@Pumuckl: wow! thats a lot of teeth! did the molars come all at once?
T has 9 now, 4 up, 4 down, and her bottom right front molar.
After one night of great sleep (only one wake up) she was up last night at 12:30, 2:30, 4:30 and then up for the day at 5:45. My husband let me sleep in a bit, so I'm not dying right now, but oy! Who knows what her problem was. We suspect she could have been thirsty from having a salty dinner, or maybe another tooth is lurking somewhere....I'm going to my parents this weekend, and we're going to start to night wean next week when we get back. I'm dreading it already. I think they plan will be for my husband to just keep going in to soothe her, after letting her CIO for 20 minutes or so. We have a video monitor on the way, so hopefully that will help me feel less anxious about it.
On the up side, all of this newborn frequency nursing has dropped me down another 2 lbs, so I'm down below my driver's license weight! I guess thats good news, but at this point I'd take the lbs if they came with some more energy and more sleep.
Anyone have exciting plans for the summer? I'm hoping to play at least a few games with my old women's league soccer team, and T and I are going to Maine with my parents for a week in July. My husband doesn't have any vacation time this summer, so other than that we'll do some hiking, spend time at the beach and in the garden!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Silva: Yikes! So sorry for all the wakeups!!! Hopefully the night weaning goes well and you'll soon not have to get up all the time! I do find having a video monitor soooooo helpful because when Xander's crying, I can just look at him and make sure he's okay without going in there an upsetting him further!
The only plans we really have this summer are going to visit our extended family over the 4th of July. I'm excited about that because Xander will FINALLY meet my grandparents! Plus I'll get to see cousins and aunts and uncles I haven't seen in over a year! Other than that, I really just want to go visit my SMIL and FIL more often since they live on a lake! I want to go swimming!!!
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Silva: No luckily they didn't. There was always a little break. It was the bottom two first and then the top two. Sorry about the night wakings. Last week we had the salty dinner issue and B was so thirsty he drank close to 20oz of water after he went to bed. I had to go refill his sippy cup. It took me awhile to figure out what the problem was though.
No not really exciting plans for summer. We'll probably be heading over the Atlantic in September to take a vacation in the States but other than that it'll just be weekend trips to visit friends and go to weddings.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Silva: rough night. I hope tonight is better. GL weaning!! You can do this. I agree the video monitor is key, there are nights and we think R went to sleep right away like a good girl. Nope rolling around in silence.
R starts swim lessons every Sat in June and July. So we will be home every weekend for that. I imagine in Aug we will have to head down to visit the IL's (annoying they make no effort but expect us too). Then in Sept we are going to Hilton Head for the week. Had to wait so we could use points so we don't have to pay for it. We invited my parents to come with. So hopefully there is a big closet to stash the PnP since my parents are taking the 2nd bedroom in the condo.

@Smurfette: or the bathroom! Sharing a room with T is terrible now. I can't believe only a few months ago she had to be touching me to sleep, and now if she's in the same room she wakes up every half hour.
Where do your in laws live? Your September vacation sounds nice.
We have two weddings in October that we have to fly for- one near Philly, and one in North Carolina. Not sure if we are going to the NC one yet. I think we will leave T with my parents for both weddings (if we go). I haaaaate flying- not the actual flying part, but the stress of packing/getting there/carrying everything around....I just haven't done it enough to feel relaxed during the whole process. Also, $$$$$$$!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Silva: The bathroom would work, except I get up 2-3 times a night to pee! We will have to wait and see.
They live in South GA, so about 4 hours, so 5 min, with R. And we have to take a day off work to go for the weekend. I don't want to drive at night with her. Cause then we get there and I know she would wake up.
Leaving T with your parents is a great idea. We have a wedding in Oct but in the IL's home town, But I kind of want to leave R with my parents and just do a quick Sat to Sun trip.

