@lamariniere: I know! I haven't had my shower yet, so i don't have much, aside from the crib and dresser, but i feel like i have plenty of time. And now i keep thinking, wait, do i?! yay for transitioning your LO to a big boy bed! was it tough?

So I had to go to labor and delivery this morning due to the fact that I thought I might be leaking fluid. I get there and they have me lay on my back and they did a sterile speculum exam (aka, they shove that thing in with no lube). I was almost bawling. There was some fluid so they took a sample and did the strip test (negative), and looked under a scope (also negative). So thank goodness it was not amniotic fluid! I am however, already 2 cm dilated! They said it's not a big deal and will probably stay that way for weeks to come, but will start doing internal checks a few weeks early just to make sure.

For having a nice normal pregnancy (other than the question with his heart thing), this kiddo sure is making this last month and a half super interesting!

@mrsdoily: Glad you and baby are ok! With my last pregnancy I was 2cm dilated around 36 weeks, and delivered at 39 weeks, so that's ok. At least you have a head start! Did they say what the fluid was? I started leaking something (also thought it was amniotic fluid) just 3 days before giving birth, but they just said it was cervical fluid.

  4. mrsdoily

    apricot / 367 posts

@lamariniere: Just cervical discharge! Apparently some women are just "lucky" to have super watery, clear discharge. I'm just glad that it wasn't amniotic fluid and hope this kiddo stays put until December!!

Tomorrow I have a lot of appointments though, and hopefully we will finally get the answers we are looking for as far as baby boy's heart. We meet with the pediatric cardiologist at 1:15 and get a fetal ECG, then will go from there as far as what he finds. Then we have an ultrasound to determine growth at 3, and then I have an appt with the midwives at 4:15. Long day, but I'm looking forward to seeing baby boy again!

@mrsdoily: wow, how scary! Glad to hear it was nothing!

I had an u/s today before my doc appt. At 32+2 LO is 4lbs 4oz, which is the 67th pct, and the tech was able to confirm it is indeed DD2. And at the doc appt I learned I gained 2lbs in the past 2wks, so yay for me for finally putting some weight on the board.

@mrsdoily: Definitely keep us up to date with all of your appointments! And yay for seeing your little guy again.

    @mrsmate: congrats on another DD!

I'm jealous of all of you ladies getting to see your babies after 30 weeks! My doctor just does his crappy ultrasounds and I don't see anything.

UPDATE: The abnormalities are still on his heart. However, structurally and functionally his heart is normal. So the pediatric said that he really is not concerned anymore. He said if his heart had some structural or functional abnormalities as well, he would be worried, but because everything is working as it should, it's most likely just one of those rare abnormalities that are actually nothing to worry about. After E is born and before we go home, he will get an EKG and another ECG to make sure everything is still firing and working as it should, but the Dr. said that it's a better safe than sorry procedure. So that actually takes a huge load off of my mind! If he's not worried, and is nationally renowned at what he does, then I'm not going to worry either (or try anyways!)

Growth-wise, he's actually measuring two days ahead! He's about 5.8 pounds and his head is firmly down in my pelvis. He's locked and loaded apparently, so hopefully he stays that way until the end! I also had the perfect amount of fluid, so no worries there! I also finished scheduling all my appointments (including my induction appt), so they are all in place! So crazy that the end is getting this close!

@MrsCastro: If I haven't gone on my own before my due date, it will be the night of the 29th. They won't let me go past 42 weeks, but it has to be past 41, so I picked then. Hopefully I won't have to use it!

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@mrsdoily: yay, I'm so glad it went well! Also, December 29th is an excellent day, that's my DS's birthday :-). But I will keep my fingers crossed that your little guy leaves on his own accord before then.

The days are flying by! I belong to a Nov-Dec mom's group here (about 25 of us) and 4 of the ladies have already had their babies! It's definitely becoming more real now and the pending birth has been on my mind constantly, whereas just a few weeks ago it was still something far off in the distance.

@mrsmate: great to hear baby has been putting on weight all along, even if you haven't!

@lamariniere: Ha, I'm conflicted. I love getting to see my baby so much but I long for a problem free pregnancy where monitoring wasn't necessary!

And seriously, time is flying!!! I'm getting so anxious about wrapping everything up at work and getting organized for leave... I can't believe how fast the months are flying and how soon we will have our babies in our arms!!

@lamariniere: @mrsdoily: 12/29 is my due date, I hope I go then too. I was 8 days late w/DD1 and it was not fun. And I'm glad to hear you don't have to worry about LO's heart!

@mrsdoily: So good to hear about your LO's heart-- what a relief! It does seem so crazy that we're all getting so close to the end of these pregnancies, too.

I had an ultrasound yesterday to check whether my marginal previa had moved and, sure enough, it had! That was a relief, because I was worried about having to schedule a c-section and/or worry about bleeding like crazy if I went into labor on my own. We were able to see baby girl's profile (and watch her smack her lips-- OMG ADORABLE), hands, feet, and belly, and everything looks great-- she's head down, so I feel like I can better distinguish exactly *which* body parts (usually her butt) she's jamming up into my ribs.

