Okay, time for me to catch up on everything I missed while I was totally consumed with what was going on with Xander!
@keepcalmcarrie: Congrats on selling your house! Bummer about solo parenting though. I do it for one day at a time occasionally when Hubs goes out with his friends after work and it is ROUGH. 29 lbs and 34.5 inches!! Big baby!!! And I'm not sure I knew you were pregnant - congrats!!!
@ALV91711: That is so adorable that Isaac was giving hugs and kisses to another kid in his class!!! Xander will wave and blow kisses, but I haven't seen him actually give another child a hug or anything yet.
@travellingbee: You mentioned a couple days ago that L has a bad cough. How's he doing??

@Adira: How is Xander feeling? Does he get to go back to daycare this week?
Isaac was a tired grump today. He has a molar and canine about to break through and a diaper rash. I hope these two teeth come in quick, they are the last two until the 2 year molars.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Thanks for asking! He's doing a lot better, but still congested and we've been sucking out his nose before naps and bed, which he HATES. He's not allowed to go back to daycare this week.
Hubs is staying home with him today and I'll be home with him tomorrow. He also had a bit of a rough night last night... not sure why. He woke up when Hubs was giving him his meds at 2:30 a.m. and then didn't fall back asleep for over two hours.
Hope those teeth break through for you quickly! I think Xander is still working on his canines and they are taking FOREVER to come in all the way!

@Adira: Glad that he is doing better!!
@ALV91711: I am enjoying the teething break. Not looking forward to the 2 yr molars.
So R kept waking up and crying, wanting the hall light on when falling asleep, and her door cracked. So Tues night when she woke up for the 2nd time that night, and it was only 10, I put the Halloween night light in her room (luckily I just unpacked the fall stuff) and tried it out. She slept the rest of the night for the first time in 3 nights. Last night she went to sleep like normal and not a peep all night. So the nightlight is working!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh wow!! Do you think she's afraid of the dark? I was wondering if Xander might like a night light, but I don't really know if he needs one or not. That's awesome that the Halloween light did the trick!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I guess. A friend said separation anxiety is high at this age, so maybe she wakes up and freaks when she can't see (even though she had a little one on her sound machine), so now that she can see in her room, it is comforting to her.
I have a Christmas one too. So I think she will get a regular one for Christmas!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: That could be! Xander's white noise machine also has a little light on it, but we usually don't turn it on. And it's awesome that she's at least giving you gift ideas for Christmas!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yeah besides the kitchen Santa is bringing, we aren't getting her much. I would rather save our money and get things next year when she gets it more. So might as well wrap up the nightlight!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I still don't know what we're getting Xander. I don't think we'll get him too much either, especially since we're already planning on getting him some gifts from the baby that month. He might just get clothes from us!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: R has plenty of winter clothes, well we need a heavy coat but that is it. She will probably get play food/pots and pans from us. And I want to get her a Mickey doll since she loves that show now. Asks for it all the time.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, I will actually probably have to buy Xander winter clothes before Christmas, so maybe he won't really need clothes by then anyway. That's cute she's into Mickey!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: yeah she is a woman obsessed. Since DH has been home he puts it on in the morning, while she eats so he can grab a shower. She is going to be in for a rude awakening next week when he is on the road again.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: hahaha, that's like Sundays at our house. Hubs gets up with Xander and spends most of the day with him while I sleep in and them do all the grocery shopping and Hubs tends to keep the TV on in the background, which Xander LOVES (and now it's football season, so Xander has learned to do the Florida Gater clap - WTF? and say Ta-dow! (Touch down!) while throwing his hands in the are). So whenever he's home with just me, he's always picking up the remote and going "TV?" and I'm all "Nope!" haha
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: yeah, all night Mini?? I am like nope Mickey isn't on now. DH wants the TV on all the time and I am trying to not since she wants to watch it now.
And you can't be a Gator fan house. Not allowed!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh, we're not Gator fans! Not at all!! Hubs was just watching ESPN and they were talking about them and Xander apparently things the Gator clap is AWESOME, so now he does it, haha. I guess Xander's a Gator fan?? We're Patriot fans though, being from New England.
And my husband is the same way with the TV - he just has it on all the time! And then when I'm watching Xander, I try not to have it on at all, but he's constantly grabbing the remote and trying to turn it on himself. Glad he hasn't figured out which button is the on button!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Just called Hubs to check up on Xander and heard him in the background going "Hi Mama!!!"
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Xander apparently wore out Hubs today. He passed out on the couch while I was putting Xander to bed, haha!
Anyone still have their 18 month appointment to do? We already had ours but didn't get the immunizations at the time. We go back on the 10th for both the Hep A vaccine and the flu shot.

