@Smurfette: I can't remember what Xander's heartbeat was at this stage! I'll have to go back to our old thread and look! I want to say that 171 is higher though. I only remember Xanders being in the 150s and 160s.

So glad they figured out who the biter was! Hopefully they'll keep an eye on him so he can't do it again!

@silva, we just moved away from the sleep sacks because E outgrew her 12 month ones! If she doesn't need it, it's really so much easier to just plop them down. Usually just a pajama shirt and a diaper now that it's been warming up. And the video camera is so helpful for seeing what's going on in there. I've had to move some legs more than once! Or rescue a certain jellycat giraffe who walks the plank too often.

@adira, so exciting! When are they seeing you again?

    Happy Friday!

@blackbird: oh, T likes to toss her friends overboard, too. I admit the blanket/PJ thing is my own issue. I can't sleep naked or without something covering me. I should probably stop projecting my own neurosis now, while they are insignificant.

Hopefully cheaping out in the video monitor doesn't bite me later on

@silva, I can't either, but baby don't curr. I figure if she wanted to keep her socks on, she wouldn't take them off and chuck them. And if she was uncomfortable, she would cry and let me know (ONCE...she cried out in the middle of the night, her room got gold, I dressed her, and she happily fell back asleep. So they do let you know!)

@Silva: We ditched the sleep sacks cause I didn't want to buy more in the next size. So much easier just putting her in the crib for naps and nite nite without it. We cover R with a blanket, but she rolls around, sits up, stands up, etc when going to sleep. We usually go back in her room before we go to bed and cover her up again.

@blackbird: I'm not sure yet! I'm trying to get it scheduled, but the OB's office is all confused at the moment, haha. I'm hoping to schedule it for June 6th though since I have that day off.

@Adira: When are you announcing? Did you get Xander a Big Bro shirt?

We finally signed up R for swim lessons. Starts June 7th, and is every Sat for 8 weeks. I hope she likes it.

Also DH and I talked last night and agreed on tabling TTC until late fall/early winter...........I just can't even imagine to solo parent two yet.

And I called the new day care, we are going next Friday since her current is closed. Let her see the school, classroom, and teachers. Will let her play for a little with me there. I am a little bummed, they open at 715 so I will have to be there right when they open and her teachers aren't there that early. The director said there is one to cover 4-5 at 715, since most kids get there at 8/830. Great my kid is going to be the first dropped off and not picked up till 515 every day. Fail!

@Smurfette: We're probably going to announced right around 14 weeks. Although we're seeing all our family on Memorial Day weekend, so I might not be able to wait! And yes, I got the elephant Big Bro shirt!

Where did you sign up R for swimming lessons? I want to do that!

And try not to worry about the fact R will be at the daycare all day. She'll still enjoy it so much more than being in the car!!!!! Xander is often one of the first and last to be dropped and picked up too and he doesn't seem to mind!

  10. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Just do it over Memorial Day! Then you don't feel like you have to suck in your tummy all day while swimming.
It is a local swim place. A friend told me about it. The one location was booked up. Luckily this one had two spots left. They were $134 and some we found online for $400 and up. Crazy!!
I hope so. I hate that she is there so long.

@Smurfette: Ugh, good point, especially since I already look like 20 weeks pregnant!!! Damn second pregnancy!

I should look into swimming lessons. I wonder if our Y does them for toddlers. And how expensive they are...

  12. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: The class we signed up for is 6-17 months. Hopefully R isn't the oldest. I just hope she loves it. I already told DH he will be getting in the water with her and I will take pics!

@Silva: I love your ped's tip on reading the same book over and over. We started doing that yesterday (with Brown Bear as well). I hope it helps!!

@Adira: What a cutie!!!! I can't believe you are almost ready to announce. Other people's pregnancies do fly by! Sorry to hear about Xander's ear infections. Ouch.

@Smurfette: It sounds like R really thrives at daycare so I hope you won't feel too guilty that her days are slightly longer. I agree with @adira that it's better than time spent in the car. You send her to a high quality educational daycare and she's a well adjusted, happy happy toddler. You are definitely doing something right!

@ALV91711: How exciting that he is starting to walk!!!! The measles outbreak sounds scary. Hopefully the vaccinations will do their jobs and you will be measles-free in 21 days. Thank goodness for modern medicine.