The next time I'll see my doctor is next week, then I think we're going to an every-other-week schedule. I've completed my pre-registration at the hospital...eek! This is all happening REALLY soon!

Had my group b strep test today, and my first cervical check - can't believe I'm at 36 weeks already! No dilation or effacement yet though. The nursery got painted this week, so we got to consolidate all the baby stuff in one place. It's in piles, but my in-laws decided to visit next week (OMG WHY) so I'm planning on having them help organize. We also have all of our registry completion stuff on the way.

It's starting to feel really real now!

    How about everyone else?

  17. sosaysmegan

    olive / 65 posts

@Jaypegs: Yes! It totally feels more real with every week that passes (funny how that works, right? ). We have all the nursery furniture and stuff set up (I'm suspicious that the cat is using the changing pad as a bed, but I haven't caught him in the act just yet), and I've washed most of her clothes. I'm making the list of stuff to pack in the hospital go-bag, and we're more than halfway through with our childbirth prep class (the third of four sessions is tonight, and we've also done the pain management/anesthesia and breastfeeding ones). I'm a little apprehensive about getting my maternity leave finalized because our HR woman doesn't know jack about how it works, but I'm only planning to be at work until 12/6 (2 weeks before my due date).

With just over five weeks until my due date, it feels like time is absolutely flying by!

  18. jaypegs

    cherry / 120 posts

@sosaysmegan: Wow, you sound pretty set! Due to home renovations, we had to put the nursery off until now, so having at least something in there is a huge relief! Our changing pad is in the mail, but our cat has proven quite interested in the crib - not sure if it's the crib itself or the mesh covering we have on it designed to keep cats out, haha. He's totally claimed the boppy lounger I found secondhand though - I'm dreading taking it away from him!

I'm also trying to work until 12/6, but I'm due the 8th, so we'll see!

I feel like my body is really slowing down at this point. Unfortunately, I am much more sedentary with this pregnancy than with my first, so when I do get out and about and walk for a few hours, I am soooo tired and achy by the end of it and feel like a pregnant lady.

As for baby prep, I finally ordered the last of the gear I felt like we needed, but of course missed the delivery when I was out this morning, so I'll have to get my DH to go pick it up at the post office. I washed all of DD's new clothes and put them away, so that was exciting. Seriously, I was squealing over these adorable itty bitty socks I found a few weeks ago. The last gear thing is a pump/bottles. I know my hospital rents pumps, so I think I'm going to go that route, but since I managed to EBF my son, I kind of want to wait to see how it goes before renting a pump and buying bottles. The bad thing about living here is that you can't really just run out to a store like target or BRU for one stop baby shopping if you suddenly feel like you need a bunch of unexpected baby things. I'm hoping we've prepped enough!

@jaypegs: I have my group B strep at my 37 week appointment, so in 2 weeks. I was negative the first time around, but I have no idea if this is something you can acquire between pregnancies?

@sosaysmegan: I've been thinking about the hospital bag too! I think I'll wait until the beginning of December to pack it though.

  20. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@sosaysmegan: i haven't done anything with hr yet, and was just wondering if thats a bad thing! I mean what if I go early? As of now I plan on working until the 13th and then working from home the following week up to my due date, but that could change in the next few days depending on appts.

@jaypegs: can't believe you already had a cervical check! That makes it sound so soon!!

@lamariniere: it sounds like you have mostly everything you'll need! How long does delivery take if you have to order things?

As for me, had my shower this weekend (was so much fun!)and now I feel so much more ready! We have a few small things to buy still but I want to wait until I have a complete list so we can use our completion discount! I'm a little nervous for my US tomorrow but trying to keep positive because I have grown quite a bit the past two weeks and hopefully she has followed suit!!

Is it seriously mid-November?! Time has not stopped flying!

  21. lamariniere

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@Pirouette: Online shopping delivery totally depends. I think in general it's like 3-4 days, depending on where it is coming from. I ordered this most recent stuff more than a week ago. I didn't even get an order confirmation until yesterday, so I thought surely I still had a few more days before they delivered, but no!

That's exciting that you had your shower! All the baby stuff piling up certainly makes it feel more real.

  22. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@lamariniere: i wonder if the holidays make any difference there. here, we're already getting the holiday rush at USPS, UPS and FedEx - my friend sent me a gift from baby gap and was told it would ship in 7-10 days, and it arrived in 2 days! and amazon has been super fast too - i think they just move inventory super fast around the holidays and the shipping companies have more people working overtime. Just not sure if it's the same internationally.

btw do you think you will go earlier this time? i can't remember if you were early or late with your LO, i just remember it was during the xmas snowstorm!

  23. lamariniere

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@Pirouette: not really sure about the holiday shipping here. A lot of our stuff is fulfilled by amazon in Germany or other German sites since the Austrian market is so small. As for baby delivery, I was just 4 days early with my son. I hope DD is a little early too because it will be so much easier logistically. DS's school closes for two weeks the day after my due date, so it's going to be rough to manage him plus going to the hospital.

  24. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@lamariniere: that makes sense... i hope you go early again then! do you guys have any family out there to help out?