@Adira: So happy to hear he is feeling better! I hope all the mucus clears up soon. I bet you all need a weekend of rest!
We are having our 18 month appointment on Monday. I had a few late nights at work this week and our doctor is taking a lot of time off for Jewish holidays, so it was hard to find an appointment that worked for both of us until next week. I am so curious to see how big he is!
@Smurfette: The nightlight is a great idea. I hope she continues to sleep well with it!
Like I mentioned earlier, I had a few late nights at work this week and my SIL has been helping us take care of Pete. I've missed him so much this week! I'm so looking forward to the weekend when I can have more time with him. We are going pumpkin picking and I'm so excited for it!
Knock on wood, he's been sleeping great this week and he's spending most of the day without his pacifier. He is also learning a ton of new words each day and recently started saying two word phrases like, "Bye-bye bath" and "Stop barking" to the dogs. I think he's definitely having a language explosion!
I'm a little stressed about what to get for his Halloween costume this year. He's so picky with clothes and will not wear a hat! He also poops a lot and I want a costume that's in two pieces (shirt and pants), so his daycare teachers will notice when he's pooped. I'm thinking about maybe a cow or a puppy? Has anyone else picked out a Halloween costume? Pics are always welcome!

@Adira: I hope he sleeps better tonight. Two hours awake is rough. Did he at least just stay quietly in his crib?
@Smurfette: That is awesome that the nightlight worked and a good Christmas gift idea. I'm wondering if we should maybe try this. The last couple nights Isaac has woken up screaming and with tears down his face, almost like he was scared. Usually he fusses and whines if he wakes up.
@Adira: @Smurfett: We aren't getting Isaac too much for Christmas. A little table and chairs and a few toys for his stocking. I feel like I've been buying him so much like clothes, pj's and outdoor gear to get ready for winter plus our family will all get him things too.
@QueensBee: Pumpking picking sounds like fun, I want to do that in the next couple of weeks. Isaac is going to be a penguin, I've already got it for him, it is one piece, I never thought of two pieces for daycare.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@QueensBee: I bought R a butterfly costume off the classifieds. I am going to get some fun striped leggings to go with it. She won't wear anything on her head either. It has a hoodie, but I know she won't wear it. Day care makes class costumes, so I am not sure till I go to the parade what she will be there. Waiting for the teachers to tell us what we need to bring or $.
@ALV91711: I was out last night and DH said that she had trouble falling asleep last night. Wanted water, etc. But he left her door open so I think she heard him so going to try door shut again tonight, which worked the night before. She did wake up at 550 this morning coughing and then wanted to get up. So I turned off the monitor and she was back asleep by 615.

@Smurfette: Iv'e heard that, too, that anxiety is really high around 18 months. E is exhibiting some clingy behavior, too
@Adira: ours is Thursday. Dh and I are both going. We need to talk to the ped about E's refusal to speak words.
@QueensBee: Those are easy! He could also be Charlie Brown, heh. that's an easy two piece costume. E's going to be the abominable snowman. We have a few events to go this year. Maybe next year i can get her to go as Snoopy and the new baby can tag along as Woodstock, HEHE. I love matching costumes, though. DH is going to be Yukon Cornelius and I'm a reindeer for the two parties we have to go to. i'm excited to actually participate in halloween this year.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@QueensBee: Oh man, pumpkin picking will be so much fun! I should do something like that with Xander. And that's awesome about the language explosion! The only two word phrases Xander uses are just "Hi ____". And I haven't even thought about a costume but I think we have a couple hand-me-downs from SIL that I might just use. I have to see if I can find them...
@ALV91711: According to Hubs, he was whining pretty much non-stop. And at one point he started crying because I woke up to that. He slept MUCH better last night though!
And thanks for reminding me about a table and chairs! I was originally thinking of getting something like that for Xander, but then forgot all about it. What kind are you going to get?
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: A butterfly will be so cute!
@blackbird: I love your snoopy idea for next Halloween.
@Adira: I haven't really done much looking, so I'm not sure what ones we'll get yet.
I'm so glad it is Friday today, I'm exhausted! DH finally got a carseat for the truck, so I think I'm going to make him take Isaac for a truck ride on Sunday and then I can have the house to myself for a while.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Ooooh, do it! Having time to yourself at home is awesome!! I love it when I had some time to myself at home and can just relax!
pear / 1718 posts
@ALV91711: The penguin costume sounds adorable! I hope you get some time to yourself tomorrow. My LO would be so excited if he got to ride around in a real truck. I bet Isaac will love it!
@Smurfette: Awe, I can't wait to see R in her butterfly outfit! I keep checking the HB classifieds for a cheap easy costume but nothing has been posted for boys. Do you think you'll go trick or treating this year?
@blackbird: Your costumes are so creative and sound awesome!
@Adira: @ALV91711: We may also do a table and chairs set for Christmas! Please let me know if your find any good deals! My parents bought Pete a train set off Zulily already, which I know he will love. We may also get him a learning tower, and that will probably be it. Most of Santa's money goes to the daily gift of daycare.
@Adira: How is Xander feeling this weekend? Do you think he'll be ready t go back to daycare on Monday?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@QueensBee: we are going Trick or Treating. Neighborhood has a party from 5-7, then they all go together. She won't go to as many as most of the kids.
Get a learning tower, R LOVES the one my Dad made her. My parents are going to get/make her a table and chairs for her bday.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: @QueensBee: Ride in daddy's truck isn't going to happen this weekend. I woke up so sick today so DH stayed home from work to look after us, which means he has to work tomorrow.
@QueensBee: At this age I don't think we need to do too much for Christmas. They don't understand yet. And really we spend enough all year buying him what he needs.
@Smurfette: That is fun that you have a neighbourhood party. I never thought I take this little of a kid trick or treating but we are going to take him to a few of our neighbours houses.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@QueensBee: He's doing good!! He's been in a great mood all weekend and I don't think he's been coughing or wheezing as much. We're planning on sending him to daycare on Monday. I'm not positive what to do about his inhaler though... his normal teacher isn't there when we drop Xander off.
pear / 1718 posts
@Smurfette: Sounds like fun! We have a neighborhood parade on the 24th, but nothing organized for Halloween itself. I'm not sure if we'll ring any bells or just answer our own door for fun. Good to know that R loves her learning tower! I'm so impressed your dad made it and I just love the color you chose.
@ALV91711: Sorry you aren't feeling well!
Any better today?
@Adira: Great to hear he's almost back to his old self! What a wild week for you guys!
We just returned from our morning of pumpkin and apple picking. It's a perfect fall day, but cold, out there! When we arrived to the farm, our car thermometer read 47 degrees! I think Pete was chilly so he was pretty cranky for the first half of the trip. Then, he ate some apples and a donut, and warmed up, and his mood greatly improved! He was trying to lift up all the big pumpkins and shouting "apple! apple!" everywhere. I love the fall and now I can't wait to go back to the same farm for a Christmas tree in two months!

