@Boopers: We bought ours from a local store called Posh Baby. We don't have BBB here.
@Mrs.Pinecone316: I'm sorry you had that scare! Glad to hear all is well now.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: Glad to hear everything is alright! I hear you on the perpetual worrying. At least you know you are doing everything you can!

@Banana330: I have had the lemon lime flavor both times. The tech said that one is the best, then orange, and the worst is fruit punch. But yeah, it's just like thick, flat, extra sweet soda. The actual taste I don't find so bad, it's the finishing it in 5 minutes on an empty stomach. Once it hits my stomach I start to feel a little nauseous. (My practice makes everyone take a 2 hour fasting test with 3 blood draws, not every practice is like that).

I love our recliner/glider. We got it at BRU, but I don't know which one it was. At the time we weren't able to find it online and I'm now not sure which one it is. It might be this one? http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3568995&cp=2255957.2273443.2256245.50629046.50628856.50628856&parentPage=viewall&isTopSellingItem=true

It was about $400. And it's fantastic.

@NeekieRose: ooh fruit punch could be ok.. I never drink juice and if it do I usually water it down so i'm not sure how well this drink will go over.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: That would have been scary. Glad it was nothing serious.

I can't believe it's NYE. What is everyone doing for New Years? We've been invited to a few things ranging from casual with a few friends to big party. Not sure what i'm in the mood for.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: wow so sorry you had that scare but i'm glad to hear everything seems to be normal now! it's so hard not to worry and i hear it doesn't get any better once they're on the outside either

i'm choosing between a couple of gliders... my friends are purchasing it for me as my friend's shower gift, which is so lovely and exciting! i found a place close by that is out of a woman's house and she gets wholesale prices on a bunch of baby furniture. my best friend ordered all her nursery stuff from there and she has lots of gliders... you can choose the fabric for all of them too so that's pretty nice! the ones i'm eyeing are recliner/gliders too so should be good.

@Banana330: we never go out for new years and i LOVE it. we usually stay home in pajamas and cook up a bunch of appetizers and just hang out. i'm at work today but should get let out early and i can't wait to get home! our friends are getting together for the canada vs us world junior game but we can't be bothered.

@Banana330: We are going to a house party where the dress code is PJs. So that should be nice and comfortable! It doesn't start until 8 and Reagan's bedtime is 7, so we shall see how that goes. Might try to keep her up for a little while and then just deal with the repercussions tomorrow!

@Banana330: We are just hanging out. I'm too tired to care and even though I'm usually a high sentimental person, I haven't cared about ringing in the new year in years lol i don't know why.

Our local library is having a "Noon Year's Eve" party. They are having food and doing a ball drop at noon for the kids since most won't see midnight. We are totally going to that.

    nectarine / 2317 posts

@loki: Nice, I do love hanging at home!

@NeekieRose: That sounds like my kind of party!

@Mrs. Sunshine: I totally get that. I'm really not feeling anything major this year. and I have a feeling I'll be lucky to make to midnight!

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@Mrs. Sunshine: That sounds like such a cute idea!

My coworker just asked me if I have a party dress for Reagan. I was like, no, her bedtime is 7. I mean come on, what good can come from keeping a baby up until midnight? Maybe a couple extra hours, but no way she understands any of this.

question for you guys... lately i've been having horrible like... rib pain? it's mostly when i'm lying down (trying to sleep) and i find it is mostly on whichever side i'm lying on. it's right under my boob and i'm wondering if it's from the weight of these bad boys. i was already having horrible sleeps and only getting maybe 3-4 hours a night max and this pain is making it worse. anyone else dealing with it?

  13. Boopers

    pear / 1548 posts

@Banana330: we got invited to two different parties, but at this point it's hard to stay up late and I just don't want to be out on the roads after midnight. DH and I are going to go to dinner. He is picking the restaurant and keeping it a surprise. Then we'll come home and just relax and enjoy some time together. I'm really looking forward to it!!

@loki: I've had a lot of under boob/rib pain on my right side that started around Thanksgiving. I originally thought it was my gallbladder because the pain radiated through to my back, but I think it's just my body stretching and expanding. The pain and discomfort comes and goes. Sitting up straight or standing up and giving myself and baby more room helps. Sometimes when I'm sleeping it throbs and wakes me up. Not sure if that's what you're experiencing. I hope you feel better soon!