@Adira: Pete has the exact same teeth situation as Xander!
@Silva: Good luck with the night weaning! Let us know how it goes!!
We are mostly staying local this summer. We're spending one week in July in Vermont and then a week in August at my family's lakehouse in Pennsylvania. We also have a few scattered weddings. And then we are flying to Napa/Sonoma for Labor Day weekend to celebrate DH's sister's 40th birthday. I've always wanted to go to Napa but it's going to be a super quick trip and I don't know how we are going to pay for it.
I'm actually feeling a little bummed this week re:travel. My very very close friend is getting married in Scotland on Saturday. All of our childless friends are flying over there this week and posting their photos on IG. It's going to be so much fun for them and I wish I could be there to celebrate too! We considered making the trip, but once we bought the house we knew we couldn't do it. I know that made the responsible decision but right now I really wish we were there!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@QueensBee: That would be so hard to miss it! But you did the responsible thing.
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@QueensBee: sounds like a fun summer! Where in VT are you going (that's where I live!)? I hear you on not being able to afford trips anymore. I'm sure your friend understands- what a fun place to get married, but that's a pricy trip!
We really want to go to the NC one...but it's such an expensive, whirlwind trip. They came to ours, and I love them.....but yikes. The Philly one is kind of non negotiable, so to have to drop probably close to 1000.00 for each wedding is terrifying. We can pay out of our down deposit savings, but I hate dipping into that.

@Silva, DH And I play on a work softball league every Tuesday We're also planning to paint our kitchen cabinets white and I'm in the process of booking a trip to Mexico in July!
@queensbee, omg, Scotland! That sounds amazing. Le sigh for you.
Our 5th wedding anniversary is in less than a month! I'm waiting for DH to figure out what he wants to do (i emailed him a few options). I'm really looking forward to a night away. I'm feeling pretty burnt out lately, like I can't catch up and feel relaxed. And he starts a summer grad school class Fri/Sat for a few weeks. I'm taking E to the mall on Saturday for some retail therapy and hit up some memorial day sales

@blackbird: Let me know how the painting goes. I want to do ours, but it seems so over whelming and time consuming.

@Silva: You live there?! My parents have a place in Quechee, which is near Woodstock and Killington on Route 4, so that's where we always go. Where are you located? We love it up there so much, it's where we got married!
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@QueensBee: Woodstock is so beautiful! We live near Burlington right now, but we both grew up in VT too (me in the northeast, him more central). We each left for awhile in our early twenties, but came back and met here. Its the best place to live, in my opinion
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@QueensBee: @Silva: VT is where I'm going to visit my grandparents! Both my parents were born and raised in Vermont! We're going to be in Stowe when we're there.
@blackbird: Happy early Anniversary!!! Our 5 year is coming up in October and we have no idea what we're doing. We would've loved to do some fabulous trip, but I'll be pretty pregnant at that point, so I don't think we'll do anything too big.
pear / 1718 posts
@Silva: It seems like such a great place to live! The farmer's markets, the outdoor activities, the bucolic farms, the clean air. Ahhhhh, we'd totally live there if we could!
@Adira: Stowe is so gorgeous! Ya'll are making me excited for summer!
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@Adira: Wow! How funny that there are so many Vermont connections here! I love the Stowe/Morrisville area, it is near where I grew up and is one of the places my husband is looking at for a job.

Holy smokes, ladies! Xander took a THREE HOUR nap today!!!!! From 1:00 to 4:00. I wonder if taking the nap later in the day is the reason. Usually he naps from 10:30 to 12:00.

Just catching up its been stressful at work lately and so tired. I have a week's vacation coming up in July when my parents can take care of LO. It will be just DH and me on cross country trip. Looking forward to it
@Silva: so sorry about the rough night. I guess tylenol or motrin is not helping? hope you are having better luck tonite.
@QueensBee: I love travel and would be disappointed as well. I usually get over it when I have some other exciting time Your summer trips sound fun!! I lived for sometime in northern CA and loved Sonoma and just that whole part of the country.
@blackbird: Yay happy early anniversary and have fun planning!!
@Adira: Sounds heavenly!! I wish J would take nice nap on weekend so I can also enjoy it!

@Adira: What a nap! Yesterday Isaac did 2.75 hours at dayare. He has 8 teeth.
@Silva: Sorry for the crappy sleep, I feel for you. Isaac has been having a terrible time lately. Him and I are going for a week in June to my mom's and visiting my sister and her new babe and some other family. I'm hoping to work on night weening when we get back and then weening completely at the end of the summer. I hope your night weening works out well. The bummer is that he was night weened for about 3 weeks and then he started daycare and it went down hill from there.
@blackbird: Planning an anniversary trip sounds like fun!
@silver1: That will be so nice to get away with just your DH.
@QueensBee: That sucks about not being able to go to the wedding, but in the long run a house is better.
@Smurfette: I hope you have fun playing at the new daycare tomorrow.
My MIL is coming for the weekend, DH is just out getting her from the airport. Tomorrow him and Isaac are staying home with her. I'm hoping Isaac does good since he hasn't seen his Grandma since September and is iffy around new people. And he has never been at home all day without me. It will be nice to be able to go straight to work and back without stopping at daycare though.
We've had no more steps since last week, but he is standing for a lot longer at a time. He's done some pivoting and is so happy when he is standing on his own. His teacher even took pictures today to show me when I picked him up.