So I've been home sick for the second half of the week. Thank goodness my parents were around to help out because I could not have taken care of sick baby by myself. I was so achy and feverish yesterday that I could barely open my eyes and get out of bed. I feel like a new woman today, now that the fever broke, but still not well enough to put on real clothes and go outside. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be back at 90%. I feel so guilty missing almost a whole week of work!

@blackbird: @Smurfette: do your girls' arms feel cool? I think it was just because she kept getting sweaty, and then cooling off, but her arms and legs and forehead felt so cool to me. I just didn't know what to do. I guess their core is a better indicator of how warm they are....but aren't her legs cold without a blanket?

Sometimes parenting makes me feel like a complete and total idiot. Like I just can't figure out the simplest things. Dressing my kid for warm weather is one of those things. I swear I'm really a smart and capable person.

  17. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Silva: R seems fine to me. She can sleep in long sleeves and pants, short sleeves and pants, or short sleeves and shorts and she feels the same to me. I think her room gets cooler at night verses our room on the other side of the house.

@Adira: ahhh, so looking forward to my own u/s on Monday! It looks so much like a baby already. Oh no on the ear infection. Hope he gets a break sometime soon.

@Smurfette: I'm sure R will do just fine. Like @QueensBee said, she'll enjoy the longer playtime so much more than the commute. Glad they found the biter. Hope they get it handled better than the issue with the non-nappers.

@QueensBee: oh no about being sick. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Swim lessons are great. B has really enjoyed his. He started around 3m and his been doing them since. For us its a daddy's activity. They really enjoy that bonding time.

@Silva: I feel like that all the time. This baby stuff is hard. Also I am one paranoid mama when it comes to B being cold at night. He is still in a sleep sack. This usually spares us the stuck legs as well so we'll be keeping him in the sleep sack a little longer.

  19. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I just found out our Y DOES offer toddler classes (6 - 18 months), but it started already!!!! I should ask Hubs if he would be interested in doing it at all and see if we can start late.

@QueensBee: I hear you on missing work! I was really sick Tuesday and Wednesday and stayed home. Then I only worked half the day on Thursday because of a doctor's appointment. And THEN Xander caught my cold and got a double ear infection so I stayed home AGAIN today!! I feel so guilty!!!

@Silva: I read somewhere that you should check the back of the neck to determine if your LO is hot/cold! Xander's hands and feet ALWAYS feel chilly to me, especially his hands because he's constantly drooling on them! Plus Xander goes to bed in just a thin sleeper or shirt and pants and he's totally fine, while I've always got multiple blankets on!!

  20. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Silva: I'm not looking forward to those warm nights, I never know what to put him in to sleep when it is really warm/cold.

@Smurfette: I'm glad they know who the biter is. I wouldn't worry about the longish day at daycare, she'll be having so much fun and it will be way better than having her in the car, especially when it is hot. Isaac is the first baby there and one of the last to leave every day. I think he likes all the attention he gets in the mornings since they are all in one room for the first hour or so and the big kids love to play with him.

@Adira: High heart rate means girl! I think I'd announce on the long weekend just so you don't have to hide it. Plus I don't think I could wait that long!

@Smurfette: That is so expensive for swim lessons. I was just looking into them the other day and here they are $50-$65, depending on how many weeks (usually 6-8). Looks like we'll have to wait for the fall though since in the summer they all seem to be during the weekdays.

@QueensBee: I hope your feeling better this weekend. It is nice that you had some help while you were sick, it is so hard taking care of a baby and not feeling good.

I need some new snack ideas for daycare. He gets lots of fruits, veggies, proteins but the teacher today asked if I could send a salty or crunchy snack like goldfish or cookies. She said that when Isaac sees the other kids having these things he really wants them and won't eat his own food. I don't mind sending goldfish some days, but it would be nice to have a couple different options.

Gah, this thread moves at lightening speed!

I can't say I'm glad that so many others are worried about their LO's speech, but it's comforting to know I'm not alone. LO is definitely trying to imitate some of our sounds - his favorite thing to try to say is "Hi Dad!," which is just about the cutest thing ever. But no real, consistent words. My biggest bummer is that he seems to have the hardest time with mama! Pointing at me, saying it, even just babbling it... womp womp, the thanks I get for all my hard work, haha.

He has been SO sick with a cold the past few days - 3 nights ago was the worst ever, including the newborn phase. He was up at 2:45, 3:45, 4:30, and 5-6 AM. Thankfully DH took that last shift and slept on the floor in his nursery, I was at my wit's end. It made me a little more nervous about having a newborn and a toddler. Oh well, no turning back now

@Silva: We have the BabyOptics video monitor. It's kind of a grainy picture, but I just wanted something to give me a glimpse of what was going on, I didn't need high-def! It's solid and has pretty good battery life. A good monitor for the money, I think.