  14. loki

    pear / 1787 posts

@Boopers: i thought gallbladder too when i first felt it but since then it's been mostly on my left side. and it totally radiates to my back. actually my entire back hurts ALL THE TIME. the chairs at work are so unsupportive and my huge boobs don't help i wish i could be one of those women who just LOVES pregnancy but i am very very miserable. april can't come soon enough! i am starting to get REALLY excited and feel really ready to meet this little one. but everyone says the final months draaaaaaag the most. boo. i wanna beg my dr to put me on bed rest haha (not really...)

@NeekieRose: We only do the one hour test, and it doesn't have to be fasting. It seems like every clinic is different.

HAHA, with a small child we don't even celebrate New Years Eve. I guarantee we'll have J asleep by 7 and then we won't make it until 10. I am very excited for the big football games on New Years though!

  16. Banana330

    nectarine / 2317 posts

@Boopers: That sounds really nice. I kinda wish we had organised something like that.

@loki: no rib pain yet. I don't think the baby is up that high on me yet.

I am feeling the best I've felt this entire pregnancy. I feel like since getting my snoogle, my sleep issues have resolved. My back hasn't been as sore this week and my nasuea and heartburn has let up for the last few days. Finally!

  17. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@marionberry: According to my midwives, "everyone" is supposed to be moving to a 2 hour test for everyone. And you either pass or fail, unlike the one hour test which is just a screening and then you have to come back for a three hour test if you fail the one hour.

Apparently there is less room for error with one test? I didn't even ask about it this time, but last time I remember being like "Wait, what? A two hour test? That's not what I have read about!"

  18. Mrs. Sunshine

    hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts

@NeekieRose: my OB does the 2 hour test too. Last time I brought a friend cause I didn't want to be bored....this time I'm so excited to sit quietly and alone with nothing to do lol

@Mrs. Sunshine: I brought my work laptop and worked But at least that way, I was able to count it as part of my work day.

    pear / 1787 posts

@Banana330: i probably need to cave and invest in a snoogle or something! it's reassuring to hear you like it. i don't think my babe is up high at all, i feel like i'm carrying low and mostly feel her under or near my belly button. i totally feel like my belly just looks like a gut when i'm not in clothes (or in bathing suits... which i've unfortunately had to purchase this week... depressing).

  21. Banana330

    nectarine / 2317 posts

@loki: it's been great! I really resented having to pay $50 for a pillow but i had a horrible night where I got no sleep and was super uncomfortable and just broke down and got one.
ugh bathing suits. I can't even imagine.

  22. loki

    pear / 1787 posts

@Banana330: haha that's what i keep saying... FIFTY BUCKS. my husband is like YOU AREN'T SLEEPING haha. maybe i'll pull the trigger.
ya bathing suit shopping was haaaaaard... i'm kinda dreading my trip. usually before vacations/summer i am eating super healthy and working out a ton to feel my best. before i got pregnant i was at like my highest weight ever so EVEN if i wasn't pregnant, my bathing suits wouldn't fit. i have bought a bunch of one pieces but feel like i dont' even look cute/pregnant, i just look dumpy and like i have a grandma body. there will be no vacation photos haha.

  23. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@loki: I've seen your bump pics! You def look pregnant, not dumpy! I'm sure vacation will be fantastic!

  24. loki

    pear / 1787 posts

@NeekieRose: thank you! i feel like my bump looks like a normal pregnancy bump in clothes. but naked or in bathing suits for some reason i just look... like a total old lady! haha. ya vacation will be fine, i'm just in such a different mindset this time and that makes it hard. but i am looking forward to being able to relax and be off work for a while so my sleepless nights can be followed by sleep filled days!

  25. Banana330

    nectarine / 2317 posts

@loki: I agree with @NeekieRose: you guys totally have cute real bumps! Even with clothes on I would only get mistaken for someone who ate all the pies. It's getting more bump like but I think i'm going to be 30+ weeks before I get a bump that's recognizable to an outsider

@loki: I'm trying to decide on a little something to buy myself to celebrate my year-end bonus from work (and then put the rest of it into savings) and DH suggested a pregnancy pillow. Haaa. I was thinking more like a $50 bottle of wine. Fortunately I'm still getting decent sleep but those pricey pillows are tempting.

