@cheert16: I think we will do long sleeve jammies, socks and blanket. Last winter we did fleece jammies. He does have some that will still fit him so we'll use those too.

@Adira: That is kind of strange that you don't sign him in as a toddler when that is where he is.

And now it seems DH has what I had.

@Adira: You don't have to sign him in and out? That is weird.
@cheert16: We aren't going to use sleep sacks again. I like not using them. She will sleep in long sleeves and footed fleece sleepers when it is really cold. Some nights she falls asleep with the blanket on and some not. We try and sneak in and put the blanket over her before we go to sleep.

@ALV91711: @Smurfette: I agree - so bizarre! I was like "How do you guys know he's here if I don't sign him in?" I don't get it. Plus, how do they know when his last diaper change was if we don't fill that info in? Or what meds he might need? The infant form was so much better.

So Xander's become obsessed with this teddy bear we have, and I let him nap with it once, but it's got those hard eyes that you're not supposed to give babies because they could chew them off and swallow them or something like that... so anyway, we have this other teddy bear that's meant for babies and has soft eyes, so Hubs gave it to Xander last night to sleep with and this morning he was just sitting up and talking to the teddy bear. So cute!!

Have any of you let your kids sleep with stuffed animals yet? I wasn't going to until he was 2, but it's just so cute! Plus now he has a toy in his crib with him so he can occupy himself in the morning for a little bit.

    @Adira: Awww, cute!

LO 2 doesn't have any interest in sleeping with stuffed animals yet. LO 1 started a couple of months ago!

    Is it Friday yet?

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@autumnlove: Xander actually didn't have any interest in stuffed animals until our weekend in the hospital and now suddenly he seems to love them!

I wish it was Friday. This week is going to drag.

@Adira: LO 1's room doesn't have a daily form but they have a small bulletin board and paper for parents to leave important notes, etc.

@Adira: We don't sign in B either. They do that themselves. They note when he arrives and when he leaves and write down anything that concerns him that his teachers need to know. Maybe they do the same thing at your daycare. Concerning stuffed animals - I was a bad mommy and B has always had a little stuffed bunny in his crib. I just made sure when he was younger that it was out of his way.

@cheert16: I'm not much of a help with the sleepwear since B is still in a two-piece sleepsack but then the recommended temp for sleep here is 60-64°F so he needs some cloths on.

We got back from our vacation in the US on Friday and boy has the little dude been having trouble readjusting to the new time zone. It wasn't really an issue coming over but being back now the nights have been horrible. Hope we're back to normal soon. I'm fairly certain though that his normal routine of daycare etc. will help. We had a blast on vacation and it was so much fun to spend the time as family.

@autumnlove: I don't think Xander's room has something like that... I should ask. We don't even drop Xander off in his room - he gets dropped off in the infant room. Though his room is right across the hall, so it would be easy to pop in there and write a note if they have something like that.

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Pumuckl: Oh, that's a good point. Someone must be noting when he arrives and leaves because they have a form that they fill out and I have to sign it each week. So someone's taking note!

Glad to hear you had fun on your vacation!!! Bummer about the jet lag though. I suspect it affects kids even more than us adults. Hopefully he adjusts soon!

@autumnlove: Seriously. The weekend went too fast. DH flies out tomorrow morning and won't be home till late Friday. R is going to be so sad when she realizes Dada is back to being gone 4 days in a row.
@Adira: R has been sleeping with a jellycat bunny since Easter.
@Pumuckl: Glad that y'all had a great vacation!

@Smurfette: I hear ya on the dad attachment - I'm dreading tomorrow when DH leaves. B was such a dada's boy on vacation it'll be really hard for him to have him leave again. Luckily it is only for 2 nights and DH has already said that when today's night is anything like last night he'll stay a day longer 'cause there is no way he is leaving me alone with B in that state.

@Pumuckl: It is so hard. I think they are starting to realize how long they are gone. She is all Dada these days. I am dreading it.

@Smurfette: @Pumuckl: My DH is going on a business trip Wed - Sun. He never travels so this is a big change for us. I got a BFP on Saturday and I'm hoping I don't start feeling awful until he gets back.

@Adira: thanks, the line was faint on Sat & Sun and I haven't had any symptoms yet (other than lack of horrible PMS) so I don't believe it 100% yet.

@travellingbee: Wow, that is a lot of food! He must be a growing boy! Pete is a hearty eater too but I'm not sure he's had a meal that big before. Hilarious!

@ALV91711: The party sounds like a blast! And I hope Isaac doesn't get sick next! Fingers crossed for you!

@cheert16: Right now I have him in fleece footed pajamas and I'm trying to use the heat sparingly. I may have to buy a wool sleep sack once winter really hits.

@Adira: Pete just started showing interest in a stuffed animal in his crib this week. I guess it’s more like a lovey than a stuffed animal and it doesn’t have any button eyes. I actually don’t even know where it came from but he grabs it on his way into the crib and then holds it while he falls asleep. So cute!

@autumnlove: Gahhh only Monday! It’s been a long day (venting post to follow!)

@Pumuckl: Glad you had a fun vacation! I hope he gets back on a regular schedule soon.

@Corduroy: Congrats!!!! When are you due?

Okay Moms, this was a very long day. Pete woke up for the day at 4:30 a.m., which is obviously way too early. He was clingy and grouchy all morning, and I was so exhausted. I ended up missing my regular train to work and dashed out of the house without my work ipad, laptop, phone charger, or plan book. Yikes! I was so disorganized and lost!