@Adira: LO is in the "Inia/Perch" swim class at the Y, and it's a lot of fun! He is the youngest one in the class by a few months (it goes through 24 months, and I'd say most of the babes are 18-22) but we have a good time. It's very affordable too, at least in our area. Just $50 for 8 weeks!

@ALV91711: I'd LOVE to round out our family with a girl!! But I'm going to try to just assume another boy so I don't have too much gender disappointment, haha.

Xander loves graham crackers, Ritz, vanilla wafers, Cheerios, Chex, toast, english muffins, etc.

So Xander is JUST starting to run! He'll run a few feet and then fall over from the momentum, haha. And we also forced him to wear his shoes for about 20 minutes and he seemed to be getting used to them, so yay progress!

Also... does anyone else's toddler think they are HILARIOUS when they are being stern??? Whenever I tell Xander no or give him the "look", he just laughs at me! And I put him in time out for the first time yesterday and he cried the whole time.

  28. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: oh yeah, she thinks is it hilarious when I tell her no about something. Then DH laughing at her laughing doesn't help either.

We had a rough weekend. R woke up Sat with a fever, so we cancelled our play date. I think it was due to teething. Seriously, these damn molars. What a month later, these top molars aren't full in yet. She was up about 6-7 times Sat night. Then last night, had a poppy diaper, and then woke back up and I had to give her Motrin. So she is exhausted and I had to wake her up. I hate that. Her day care is closed on Friday, so I am on the countdown till the 4 day weekend!

  29. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Okay, at least Xander's not the only one! And I hear you about the laughing! I sometimes can't keep it together myself!!

So sorry to hear about your rough weekend!!!! Waking up 6-7 times must've been ROUGH! That's like newborn territory! I really hope maybe it means those molars are just about through so that she can get a break! And YAY for 4 day weekend!!!

  30. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: She did put herself back to sleep each time, but still woke me up and then I couldn't get back to sleep. I think I got maybe 3 hours of sleep last night cause I couldn't sleep, then she woke me up, and then I couldn't get back to sleep.

@Adira: @Smurfette: B gets the biggest grin on his face whenever we say 'no' and he looks back at us. He then proceeds to throw a tantrum when he still does whatever he was not supposed to do and we remove him from the scence...

@Smurfette: @blackbird: Wow, so this time it's the girls being sick Hope both R and E are better soon!

@Smurfette: And hope you have lots of diet coke on hand (If I remember correctly it was you that didn't like coffee...)

    @keepcalmcarrie: How's J doing today?

B got up at 4:20am today. Luckily after a quick nursing session and some wiggling through our bed he proceeded to sleep on me (uff) for the next 1.5h, so he wasn't up for the day until 6:50. Also had my first appointment with LO#2 today and I'm measuring right on track. But this whole 2 under 2 (and solo on weekdays) has just gotten a lot more real...

  35. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Pumuckl: Yep! I grabbed an extra one before I left the house. I pack it the night before. Glad that he went back to sleep for you. I didn't know you were solo all week. You will have to let me know how it goes. Cause I am scared shitless at the thought.

  36. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@Smurfette: I sure will but if I remember your timing plans correctly you'll hopefully be all KU by the time I have #2 in January But yeah, it's just me and B during the week. DH just took over his dad's company and unfortunately that's a good 250mi from where we currently live. He usually is gone Mondays through Thursdays. Even more astonishing that getting KU worked out so fast

@Pumuckl: Well I am thinking now starting in Dec so maybe we can catch the big O over the holidays when DH is home. Other wise like you we have to hope to catch it over the weekend.

How many naps are your LOs on now? I think Xander might officially be on one (unless sick). He's been doing one nap at daycare for a while now, but this weekend, he refused his afternoon nap for me too, so I think we might officially be on one. I just wish it was LONGER...

  39. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: She does one at day care but lately still takes 2 at home but she hasn't been herself the last month, so I think that is why.

I just took R to the doctor. No ear infection, guess she has something viral. She has diarrhea 3 times today. She is so red and screaming during her diaper changes. Poor girl.

  40. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@Adira: yeah, looks like we're officially down to one as well. Sometimes there's still a second nap happening in the stroller or carseat but not in bed.
