Wow, everyone is getting so close! My neighbor whose official due date is mid-Dec went in to be induced today bc she's a diabetic.
I am jealous...I'm not due until 12/29, there's no reason for me to be induced, I may even end up being a January mama, but I AM SO OVER BEING PREGNANT.

@Kiki: sounds like you may very well get the November baby you're hoping for! Sorry to hear about the Hypertension diagnosis, but glad your team seems on top of things. I can't imagine how scary/exciting having that deadline must be!
@Pirouette: crossing my fingers for good news on Wednesday! I'm anxious to hear, can't imagine how you must feel!
@lamariniere: I've just been fascinated by all the differences in the way your prenatal care has been handled. I would have a hard time with such a hands off approach. Hoping all goes smoothly for you in the next few weeks!
As for me, hanging in there. Cold sore is close to healed, just waiting for the redness to go away at this point. Still hobbling around due to pelvis pain. I ended up staying home all last week and today as well. Feeling a lot of guilt about doing so, when my OB was pretty dismissive over the phone, but even my office job seems like too much. Will be anxious to hear what she says tomorrow. I have an hour or two that aren't so bad in the morning, but yesterday's trip up the stairs plus bath was plenty.
I think I lost a bit of my mucous plug a few days ago, which is exciting! It feels like I've been waiting forever, yet I can't believe I'm already at 38 weeks!

@jaypegs: I wonder if your pelvic pain could be due to the baby having dropped? With my first, the difference was VERY noticeable when he finally dropped around 37 weeks. I woke up one day and was waddling and definitely felt different. I don't think it was as painful as what you are describing, but I definitely had a lot of pressure and discomfort in the pelvic area.

@lamariniere: thanks, i definitely will! i really can't get over how lax everything is over there (you know, aside from the risk of cat poo, haha!) I feel like you'd be pretty nervous about it all if this was your first though!
@jaypegs: i'm feeling optimistic that she's going to get to stay in 2 more weeks - i've definitely had a growth spurt the past few weeks, so i'm hoping she's gotten some of that! I'm sorry to hear you are still in so much pain, but i don't think you should feel bad at all about staying home! your body obviously needs to rest, and i'm sure sitting at a desk all day is the worst thing for you right now!
@Kiki: glad they are monitoring it, but also super exciting that you will have your baby in less than 2 weeks! hopefully you'll go into labor on your own before the deadline
@mrsmate: I know what you mean, but this next month (or however long) is going to FLY BY with all the holidays and stuff!

@mrsmate: I've been pretty antsy the last few weeks too! Hope the remaining time flies for you!
@lamariniere: Can you see a visible difference when the baby drops? The part of my bump that sicks out the furthest is still hovering around the same spot, a few inches above my belly button. I have definitely been wondering the same thing (even posted a thread about it!), but still have a hard time imagining that this kind of pain is completely normal - I'm feeling extra sensitive due to my OB's reaction though.
@Pirouette: Glad to hear about the growth spurt! And thanks for the reassurance. I feel extra in need of external validation lately!

@Kiki: Hoping your little guy will decide to leave on his own! Good luck!
@mrsmate: I belong to a Nov-Dec mom's group here and about 1/3 of the ladies have already had their babies! Every birth makes it a little more real for me!
@Pirouette: I'm so glad I'm not having my first here, I would definitely be panicking a bit more. Glad to hear you are gaining, hopefully your LO is too!
@jaypegs: I couldn't see a visible difference, but I could definitely feel one. I felt pretty good throughout my whole first pregnancy, but one morning I woke up and literally could feel that my pelvic area was completely different and achy. Regular walking around the last 3 weeks was really difficult, nearly painful.
Also, has anyone else's boobs started to change again? I feel like I went up a cup size around 18 weeks or so and then kind of stayed at the same size. But now I feel like I went up at least half a size over the weekend!

@jaypegs: i totally hear you - i have so much trouble allowing myself to leave work early if i'm not feeling well or anything like that...I often have to remind myself i'm 9 months pregnant and I need to take it easy sometimes and just lie on the couch! good luck with your appt, let us know how it goes!
@lamariniere: funny you brought that up, because in the last 24 hours i've felt like my boobs grew again! i am in denial about it though, they were already up 2 cup sizes, i can't take any more! and my annoying rib pain is back, which is making me think i may be dealing with some diastasis post partum...hopefully i'm wrong!