@ALV91711: I bet he will be off soon- its fascinating to me how differently babies learn new skills. T was trying to walk months before she could- she'd just push herself off of something and stumble forward. As soon as she took real steps, she basically stopped crawling all together. Other babies in her class are more cautious- they really waited until they knew they could do it perfectly. One of them started running only a few weeks after walking- she was obviously just waiting until she knew she had it figured out!

@Adira: wow! 1030 does seem early for one nap. R's is 1130 right now at day care and it seems early to me. It will be 1230 at the new one. So I am hoping we can push back bedtime so we can actually play together. She has been going to bed so early so have had no time this week together. But she is sleeping good, 11 hours.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@silver1: a whole week! That is awesome.
@ALV91711: When R first took her a step, it was a week or so before she did it again. He will be all over the place before you know it. I am sure he is going to have a blast with grandma!

@Silva, NINE TEETH HOLY SHIT.
@Smurfette, i will! We're going to use the Rustoleum Cabinet Transformations and I'm using a better branded clear coat polyurethane on to to seal it in. I wish I could just get some from work, heh.
@adira, silver1, &alv, thanks!!! We decided to stay at a fancy hotel, do a local dinner, and hit up a wine tasting place.

@Adira: What a nap! Hopefully it wasn't just a fluke. Was he in a better mood in the evening?
@ALV91711: Although B is always very social and seldom shy around other people, I have noticed that he often seems to notice how our realtionship with the other person is. So when we feel comfortable around them and i.e. hug our mums etc. he is even less shy.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@pumuckl, I definitely think they can sense that sort of stuff!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Pumuckl: He was in a pretty good mood! Although he was still fussy at dinner - I'm guessing because I keep trying to force finger foods on him, haha. And then he was actually a little fussy in the bath, which was weird. But besides that, he was a lot of fun!
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Adira: Yay, sounds like a good day then! I wish B would sleep even longer at daycare. It has gotten a lot better but he still soooo tired in the evenings.
We had a pretty bad night again. B was up at around midnight (and for once I had gone to bed earlier) and then needed to be held for nearly an hour. In the end I put him in his crib and let him cry. I was sooooo tired I was going to fall asleep in the chair in his room. Then he was up at 5:15am again. Luckily it seems to have become his habit that he just nurses and then falls asleep in my bed for the few hours until we have to get up. I had to wake him at 8:30am so we still could make it to daycare before the 9am cut-off time.

@Adira: Wow, that's incredible!! I hope it's a trend and he does it again over the weekend for you!
@silver1: Sounds like you have a fun adventure planned this July! Definitely start your countdown now... summer is almost here! Hope you get some rest soon.
@ALV91711: He'll definitely be walking in no time! How did the reintroduction to Grandma go last night?

