get any good naps in at daycare (I hear you - Xander got an hour total yesterday) AND those rowdy kids are coming back to her room! How much more will the new daycare be if you move her? I know you said the one you're at currently is ALREADY pretty expensive (more than the average cost of college)! But I do think her being close to home will probably be better. Then she'll be a lot less likely to fall asleep on the ride home and stuff!

  24. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: $400 more a month, $1520 a month......which is the cheapest for an education based program in our area. The Goddard School (where she goes now) is $1650 a month! We pay $1130 now.

  25. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Wow!!! So expensive!!! We only pay $953 a month! BUT it's definitely not the NICEST daycare in our area. The really nice one would've cost around $1625 a month! So now I have an idea of the kind of education R's getting, haha.

  26. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: and now you know another reason why #2 isn't happening right now! This new center R's rate won't go down as she moves up. They stay with the same teacher till preschool.
We were paying $1210 in the infant room. There is another school down the road but I don't like the location and I know they aren't the best. And since this first years are so important, we are just biting the bullet and paying more so she gets an education and doesn't just play. This new place does pay for wipes, snacks, and lunch, so we will save money on those.

  27. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah, I guess if my daycare was that expensive, we probably wouldn't be able to afford #2 either! Although #2 gets a $10/week discount, haha. So we'll save $520 a year!

  28. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: That is good. Where she is now, it 10% off a month the lowest price room. So that would be $100 a month, would be nice. Not sure about the new place. But two kids are going to be $3000 a month, nuts!

  29. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Ugh, soooo expensive! No wonder some people just decide to stay home or be one and done!

  31. Mrs. High Heels

    blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts

@Smurfette: glad to hear R slept through the night for you! Hope she gets in some better naps today. That sucks that they haven't been able to find a better solution to the disruptive parents. Crossing my fingers for you that a new daycare will be better for all of you!

@Smurfette: @Adira: I'm sending J to daycare in June, so he'll be 16 months by then. I'm worried about what naps will be like for him! We lucked out in the daycare we are currently at because they were a brand new facility that just opened when we switched N, and agreed to price match the cost of our previous daycare, which was considered really inexpensive for this area ($800/month), and we set that rate for both our kids.

  32. Mrs. High Heels

    blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts

@ALV91711: that's good that they are being so diligent, even for an eye scratch! I'm sure some parents get more worried than others even for minor things like that, and for them, they want to protect themselves and not deal with any possible liabilities. You never know when it comes to kids/parents!

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. High Heels: That's awesome that you were able to get such a good price for that new daycare!!! Jealous!

  34. Mrs. High Heels

    blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts

@Smurfette: most daycares in our city start at $1400/month, so we have N in a school the next city over. I still can't get over how little support or subsidies there are for daycares/preschools... at the same time I feel bad for the teachers too because they're so underpaid for what they do.

  35. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

@Smurfette, I think it'll be worth it for the lesser drive. We could have a longer drive but a cheaper daycare, and right now we are closer to home and it is just so nice and convenient.

  36. Mrs. High Heels

    blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts

@Smurfette: having the new daycare provide lunch and snacks will be huge too! seems minor, but not having to prep for those saves us so much time, and every minute counts these days!

speaking of time, eliminating the morning nursing session shaved 30 minutes off our getting ready time this morning. we were out of the house in record time!

  37. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Mrs. High Heels: Great deal!! So jealous. I agree their should be more support. I know there are many parents out there that would rather work but can't afford to day care. My Aunt was one, it would cost her more then her paycheck to have the girls in day care, so she had to stay home, even though it wasn't what she wanted. Granted that was 20 years ago.
    But teachers are SO underpaid.
@blackbird: I agree. It will be nice for me to have time by myself in the car as well. Instead of singing and talking to her for 30-45 mins.

  38. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Mrs. High Heels: Well we buy the school lunch now (which it is provided by the same company) but it will save us cash!

@Baby Boy Mom: Horrified? No. Impressed? Yes! Way to go, that's amazing!

@Mrs. High Heels: Yes, you will have so much more time now! And that's such a good price for daycare! You really lucked out!

@Smurfette: Ugh, our daycare is expensive too - $1500 for 3/days a week. My parents watch him the other two days a week which definitely saves us a lot. I'm not sure how we're going to work it with number #2. I'm hoping DH will get a big raise before then! Once all kids are off to school in many years, I feel like we will be living large!

@Smurfette: This molars are KILLING ME! Lil B woke up last night a couple times. First time I went in and check his temp and gave him some Tylenol (he has had a fever for a few days- but I think its because he is getting cold) the second time I went in there was a bloody spot on his crib sheet from his mouth- I checked his mouth and the damn molar coming in was bleeding. So I stayed up with him for a couple hours to make sure he was ok- I gave him a bottle (because we STILL haven't transitioned yet.... oye) and he fell back asleep!

My daycare is super cheap (he only goes 3 days a week) and its an inhome daycare. We pay $40.00 a day - so $120.00 a week. Its crazy cheap- and compared to the centers by us we were looking at over DOUBLE that. I am thankful that we have the place he goes now.