  25. lamariniere

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@Pirouette: no family coming (I REALLY wanted to avoid my MIL). I have enlisted 5 different people to be on call for the big day, so depending on when she decides to arrive, we should be covered. I just hope I don't go into labor in the middle of the night.

  26. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@lamariniere: haha i can understand not wanting the MIL around! that's great you've got a good group of people on standby, so your LO should be well taken care of

  27. jaypegs

Well, my good news is that I'm 37 weeks as of yesterday! Bad news is that I came down with a cold sore over the weekend, which has totally wiped me out. Had my weekly with my OB today and she put me on medication which I'll have to stay on until the birth to suppress any further outbreaks. I'd been hoping to go early (not too early), but now I'm just hoping he/she stays in there long enough so I can kiss them when they're born! So nervous I might get the baby sick!

  28. lamariniere

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@jaypegs: Congrats on making it to the former definition of full term! I hope your sore heals fast so you can smooch that baby!

Even though the definition changed, I'm still looking forward to hitting that milestone in another week. Out of curiosity, I'm going to ask my doctor about the 37 vs. 39 weeks change when I see him tomorrow to see what is officially considered full term here.

Hi all! It's been a while since I've been on here but it's good to see everyone is doing well. I can't believe how fast the time is going and how close we all are to our due dates. Yay!! We've set our c section date, so as long as baby stays put, she will be born December 2nd. I'm so ready too. I don't remember feeling this big or uncomfortable with DD.

  30. lamariniere

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@mynoahbear: eeee! That is so exciting to know that you have a date! Good luck with the last few weeks!

  31. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@jaypegs: sending you fast healing vibes!!!

@lamariniere: my docs are still going with 37 weeks as full term in terms of my baby! They said 39 would be great, but they are only concerned about getting her to term at 37 weeks.

@mynoahbear: oh wow, that's right around the corner!!! So exciting!

  32. lamariniere

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@Pirouette: oh wow, does that mean she could be born right after you hit 37 weeks?

  33. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@lamariniere: yup! i have a scan scheduled for 36.5, and they'll determine then whether she's coming out at 37 (thanksgiving weekend) or if we can try to make it a week or two longer. the goal is 37 but obviously it's in her best interest to stay in a little longer if she's still growing! but they said 37 is term, and she wouldn't be considered a preemie or anything.

  34. lamariniere

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@Pirouette: oh wow, so you could potentially be a November mommy! Would they induce? Or c-section?

  35. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@lamariniere: I hope not!! i'd like her to make it to 39, or even 38 c v. induction is still up in the air - the doc says it will depend on how she's doing - she thinks an induction might be risky for the baby, but hasn't committed to me having a c yet, so there's still hope! I just want what's best for the baby, so i'm open to anything...but if i get to choose, i'd like to have her in December!

Haven't posted in awhile but all is well here.

Hoping to have littlest man here soon. Really don't want him to have a December birthday. lol

He dropped 2 weeks ago, been having irregular contractions for about a week and then today I lost my mucus plug!!!

Just packed my hospital bag the other night too a little behind my schedule but couldn't get the energy to do it sooner. lol

So exciting to have so many babies imminent! Hopefully the board will start seeing a bit more action as everyone gets closer!

Thinking of you @Pirouette: and hoping you get your December baby!

Woke up with horrific pelvic pain on Wednesday and have spent the last few days in bed or on the couch. Called my OB and she chalked it up to the last few weeks being uncomfortable, but as someone with an especially high pain tolerance, I can't imagine hardly being able to move is normal! She wouldn't see me any earlier than my appointment on Tuesday, so looking forward to that.

I feel like I only post when something crappy happens, I'm sorry! Just frustrated with the whole thing. I like hearing everyone else's updates though!

  38. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@Kiki: wow, that sounds like you are progressing! Could be any day now!

@jaypegs: aww thank you! I will know more on Wednesday. I'm sorry you are in so much pain! I hope you get some answers (or drugs?!) on Tuesday! Has your cold sore healed?

  39. lamariniere

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@Kiki: oh wow! Sounds like everything is moving along nicely! You inspired me to start packing my hospital bag. My stuff is about half packed, but I think I have everything ready for baby.

@jaypegs: I hope you are feeling better soon!

@Pirouette: very anxious to hear what your doc will say this week. Keep us posted!

As for me, I had my last appointment this past week at 36 weeks. Everything was fine and I had the strep B test. My Ob won't see me again until the delivery! However, if anything happens, he said to go to the hospital to get checked out. If the baby hasn't arrived by her due date, I'm supposed to go to the hospital and have them perform a stress test. It all seems so nonchalant!

  40. Kiki

    cherry / 157 posts

Had my 37 week doctor appointment today. Went good. I was diagnosed with Gestational hypertension, which is high blood pressure during pregnancy. So I will be induced before I am 39 weeks. Which means Baby E has less than 2 weeks to come on his own before he gets an official eviction notice.

I go back next Monday to do a Non-stress test again to see how I am doing.

Also I had a 1/2 dozen contractions while hooked up to the machine (for about 20 minutes) so hopefully this means he will come on his own