Overall I'm still feeling pretty great, though I'm having occasional sciatica pain, some mild reflux, and (joy!) pregnancy rhinitis. Yep, I thought I was coming down with a cold, but it turns out I just get to have a runny nose forever for no reason. The miracle of life.

We watched a video in our birthing class which was overall a lovely birth, but the poor woman was fully dilated, fully effaced, baby was in position, and it took her over two hours to push her out. She looked like she was going to die. I told DH I changed my mind, we can just adopt a baby instead.

    pear / 1787 posts

@PawPrints: jealous of your decent sleep and feeling pretty good! but amazing for you. definitely treat yourself to something not pregnancy related with your bonus.
i'm with you on the runny nose. until right now i thought i just had the world's longest cold but i'm realizing now that's probably what it is haha. also, i told DH all the time that if he doesn't wanna carry & birth the next one, we're adopting haha.

    @marionberry: yah!

@loki: @PawPrints: and yeah. Constant mucus. Was worse with my cold the last two weeks. But even with that gone, it's still here. Was the same way last time.

We have made a ton of progress on the nursery these last few days, phew!!! We need the crib and the glider and the major stuff will be done!

How is everyone else's nursery going?

@loki: I couldn't believe how much the snoogle was either but it really is awesome. I bought a different one from Target that was a little cheaper and hated it. Hopefully it will help you sleep better.

How far along will everyone be when they have their baby shower? Sorry if this has been talked about already, sometimes I can't keep up and am late to the party:)

    oh and Happy New Years!

  35. Astro Bee

    pear / 1503 posts

Happy New Years everyone! I spent the last couple of days in Montreal with DH and friends. Delicious supper at a posh restaurant on the 30th (sooo happy to be able to eat steak again without wanting to ralph!) with drinks (H2eau for me) at a bar afterwards, and low key evening in at said friends' apartment last night. But so much food! It was a great time, but also kind of nostalgic to know that every New Years from here on out will be different.

With all the travel the last week and a half, we've been sleeping on less than ideal mattresses; last night was an air mattress. My lower body feels really wrecked. I've been waddling like an old lady, I'm super slow (normally I'm a very fast walker), every time I cough or sneeze I feel it in my right sacroiliac joint, I'm experiencing the joys of pregnancy rhinitis, and last night when I rolled over, my hips separated and then slid back together. Can't describe the last bit any better than that, but it was in my lower back/hip area. Anyone experience that yet or in a past pregnancy?

On the plus side, I've been sleeping pretty good all along - aside from MOTN pee breaks, which just started up again - and have just been wrapping myself around my king size pillow which I have stuffed between my knees.

  36. PawPrints

    pomegranate / 3658 posts

@Astro Bee: Omg whatever happened to your hips sounds terrifying. Hope it wasn't painful.

@Boopers: Nursery is completely nonexistent right now. I wanted to put it off since I really like our office being upstairs near our bedroom and was not itching to move it downstairs before we have to. Now that it's the new year though, DH has decided to get that project started, so this weekend he'll tackle phase #1 by painting the downstairs guest room (which will become our new office, so the old office can become the nursery). Then a friend is coming over on Sunday to help DH move all the furniture upstairs/downstairs to switch the two rooms. After that DH will need to find a weekend to do the nursery painting project... and move out all the closet stuff... okay there's a lot to do. Someday I'll actually be able to start putting up cute decor in there. Three months to go! Plenty of time right?

  37. Astro Bee

    pear / 1503 posts

@Pawprints: It wasn't so much terrifying, as unsettling. I was also half asleep at the time. It didn't hurt or anything, but it was a little uncomfortable, and it did make me very aware that I'd be pushing a baby out through there in only three months!

@Boopers: I picked up some paint chips for the nursery yesterday, so once I make my mind up, DH and I will start the painting. We actually finished painting the accent wall in our bedroom only this evening, 5 1/2 months after I purchased that paint! Pregnancy certainly delayed those plans, so hopefully the nursery project will go much faster. Times ticking after all!

I'm thinking about a grey, white and aqua theme, with small orange accents: light grey walls, white Babyletto furniture with the walnut trim, grey glider, aqua pouf for my feet, and aqua curtains. The small bits of orange accents would be in the form of clownfish photos that DH and I have taken ourselves, and a fish mobile. I'm toying back and forth with having a light aqua wall on the long wall behind the crib, and maybe sticking some fish decals on there. What do you all think? What are other people planning, or have already done?