Then, I had to leave work directly after my last class to get Pete to his 18 month check up by 2:30p.m. I was rushing back to the train, racing to the daycare, and then zooming to the ped. I pulled into the parking lot right at 2:31 p.m. It all felt so rushed and stressed!

And then, the appointment. The important thing is that he is a healthy boy and for that I am grateful. However, it felt like the longest hour of my life. From the moment I tried to fill out his new patient forms, to the measurements, to the blood draw, to the vaccinations, to putting his clothes back on, Pete screamed like a banshee the whole time! Boogers and drool everywhere. Blood on his clothes. The worst.

Then I tried to calm him down with a sippy cup of milk on the ride home, which he promptly spilled all over his car seat. I have no idea how I'm going to clean it properly. Serenity now.

Anyway, all is finally calm and he's sleeping soundly. He weighed in at 26 lbs. 6 oz., 32.5 inches tall, and head circumference 48 cm.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done. Like others have said before, is it the weekend yet??!

@QueensBee: wow! I am tired reading that day! Doctor appointments are so hard now cause they remember it and the shots. R and P are almost the same in weight and height.

@QueensBee: Oh man. What a crappy day. We've had several similar days lately. Sigh. Glad he's healthy! He's a chunker!!

@Adira: Isaac's had guys in his crib since around 3 months. At first it was just his glow worm for when he woke up in the night. Then around 10 months scout got added for the same reason. He doesn't really ever touch these. About a month ago he decided his two little penguins lived in his crib. They both have hard eyes, but he doesn't really touch them that often. It is cute, he will ask for the penguins, kiss them and throw them back in his crib.

@autumnlove: I wish it was Friday, going to be a long week.

@Pumuckl: Glad to hear you had a good trip. Hopefully he adjusts to the time change soon. That is good your DH is willing to stay home and help out.

    @Corduroy: Congrats!

@QueensBee: What a day. I hope tomorrow is calmer for you. What a big boy Pete is! That is awesome.

@Smurfette: Are you guys all done with shots now? 18 months was the last one here until kindergarten.

@QueensBee: Gahhh, just reading about your day made me feel tired and overwhelmed!! That sounds dreadful! I'm so sorry!! But at least it's over now, so hopefully the days to come are easier! And it sounds like Pete's a very healthy growing boy!!

@ALV91711: Aww, that's so cute about the penguins!!

@ALV91711: haha they just have to be near him E sleeps with two wubbanubs, her jellycat, and a little dog. she squeals with joy and clutches him tightly every time i add him. It's so funny. They're nothing to her while she sleeps, though, haha.

@ALV91711: @Smurfette: I checked the CDC schedule and it looks like, besides the flu shot, we might not have anymore immunizations until age 4!

@Adira: We have! This chart laid it out nicely. Looks like the most were at 12/15 months, she's limited at 18 months (i hope she can get her flu shot in the ped's office thursday) and then just flu shots after that!

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@blackbird: Yes! That chart is similar to the one I was looking at, but easier to read, haha! Yay!!

@Smurfette: Seriously! He knew from the moment that we walked into the office that he was not happy! He also has pretty fierce stranger anxiety right now and absolutely hates people poking and prodding him. The measurements were as torturous as the shots.

@travellingbee: Thanks! He is a chunker! I'm sorry you're having similarly crappy days lately but also relieved that I'm not the only one!

@ALV91711: Awe, he is a little penguin lover! Have you taken him to an aquarium?

@Adira: @blackbird: I think you're right and we are done with shots for a while! Whoohoo! And I love that chart, thanks for posting!

Well the night light is still helping over night only now she is waking up earlier. The last couple nights I put it on a timer, so it goes off at 5 am. She is still waking up at 615, waking me up too, but at least she is fine to lay in the crib till 7 (so far). I am scared for DST unless this improves before then!

Day care is having a festival tonight. Hopefully R will sit for a her first face painting!

@Smurfette: ha! The festival in general

  37. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Smurfette: The festival sounds fun. The early wake ups not so much. I guess at least she is happy to be in her crib for a while.

I'm so not looking forward to DST. Then the weekend after we are going home for a visit and they are an hour behind us. Poor Isaac is going to be so messed up after those two weeks.

@QueensBee: We don't have an aquarium around here to go to. We have gone to the zoo though.

@blackbird: That is a good chart. We can't go for flu shots until after the 20th, that is when they come out around here. But luckily we don't have to go to the doctor to get them, just to the health center.

Thanksgiving weekend up here. So glad for a long weekend. We won't be doing much. Last weekend I had a bug and then DH caught it, so now he has to work through the weekend. I wanted to take Isaac to a pumpkin patch, but the only one I can find is an hour away from our house. It is supposed to be really nice, so I'm hoping to get lots of playing outside done.

  38. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Glad the nightlight is working and at least she's hanging out in the crib okay in the morning! Hope you had fun at the festival!!

@ALV91711: Happy Thanksgiving!! Bummer your DH has to work though.

Xander finally got his HepA vaccine and the flu shot today. He sobbed so hard - big angry alligator tears. I felt so bad. And he knew exactly what was coming. He was fine playing in the waiting area, but as soon as they called his name to go back to a room, he ran the other way and when I caught him, he started crying. Poor baby has seen the doctor too much lately!!! Hoping that's our last time seeing anyone until his two year visit!

We never got her face painted. The line was long and I figured it wasn't worth it. She hated the bouncy house, which is a new thing. Didn't like the music, didn't want to dance with her classmates, didn't like bubbles. Then threw a fit at Chick-fil-a. I can't wait for DH to get home. Of course his flight is late but he should be home soon.

@Smurfette: Oh man, what a bummer it didn't go too well!! Hope your DH gets home soon!
