@Adira: Yeah B is the same way- He will probably be hiding behind my legs or something! I still need to make mylsef a Halloween costume to go with B's!

Any ideas what I should be? Bradley is going as a dinosaur!

Did I miss what everyone else's LO's are going as?

  2. Adira

@cheert16: Oh, I totally will not be dressed up to match Xander, haha! I have a witch hat and I'll probably just wear that.

Xander's either being a lion or a lizard because we have hand-me-down costumes from my SIL!

  3. Smurfette

@cheert16: R will probably just follow the neighbor kids, so she will do what they do. She is obsessed with the girl next door, which is good cause we love the parents!
R is going to be a butterfly. Not sure what at daycare, teachers do the costumes. I am not dressing up at home.

  4. cheert16

    nectarine / 2631 posts

@Smurfette: I have a few costumes for work ( I dress up the whole week before- because the kids love it!) but they are small like cat ears, etc.
Maybe I don't need to dress up at home too! I can just go as Bradley's Mom!

Gahhh, I miss my baby who used to LIKE going to bed at night!! Just had to deal with him screaming all through brushing teeth, diaper change, pjs, story, and then he was standing in his crib screaming at me when I left the room!

@QueensBee: The doc said 2yr appt will likely be even worse! I saw doctor play kit at b&n and thinking to get one for christmas. Maybe I can help him play and get used to it.
@cheert16: No way J can say it! He still babbles a lot with a word here and there. Maybe you can dress up as dino's prey? A tree or if if hez t-rex then perhaps a rodent? J is going to be a medieval king and most likely DH will be doing trick or treating with LO. Not sure yet what hez doing but I will probably just wear a venetian mask.
On that note DH has really stepped up with taking care of LO and he does most of bedtime routine nowadays. That has helped me better sooner.
@Adira: omg thatz so rough Hopefully hez asleep now. Whatz up with all the toddlers here not sleeping at night!!
J has been sleeping fine so far but im dreading this regression. Maybe it won't happen and I will be happy to miss this one.

@Adira: hopefully he is getting it out of his system before the new baby comes.
@silver1: my parents got R a doctor kit for Christmas. I think she will love it!

@Adira: same here!!! My poor DH does bedtime since I am at work- and I am starting to feel bad!

@Adira: @cheert16: ugh, this is brand new for us the past two nights - J is absolutely hysterical when I leave the room, and just sobs and says "mama, mama" until I come back in. I had to go back in five times last night, just twice tonight - but it breaks my heart! He's okay with naps, though they're shorter and he sometimes wakes up crying. But nighttime is suddenly really rough.

Isaac's sleep had finally hit a really good run and then these last three nights happened. DH is up there soothing him back to sleep right now. I am just a zombie this week.

@keepcalmcarrie: That is the worst when they just yell mama from bed.

@silver1: A doctors play kit sounds like a fun idea.

@Adira: I hope he sleeps better tonight.

@cheert16: I haven't even tried getting him to say trick or treat. Maybe we will practice this weekend.

@QueensBee: I'm glad motrin works for you. Last night we did motrin before bed and tylenol in the middle of the night but neither seemed to help.

@Smurfette: I can't wait to hear what the teachers do for the kids costumes at R's daycare.

  11. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@silver1: I hope you miss the regression! I've missed some of the others, so it's definitely our turn to deal with sleep issues.

    @Smurfette: Oh my gosh, right??

@cheert16: Yeah, Hubs usually deals with bedtime too! But tonight, as soon as he took him to put him to bed, the screaming started. I finally went to help after 10 minutes, but it definitely didn't help.

@keepcalmcarrie: Ugh, it's almost worst that they know how to say Mama now because hearing him crying and saying "Mama!" breaks my heart!!

@ALV91711: He did!! After the hysterics at bedtime, he slept through the night! Sooooo thankful!! Hope your guy ended up sleeping okay after your DH soothed him!

    @cheert16: @keepcalmcarrie: @ALV91711: @Adira: try the nightlight!! It helped R.

  13. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I actually mentioned that to Hubs the other night when he woke up in the middle of the night and was crying/whining for an hour, and he said he tried turning on the nightlight (our white noise machine has a light on it) and he said it just made Xander whine even more! And he'd point at the light and whine and then he stopped whining when Hubs turned it back off. Sooo... I think he likes the dark??

  14. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Our white noise machine has a light too, which was always fine for R. But the night light has helped. She loves it and points to it every night. Hopefully he gets over what it is soon!

    What's everyone doing this weekend?

We are taking R to a farm. Pick out some pumpkins, watch pig races, pick wild flowers, etc. I am excited! Going with another couple and their almost 3 yr old son. R is going to love it.