@loki: @boopers: yep, been dealing with that for a couple months now but its only in my right side, so am able to sleep on my left thankfully. The only thing they makes mine better is lying down. My doc ran all kinds of tests on liver, kidney and gall bladder function but all were journal do just growing pains. My doc suggested Tylenol with a caffeine drink to jumpstart but honestly they doesn't even touch the pain. I've gotten a couple prenatal massages and they has helped relieve some of the back pain. Also trying to do lots of back stretches which helps a bit, but I think it's here to stay until baby come. I've been using my pregnancy pillow on a regular basis now and they also helps to have support both under belly and back. Sorry you're dealing with it!

@Banana330: do glad you're feeling good! Hooray!

@PawPrints: we're about to register for birthing classes and DH was like, "which of these are mandatory?" and I said, "all of them!". I might be overdoing it but our hospital has a full day childbirth basics class, then a 3 hour class thats focused even more on breathing and relaxation. I also want to do a breastfeeding basics class, and there is a basic baby care class we might do too! Whew! I'm excited about all of them because I like lots of info but DH thinks it's too much. What was your class like? Was it one time?

@marionberry: so glad you passed your test! Mine is in 2 weeks and I have the Orange drink too. Not looking forward to it!

@Boopers: no more progress in the nursery but we're hoping to clean it out this weekend!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: we have 2 scheduled - one at 32 and another at 35 weeks. I hope the lady one isn't too late! DH is a coach and one of the parents are throwing us a huge (80 people) couples shower in the evening. The other is a girls shower my mom and BFF are throwing. So excited!

@Astro Bee: sorry about the hip pain! I haven't felt anything separate but have woken up with sore hips when I don't have a pillow between my legs. I know everything is supposed to relax and stretch so at least your body is going what it should! Your nursery ideas sound lovely! That color combo sounds so pretty! Our nursery is painted a pretty beachy blue and we're doing white furniture with accents of pale green and khaki. I'm doing a beach/fish/vintage atlas theme, but still have lots to do!

It's been a great couple of days here, very relaxing with more time off work. I made lots of registry progress and got all the info about the birthing classes we're taking. I'm hoping to finish the registry this weekend and also work on cleaning out the spare room for baby, then we're going to order the crib. Very exciting! Being 2015 now is making me realize how close this is getting! Oh, also just posted a new bump pic on our other board!

@SunshineMcC: we took a weekend birth class and then accidentally missed the breastfeeding/newborn care class but I set up a separate appt with the teacher to get the highlights. I think it's all great info for dad to know. My husband, who already had kids and is
a former RN, even learned a few things at ours.

@astrobee: I'm not sure I'm having a shower. Originally my mom had mentioned one but she seems to have forgotten, so we'll see. We have most of what we need at least.

Should we start an April 15 Moms nursery thread to show progress updates?

  40. loki

    pear / 1787 posts

@marionberry: yay, that's so exciting! my test is on saturday and i'm nervous :\ a nursery thread is a great idea... i won't have much to add for another month or so but i'm on board!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: ok good to hear it's worth the money. might have to pick one up this weekend!
i'll be 34 & 35 weeks when i have my friends & family showers, respectively. pretty late but with the holidays and my vacation in january, it was kinda the only times that worked! hopefully i'm feeling okay!

@Boopers: i finally cleaned out the guest room last week (that was a huuuuge task) so it's ready for paint. my dad is going to come paint and assemble the furniture while we're away next week! woooo!!! so we'll be coming home to fresh paint and a dresser/crib! i've purchased a lot of stuff like prints, frames, decals, curtains, dresser hardware, crib skirt, a rug... so it's just a matter of getting it all in. i can't wait to see how it comes together... if only she had a name so i could purchase some letters for the wall!

@Astro Bee: that sounds so cute! we are painting the walls a light light mint... i love your plans! can't wait to see everyone's pictures of their nurseries!

@SunshineMcC: man i need to get on a class. my husband works 7 days a week so he can't come with me to any unfortunately... and we get home so late at night that the evening options aren't great either. there is an online course i will probably take and i want to find a breastfeeding class. hopefully my OB can suggest some resources when i go see her next week because my googling hasn't been all that successful.

i mentioned names earlier in this post... is anyone else decided on names? it is seriously my biggest stressor right now. i feel so ready in most other ways but we cannot name this babe and i dunno what we're gonna do! we have a list but cannot agree...