@blackbird: I'm so jealous of your Mexico trip. I love me some Mexico. Where are you guys going?
Holy teeth, y'all!!! I can't believe there are so many pearly whites in your kids mouths! We're STILL at 6...where we've been for months regardless of every teething sign imaginable for a few weeks after they turned one. They're such late teethers that it makes me laugh now to remember at 3 months that we totally thought they were teething and were just "early teethers." Classic first parent move.
@Smurfette: Hope the new daycare is great!
Our daycare teacher told us this morning, that our boys are moving up to the next class a week from Monday. I might have actually teared up. I actually think it's the best move for them, but their lead daycare teacher is like family at this point. She's taken care of them since they were 3 months old, and she's just the most loving, fun person. They light up when they see her, and she's even offered to take off work to stay home with them when they were sick and we were having a hard time arranging our schedules. Basically, I'm pretty sure she's solely responsible for all four of us surviving the last year. Now, that my sobfest is over, I do think it will be good for them because they are by far the oldest kids in the class now. The next one is 2 months younger and after that they're all like 5-8 months younger. I know it will be good for them to be with their old buddies that have moved up and to see bigger kids doing new things that they can imitate. I'm also hoping it might help their language development. The only things I'm nervous about is going to one scheduled nap every day (they're terrible at daycare naps and I'm afraid the result will just be no nap at all) and I'm a little worried that there will just be a lot of transition since they'll be moving to the new class at the beginning of June and then we'll be moving cities and leaving daycare at the beginning of August.
Wow, that turned into a novela. My bad, peeps.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
R did great at the new day care. I was in the room or outside with her the whole time but she started playing right away. So I feel a lot better. Hopefully she will be ok in a week when I have to leave her there. The teachers were really nice and great with the kids.
pear / 1718 posts
@Smurfette: Great to hear that! You must feel good that everything is in place for a smooth transition!
@Mrs. Blue: Wow, your daycare teacher really does sound exceptional! I hope their transition is a smooth one. They will probably gain a lot from being with the older kids once they feel settled. I know how you feel re:too many switches. We moved, switched Pete to new daycare, and now I think we'll probably switch again for September. I think/hope they're pretty resilient at this age!

@mrs. blue, we're going to stay at the Grand Palladium Colonial. Shutterbug is there right now so I can't wait to hear back from her on it!
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Smurfette: yay what a great update. She'll probably be class president in no time again
@Mrs. Blue: sorry about loosing your favorite teacher. I'm sure your boys will do great with the new room. Maybe only doing one nap will give them a longer overall sleep time during the day?
@ALV91711: how did Isaac do with meeting grandma?
@blackbird: your upcoming trip sounds amazing. We seem to not get our act together this year. We have so many long weekends coming up and we only managed to plan one.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Pumuckl: Awww, sorry to hear about your brutal night! That's awesome though that he falls back to sleep after nursing in the morning. By the end of our nursing journey, Xander wouldn't fall back asleep and so he'd just be up at 5:30!
@Mrs. Blue: YAY! Glad to hear you guys are at 6 teeth too! Xander's not alone in being a late teether!! And I can totally understand you being emotional about them moving to the next room!!! I would be too! Xander technically just moved to Infant 2 (from Infant 1), but it's all in the same room with the same teachers, so it was an easy transition. I'm nervous about when he moves to the Toddler room.
@Smurfette: Glad to hear the time spent at the new daycare went well!!! How long were you guys there?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: little over an hour.
@Mrs. Blue: aww! It is always hard to leave a good teacher. I hated leaving her teacher in the infant room. But I love her toddler teacher now too. Sad about leaving them!! I know I am going to cry!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: That will be nice to have some play time in the evening. Glad that playing at the new daycare went good.
@blackbird: That will be a fun night out!
@Adira: How are the finger foods going?
@Pumuckl: Hopefully tonight goes better for you.
@QueensBee: @Pumuckl: She didn't get here until after he was in bed, so this morning he woke up to her here. It was pretty good. He just stared her down for a while. Then just before I left for work DH, Grandma and Isaac were playing. It sounds like they had a fun day.
@Mrs. Blue: That is going to be good for them to be with the bigger kids. I hope that the transition goes smoothly for both of them. Your teacher sound amazing.
We had a pretty rough night last night, lots of screaming in the middle of the night and we don't know why. I'm hoping for some better sleep tonight. We are putting Isaac to bed and then I'm taking MIL shopping to buy Isaac a slide for the yard.

I have been so bad about keeping up with this thread! It's nice to know that C isn't the only one dealing with crappy night time sleep and naps due to teething. He's been working on two more bottom teeth for a couple of weeks now and it has been rough with fevers and SO. MUCH. DROOL. I'm ready for these teeth to come through and to have my baby back!
He is also finally walking while holding onto our fingers or pushing his walker. I think it will be a little while longer before he's taking steps independently though.
@Smurfette: We'll be in Hilton Head in September too! It's such a nice time of year to go.
Have y'all taken any of the babies swimming yet? I took C to our neighborhood pool today and he wasn't a fan. The water was really cold and he wasn't feeling well from his teeth, so he just was not in the mood. He starts swim lessons in June so hopefully that will help. I plan on spending a lot of time at the pool this summer!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@jodyblair: When are y'all going? We are there the week of the 15th. Not this season. She was ok with it last summed. We start lessons on the 7th!