I am bummed I didn't get a cute outfit for her for pictures, oh well!

  16. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: My only plans for this weekend is to move Xander into his new room (and I totally owe you guy pics). It might be dreary here, so I'm not sure we'll do much else. Going to pick out pumpkins and stuff will be so much fun though!! I hope R has a blast!

@Smurfette: I hope so! I'm nervous that he'll have trouble sleeping in it, but we've played in it a bunch, so hopefully he's getting used to it!

@Smurfette: Just errands and PT for LO 2 tomorrow. Boring

I might take them to a Halloween festival on Sunday! I am hosting a small get together for the Sunday night NFL game.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

@Smurfette: That sounds like so much fun! I wish we had something like that near us. I want to go buy some Halloween decorations tomorrow to put up. They decorated at daycare today and Isaac just loved everything.

@Adira: I hope the transition to the new room goes good. I'm sure it will be a breeze for him.

@autumnlove: A Halloween festival sounds like fun.

It is supposed to be really nice here, so I hope we get in some outside time. He has a cold again though so we'll see how the days go.

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Thanks! He enjoys playing in the room, so hopefully he's fine sleeping there! I've moved all his stuff, so now it's just to actually put him down in there for a nap. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly!

@Smurfette: That sounds like a great fall day! I just saw her outfit on IG and it's adorable, love the plaid!

We are having a busy day of play today. We had three sets of neighbors and their toddlers over for brunch this morning. It's become a bit of a Saturday tradition that I love. Every few weeks, one of us offers to host. Coffee, bloody marys and mimosas are served, and we all bring a dish. The toddlers run around and play while the grownups eat and chat. Pete is really starting to form friendships with the other kids, as well as his daycare class. He's particularly obsessed with one little girl who lives down the street, and he says her name all day long. Today, when she was leaving, she gave him a hug and he had the biggest smile. He kept signing for "more! more!" hugs from Emmy!

And at 4pm, my cousin, his wife, and their two boys are coming over for a spaghetti dinner. They have tickets to a pumpkin blaze nearby tonight so they are going to stop on their way to the event. The kids are a bit older, 4 and 7, and they are very rambunctious! Pete loves chasing them around the house.

And tomorrow, we are just relaxing and catching up on chores. No plans!

@cheert16: Pete will be a Baby Frankenstein, from Carters. I will probably wear a silly hat, but nothing elaborate!

@Adira: Bedtime has been rough for us this week too! I hope Xander transitions to his beautiful new room quickly.

@autumnlove: Sounds like a fun weekend!

@Smurfette: We may give the nightlight a try too! He is still waking up at 4-5am each day. So brutal!

@autumnlove: @Corduroy: @QueensBee: Thank you!! I love how it turned out!! I just need some artwork on the walls now.

@QueensBee: It's Behr's Americana! I LOVE it!!! Hubs thinks it's kind of dark, but I think it's gorgeous. And Xander napped 2 hours in his room earlier and just went down to bed, so fingers crossed, he sleeps okay!

Oh my gosh, that Saturday morning brunch sounds AWESOME!! I wish I had some friends with kids similar in age to Xander to do something like that. It sounds like you had a packed, but fun, day!!

@Adira: I love the wall color.
@QueensBee: love the brunch idea!! We are getting together a lot with our neighbors. So fun! Only R has to go to bed earlier so I am home while they are all watching football and drinking. Planning a beach vacation with two families.

R had a BLAST today. She really loved climbing all over the pumpkins. Hopefully I got some good pics on the camera. Then she was having so much fun running around with the neighbors. I felt bad leaving. But she only had 2 35 min cat nap so she was exhausted. She hardly ate all day. I don't understand kids!!!

@Smurfette: Thanks! And so glad to hear that R had so much fun today!! I saw an IG pic of her and she looked like she was having a blast! Hopefully she sleeps really well tonight!

@Adira: Can I squeeze those cheeks?! I love his big boy room, it looks awesome.

@QueensBee: Sounds like a very busy day. I like the sound of a neighbourhood brunch.

@Smurfette: I hope she has a great sleep tonight after all that running around. Saw your pic on IG and looks like she loved those pumpkins.

Our weekend is ending up to be a quiet one. Isaac has this bug that has been going around, so we just vegged out today. Poor guy couldn't keep any food in. He must of liked getting to watch lots of Sesame Street. We put up some Halloween window decals this morning and he really like moving them around the windows, kept him busy for a long time.

  32. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Thanks!! Sorry to hear Isaac isn't feeling well. Poor guy! I hope it doesn't affect his sleep too much tonight - I know how much we've all been suffering with sleep lately. Hopefully it's just a 24 hour bug or something and he's feeling better tomorrow!