Ugh, my doctor made me so mad today! When I said that my pelvis was still bothering me, all she said was, "well, you're carrying around a lot of extra weight." I was so mad! Weight has been an ongoing sticking point for us, but I'm eating healthy and only eating until I'm full, so I decided to not worry about it. So when I realized she had completely dismissed my complaint, I was really upset. I explained that while I have gained weight, I'm still within 10 lbs of my max weight from a few years ago, that it makes no sense to blame severe sudden onset pain on my weight which definitely did not change overnight, and that from my research I had all the symptoms of SPD, and she offered to refer me to a physical therapist. If I'm still hurting next week, and haven't gone into labor by then, I'll probably take it, but didn't figure I'd get far trying to schedule something this close to Thanksgiving.
THEN she measured my uterus and for the first time said "that's a big baby!" It can't have changed that dramatically in one week (where I only gained a pound, I might add). She had me schedule an ultrasound for next Tuesday to check size and fluid levels. While I'm not opposed to the ultrasound, I don't want yet another thing for her to make me feel bad about. I'm trying so hard to go into this birth believing in my body and it's capabilities, and I don't want her making me doubt myself or to start talking about inducing, especially when ultrasounds are so unreliable when it comes to measuring weight. Just really frustrated!! (And I'm not even any dilated or effaced, so really nothing good came out of the whole visit)
@lamariniere: thanks for the info re: dropping. I don't know why, but I just always assumed it would be a visible change. And my boobs thankfully seem pretty content at the size they are now!
@Pirouette: maybe we'll just have to remind each other, then! Good luck tomorrow! We'll all be anxious to hear!

Hi ladies! It's been awhile since I checked in. Still plugging away! I definitely feel different these past couple weeks. Between week 34 and 35 I had a lot of trouble sleeping, got really weepy all the time, and just started to feel uncomfortable. Then it shifted into mainly low back pain...so now I'm sporting an oh-so-attractive maternity support belt. Woohoo. It does help my back, but it bugs my belly after awhile so I have to wear it a bit, take it off for a bit, etc.
I had my last two-week checkup and the MW said the baby's head is engaged! She could only feel to the base of the skull. That's good news, I guess, but I think it explains the aches and pains! No news yet on GBS and generally with my practice, no news is good news. Keeping my fingers crossed. I can't believe I'm down to weekly appointments now, it's crazy. LO is still super active, we've got a party animal on our hands. Oy.
@jaypegs: I didn't notice a difference visually when the baby dropped, I was actually surprised to hear the MW say it. But it made so much sense re: the changes I feel in my body. I'm sorry your doctor is being unsupportive about the pain and weight gain, it's really crappy that she keeps making you feel bad.
@mrsmate: I hear you on being over it. So, so over it.
@ everyone else, I hope you're hanging in there! Good luck to all if I don't "talk" to you before your babies come!
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@jaypegs: ugh. I'm so sorry you had such a negative appointment. Your doctor just sounds completely unsupportive, and way too limited in her thinking! It's not productive at all to dwell on a number on the scale when you're trying to heal the pain - even if this was caused by the weight gain (and not necessarily the weight but the balance of weight - i'm guessing when you've previously gained you haven't carried it all in one place the way we are now!), pointing that out doesn't lead to any kind of solution. I hope a physical therapist is more helpful in listening to your actual pain and trying to give you ways to lessen it!
Hopefully the ultrasound just winds up being an extra chance to see baby one more time on the inside and you can go along with your original birth plan
I will definitely update after my appts today! my doc called me yesterday and asked me to fast all day today (only gatorade or apple juice) "just in case" so it's not helping to pass the time any faster! and since there's very little chance of me needing a c section tonight, i'm a little bitter about the precaution, because i really like to eat, haha! already brainstorming about what we're going to eat for dinner when we get good news tonight (fingers crossed!)
cherry / 120 posts
@PurplePeony: Thanks! I imagine the baby has dropped, as I've been feeling more pressure in addition to the pain. I know the OB has been able to feel the head since 36 weeks, but she's never said anything about whether or not that means the baby dropped.
@Pirouette: Man, reading this gave me sympathy hunger pains! I hope all is well, and you're getting an awesome dinner tonight! And thank you for your support! It made me feel better
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@jaypegs: glad it helped! My appointments went well! She is continuing to grow on her tiny girl scale, which means I get to stay pregnant! We will be having her just after I hit 39 weeks and are currently scheduled for 12/17 (may move to 12/16 depending on hospital scheduling). I'm soooo relieved, and haven't stopped eating since I found out haha (gotta make up those calories!) Thanks for your support as well - this has been such a stressful few weeks.

@Pirouette: oh YAY! I got nervous when you didn't update last night (like the day before Thanksgiving isn't busy or anything, ha). I'm so glad she's still growing in there, slowly but surely, and you both get those extra weeks! And hope you get make up all those calories deliciously today - we have a lot to be thankful this year!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

@jaypegs: absolutely!! I am so thankful for everyone and everything in my life...especially my amazing husband who has been my rock and my daughter who I can't wait to meet!! Sorry I didn't get to update last night - I had every intention of doing so but dh and I were so exhausted! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!!