I just ordered the Carter's Little Frankenstein outfit for Halloween!
http://www.carters.com/V_121C846.html It's not the most creative or original but I think he will be cute and warm in it! Plus, he often acts like Frankenstein now that we are weaning him from the pacifier so it felt appropriate...

@QueensBee: Adorable! L's gonna be curious george.
I think he's going through a growth spurt. At 1130am, he had a snack since we were going out for a late lunch. At that time he ate some apple slices with PB and some spinach dip with dried peas. Then he napped. 1 1/2 hour late he ate the following for lunch-
4 cherry tomatoes
A cheese stick
2 strawberries
1/2 of a banana
A handful of gerber crunchies
A sweet potato pouch
3 slices of carrot
A handful of peas
2 whole scrambled eggs
2 bites of English muffin
A few french fries
A 1/2 cup of cantaloupe
How is that possible?!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: I am amazed at how much R can eat at times. They seem to have a bottomless pit!! But then the next day not eat at all.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@QueensBee: Yikes, 47 is chilly! We've had to break out Xander's winter hat and mittens a couple times for our morning walks, though I don't think it's been that cold yet. But it sounds like Pete had a fun time! And that costume is adorable!!
@travellingbee: @Smurfette: I hear you ladies!! I think Xander was going through a growth spurt a couple weeks ago because it seemed like he just would not stop eating!!!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@blackbird: Thanks! Feeling better today, just so tired.
@Adira: Are the teachers at your daycare pretty good about passing info on to each other? We have a book by the sign in book to write notes so all the teachers can see. Mostly it is just for scrapes and scratches they came from home with.
@QueensBee: Pumpkin and apple picking sounds like so much fun, even if it was a little chilly. The Frankenstein costume is cute and looks nice and warm.
@travellingbee: That is a huge lunch! Sometimes I wonder where they put it all.
Today we were playing outside and three houses down was a first birthday party. They saw Isaac watching the kids play so they came over and invited him to go play. He had a blast. They had this bouncy thing that had a ball pit and slide that he loved.

Woah- I need to catch up!
What are you cold weather bees doing for LO for pjs/ blankets in the colder weather? B wears log sleeve jammies and he some footed ones. He kicks off his blanket every night though- should I still be putting him in a fleece sleepsack??
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@cheert16: we just do the fuzzy jammies. We don't let the house get below 70, though!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: I honestly don't know. When Xander was in the infant room, was of his main teachers was always there at drop-off and she was good at letting the other teachers know information. But now he arrives before any of the toddler teachers are there so I don't know how good the drop-off teacher is at letting the others know stuff. We also don't sign him in as a toddler, which I find bizarre, so there's nowhere for me to write notes. I'm putting a note for his teacher in his daycare bag, but I'm not positive she'll see it.
That's so sweet that that house invited Isaac over to join in on the birthday fun!! Yay!
@cheert16: Same as @blackbird:. We use fleece footed pjs for the most part and just try to keep his room warm. I'm a little nervous though because he's moving into his toddler room soon and that room doesn't stay as warm as his current one... we may have to crank up the heat a bit.