  33. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: I think it will be a rough night of sleep. It took a bunch of rocking to get him down and he has been moaning and coughing a bunch. And now he is fussing again. He's been in bed just over an hour only. I'm hoping he'll be feeling better tomorrow.

@Adira: Thanks for the paint color name. I am going to file that away. I really love it!

Yesterday's nap sounds like it was a success. How did he do with his first night in there?

@ALV91711: @Adira: @Smurfette: Yes, the brunch is the highlight of our weekend! I was really nervous about moving away from our friends in the city, and starting to form these new relationships helps me feel so much better about the decision.

@Smurfette: Sounds like you have some awesome neighbors too! So happy she had a blast at the farm yesterday. Weekends like that make all the crazy stressful work days worth it....!

@ALV91711: Awe, I feel like Isaac has been catching everything this fall! I hope he is feeling better today.

We had a really fun weekend with Pete. He started saying, "I love you" which was a big highlight. And he tries to sing the ABC song now! He can get as far as C easily and then the other letters sound the same. But it's so stinkin' cute listening to him! We also loved watching him play with his older cousins yesterday. They were rolling down a hill in our front yard and he kept trying to do it too. But, he didn't know how to position his body correctly to roll down. So he'd try rolling the wrong way and flopping all over. And when he finally got it right, his older cousin started shouting, "You did it, Pete! You did it!" So sweet!

  35. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: How'd Isaac sleep last night? How's he feeling today?

@QueensBee: He did great!! Slept through the night! Though he woke up at 6:30 this morning crying pretty hard. Not sure if he just wasn't feeling well or if he was confused about where he was or what was going on. But he napped fine and went down fine again today, so hopefully everything's good!

OMG, sooooooo jealous that Pete said "I love you"!!!! That's awesome!!! And the singing is so cute!! Xander hasn't attempted to sing anything yet, though he loves to dance to music. Sounds like you all had a fun weekend!

@QueensBee: @Adira: He was feeling better today. He ate a bit at breakfast but then it took him until late afternoon before he would really eat anything. He actually slept all right last night. He woke up moaning a few times but I just would turn on his glow worm, give him a pat and he was right back to sleep.

@QueensBee: I love you, that must be the cutest ever! It is so awesome he has big cousins to play with him and to learn from.

Today DH sneezed and Isaac said bless you. I love that he is starting to have 2 word phrases.

@Adira: So glad that he is sleeping well in his new room. This morning he might have been a bit confused but at least he slept through the night without a problem.

So LO skipped her nap and then fell asleep at 5 on the way home from the pumpkin patch. I wasn't able to keep her awake so I put her down. It's 8:30 now and I fear for the night. Ugh.

    Holy 18-month sleep regression/teething BS!
How long does this ish last?? I am too old and too pregnant to have toddlers that just suddenly hate sleeping.

    The end.

P.S. Heeeeey, ladies! How ya doing? And also how are our kids over a year & a half old now?? It seems like yesterday that I was in the March/April due date threads.

@Adira: Love Xander's big boy room! It turned out lovely.

@Mrs. Blue: @QueensBee: @Adira: @cheert16: OMG, it helps so much reading that our little dude isn't the only one that doesn't sleep well. Although it has gotten a little better. He's falling asleep fine now but still wakes up screaming like a mad-man sometime between 2-5am which is when he moves to bed with us and happily continues sleeping. Oh well, I hope we'll get back to sleeping through the night sometime soon.

Other than that things are fine and we had a busy weekend. Went stroller shopping on Saturday and to brunch with friends on Sunday morning and to a playdate with different friends in the afternoon. Now I just wish I wouldn't have to be at work today - I'm exhausted.

  40. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Glad to hear he slept okay and was feeling a bit better!! I'm so jealous of the two-word phrases! The only one Xander does is "Hi _____". But I guess he's gotta start somewhere.

@Corduroy: Fingers crossed she slept through the whole night despite the early bedtime!!

@Mrs. Blue: There's a possibility Xander is past the regression, though I'm not sure... he went down to bed the last couple nights okay, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. So hopefully it doesn't last too long in your household! It's gotta be worse with two of them going through it at the same time!

@Pumuckl: Thanks!! Sounds like you guys had a fun weekend!!

So I really like Xander's new room EXCEPT that we can no longer hear him from our room. We have the video monitor, so we keep that on, but we used to just turn the sound off when he was whining/groaning because we could still hear him if he cried through the walls, but now we can't. Definitely don't like that I can't hear him without the monitor...