@jaypegs: ugh, your doctor sounds just terrible. If it were me, I would consider switching OB's once the baby is born, assuming she is also your Gyn. And you can definitely trust your body to know what it is doing! It sounds like you are doing everything you can to manage your weight and do what is best for your baby, so I wouldn't worry too much about this silly doctor's opinion. Sending lots of good energy and positive thoughts your way!
@PurplePeony: Very exciting to hear that the baby is making its way down! Yay!
@Pirouette: I'm so glad to hear that you are going to have a December baby and not a Thanksgiving baby! That is exciting to know the due date for your c-section! Out of curiosity, why is a c-section safer? I know you mentioned she has IUGR, but I don't know anything about it, other than what you have mentioned on HB.
I think I'm starting to lose my mucous plug! I don't recall ever seeing it or the bloody show with my DS, but I've definitely had some mucous-y strange discharge going on down there for the last few days. Just two more days until December! That has been such a huge milestone in my head even though baby girl isn't due until the 19th. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@lamariniere: yay for losing your mucous plug!! The delivery at 39 weeks is necessary because there's a high risk of stillborn after her due date, so it's safer to get her out a little early. My doc said if this was my 2nd baby or I was starting to dilate already, we could try for an induction, but since she's so tiny, an induction and long labor could be very traumatic for her, and there's a much greater chance her heart rate would drop and I'd need an emergency c anyway. So we agreed we'd just take the safer route for her. That said, now that I have been cleared to go to 39, she'll continue with cervical checks because if I do start to dilate and it seems like I won't have a prolonged labor, we can still try for an induction. She didn't seem to think that was likely though, and I agree. I think if left to her own devices this girl would stay put till January!
How was your thanksgiving?

Just popping in to check out the December board since it looks like I may very well be joining you if Cricket doesn't make his/her mind up to come out soon! 41+2 here and getting a little craaaaaaaaazy!

@lamariniere: I am totally considering switching after the baby is born. I like some things about her (and I really love her staff!) but some things are really starting to get under my skin. I picked her because she's the only one in my town with a solo practice, rather than in a group practice, but that preference may well go out the window! Exciting about you mucous plug! I think I lost a tiny bit of mine last week, but nothing since, so yours sounds much more promising!
@Pirouette: I hope I didn't make you feel bad about not updating - trust me, I totally get being exhausted!! Sounds like you have a great plan in place for safely delivering baby girl! What a relief it must be!
I had a great Thanksgiving! Most of our family is far away, except my mom who moved into our basement over the summer, so it was a very relaxed at home holiday. Hubs is a great cook, and made everything except for my pie. Having so little room in my stomach meant I had to be strategic about my eating plan, but at least that meant I didn't graze all day and feel gross! My town has a huge road race every year with 15k runners, and I had to skip going to watch with my hip pain which was kind of a bummer, but also ok because it was 30 degrees out! Ended the day with some strategic Black Friday cloth diaper buying at midnight!
Now that I've eaten pie, and my cold sore is almost healed, I'm ready for baby to come out! 9 days until my due date today - single digits!

@Pirouette: modern medicine is an amazing thing. I'm so glad doctors can monitor these kinds of situations and offer the safest possible outcome.
@FarmWifeGina: welcome! Awww, I hope you still get your November baby, I would be going crazy too!
@jaypegs: yummy, what kind if pie? And yay for Black Friday deals!
As for Thanksgiving, we are probably some of the most untraditional people out there. Also, since it isn't a holiday here, my husband had to work. I loooove to cook, but my oven is the size of an easy bake oven, so it's hard to cook multiple course meals, or big turkeys, which really makes me crazy. After I told my brother that we didn't do thanksgiving, he summed it up by saying something along the lines of "that boy is never going to know about stuffing your face and watching football" with regard to my DS.
pomegranate / 3113 posts
@Pirouette: so glad that your checkup went well, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that baby keeps growing well during these last couple weeks!
@lamariniere: sounds like your body is starting to prepare -- exciting! It's too bad your oven makes cooking big meals difficult, but maybe you could do smaller birds like chickens instead? It's not the same but at least it's something!
@jaypegs: if I were you, I'd switch and tell the doctor exactly why. She should know! And I know not all group practices operate this way, but I've seen all five practitioners in my group (some more often than others) so at least I'll know whoever is on call that day. If you decide to go the group practice route, ask whether they have a similar policy or whether it's possible to at least meet the other doctors.
@farmwifegina: welcome! There's still a chance you could be a November mama, but we're happy to have you in December if that's what baby decides!
AFM, just uncomfortable and slightly grouchy, but not much else is going on. I'm starting to get cold feet, I am so not ready to have a tiny person who is utterly dependent on me. How did I get myself into this? (Don't answer that...) Aahhh!!!
pineapple / 12566 posts
@PurplePeony: I can fit a whole chicken in it, fortunately, but nothing else at the same time! My oven only has one rack! Even of it had 2, nothing else would fit. We live in a rental and it's an ikea oven. Grrrrr. I hear you on the grouchy though, I've been in a somewhat grouchy mood the last few days. I find that I am set off pretty easily :-/. I think it's pretty normal to have these feelings of doubt. It will all change when you finally get that baby on your arms.

