@T.H.O.U.: lol, sorry, I have two...the one from yesterday was a last minute add on follow up from the ER. I didn't see the doc and am going back on Monday

@LovelyPlum: Incredible. A little bit more real than this morning, but still not really real!! Incredible.

@T.H.O.U.: Oh, and new u/s date is Sept 13 But she did say I could come in again if I get nervous. Don't give me that opening! I'm going to try though. A whole month.

Yay! Just got back from first appt. Everything looks good. Didn't get to hear the heartbeat but I could see it. Going back again the 30th for another ultrasound!

I feel like it's been the longest day ever! I'm so ready for it to be tomorrow morning!!!

Ok...finally had my appointment! Lots of info and they have big plans for me. They want to see me every 3 weeks instead of 4, but I had to schedule for 4 weeks because they were really booked the week of labor day.
No ultrasound, but I get one when I go back the 13th...and many times after that.
Because of all of S's history (big baby, shoulders stuck, stillborn), I was told that if by 39 weeks, if I don't go into labor on my own, they're recommending a section. A year ago I would have scoffed at this and ran, but I think I'm going to come to terms with it. After all, at this point my only concern is bringing a healthy baby home with me at the end of it all. I am thinking, though, that maybe I can get them to induce me at 38 weeks, if my cervix is looking favorable. An induction at 38 weeks sounds better to me than a section at 39.
I'm already being pegged for GD. I don't take an official test until 20 weeks, but I've been told to eat and act as if I know I have it. He did take one blood draw for me, to see where I was at the moment with it.
My due date at the moment is still April 6, but they'll date it better at the ultrasound. This is now more important than ever, since I have that 39 week deadline.
So, next appointment is September 13th, and it's a long one!

@Dandelion: That sounds like a successful appointment to me! A plan is being formed now so you have time to wrap your mind around what will be happening and you are all on the same page. Good news

@Dandelion: I'm so glad it went well. It is great to have proactive docs. How are you feeling?

@LovelyPlum: Physically? I've been a little queasy...mentally, I got a little freaked out today. I just gotta take it one week at a time.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@Dandelion: I never responded, sorry. I'm sorry you're freaked, but I can't say I blame you. I hope you're feeling a bit better today.

@LovelyPlum: Thinking of you today! Can't wait to hear how it goes today. What time do you go?

I have my first appointment today! Unfortunately, it's with my doctor that I can't stand. We move next week, so there was no point in finding a new one for one appointment. Because of my m/c, I'm going to ask for a 48 hour test (is there an official name for that so I can sound more definite in what I'm asking for?) and to check my progesterone levels. I'm a little worried she's going to try and blow me off, and I'm *super* nonconfrontational, but I'm going into it prepared to stand up for myself.
Also, don't suppose there are any Nashville bees on here who can recommend a new ob/gyn or midwife?
eggplant / 11408 posts
@Torchwood: good luck! I think the test is just called an HCG draw...my office always does two in a row. But I definitely think you should ask for it! Also, I might make a post on the main boards...there are at least a few Nashville bees that I know of, and they may be able to help!

@LovelyPlum: Thanks. Last time they didn't do a blood test at all, so I definitely want to be sure they do this time. And I may do that, good idea!

Update, update!!
My appointment went really well. It turns out that I did have another ultrasound. My doctor was super sweet-he was very relaxed and helped me to feel not so tense. He figured I should be 7 weeks and asked if we should check it out with the u/s-who can say no to that? So he did another transvaginal u/s, and baby is measuring 6w6d. He used a portable, older machine, so the picture wasn't quite as crisp, but I did get to see a tiny little heartbeat pumping away! And I got pictures, too
So I'm feeling quite a bit better about our progress. I go back in two weeks for another appointment and ultrasound. I'm really glad I didn't have to ask for two weeks out, because that is what I wanted...that is what he suggested. Other than that, the appointment was very smooth...pelvic rest got lifted, I get to stay on my medicine, and no huge list of rules to follow. Just a firm instruction to call if I need anything.
My nerves now are more that I know a few people who have found out they lost the baby at 9 weeks...but I'm trying to focus on the amazing miracle that is still inside me
Thanks so much for the good thoughts!!

@LovelyPlum: So glad you saw a heartbeat and all! And that you get to see it again so soon! I hope you are able to find some good peace about it, and I'm sending lots of positive thoughts and all that your way!
The appointment actually went better than I expected. She offered everything I wanted (48 hour test, progesterone supplements) without me asking. And she only made one almost snarky comment about having not waited long after the m/c. She had said to wait longer and I was afraid she'd be annoyed. I feel so much better to have the progesterone. Just having something to actively do to help with m/c risk, even if it likely won't make a huge difference, makes me feel better.
I have to get blood drawn again on Wed and then I should get results by Fri unless the first one comes back negative or something. But I already feel better! I was irrationally worried I'd get there and their pee test would be negative and they'd just send me home or something.
Omg you guys, I'm pregnant!

@LovelyPlum: so happy for your good news!!!
@Torchwood: haha that's how I felt! I saw the little heartbeat and thought, "wow! It's really happening!"