@FarmWifeGina: hope you get to meet your baby soon!! Are you having any signs of impending labor yet?
@jaypegs: soooo relieved sounds like a great Thanksgiving - and 9 days, wow! Glad your cold sore is healed...you are ready! And totally agree you should switch doctors after you deliver!
@lamariniere: don't worry, we didn't really do thanksgiving either - we were just too tired after this week! And turkey is so overrated! yea, modern medicine is truly amazing - I'm so lucky to be in such good hands with the care here. I totally trust my doctors to help me do whatever is safest for baby. While a c section is less than ideal, I will do whatever it takes to have her safe and healthy in my arms!
@PurplePeony: thanks so much! And I totally hear you on caring for a tiny baby, scares the heck out of me too! Counting on that mom gene to take over...we can hope, right?!

@Pirouette: I lost my plug the other night and was having contractions every 10 minutes and then I went to bed and there's been nothing since. Lame. But I have so many aches and pains with this third pregnancy, I'm gonna have a hard time knowing for sure when it's the real thing- I feel like a FTM all over again!
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@FarmWifeGina: that mustve been so frustrating! but I bet once they start up again you'll progress really quickly. Maybe baby really is waiting for December!
pear / 1571 posts
@Pirouette: I know , that's kinda what I'm counting on. Which would be crazy because my first two labors have both been over 24 hours. But as they say, first one is slow, second one is fast (and my active labor was definitely shorter with her), and the third one is unpredictable. Damn straight, I say.

@lamariniere: I spent 4th of July in Vienna once (I spent a summer in college there doing research) and it was definitely weird! I made my pumpkin pie with a caramel pecan topping because it's Hubs favorite.
@PurplePeony: I can definitely relate to being anxious about actually having a baby. I feel like I've put so much effort into preparing for birth and buying all the things, but I'm scared I'll get to the part where there's an actual mini person involved and just not know what to do! I don't necessarily feel like I've really bonded with baby in utero, which makes me nervous too, but I'm counting on those post-birth hormones!
@FarmWifeGina: your patience is inspiring to me! I'm not even 39 weeks until tomorrow, and I'm already getting antsy!
pineapple / 12566 posts
@jaypegs: what did you think of Vienna? Summer is definitely the best season to be here.
@Pirouette: gah! Only one full sized burner? I would be in big trouble. We definitely wouldn't have taken the apartment if that were the case.
Ok ladies, I think I had some bloody show this morning! There was definitely something bloody in the toilet after I peed. And when I went again, I wiped more pinkish discharge. So of course I have been reading the HB archives and it seems a lot of ladies that saw their bloody show went into labor within a few hours-48 hours. Eeeps! I'm 37+2, so I guess it is possible, but I am hoping she will stay put until at least 38w. I better not have this baby before @FarmWifeGina: !
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@FarmWifeGina: wow, over 24 hours is rough! Apparently this one just isn't looking forward to all that drama and wants to wait till the last minute to start things up! Are you talking induction at any point or just letting nature take its course?
@lamariniere: omg!!! She's getting eager to enter the world, crazy!! I'm going to be anxiously awaiting your update these next few days! Any other labor signs? (And yes, one full size burner and three small ones...the things we do to live in NY!!)
pear / 1571 posts
@Pirouette: No, I won't consider induction until at least 42 weeks and/or something shows up on NST that leads us to believe that baby would fare better in than out. Not only am I planning a home birth and a medical induction would mean a complete transfer of care (but I'm willing to do it if need be), I'm pretty dedicated to letting my babies pick their own birthdays, and so far they have managed to that all on their own. My first son was also 41+ weeks, my mom went 41+ weeks with several of her 10 pregnancies, so, yeah, I guess it's not too unexpected for me, even though it's driving me nuts at the moment.
@lamariniere: Good luck! You go ahead and have your baby, don't let me hold up the show! One of these days...
